It's about the journey! May 2025 We had looked at the ever touted "other" Molokini cat ride (KK2) and decided to try Sail Maui due to the huge price difference. We chose correctly! The Sail Maui crew rocked hard, were totally competent, friendly, and hospitable, the food was great, the ride to and from was epic, the snorkel gear was great, the family chose to use their gear instead of our own, I used my personal prescription mask for obvious reasons. While the high end motored cabin boats filled their enclosed salons to the brim with tourists, our 48 passenger capacity boat had 14 guests, and as such resulted in tons of personal attention and interaction. I hope I remembered the names correctly, but Capt Justin and crew Jade, Jess, and Geoffrey totally knew their stuff and were warm and friendly. I really need Justin's cruise playlist, too. Molokini was, Molikini. Unparalleled clarity and lots of coral and sea life. But as they say, it's the journey, and our Sail Maui crew made the entire excursion an epic one. read more

This is our 2nd cruise on the Alihilani! The crew is fantastic! Service is top notch! Track down Jess, tell her Sandi from Spokane, WA, on crutches with husband and son, says hi and then ask her to make her special Mai Tai! Very smooth and less sweet than the usual. Absolutely delicious!! She's a sweetheart too!!! The entire crew was very accommodating of my injury. They helped me on and off the boat and Jess insisted we not miss the sunset so she helped me get up the stairs to the front of the boat. Im very grateful! Appetizers were delicious, Teriyaki and sesame chicken skewers, caprese skewers, fruit. They were wonderful checking often with each guest to refresh their drinks and bring water so you didn't miss a moment of the view. Last minute trip so we ended up booking our snorkel trip last minute too. We get to the meeting spot and there are 6 of us. SIX for a 40-50 person boat. We thought for sure they would cancel but they did not and it was amazing. The crew was fantastic and the food was awesome! The captain followed some whale breach's in the distance and we ended up having an entire pod of dolphins swim with the boat for a good 5-10 minutes. It was crazy! Then we went to this amazing snorkel spot- no one else around- nice and private. Kudos for being the absolute highlight of our trip. Great people and when you come that far and they stick to their commitments, well that's not something you can always count on these days. Will book with these guys every time from now on. read more

Aloha, I just wanted to share a little recap of the amazing tour I went on this past weekend for my 25th birthday on Saturday- It was truly one for the books. We met at Maalaea Boat Ramp, where the Sail Maui crew greeted us warmly and gave a quick run-through of our itinerary. Before boarding, we were told to all remove our shoes (they kept them safe in a bin and returned them after the trip). The tour ran from 9:30AM- 3:30PM, and it was nothing short of incredible. On the way to Lana'i we were served a delicious breakfast- fresh fruit like pineapple, oranges, grapes, and melons, along with bacon, eggs & cheese croissants and cinnamon rolls. They also had Coke products, Juice, water, and an open bar ( which opened after snorkeling for safety reasons) Our first stop snorkeling stop was Shark Fin- the water was so deep, clear, and full of fish. Sail Maui provided everything we needed: Snorkels, fins, floatation devices, and even different ways to get into the water- Stairs, a slide off the back of the boat, or a side jump! We got around 30-45 minutes to explore. Our second stop had rough currents, so instead they brought us to what looked like Lana'i arbor, which turned out to be a beautiful and peaceful spot too! The fish were stunning- so many vibrant colors and so many schools swimming together along the bottom of the ocean floor! Music played on the boat while we lounged on the net and enjoyed lunch: an assortment of sandwiches (Pulled pork, tune, egg), pasta, fresh veggies, cheese, and veggie sticks with ranch. Cookies were also passed around after- such nice touch. On the way to Lana'i, we were treated to a show from spinner dolphins, even saw flying fish! There was a bathroom on board, and the crew were super attentive about the water safety- constantly checking in on swimmers and keeping watch for anyone who drifted too far. TIP: Wear sunscreen and Reapply often- I got a MEAN sunburn lol! Overall, this experience was a 10/10. I would absolutely recommend Sail Maui for anyone looking for a fun, safe, and unforgettable ocean adventure. My family loved it so much we're already planning to book another tour next month! Justin was our captain and Cass and Lily were the crew- friendly and professional! We had delicious food and drinks offered and a small amount of people on a amazing sail boat. We saw so many whales and it was a perfect day. It felt like you were on a friends boat not a tour company. Amazing communication and very ethical. What is good to really like? A much smaller boat which in this Covid days is a good thing! Christmas Day catamaran snorkeling to Lanai became a snorkel whale watch tour. Got a huge Christmas Gift of early whales and the captain took a lot of time to sail and float near so we could get some awesome views both going out and even coming back. Snorkeling was MEH but enjoyable, food was simple fair; fruit box's and continental breakfast and lunch was hearty make your own sandwich with all the fixings in your personal labeled lunch box ( Covid ). Captain and crew were great in offering and bussing drinks before and after snorkeling. All in all couldn't be a better way to spend Christmas Day in this tragic Covid time. read more

What an incredible time my daughter and I had on the Sail Maui Sunset Cruise. We enjoyed stunning views from the boat. With the wind in your face, viewing the Maui sunset from the boat is spectacular. I want to note the drinks were tasty, but we passed on the appetizers. I am sure the food was but were looking forward to a wonderful dinner afterward. The crew was terrific and fun but gave us space. I want to note that I enjoyed this sunset cruise because it is my pace and not a booze cruise. However, booze cruises are not bad just not what we were seeking. read more

We LOVED our experience with Sail Maui! We did the 5-hour tour (breakfast through mid-day, snorkeling and whale watching). From the time we first met Dakota to boarding the vessel, we knew that it would be a great day. The captain set just the right tone with an info session that made us feel comfortable yet ready for a fun experience. The adventure started with a nice ride out to sea, looking for whales and enjoying a light breakfast (muffins, croissants, fruit, juices and coffee). Our eagle-eyed captain found plenty of whales for us to admire and we then made our way to our snorkeling spot. The crew made us feel great about jumping into the water and checking out the ocean life. Dakota checked on everyone often and we saw an abundance of fish and turtles. The equipment was top notch, too - right down to the defogger spray :) When we got back on the boat, a nice lunch was waiting, including delicious island-inspired cocktails. The crew made sure that each guest was cared for - from James checking on our drink situation, to Shannon educating us about the whales we continued to see. We had a great ride back to the harbor, stopping to see more whales and even listening to their songs from the ship's hydrophone. Just a great time and great memory to have as a family. Thank you Sail Maui for an AWESOME sunset cocktail cruise. Not only were the views spectacular, the snacks and drinks were great too. As for the staff, they were amazing. They made sure we were never without something to eat and/or drink, made great conversation with us, but most importantly made sure everyone felt safe the entire time. To be honest, Sail Maui deserves 5 stars, however I am substantiated one due to the customer service operators. When you book your cruise, waivers and directions are immediately sent to you. The instructions say to arrive promptly at 4:30, but no specific location except to be at the Lahaina harbor. We get there, and like many other people on our cruise, no one knew what we supposed to do, or where to go. There isn't any Sail Maui signage anywhere. So again, like many other people, I called for more info. To say I was confused on where to go after that conversation is putting it lightly. The only reason my husband and I stayed put is because I saw our catamaran pulling up to the dock at 4:45. Not sure what happened to 4:30, but oh well. Our captain came over, and called out for anyone who was waiting for Sail Maui. He then took roll, and we were in our way. All of this confusion about where to go could have been eliminated by having a sign or something out front so your customers know where to go. Nevertheless though, we had so much fun on our sunset cocktail cruise, and would sail with Sail Maui again. read more

Great crew, fun experience! While the ocean currents at our first stop off the coast of Lahaina were a bit intense, our second stop off Maui was smooth sailing. Family friendly experience, very attentive staff the entire trip. From the small things like taking our trash and bringing us drinks, to keeping us safe while in the water. The boat was clean, had two restrooms aboard, and the kids enjoyed sitting up front while speeding along to our destinations. The highlights for us were seeing the sea turtles, jumping off the side of the boat, sailing for a bit, the strong cocktails the last hour heading back to port, and jamming to a great playlist of music. We took the sunset cruise last night with Jake, Ronnie and Kevin. Let me just say-- PERFECT way to spend our last night in Maui--and quite possibly my favorite (relaxing) thing we did while here. They served the BEST Mai-Tais I've ever had (watch out, they're strong- ha!) and had a delicious spread of appetizers too. The cruise was smooth and flawless. We were so relaxed and well taken care of from start to finish. I strongly recommend sailing on this catamaran with these guys. The weather was perfect with a great breeze. I didn't even need my jacket. Only thing I regret is losing my new sunglasses at the end. Hoping they'll find them for me. One of the guys said he'd dive down today where they docked and check for me. Here's hoping! :) Book them. You'll be glad you did! read more

Absolutely incredible experience with Capitan Nikolaus and his crew Joe, Andy, and Jamie (hopefully I remembered those correctly). Captain Nikolaus was a true comedian the whole trip. We went on a snorkel trip to Lanai and couldn't recommend it enough, even though I didn't snorkel! I'm a baby when it comes to water and fish, but my parents absolutely love it, so I joined them and had a hard time working up the courage to get in the water. The crew didn't pressure me at all and offered to help. I got in but quickly got out due to my own fears but the crew was so supportive. On the way back the crew made a point to stop and watch the dolphins and whales. It wasn't good conditions to sail until half way back to Lahaina, which is when the crew put the sail up. I loved that they took the time to do this, it was so cool to see. Open bar was a great plus and the whole experience was well worth it! read more

Yesterday was one of best experiences we've had sailing in Maui. Capt Chase was in his prime sailing our group for the sunset sail excursion. We did full sailing (about 14 knots) for a good 30+ minutes on a beautiful evening. Love the comment from him "hold on to your hats" at one point. Then we floated at sunset time for all the photo ops. Helpful nice crew took care of everything else. Definitely consider them for your sailing needs in Maui! read more

Sailed on 10/10/2021 and it was AMAZING. The captain and crew made this an absolutely incredible experience aboard a beautiful ship on a perfect Maui day. We sailed far to find clear, calm water (the day before had been windy and storming) and the trip and views were stunning. Everything provided was wonderful, from the gear to the catering to even the sunscreen they had on board for our use (PRO TIP: use it. More than once. Reapply, friends. Maui sunburns are no joke!) What sets this trip apart from others was the crew. Fun, friendly, engaging, 100% there to ensure we had a great adventure, and we absolutely did! Sailing back into head winds there was only one place to be - at the front of the boat taking spray and catching air! It was so much fun to connect with the others on the cruise, and we laughed and had THE BEST time. If you're in Maui, this is the trip for you. I promise, you will be so glad you book your adventure with Sail Maui! (Second pro tip: be sure to bring cash to tip the captain and crew! A few people on our trip were so disappointed to not have any cash on hand, and I totally understand why. We tipped $20/person and I wish I had thought to bring more. We went on the snorkeling trip and we loved it! The boat was amazing, a big, spacious and nice catamaran. The crew was amazing and the food and drinks were great! You really get an amazing experience for a great price point. We saw some turtles and a bunch of fish as well as dolphins. Don't forget to constantly put on sunscreen or you'll get sun burnt ( we only reapplied twice and we all currently look like lobsters).
