My car got rear ended and I randomly found Exceptional Auto Body online and saw some good reviews, so I brought my car in. I am extremely happy with the result. The back bumper, light and trunk were all smashed and when I got it back, you would have never know the car had been in an accident. The parts were ordered straight from the Honda dealer, and the car looked great. The paint, is an exact match. Exceptional went above and beyond, because my front bumper had damage from a previous fender bender, and they took care of that as well. The car looks as good as new, it was cleaned inside and out and they even waxed it! They offered to help get me a car rental when I first dropped off my vehicle, asked if a needed a ride and took the car rental when I came in to pickup my car. Unbelievable quality work and attention to detail. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone and if I ever need work done, I will be taking my car here. read more

My nearly brand new Honda Accord was head butt by a deer. Since Exceptional was on the "approved" insurance list (and had done body work on my husband's SUV), I brought my car to them for the repairs. Everything about them is exceptional - from the greeting, to the on-going customer service and repairs. They also made the Enterprise pick-up and drop-off quite easy. The car was returned in brand new condition (new hood, bumper, grill, etc). Not only did they do the needed repairs, but cleaned the vehicle inside and out. I would highly recommend them. read more

Car would not start after work in Southboro. AAA called and they sent Sean from Exceptional AAA road service. I knew I would need a battery soon but Sean looked over the situation and he found that the battery was OK. His feeling was that it was the fuel pump. Had car towed by Exceptional Towing to Exceptional Automotive to have it worked on (charged for distance even though they were repairing). Next day, after I called 4 times, I was told I needed an new alternator and battery. Being 30 miles away, what choice did I have. Finally picked up car Friday late afternoon and drove home. Following morning, car would not start. Had it towed and local repair man tried to start and said that it was not a battery issue. Looking further, he found that the fuel pump was bad. Guess Sean was correct. So after paying for alternator, I then had to pay for a fuel pump. Not too impressed with quality of work of mechanic when a field person comes up with problem and he does not. I am not saying I did not need an alternator, but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth to have to deal with car not running after spending $$$ to have it start only once and go through having it towed again and spend even more $$$. read more

I brought my 2015 Camry SE to Exceptional After an accident, per recommendation from Geico, my insurance company. Sean was my "advisor" and got me in for an appointment the same day as my accident! Brought my new Mitsubishi Outlander Sport here after a fender bender. There were no complains from start to finish as I have Gieco insurance and used their express repair program. Only snag were the days they said my car would be ready for pickup- being told one day in the AM and then getting a call later the same day that it's ready to go...but no big deal really. What I really appreciated was this- I had Plasti Dipped the stock chrome trim around the grill and fog lights. I figured that they would just replace it with chrome stock again so I'll just re-dip it. However, when I picked up my car to my surprise they order a black trim for the grill and kept the dipped fog light trim. I truly appreciated the fact that they noticed the trim prior and made the effort to return my car in not only "looks like new" condition but also how I wanted it to look sans-chrome. read more

I had my car repaired here twice. The first time I thought maybe it was just me being picky, the second time I now know they are not a very good auto body shop. My car was damaged in the side and the front. The side was fixed very poorly, there was an area that is under the door lip where the paint had chipped and was damaged, and that was not fixed at all. The area in the side also had a dent and you can still see the exact spot where the damage was because the dent was not fixed perfectly. The front repair was fixed poorly as well. There are at least 5 "fish eyes" in the paint. This is where a spot of dust or something else in the air landed on wet paint after it was sprayed. I was VERY disappointed. When I noticed the issues, I walked around the place to check it out some more. The detail area is right next to the paint booths so all the dust they stir up is right there near the paint area. I also noticed the two paint booths are only used some times. They also paint in the center area that is not sealed from dust. An extremely disappointing experience overall and I will NOT be back. read more

My review is 2 stars for the time management/customer service. The work itself was good, but the experience was the pits. I got an initial estimate from another shop, and granted the guy took a quick look at the car, but he told me approx $2500 and 7 days. Then I call my insurance company Liberty Mutual and they tell me I can go to any shop I want, but the only one in my area which they "guarantee" is Exceptional, and that this is a 1 stop shop where they will do the estimate and repairs all at 1 location. So ok, I go in on the date Liberty scheduled for me, the guy takes a quick look at my car and says it's going to take longer than a week (but doesn't tell me exactly how long) and that he can't even start until the following week. Well I do not have rental coverage so I said I would bring my car back the next week. I come back on the following Monday and drop the car off, and the shop calls me Thursday to say the estimate has been approved (at a little over 4K mind you). So they have had my car for 4 days and not even started working on it yet, and the price is almost double what the other shop quoted me. Great. I remind the woman on the phone that I am paying daily for a rental car and that I really need them to get moving on the actual work. Fast forward to the following Monday. I get a call that the parts needed (a rear panel and bumper) are in. So wait I say...they STILL haven't actually started the work yet?? Again I remind her that this is costing me tons in rental fees. She says sorry this is normal. I get another call at the 2 week point. They tell me the parts are painted and will be put on the car next. WTF?!! I ask to speak to the guy who initially looked at my car. She says hold on, then comes back and says he's busy. So he's basically refusing to speak to me. Finally on day EIGHTEEN I get my car back. Yes it looks great (though smells like paint thinner or something), but I ended up paying over $800 in rental car fees in addition to my $500 deductible. If I had known they were going to be this friggin slow I clearly would have gone somewhere else. There were no apologies. No discounts for the time and trouble. Just the response that this is a normal time line in their opinion. Well sorry people but your time management sucks and I will never go there again, nor will I recommend anyone else go there. read more

these guys are great. My car died as I was driving down 495. I called AAA and a tow truck driver from Exceptional came and got me and my car. He told me his company fixes cars and towed my car to their shop which was closed because it was Sunday. Exceptional just called to tell me my car is ready - they repaired it for $200 less than the estimate they gave. They could have really taken advantage of me and I appreciate their honesty. As a side note, as a result of this adventure I also learned about a phenomenal Brazilian restaurant in their neighborhood - Terre Brasilis - I asked the tow truck driver for a place for me to wait for my husband & this is what he recommended - he even drove me there in the tow truck. LOUSY SERVICE!! They have no sense of time management!!! Wasted three hours of my life waiting for their tow truck that never came!!! The lady over the phone initially promised an hour.. After making another call TWO HOURS later, she said the driver is on his way and will be here in 15 MINS.. After that we waited for almost ANOTHER HOUR AND THE TRUCK WAS STILL NOT HERE!!!! We had to leave the house and had to cancel. What an irresponsible company with empty promises.. Poor service!! I have a 2005 Mazda 6 and came here after I was rear ended to replace my rear bumper. After 4 days in the shop, I came to get my car. They placed the wrong bumper on my car. I called them up and they said they would replace it once they found the correct one. I waited a month when the called me to bring it back to have it replaced again. So I did and they put the same wrong bumper on my car for the second time. I tried to explain to them that it's not right, my rear exhausts stick out so much and makes my car not look right. I explained this to the guy that works there and wanted to show him pics of what it should look like but I felt like he thought I was crazy and didn't bother to look at the pics on my phone. They said they would call me when they've found the right one. That was back in July 2015 and now it's April 2016 and I haven't heard anything. I'm stuck with this hideous bumper. I wish I had my original damaged bumper back. read more

I had a dent in the corner of my front bumper on my BMW 328XI. I was worried that it would not look great when I took it in, but Sean assured me it would look just like brand new. Well, viola, just like new when they were done. Fast work, seems perfect to me (and I am picky) and very reasonable price as I did not make a claim on my insurance but paid it out of pocket. I wasn't sure what to expect based on the mixed reviews on Yelp, but since this is the only Geico-approved body shop in my area, I decided to go with it. I was involved in a front end collision when a person pulled out from a stop sign without looking and pulled right in front of me on a main road. Exceptional has proven to indeed be exceptional in my experience. While there were a few delays in my repairs, they always were very courteous every time I spoke with someone, and they always kept me updated on the status via text messages. When I got to pickup my car, I asked that someone review all the repairs with me. Sean Meisenheimer came over and went over every detail on paper and described all the repairs and notes on my summary form. He was very patient and had no complaints in reviewing everything. He then went outside with me to go over the car and answered every question I had. He also explained that with cars that have less than 20k miles, all the replacement parts of from the dealer and they often run into delays when the dealers don't send them the parts right away. Once Exceptional has the parts, they can turn the car around fairly quickly, but if the dealer doesn't send them right away, their hands are tied. That seems very reasonable to me, and I appreciate that he told me why there were delays. After I picked up the car, I noticed one of the badges on the front bumper was slightly different than the one I had on there before. I contacted Sean about it and he immediately got the different badge from VW and replaced it on my car that week with no hassle. Other than this, the repairs seem fantastic, and I can't tell that the car was involved in a collision. I'm very happy with their service. read more

I have never been spoken to or treated as poorly by a business as I was here. And by the owner no less. We dropped the car off for a three hour appointment, but told them we would not be picking it up until the next day. So more than 24 hours later we came to get the car and are told it is not ready. They had the car for five days, for a three hour installation project. The owner was insulting and aggressive in his demeanor and I walked away horrified at the way he treated us, a paying customer. I will never step foot in this establishment again and would urge others to take their business elsewhere. There's no shortage of body shops nearby and you would find better customer service dealing with a wild animal. (And for the record I observed similar behavior on the owners part, this time directed at his employee, when we dropped the car off.) Do not get involved with this business. read more

Should be ZERO star for this place for these reasons: They do not stand behind their repairs Pathetic customer service Repair delays Through GEICO I went to them for the repairs and on the outside they did a very good job...the car looked like new...but just like the saying don't judge the book by its cover I am always skeptical since the quality of internal fixes is hard to gauge in the beginning. But since they gave written lifetime workmanship warranty I felt comfortable. They took 6 weeks to fix the car when originally stipulated 3 weeks...to me that is lack of professionalism...if you are busy please make sure you convey that to the customer upfront. I did not complain. Anyways, 2 months down the line, I found out that they did not fix the cracked windshield washer fluid container (part of the accident damage) and it was leaking out all the fluid. First time I called them, this lady LINDA (i believe) spoke to me very professionally, got all my information and assured me SEAN (the repair guy) will get back to me if not that day within 48 hours. After not hearing anything from them, I called back 2 weeks later and spoke to the same lady LINDA. She behaved like this is the first time she was hearing about my issue and again made me explain the whole story to her and again she promised me that SEAN will get in touch. No response for another 2 weeks. I still gave them the benefit of doubt and called back again. It was the same story again...LINDA behaved like she was hearing this the first time and asked me to give her all the information AGAIN!!!!!. At this point I freaked out and told her that what they are doing is highly unprofessional and I hung up. It has been 2+ weeks and they have not even try to contact me to resolve the issue. This review is not about getting them to fix my car. I would not let them fix my car even if they pay me for it. Who knows to what level an unethical business can go. But I want to make sure the others are aware of their practices. I will be getting the fix done by another mechanic. Also, during the repairs my inspection sticker expired because they took longer than expected. They did nothing about it by themselves and when I went to pick up the car I couldn't drive the car out of the lot. The signs of trouble were there all along!!! GEICO is going to hear about this as well. read more

From the interaction with my Geico rep, to the counter staff and the regular communication about my vehicle's progress - it all was very helpful, stress-free and professional. Service was great! Everyone was super friendly, right at the counter rest to say hi and help, and my car looks fantastic! I had been rear ended and the bottom part of my bumper was hanging off. They ordered the parts and got my car in and out in just a few days, as well as working with enterprise to set up a rental car for me through insurance. When I got my car back it looks brand new, they smoothed out the scratches and smoothed out the paint. Embarrassingly they even vacuumed it out for me..thank you guys so much for everything!! read more

This is the only place I will bring my car for work not covered by warranty. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to get a car repaired elsewhere and been taken advantage of for not being a car expert myself or just made uncomfortable. This place is awful. John, one of the mechanics, actually seems to be a great guy. He's very nice. However, the work they have done to my girlfriend's car has just been awful. After working on it, in a timely manner they towed the car to our house and the battery was dead. So dead the car locks would not work. the next day they came and towed it back to the shop and kept it for A WEEK to fix this problem which they've somehow created. They towed it back and the next day we got into the car and guess what? Battery dead. They come and tow it back and work on it for another 4 days. They tow it back to our apartment and guess what? Battery dead! Each of these times they say they have fixed whatever it is that they broke. They still have the car (and have had it for another 5 days for this third little go-around) and supposedly it's all fixed now and they said they were going to tow it back to us today. Well that never happened and they still have the car. They didn't call to tell us they were keeping it either. My girlfriend had to call and deal with some girl Cathy who answers phones there who is very rude and even had the gall to hang up on my girlfriend. We are going on 3 weeks for the service they were supposed to do and I just cannot believe that they have not fixed the thing yet! Absolutely unreal and unacceptable. This place's only saving grace is that guy John because he really does seem like a solid dude but 3 weeks and 6 trips on a tow truck and it still isn't fixed? Come on... UPDATE: They were supposed to tow the car back to us last night. They didn't and they didn't call either. Today they wouldn't return our calls and as of this writing they haven't returned the car to us. The lady answering the phone told us to call back Monday! This is just unbelievable... read more

Some idiot t-boned me as he backed out of his driveway across the street from where I was parallel parking. Crushed my driver's side door and wrecked the driver's side passenger door. Had my car delivered to Exceptional on a Friday night and was driving it by the following Wednesday. half of the reviews below that are remotely positive , are all fraud reviews from family and friends of the business. I am an actual consumer that got in a car accident on a Sunday. They're usually closed , but these guys have the gall to tow your vehicle on a closed day but wont let you retrieve your belongings from said vehicle on these closed days. then they charge you for each day they hold the vehicle. on top of that , they dont even do detailed appraisals for motor vehicle incidents correctly . they do "visual appraisals " that take more than 2 and a half days to report back to you . When you ask for a specific line by line report they will tell you something along the lines of "we take external and internal damage" into account. hard to see how that is when I couldn't even get a specific figure for fixing the damages. They're quick to claim a car as a total loss so the insurance company pays out less and they keep the car as salvaged. from there they will fix the car at an extremely lower rate then auction it off as rebuilt. dont trust a place like this. place is a joke. read more

My car died in a parking lot; the two gentlemen from Exceptional Towing provided quick and courteous service on a cold rainy Saturday. They tried several times to start my car, and when they couldn't they took it to my local auto body shop and dropped off the key for me as well. They could not have been nicer and I would use them again anytime I need a tow. I highly recommend them. read more

Disgusted. I dropped my car off the night before to get an inspection sticker. They called me the next day to say the car didn't pass b/c of an exhaust leak. $667 to fix it. I went and got the car back and the engine sounded HORRIBLE, but it sounded fine the night before. This time the guy that hit me was uninsured so I had to pay for a rental car out of pocket, but Rob knew that and kept the repair time down to a week. Went in for a quote on some damage to the passenger side door. This was the first place I went to, but their quote seemed really high to me. After I went to the place in downtown Natick and they quoted it and fixed if for $1200 less than these guys said and it looks great. My $362 brake repair turned into a $2083 repair job and not having a car for 21 days thanks to Exceptional Auto Body. I have needed a tow for my older vehicle to take it for repairs when it is undriveable (brake problems, fuel pump, etc.). I have had AAA arrange for towing, Exceptional Auto Body has towed it a few times now. However the last time they towed it they cracked the oil pan when they picked it up from my driveway. They and/or AAA took so long and were so unresponsive that I had to call in my own insurance company to resolve the issue after 14 days of getting the run around from AAA/Exceptional. Hey stuff happens, I think that the damage was caused either by poor training or it was just an accident. Either way the principal of the thing is they should have stepped up and taken care of it like responsible business people. Beware! read more

Work was excellent, staff was helpful - they worked with my insurance co. so I didn't have to do much; they arranged for a rental car and even faxed the estimate to the other driver's insurance co. There was a little confusion in the beginning about getting the appraisal, but I blame my claims adjuster for some of that. read more

if i can give a 5 star for front desk I will because they were awesome and very nice, but the person who was dealing with my car did a bad job.. told him about a few light not working after the accident, told me that has nothing to do with the accident, i was not satisfied on the job they did on my bumper, they did a bad job with matching the color with car.. and just did a bad job replacing the bumper, it was not put on correctly.. worker was giving me a hard time when I told him I was not satisfied, he kept telling me that my insurance was not going to have them change the color of my bumper, he was just awful.. will not be taking my car here again.. read more

As good as it gets. Six years ago I was involved in an accident (not at ALL my fault) that resulted in over $14,000 worth of damage to my car. I had the repairs done at Exceptional. It was such smooth sailing all the way then, that this time when I experienced a fender bender, I checked to see if Liberty Mutual still carried them as a Preferred Provider. I was delighted I could return although not thrilled that I needed ANY Auto Body Shop. I can't believe I've read any negative reviews here. From the moment I walked through the door, the experience was unbelievably painless for an auto body repair. I was greeted warmly by friendly,experienced and knowledgeable personnel (THANKS, Lisa!) who totally explained the procedure. I received two communications during the time my car was in the shop (WAY TO GO, Donna!) that were pleasant, complete and upbeat. Most important, the work on my Highlander was done professionally and yet so fast. When I pushed to get a commitment to having the work done by the end of the week (like who doesn't need the car back 'yesterday'??), Sean said they would try their best but "wouldn't sign in blood" and Lisa insisted, "You want GOOD not just FAST" . I much prefer an honest answer like that. No wonder they've received several awards for Customer Service. From my experience, their service rivals the best ... like Amazon. The work was professionally done well and quickly, the communication was stellar, the staff top notch and I left with the feeling that my business (although this time the expenses just a fraction of my first experience) was definitely valued and appreciated. Nothing like driving off in a clean, repaired car that seemed better than new. Simply A M A Z I N G.
