I'm 5'3" and I have difficulty finding pants that fit correctly. Pants are always too long, even if they are a petite cut. .I was referred to Exclusive Alterations by a co-worker and I'm glad I tried them out. Not very honest with pricing. I brough a pair of jeans and a blouse to be altered. I was given a ticket with two charges which added to a total. When I return to pick up my items I was told they had forgotten to include the charge for the jeans. They said the two charges on the ticket were both for the blouse. I was asked to pay $10 more than originally written on the ticket or they would not return my jeans. This was not a very honest move. I am never returning. read more

I took a slimmer belt to get altered. All I needed was one zipper move back further. I went on Tuesday and she told me it wouldn't be ready till Friday...? (Your only moving one zipper?) Anyway lady was very nice and its a old feeling shop. Price was fair....quality of the sewing was good but the zipper was put on crooked. read more

They did a pretty lousy job raising the hem on an old BMs dress of mine. I wasn't expecting much from them considering the price (which is very reasonable compared to say gassane tailors), but they did botch it a bit. I'm going to take it back to see if they'll fix it. We've used Doris for many years. She has remade wedding dresses that we thought would be impossible. She repaired a leather coat that the dog chewed and it looks fantastic. We drive quite a long ways to go there and couldn't be happier. Whenever I look at something that looks challenging, I just say, take it to Doris, she'll figure it out. read more

I found the perfect pair of jeans at Nordstrom Rack for Thanksgiving. The only problem with my awesome purchase was that the jeans' length and my leg length didn't match. They never do. :( I of course, waited until 2 days before Thanksgiving to think about getting them hemmed. I called all over north Austin and everyone else laughed at me when I asked if they could be ready on such a short timeline. Not Doris. She told me to drive right over and that's what I did. I got there, she had me try them on, she pinned them up and sent me on the way promising they'd be ready the very next day. When I arrived the next day they were ready and the hem line matched the rest of the stitching perfectly. (This is very very important to me. It's the details ya know?) They fit great, were the correct length, ready then next day and for a measly 13 bucks? Are you kidding me? Also, in my haste to write her a check (because I had forgotten that she does not accept cards) I accidentally wrote the amount for thirty instead of thirteen. She called me the next business day and told me what happened and that she had 17 dollars at her shop waiting for me. What an honest woman. I'm not taking my business anywhere. I have been going to this place for over 10 years now. When I moved further out, I tried a few other places that were closer to me, but no one could come close to the quality of work. I have to have almost every pair of pants I buy taken in at the waist, and Doris' girls do such a good job you can never ever tell that it is not the original waistband. It is all in the fitting - Doris does this step herself, taking her time and using more than a dozen pins so that the fit is perfect. I always try them on when I pick up, just to be sure she got it right, but have only had to have one pair redone, ever. I won't go any place else. I like that the price is quoted up front, though I do wish she would take credit cards. I've had to run across the parking lot to the bank ATM before, since I don't carry a checkbook! read more

Doris is so awesome! I bought a dress for a formal one day, realized it didn't fit, went in the next day, & had her hem and alter it all in one day & picked it up the next day, which was the day of the formal. She is super nice. AMAZING! & anything for a great price... I'm sure. I will go to her if I ever need anything again. read more
