Used this ferry to head to lanai for the day. We left out of Maalaea. Staff were courteous and kind. They also had a bathroom on board - very helpful. Make sure to pay for your parking if you park on the dock so you don't get ticketed.

Booked our ferry ride online. $30 one way, so to get back to Maui, it was $60 total. It was really easy to buy the tickets and check in. You can show them your voucher electronically or printed out. They have a little booth close to the wharf to check in. It's quite a spacious boat. With seating upstairs as well as enclosed seating downstairs. Boats were pretty clean. Seating was comfortable. Ride takes approximately 45-55 minutes, depending on which way you're going. Yes, the waves do get rough the later it gets but I was not bothered by it. They have restrooms onboard, and they also sell some drinks (non-alcoholic). No snacks though. But you can definitely bring your own food. They have an area for people to store larger luggage and other items. We saw some whales and dolphins on both trips, so that was a pretty nice experience. No need to book a whale sightseeing tour!!! Lanai is a beautiful place to visit. And this company makes it happen. They have 4 rides both ways. Leaving lanai, they have a 0645, 0945, 1300, and 1600. Leaving maui from Lahaina, they have 0815, 1115, 1430, and 1730. We parked behind the wharf shopping center. They have all day parking for $35. The nearest free parking is only for 3 hours, so that wasn't feasible for us. Both trips, the ferry left on its scheduled time. And according to the lady I spoke with over the phone, if you wanted to come back on an earlier ferry, you can do that, which is good to know.

My experience starts with booking with this company in advance, actually it's discount Hawaii that is affiliated with this ferry. I'm giving them a 5 star because is the smooth flow of instructions. You see online, I had difficulties booking in advance but had a call and email to complete the booking. I guess they have to request for a link prior to. Anyway, we booked on a Thursday from 9:45 to Lanai , about a 45-55 minute, approximately 9+ miles crossing on a channel (I can't remember the name) and leave Lanai at 5:30pm. They have different schedules to and from. We decided to stay about 8 hours in lanai. You can request to be back early or later if you wanted to but keep in mind that every 2nd Thursday of the month, the 2:30 lanai to Maui is omitted because they conduct a safety meeting and protocols for the whole staff during afternoon. We got here about 8:55 close to 9am. They want us to check in at 8:45 but no worries as long as you have your reservation (printout), go to the booth, get your tickets and finally tell your last name to the person that checking ppl in you should be okay. The ferry was on time. The ride across the channel was somewhat a little choppy , the crew are professional, boarding and de boarding went smooth. They go by sections. We were the first ones to get on board and the last to disembark. From Lahaina harbor to Manele Bay Lanai island

From the Lahaina Harbor the ferry leaves at 6:45, 9:15, 12:45, 3:15, and 5:45. From the Manele (Lana'i) Harbor the ferry leaves at 8:00, 10:30, 2:00, 4:30, and 6:45. THIS IS WEATHER DEPENDENT and our guide from Lana'i shared that she always brings her toothbrush when she goes to Lahaina because of the inclement weather. We left the Lahaina harbor at 9:15, it was a cruise ship dock day and the harbor was an absolute zoo. Be careful where you park (many spaces are 3 hours) because you will get a ticket. We were booked to return at 4:30 but due to high wind advisory we were encouraged to take the 2:00. The boat is in great condition and we sat on the top and saw whales. On the ride home, we got stuck inside (air conditioning) and it was a VERY BUMPY RIDE back. When you dock at Manele the beach is a quick walk. There are excellent facilities. You could also book a tour and have a guide pick you up (like we did). Would I make the trip again? Only if I hit the lottery and booked a stay at the Four Seasons Resort.

I booked the half-day trekker with expeditions and it was the best tour. My guide was josh and he was very knowledgeable of the island, very accommodating and professional and also let me customize the end of my tour. I got to see lana'I city, shipwreck beach, the garden of gods, and the cat sanctuary & got to hang by the beach until the last departure. Lana'i is beautiful and be sure to check out the sweetheart Rock just a short walk from the harbor. The ferry took about 45 mins each way Clean boat They offer sodas for purchase

Practical price for a day trip to Lanai. Very informative staff and friendly. Always on time. Great way to explore Lanai.

Let me start with, it isn't cheap. $60 per person round trip. But it was beautiful, comfortable and pleasant. We visited the cat sanctuary on Lanai. The round trip from arrival was just over 6 hours. We left at 945 and returned on the 230, which got back to Lahaina just after 330. Our parking was only for 6 hours, but thankfully we weren't cited! I did see an option to pay the citation through the parking meter if we had.

If we take the 9:45A ferry to go visit the cat sanctuary, will we have enough time to visit and get back to the 2:30P ferry?

You figure you're not going get off the ferry until 10 AM as they have cv19 protocols. It really depends on how fast you can get transportation from the Harbor to the cat sanctuary and back. It's 11 miles and takes 22 minutes. by car. You would need…

The boat was clean and accommodating for our group of 10. The sail was beautiful and mesmerizing. The Captain took time to give instructions on how to sail the boat to the children onboard. She also aloud them to have turns at the helm. Very exciting work for the kids. There were good options for beverages and appetizers. The musical playlist was pretty good and set the tone for the island vibes. We felt that we were in more than capable hands. Next time we come back, we'll look for this tour line and crew.

About 125 feet down to look at a modest little reef, a few small fish, and a boat they sank years ago that's now wearing a coat of algae. That's the whole show. And "show" is the right word. A surprising amount of the experience is dedicated to a scripted performance between the "pilot" below and a "controller" up top, a steady stream of "roger this" and "roger that" theatrics that's clearly meant to manufacture drama. It doesn't add wonder. It just fills time, and after a while it feels less like an adventure and more like being talked at while you wait for something that never really arrives. For the price, the substance simply isn't there. You're paying premium money for a brief look at an underwhelming patch of seafloor, wrapped in a lot of manufactured atmosphere. If you genuinely want to see Maui's marine life, a decent snorkel trip will show you more color, more fish, and more magic for a fraction of the cost. Two stars instead of one only because the sub itself is clean and the staff are pleasant. But on value and the actual experience? This was hype over substance. I'd skip it and put the money toward something that delivers.

Born and raised on Maui and I've never been snorkeling before, Captain Manu and Captain Reece made me feel comfortable for my first time snorkeling. Very knowledgeable about marine life and and very helpful. Both captains have years of experience in marine life and wildlife. They had bottles of water and snacks for our convenience if we didnt bring anything else. We were welcome to bring our own snacks and drinks as long as it wasn't in a glass container or alcohol since this is a family friendly activity. I never realized that snorkeling makes you hungry. But they had chips, so that helped a lot. Our first stop was Manele Bay. I told them I know how to swim but I wasn't comfortable without a floatation device over the reef because I didn't want to accidentally damage the reef. It was so beautiful and it changed my life, so much so that I'm adding snorkeling to my list of hobbies. Our second stop was Mala Ramp. Got to see turtles, white tip sharks, and fish that I normally see behind glass. We even had a dolphin pod following us. It was magical!! During this snorkel trip I learned that Captain Reece goes on research trips to study whale migration and habits. Capt. Reece also studies coral and does coral restoration here on Maui. Captain Manu was a volunteer at some of the lahaina distribution hubs after the fires and helped other survivors get back on their feet. I also learned that Capt Manu has been working on boats for over 15 years. So yes, the crew has a lot of experience. I want to go again soon and I can't wait for whale season to book again with Maui Adventure Cruises!! Thank you Captain Manu and Captain Reece!!! It was an incredible trip!!

Matt and Brian were both amazing divemasters, both very accommodating to our entire party of divers. Matt will ask you what your favorite song is; be prepared to have one picked out, because you may hear it come on when some whales breach nearby (like what happened to me). Brad is the quintessential captain; he makes his boat so inviting you just want to stay there and hang out even after your dive is over. I was able to dive Lanai Cathedrals and Hammerhead. The former is a must for divers of any skill level for anyone that hasn't experienced it. Taking in the sights of shafts of light in super clear waters inside a coral enclosure is akin to a religious experience, so the cathedral moniker is fitting. The latter is very much a dive for advanced divers with a lot of dives logged under their belt. Dive conditions are notoriously windy/choppy/heavy currents, however we were fortunate that none of those were true. Absolutely perfect conditions, but even then you should be prepared for a potentially strenuous drift dive. It's off-season for Hammerheads, so we didn't see any, but this wasn't at all a problem. There's no denying how amazing it is to dive along a sheer coral cliff face like The Finger and some dolphins came to say hi on our dive. Diving off Moloka'i (where the Hammerhead dive is) is an absolute privilege no matter what sealife you encounter. Brian, our divemaster for Hammerhead, is exactly the kind of divemaster you want for an advanced dive by making sure everyone's head is in the right space: if you uphold your end of the bargain in taking this seriously by paying attention to your oxygen and no deco (and in an advanced dive, the quality of everyone's experience truly hinges on everyone taking every element of the dive very seriously), you'll have exactly the kind of laid back experience you came for. Where Lahaina Divers went above and beyond is they accommodated a family emergency that forced me to cancel my other two dives on VERY short notice, no questions asked (note to any travelers staying in the Napili area: the closest emergency room is a 45 minute drive away!). Thankfully all is well, but I absolutely needed to be available and couldn't make those dives, and it was no sweat at all to get that situated. I left some camera gear on the boat for my second dive, and Brad reached out to let me know I could pick it up at the shop. After everything that happened after that second dive, gotta tell ya, you really appreciate that level of care and consideration. Sure enough, I popped in later on and got my gear easy peasy. It's been 10 years since I've set foot on Maui and thus dove with Lahaina Divers, but fingers crossed I'll be back much sooner (and can keep all my reservations booked!).
