Kelly/Kellie/Kelley (however you spell her name!) was the wittiest and most delightful "game master". I wouldn't want to be chained to a wall by anyone else! As the first "escape room" that I have ever participated in, Final Sacrifice was easily something that drew me into this type of adventure. Just challenging enough to make me want to rip my hair out and curse Baruda, and yet so interesting that I can't wait to go back! We failed this time (not too upset, considering the success rate is something like 1%), but I will definitely be back to try again! read more

I finally see what everyone has been saying about these Exit games! They're so friggin' amazing and addictive! I remember playing the app on my phone years ago so I figured, "hey this should be easy!" Boy was I wrongggg! My friend booked us a room at Exit strategy in Charlotte and the managers originally told us that it would just be the four of us in the room: myself and my wife and my friend and her husband. But, when we got there we learned we would be paired with another couple, an older couple, who were "walk-ins". I was a little disappointed at first because I was kinda looking forward to having this first experience with just my friends but in the end I was SO thankful for the other couple! It took all of us, working together, to successfully make it out of the room. And make it out we did! With less than two minutes to spare, we made it out!! How thrilling it was! We did the 70s room and although the folks at exit strategy say 70s is their easiest, for first timers who didn't really know what to expect, it was a good bit of a challenge. Of course I can't give away the clues but I will say, just put your thinking caps on and go for it!! You only have an hour so you have to be quick about it but at the same time you must not rush yourself into making poor decisions that will eat up your time . After making it out that first time, we returned the next day to try what they call their hardest room, "Cabin in the Woods". I won't say why or how but they truly make you WORK for cabin in the woods and they make it much harder for you in every way. I honestly feel they should give you an extra ten-fifteen mins to complete it because it's very difficult. What I didn't like was the fact that they allow up to 10 people into this room which I think is a mistake. I understand that they want you to divide and conquer with each person, or small group, working on different tasks. But all those people in one room really get in the way more than anything else in my opinion. Our time ran out so we didn't make it out which was devastating. Then, when the lady came to let us out she said that we were SO close. In fact, we were only two short moves from finding the key. Ugh! The cool thing is, they have "redemption" or "second chance nights" that are $10 off the original price so you can come back to try again. This second chance is obviously only for people who've done the room before so you get another chance to beat it. Or try to. Everyone at Exit strategy was really nice and very professional. They seem to give unlimited clues if you're stuck in a room and you ask nicely. I heard that some other places only give you three clues...I'm not sure if this is a good or bad thing. Lol . I just know I had a blast playing the game, stretching my brain capacity and meeting new people. I can't wait to go back and I can't wait to try the various Exit games in Atlanta. read more

Exit Strategy - Our group for Murder Mystery! We didn't make it out - this time. - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

Exit strategy is frkn awesome, screw the naysayers. It's very reasonably prices, the staff are amazing. It's a game and it's pretty hard-- which makes it even better. I've done three rooms and have escaped only once. Each time I get better and better but the rooms also get harder and harder. The group in the room makes a huge difference. So if you want to ensure being w/a group of pple like yourself then book the entire room w/10 of your friends - - it's very simple. Or you could just live a little, play a game w/some strangers and work together for an hour - - it's just as simple. I strongly suggest everyone try it at least once. I'm looking forward to escaping the room in other cities I visit. You don't stop going bowling because you've done it a bunch of times in your town. I definitely will do this again! read more

I went here today with my husband and the two kids (20yrs and 12yrs). We were grouped with two other people that we didn't know. I thought that might be weird but it worked fine :). Our overall experience was really great. This was different and interactive fun for the family. We all really enjoyed it and want to go back to do more rooms. I have done escape rooms at work related team building events in Miami and Fort Myers when I held team meetings there. They were a lot of fun, but wow... Exit Strategy right here in my backyard is really, really excellent. They have four rooms now and looks like they're expanding. We did the Murder Mystery room and didn't quite make it out... but had lots of fun! I will definitely bring my work team here at some point. The people who work here are really friendly and the location seems to be really well set up and well run. read more

This will get your noggin to working for sure! Super fun time with friends! I recommend for team building or just something fun and different. And just remember, EVERYTHING means something! read more

We had so much fun that night, Tucker looked great in that jumpsuit and those hints were well needed!

I can't tell you how much fun this is. A group of us did this for my mom's 60th birthday. We didn't know what to expect, but walked away wanting to come back soon and wishing we had one more hour to figure it out the room. You are locked in a room and work together to find clues to get you out. If you have an analytical mind and love puzzles, you must try this. Unfortunately, we couldn't solve the 70s room, but couldn't stop talking about it. It is a really fun hour and a mental challenge. read more

While visiting the Charlotte area, I did a quick search on trip advisor. I came across Exit Strategy it look like a lot of fun and something our entire family would enjoy. After reading about the different rooms we agreed they the "70's" room was the most suitable for us. We were joined by Three others, strangers for only a few moments. A soon as the door closed we all became A team. The age difference was beneficial. Little people and big people putting their minds together to solve the clues and find the key to escape. Time flew by and I think we were all up for another challenge as soon as we finished. I thought it was a little pricey, it a great activity for a family but 25 for adults and 1/2 price for children makes it more of a special occasion outing. However as soon as we got into the car the kids were looking for similar places close to home. We had a great time read more

BEST FUN!! Our group of 5 had no idea what to expect and we were with 5 strangers for Bank Heist. Could not have more fun - great challenge, kept us fully engaged the whole time, great collaborating with everyone, and CAN'T WAIT TO GO BACK! read more

We played the new room, Twisted, and it was amazing!! Mimi made it so fun and spooky for us while giving helpful hints! We currently have the weekly record for it! Definitely one of my favorite exit strategy games I've ever done! read more

We did the Quest of Honor and it is officially my favorite room that I've ever done! From start to finish the staff and game masters did a phenomenal job! We defeated the dragon and recovered the hero's sword! The story line was immersive and captivating, so much so that I was actually worried a dragon might burn us to death if it was defeated! (Also, getting to pretend I was a wizard was pretty freakin' awesome!) I was thoroughly impressed with set design, puzzles, and story line for the Quest of Honor room. When I make it back to Charlotte, I will be sure to visit Exit Strategy again! read more

If the lighting was better perhaps our guide would have seen we had the gear clue to the murder mystery was upside down

Unfortunately, I don't have many positive things to say about our experience tonight at Exit Strategy. The customer service we received was unprofessional and disappointing. Upon reserving our room for this evening earlier this week, we called and confirmed that my 3 year old niece could attend and join us in the escape room. We were told that she could absolutely join us as long as we reserved the whole room and paid full price for her ticket (understandable). We arrived to Exit Strategy with our family of 8, excited to celebrate my sister's birthday. Rather than being welcomed, the first thing that was said to us when we walked in was, "She won't be able to go into the room." (Directed at my niece.) My sister replied that she had already spoken to someone earlier in the week and was assured it was no problem. The Exit Strategy employee asked how old my niece was, then asked who my sister had spoken with, and on what day she had talked to someone. She kept asking for details about who she talked to on the phone. She then went and got another employee, who pulled us over to the side and said there was no way we could take my niece into the room. We told her about calling ahead, and she asked for details about the employee's voice and pushed to figure out who she had spoken to, even going as far to ask, "Did she have an accent?" Side note- I was appalled that they were so insistent on trying to find out who she had spoken to. Why did it matter? An Exit Strategy employee assured her she could attend. What were they going to do if they found out who told my sister that? Fire the employee? Put them on unpaid leave? Very distasteful. If the reasoning was more to find out if a higher up employee promised her my niece could attend, I'm confused as to why they couldn't just contact a higher up employee and ask for permission. Back to the conversation with the second employee- she refused to let us take my niece, even after we asked to sign a waiver that showed we understood it was considered "dangerous" for her to go in. Fast forward to my sister sitting in the waiting room with my niece and the rest of us entering the Quest of Honor Room- there were literally no dangerous items or scenarios that would have put my niece's safety in jeopardy. In addition, we were only given 57 minutes to play our game. Rachel, our game master, came over the walkie talkie and said we were out of time after 56 minutes and came in our room after 57 to stop us. When we addressed this issue, she gave us 3 additional minutes but it was unfortunate because we had already been interrupted. As we walked out, Rachel congratulated us on getting 90% of the way through, which felt like a slap in the face since our time was cut short. Overall, our experience at other escape rooms (such as Breakout Charleston or Escape in 60 in Charleston) has been so much more enjoyable. Hopefully Exit Strategy can improve their customer service experience to allow for honesty, respect, and integrity to shine through. read more

Gone and twisted were great rooms! We loved our game masters Pa and Kelsey! Thanks guys!

If I could provide less than one star, I absolutely would. Because I didn't want to put items on my face or be bound to walk into a room that I paid for, I was not allowed to participate. Pathetic way to run a business when you can't even pay to have the experience you want. read more

What a Great Time! I never thought me and my childhood friends could tie our shoes together let alone win an escape room. Our Game Master Was Kayden and she made the whole experience awesome. Can't wait to go back and conquer another room. read more

Me and my boyfriend came for date night, and it was one of the best escape rooms we have ever done! I believe our game masters name was Hailey (she had blue hair) she was super sweet and gave us really useful clues though out game. We did bank heist and it was super challenging and the rooms/props were very well designed! I definitely recommend! read more

Few things get me as excited as escape the room places and Exit Strategy does not disappoint. Having experienced Escape NYC and Mr. X in Shanghai, the Charlotte version of an escape room lives up to the hype. Carefully crafted, the experience never ceases to surprise you, test your problem solving skills, and maybe even give you a small fright. Recommended for families, groups, co-workers, or anyone really, the experience is fun like you've never had before. I just completed the "Queen City Bank Heist" room and was not disappointed. With room after room of tasks, the story propels you forward and challenges you to think like your character. Not without flaws, the game could still use some tweaks and clarity at a few points, but overall, challenging, engaging, and just plain fun! If you need something fun to do, grab a few people and head over to Exit Strategy! read more

This escape room did NOT meet our expectations; the staff was not engaging whatsoever. They were not excited at all about their work. We did 2 rooms, Twisted and Lost in Space. Lost in Space was more team oriented, however the employee in charge of our rooms was absent at times when we requested guidance. Twisted was a great concept, however the room is VERY linear in its play, often leaving teammates out. Only one task can be worked on at a time, which leaves teammates standing around with nothing to do, which can be extremely frustrating in a timed challenge. This room is new so I'm sure they have kinks to work out, there were lots of neat elements that just perhaps need more fine tuning to make it a better experience. read more

Loved Exit Strategy! We completed Lost in Space and Twisted. Both were unique and had puzzles I hadn't seen at other places. Faith was our game master for Twisted and she was awesome! read more

We had a great time with Pa as our game master. Even though we were a group of three, we managed to make it (just barely) in time through the bank heist room. This room was very interactive and fun! Don't be afraid to ask for hints. :) read more

I love me a good escape room! I came here with my husbands workmates. They work at Bank of America so they thought it would be fun to do the Queen City Bank Heist room. The staff was very kind when we came in. Also, I loved the fact that they had a large waiting room complete with map of people from all over the world and foosball table. When we entered the room, it was in a really cool way and I wont give it away but I loved it. I was frustrated at first because the room was different than ones I have done in the past but it turned out so cool because it had so many interactive and special effects. I will definitely be coming back. Kelly-thanks for making it an awesome experience! By the way, we did get out! read more

Exit Strategy - We set the new record in Quest of Honor! - Escape Games Near Me - Charlotte, North Carolina

My boyfriend and I visited this place and it was so much fun!!! We chose The Mansion even though the website suggest its more complicated with smaller groups. None the less we completed about 60% of it. The staff is friendly and gave us hints whenever we needed them. We probably could have escaped had we not wasted 15 mins on one clue. lol But we enjoyed ourselves and plan on going back soon. read more

This was totally the best escape room I have ever been too. My experience started when we called Alyssa and she was so helpful for are large group She was so helpful. Then we met our escape room employee who helped us his name is Tucker. HE WAS AMAZING!!!!!! He helped us so much and he encouraged us when we got to overwhelmed. His clues and his encouragement helped us escape. He truly was the best. When we got out the room he was jumping with us with excitement it was awesome. I would recommend the bank heist. If you're trying to choose between Exit Strategy and Black Out, definitely go with Black Out. When my group arrived and signed in, the staff was far from welcoming. In fact, they were borderline rude with us. We did the murder mystery room, which was pretty fun but tough enough so we couldn't finish in time even with a few hints. We were about 70% through when the time ran out. Once we were out of time, that was it. No more hints, no way to wrap up our myriads of questions, no time extensions. They just awkwardly led us out of the room and said someone would meet us to discuss further, but nobody came so we just left. I tried Black Out and had a MUCH better experience. Amazing staff, great decor, fun challenges, AND they did everything in their power to help us have a great experience. They even helped us finish our room at the end once we ran out of time. Definitely go with Black Out over Exit Strategy! read more

aiden was absolutely an amazing game master!!! loved this and y'all should definitely go! we didn't make it out but we had an amazing time!

A doctor, a Pilot and three Accountants walk into Exit Strategy, Charlotte, NC... One hour later, we now know which of my friends has the highest - and lowest IQ... Picture this: It's a rainy weekend in Charlotte, NC, and you're wondering what else to do besides walk your dog, drink beer or grocery shop. Exit Strategy will be your new go-to for that last $25 you saved up for beers & the Hornets game. The business description is as follows: "At Exit Strategy, sixty minutes will fly by as you attempt to unlock the door to your escape. Few have beat our rooms and those who did, have earned bragging rights and a place on our wall of fame." We selected our mission - 'Lost in Space' - which was a sixty minute challenge to fix and escape our damaged space ship. We arrived, signed a safety waiver, locked our belogings [includeing cell phones] in a locker and were escorted to our 'room'. The rooms themselves set the stage for their designated theme, so much to my surprise, I walked into a fully decked-out space shuttle! The staff set us up with a walkie-talke for any clues we need/ emergencies and lays out the goals of our mission. The clock begins and teams of friends [or strangers] must think out-of-the-box to solve the various puzzles and unlock clues to ulitmately "free" themselves from their room, and find an 'Exit Strategy'. The various 'rooms' avaliable provide the perfect allure to keep coming back for more! read more
