On a sunday night i left my car right outside my house, it was parked where it was supposed to be, and they towed my car, at around 9 and i went to look for my car at the exceptional towing and in there they were being very agressive towards me and one of the towing conductors called me a "Son of a bitch" and a told me i was "full of shit" and then continued to yell at me even more and in one of those times they told me to go fuck myself and that i was a whore. Just got my car back to fix the rear bumper - I was rear ended a few months ago. I think the paint match is perfect. This shop returned the car to me in like new condition- wash, waxed, wheels scrubbed, tires shiny, all exterior plastic parts buffed, etc. Interior was spotless too. I was like ... WOW! Not only that, I busted my passenger side mirror and scuffed the paint on the mirror cover. I mentioned that I was planning on replacing the mirror and wanted to see how much to have the cover painted since the bumper has to be painted anyway. Robert said NO WAY... You cant do it! Ran up a sidewalk and into a mulch patch not expecting that to be $4K worth of damage to my bumper : ( Fortunately, Exceptional Auto Body fixed my car--and forced my insurance to extend my rental until they got the right part for me (they ended up having to purchase the OEM as the off-market product they ordered didn't fit right). This body shop takes pride in its work, and nowadays, you simply can't take this for granted. This place is a pearl. The manager is both pleasant and straightforward--very easy to work with. The front desk team is absolutely lovely and will go out of their way to help folks work with their insurance companies (I witnessed this while waiting in the queue), and all in all when you are already stressed out about your insurance and high deductibles, it's nice to know that you don't actually have to worry about your car itself. First off, 2 days after I drop off my car, my credit card numbers were stolen. Now these guys have had my car for 3 weeks, for a new bumper and a fender, all in total about $1900. All that time I've been paying for a rental car, for an additional $600 bucks. To put that into perspective I've had $24000 dollars damage to a car (air bags radiator, whole front end) and it was done in 5 weeks. These guys are crooks, and must be in Kahoots with the rental car company to make more money, on top of scamming people's credit cards. To top it off, my car was ready to go tonight (literally it was in the customer parking lot, and done), as I went to pick it up and they told me that I couldn't because of paper work. I called Geico and they told me it was done, and they could give it to me. That "Paperwork" lie cost me at least an extra 35 dollars. If they are willing to lie about something so stupid and easily provable, then what do they do about things that aren't. Update, I got my car back. After I complained they detailed the interior with some chemical that I am allergic too. My hands are covered in hives from touching the interior. read more

Never have I ever been treated so poorly at an auto body. My car broke down one night after starting to shake. When I went to turn my car back on, the engine wouldn't turn over. AAA came over and decided it wasn't a battery issue (my electric was working fine and they were able to get the engine to turn over when jumping it), but whenever I took my foot off the pedal, the car would die again. The tech told me he thought it was a fuel pump issue. My car was towed to Exceptional because I was told they offer a AAA discount (FYI - they do not). I live in Waltham, so this wasn't particularly convenient for me. The next afternoon I was called by the girl at the front desk who said my car was ready to be picked up; there were no issues. I asked her to transfer me to the mechanic. I spoke with John, who is supposedly the manager, who was extremely condescending and repeatedly told me nothing was wrong with my car. He said he "ran the car for half a day and drove it over 10 miles and it stayed on no problem". When I told him what the AAA said about it being a fuel pump he said "I don't know what to tell you, I can't make your car not work". So I pick my car up around 3:45, drive it 2 minutes down the street to get gas and what do you know, the check engine light comes on! I bring it back to the shop just to be told all the techs are gone for the night and I'll have to leave it overnight again. (Remember, I live a half hour away from this place). The next morning John calls me to say "So once you drove it to get gas, we were able to run a code on it and it needs a new EGR valve..." so yeah, guess something was wrong with my car, right? $600 later, I'm told they are going to knock off "BOTH diagnoses fees". I had already paid a diagnosis fee on the first day when I picked up my "perfectly fine car". I was told that "that fee is completely separate and they took off the diagnoses fees for the EGR valve". I shouldn't be paying a single diagnosis fee for their mistakes. Additionally, in my experience, most shops knock off the diagnosis fee altogether once you pay for the repair. Apparently they don't, even when they mess up. I was told I'd get a call back from John about this; this was 5 days ago. I'm eating the $90 even though I absolutely should not be. The customer service is absolutely horrendous, they are rude and condescending and not once did I receive a simple apology from them for anything. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this shop. read more

I was in an accident in February amidst the worst winter in several years, and filed a claim with GEICO in order to get my car fixed. I needed to take my car here since this was one of the closest places for the claims adjuster to assess the damage on my car and it is one of their Auto Repair Xpress locations. I had previously also obtained some independent quotes on the damage of the car and this place was the cheapest. This place is definitely not known for their customer service. (Maybe they were overloaded at this time of year with all the accidents going on this winter.) I dropped my car off on 2/18/15 and the repair was delayed 3 times from the original completion date of 2/25/15. Each time I had to chase them down by calling them numerous times to receive a status update, even though they said they would give me a call back. I spoke with Sean and here's the timeline of my conversations. 2/20 - Sean originally told me that my car would be done miraculously, but he actually mixed up my car with someone else's. This is a great start... 2/25 - He told me they had ordered imperfect hoods for my car and the new date would be Friday 2/27. Ok no big deal, just a little annoyed. 2/27 - Unexpected delays... now it won't be done until next Monday/Tuesday. I have to reschedule my oil change again now. 3/3 - Finally they admit that they ordered the WRONG parts last Thursday, which they should have told me in the first place. It won't be done now until Friday 3/6. 3/6 - Received a call from the GEICO claims adjuster that it is lo' and behold finally done. Despite the frustrating customer service experience, upon initial inspection of the repair everything looks good for now. I will update the review if in the long run it proves otherwise. They also cleaned the exterior and interior of the car. The overall finished product looks alright so the rating evens out to 3 stars. Not sure if I would want to go back again since it's also not the most convenient location to drive to from Newton. read more

I was sent a truck from this company from AAA. They arrived in 1 hr. They would not allow my 5 lb poodle in a crate in the truck to the dealership. They were going to leave me on the side of the road. They also overcharged me for mileage. 14 min (9.1 mi) via I-95 S and US-1 S/Boston-Providence Turnpike. They charged me $40.00 for 6 miles since AAA covered first 3 miles. they owe me 10.00 plus the extra time I spent waiting for a ride to take me to dealership. read more

So I had gotten into a pretty bad accident and my insurance (Geico) told me they're taking my car here to be repaired. Car was towed there, had to wait a bit for my insurance to finish their appraisal (took forever, but that's Geico's fault per usual) then they got started working on my car. I will say the only thing that was annoying was that the estimate to finish my car was 2 weeks. The last day I called and a woman told me my car was finished and I could pick it up by Monday morning. So of course I planned out my regular work schedule to be per usual since I would've had my car back. Get a text early in the AM stating that they would need another week or more to work on my car. I was very frustrated seeing as how I made a work schedule already in place. Sean (I think manager?) said he apologized for the misinformation and after talking to him he paid for a rental for the rest of my repairs. For this, I give 5 out of 5. Because even though it was an issue they rectified it very appropriately. Also, so far the car looks BRAND new out of the shop. HOWEVER, will update this review in case of anything. AAA dispatched this company to change a flat time for me in a parking lot. Ironically, there was a young man in a car parked right next to me who also had called AAA for assistance and was waiting for the same company tow truck. The AAA update informed us both simultaneously that our tow truck had arrived. The other man intimately needed to be towed. I asked the tow operator if he was going to change my tire also. He said no, he could only do one thing at a time. I said I would gladly wait while he got the other vehicle ready for towing and he said he was not going to change my tire on my pick up truck because it is a pain and might take 20 minutes. I waited 40 minutes for him to arrive in the first place and AAA said he was there to assist me. The driver was rude and obviously not customer oriented. He made no offer to call his garage and ask them to send another truck or any other assistance. I had to start the process all over again and wait for another truck. This guy should not be in contact with any customers and AAA should consider whether or not this establishment reflects the service support that they want to provide for their customers. I have complained to AAA also. The only reason I gave this two stars is because their second driver, Eric V was kind and courteous and represented the company well. SEXIST TOW TRUCK DRIVER REPEATEDLY ARGUED WITH ME ABOUT BEING TOWED As I was driving to an appointment, my car showed a warning light for low tire pressure. I could tell one tire was very low. A mechanic successfully inflated all tires. I know it's normal for the warning to stay on for a little while but it stayed on too long. Sure enough, when I pulled over again, I found that all tires had lost pressure. I called AAA to tow me to an auto shop. I explained what had happened. The driver repeatedly argued with me over my request. He said that I should drive my car home after I told him it would be a 25 mile drive using I 90, I 95 and 495. I said I would not put the safety of myself and others in jeopardy. He said that the warning light is supposed to stay on. I had already said that I knew this but it had been on too long. The driver pointed out an auto mechanic shop next door and said I should go there. I said no. I thought it was unlikely they could fix my tires that day, which means I would have to call AAA again and possibly wait another 60 minutes. Second, I wanted to go to the auto shop that I know and trust. Again, this man stated that the tire warning lights stays on after the tires are inflated. He asked, "Are you a new driver?" I am a forty year old woman with gray hair framing my face. I interpret this question to be, "Are you a dumb driver?" A man named Gavin deBecker once said of American society, "When a man says 'no,' it's the end of a discussion. When a woman says 'no,' it's the beginning of a negotiation." I find it very hard to imagine him asking such a patronizing question of a man. I find it infuriating that I had to persuade this man to do his job. Not only did he insult my driving skills, he tried to persuade me to ignore common sense: If all your tires lose air after 20 minutes, something is wrong. He basically told me to ignore my self protective instincts and jeopardize the safety of myself and numerous other drivers. BY THE WAY, TWO OF MY TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I called AAA for a tow to a local shop and they sent this company. The driver proceeded to tell me that the shop was further away then the map claimed, and insisted that I pay $20 cash up front to get it there. I had him call the dispatcher to confirm and get this sorted out, and a woman named Kristen decided to call me (turned out to be the receptionist at the shop this man worked at) giving me a huge attitude and also claiming that the shop was further away and requires extra fees. Turns out they "had the wrong address and no cell service" and it was all a "mistake." When my partner came out to see what the problem was, the tow mans attitude suddenly changed and he acted like I didn't understand anything. They were trying to take it to their shop instead of the one up the road that I told AAA to have it towed too. In addition to all this nonsense when the driver was finally taking my car to the correct place, he was literally smoking a cigarette in the car! Called AAA to have the car towed to a local dealer. We watched the driver load the car and it started rolling away from the tow truck. Driver had to run to the car and stop it. When the driver got the car to the dealership he did not have the flat bed all the way to the ground and the car fell off the back of the truck!!! Driver threw away the piece of the trailer hitch that broke off and just left the car there without telling anyone what happened. Found out a week later after getting the car back from the dealer that there was damage to the rear end. Fortunately the dealer has video of all of this happening. I can't comment on their auto body workmanship but I can say from first hand experience, their towing service is a disgrace! read more

AAA send these folks because my car was not starting. Based on their recommendation I got a new battery. Next day my radio was no longer working. On calling them, I got Kristen who was really un-empathetic. She was curt and said if I wanted it fixed it was not her problem and go and talk to the dealer. Looks like they were interested in just selling me a battery and no longer cared whether their battery replacement caused other issues. Horrible customer service. The guy who came to replace the battery was nice and courteous but was not competent enough to check whether the battery replacement caused other electrical units to malfunction / require code. Who thought I would review a towing service, but my experience today was so good I feel like I don't have a choice. I foolishly got my car stuck in the snow in an unplowed parking lot down and unplowed dirt road. When I called AAA they told me they would send someone, but since it was unplowed and in the woods, the drive didn't have to help me. Fair enough I guess, though every time I call AAA they tell me all the reasons they don't have to help, maybe another review for another day. The guy showed up, and I wouldn't have blamed him a bit if he left my dumb ass there in the snow till spring. He walked down the road to my car and spent 15 minutes pushing it back and forth so hopefully he wouldn't have to bring his truck down and risk getting stuck himself. I never thought I'd write a review for a body shop, but after the service I got, I absolutely had to. This past President's Day I was stopped at a red light and got hit from behind pretty hard by a man on his cell phone. The original appraisal for the damage from my insurance was a hair under 2000. I thought I'd try Exceptional because they were on my 'approved shops' list given to me from the appraiser, and they're right next to a Enterprise Rental Car. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted warmly and immediately re-appraised. I was told that the damage would be well over the original estimate (almost doubled), but that they would handle it all with my insurance. They made arrangements for me with Enterprise and I was on my way. This whole process took about 15 minutes. That still amazes me. About 2 weeks later I got the call to alert me that my car was ready. Exceptional handled the rental car for me, and showed me my car. It looked absolutely gorgeous, and feels like I'm driving a brand-new car. There is no way of telling that my car was in that big of an accident. Exceptional job, Exceptional service. read more
