Don't bother trying to place a To Go order. After multiple different times/days, I've given up. I've had them not pick up the phone, I've been placed on hold for FOREVER and then hung-up on only to call back and hear them clearly chatting up customers about nonsense while ignoring me, etc. I also wouldn't recommend the coffee. It's awful; my Keurig makes better. Lastly, I wouldn't order anything but breakfast. Their lunches are SUPER salty and all taste like they're made with the cheapest canned ingredients. Went there for bfast this morning around 9:30 am. The place is small but it was packed. We opted to eat outside since no one including the owner, workers or patrons were wearing masks. We were there for 1.5 hours sitting outside waiting for our food and eventually the owner came out to tell us the grill broke. Adorable stop for breakfast in Exeter! Cute inside and out, and we adored the outdoor tables to enjoy the weather. They were having a busy morning and we were the only ones outside because they didn't have a table that would fit us inside, but despite that, we got wonderful service from the very friendly waitress. It took a little while to get our place settings and get service, and food took a moderate amount of time to come out. Overall it was pretty good. Hash browns were a tad greasy in our opinion. The salsa that came with an omelette was delicious!!! Two people in our party shared an omelette and had more than enough food. read more

This was a random last minute Yelp pick. Definitely an overall success. We had just got done walking Rocky Hill and felt like having something good to eat. We are very happy we chose this spot. It is THE cutest little place. And when I say little, I mean little. With its train decor and an actually small train those moves right above your head, it is definitely charming and a HUGE success with the kids. Breakfast is by far a 5/5. I had the Reuben and wasn't very thrilled. The sauerkraut was not flavorful, was almost dry, and the bread was overly buttered So when I went to eat the sandwich it literally dripped out. That is the only reason I gave 4/5. The breakfast was amazing. One of my friends had eggs white with hash browns, bacon, and an English muffin. She was very pleased. My other friend had an omelette with hash browns and I had her biscuits and gravy which were home made and OUT OF THIS WORLD. Coffee tasted bad, bacon was stale, not of color and had no flavor wasn't edible, my gravy had a sweet flavor to it, got a stomach ache 30 minutes after leaving. Owner I'm guessing tried to be funny at times but came across as very rude. Over priced will not be returning. Way overrated. read more

Been dining here since my son was a wee one. The owner, is extremely friendly, very sweet and will chat your ear off. The food comes out hot and fresh. Love their vegetarian omelette, and country potatoes. The biscuits and gravy are great too. Big, fluffy biscuits made by Sherry (owner) herself. Regulars are the main clientele here, and the small town charm is extra noticeable here. The decor is something else here as well. The building is made to look like a caboose, and on the inside there is an overhead train set that actually works. Sherry will start it for the kids every time. Thank goodness for this place! The road from LA to Sequoia Nat'l park is LONG and filled with fried trucker food. Then all of a sudden you drive through this cute ass town called Exeter and your trusty Yelp app will lead you here. Hubby and I needed a quick, filling, delicious lunch... ALL expectations were met. My first time going and i had a horrible experience! the owner purposely waited to check me out at the register while she stood there staring at me doing nothing. I waited for about 10 min while my food was on the counter ready. It was cold by the time i left and soggy. I never fully understood when Yelpers extolled, "The food was fresh". Food can still be good without being fresh. Like an avocado or steak doesn't need to be fresh to be tasty. I have come to realize that the "fresh" compliment isn't how long the food has been sitting around after being picked, but a comment that the food had been frozen or canned. Or even worst, the dish had been made on a prior day and reheated or microwaved. It's sad that fresh is considered a high expectation, but I'll save that rant for another day. I can definitely say that the Californian omelet made here was fresh with bacon and tomato folded into the fluffy eggs and then topped with melted cheddar cheese and avocado. With three eggs, hash browns, and an English muffin, it was more than enough food to put me into bear hibernation. It was one of the best restaurant omelets I've had in a long time. I can definitely say that the corned beef was not fresh, but came from a can. It was one of the worst corned beef hashes I've had in a long time. As others have noted, the model train doesn't run continuously. It's actually bad to run the engine for prolonged periods of time. If you want to see it run, ask the waitress and she'll turn it on for a while. read more

I can't eat gluten so I'm going off of looks and other people's lip-smacking!). As far as gluten-free options: They make their own ranch, potato salad, etc. so they can guarantee that it's ok to eat. This is just an absolutely GREAT Breakfast/Lunch traditional American diner; It's very small, but does have a couple of outdoor tables, out front. (Pet friendly, because of this and ALSO, just because the nice lady that owns and runs the place likes pups!). The railroad decor, is nothing short of charming and the 2 large scale electric railroad trains, running around a wooden track suspended from the ceiling, are REALLY cool! (I've watched little boys just stare at the trains, while shoveling hash browns in, on numerous occasions!). But here, the food is the MAIN thing. The Owner, Sheri, sees that pretty much everything is cooked, boiled, fried or baked, on premises. I'm a big fan of her various Omelets. The Roast Beef Hash is incredible and her seasonal fruit salads are great. Be careful with the Pancakes (Which are light, fluffy & excellent, as well!) because they are HUGE! As big around as a dinner plate! Now, although her Country Fried Potatoes are excellent, this place has, (Hands down!!!) the absolute BEST, Hash Browns I have ever eaten, PERIOD, ANYwhere in the world, EVER! And I have eaten in 46 different countries and 49 US States. I was an over the road trucker for 5 years and I have eaten a LOT of damn Hash Browns! If you eat here, the Hash Browns are a must! If you like'em extra crispy, have them crisp BOTH sides! Homemade cakes and pies, made on premises, are killer good too! And the Hot Roast Beef Sandwich for Lunch is great! This is a great stop, if you on your way into, or out of, Sequoia National Park. Be sure and take a drive down this little town's Main St. (Pine St, actually...), (The Whistle Stop Cafe, is situated about 50 feet off of the Main St.) it's GORGEOUS, with beautiful murals and Antique Shops and Boutique businesses all over the place!
