Tosti's was our mechanic for the 3 years we lived in the area. We had two old cars that needed parts fixed and replaced in addition to the usual maintenance that cars require. In our experience, Tosti's provided courteous customer service and the repairs were of good quality. As for pricing, we thought the prices were reasonable for the area and we appreciated that they always called, explained things, and gave us choices if the car turned out to need more work than we had planned. 1 Star - Poor Workmanship and Expensive Band-Aid Solutions What started as an $1,800 exhaust leak repair has turned into a $3,800+ nightmare. Paid $1,800 for exhaust leak repair Picked up car - still making noise but "sounded better" 3 weeks later - original leak and noise completely returned but did not have time to bring it back right away. When I did get it to the shop, I was told it's a "different leak" requiring another $2,000 For $3,800 total, I could have replaced my entire exhaust system and been done with it. Instead, I'm getting piecemeal repairs that aren't holding up. I should have insisted on a proper diagnosis the first time when I picked up my car and knew something wasn't right. The fact that their $1,800 "fix" failed completely in just 3 weeks tells me either the work was inadequate, or they missed the real problem initially I can only say that this was my experience, and I would stay as far away as possible. read more

My husband and I have been going to Tosti's for close to 5 years now-even after we moved away. Outside of the obvious great and honest work they do and fair prices, the level of care they show is always top notch. As a woman, I've been to auto shops and dealerships where I felt talked down to, dismissed, or borderline scammed. Tosti's is the opposite of that. I have been coming here for several years and have always been very pleased with the quality of work and the reasonable pricing. I had an oil leak and, initially, this was diagnosed as a faulty oil pan. The estimated cost to replace would be $885, mostly labor. When I brought it in, they found that the pan was fine; the oil drain plug had come loose and just needed tightening. There was NO, I repeat, NO charge. They could have easily hit me for a couple hours of labor, but Joe and his crew were honest and did not try to take advantage like some other stations would and have. In the pouring rain today, I hit a curb and blew out my front tire. John Tosti, one of the owners, greeted me cordially and said," Let me take a look to see what it will take you to get going." The tire could not be repaired and he placed the "donut ( spare ) " on for me and called Ron's Tire to see if they had my tire size. I can't say enough about a 30 + year 3 generation owned business ( the lady in the waiting area who sat next to me told me that she has been coming there for 30 + years ) to let the public know - big corporate can never offer this type of service. I'm very belated with this review of Tosti's Service Center, but I wanted to make sure they got the excellent review that they deserve. I had just moved to Natick and was interested in buying a car from a used car dealer in Framingham, but wanted to have an independent mechanic near me do a complete diagnostic on it first. I found a reputable shop near me but the dealer didn't want to let the car be taken that far away, so I needed to do more research. The reason I'm going into this story is because when I told the original mechanic in Natick that I had to find someone else and why, they asked me who I was thinking of taking it to. When I mentioned Tosti's, without hesitation they said that it was a good shop and that I couldn't go wrong taking it there. For a shop to speak so highly of a competitor was by itself a strong indication that they had a solid reputation throughout the area. The folks at Tosti's gave me their flat rate that they charge for doing diagnostics and they told me how much time they would spend on it. As it turned out, they spent a significant amount of time beyond that, because they'd encountered something that they really wanted to take more time to investigate. In the end, John Tosti came out and described in detail what they had found and what it might mean, and it was clear that his top priority was to do the job complete and the right way even when it was pretty much at his own expense. If you added in the time that he spent explaining it to me to the time that the diagnostic itself took, they didn't make a lot of money on this job. That the owner took the time to come out and explain to the customer what the issue was tells you that customer service is as important to them as the work itself. Though they aren't close to where I live, I'll be taking the car back to them the next time I need an oil change or any other work done - they've earned my business, and if they earn yours as well, you couldn't do any better. I brought in a Volvo Cross Country for what I thought was a rear bearing assembly issue. Tosti's diagnosed the problem as such and quoted me what I thought was an exorbitantly high price, upwards of $1,100 for one rear wheel assembly! So I quickly jumped online did a little research using a tool that identifies the problem, year make and model along with zipcode and of course bibbied-boop the price was less than half. Armed with this information I called a shop I use quite often with the diagnosed issue and they quoted within the same range as what I found online. I've been around cars for quite a while and I was told that Tosti works specifically with Volvo's, they in fact have a page dedicated saying that they specialize in Volvo's. This page infact states "VOLVO SERVICE & REPAIR SHOP IN FRAMINGHAM, MA" https://www.tostisservicecenter.com/volvo-service-repair-shop-in-framingham-ma/ When I mentioned that I came down because they specialize in Volvo's he told me that didn't, and that nobody specializes in specific cars because that would be nuts. Counter intuitive for sure but whatever I was hoping for a good price. When he shared the quote, he mentioned that Volvos just cost more to fix. Of course they probably do but not $600.00 more than fair market value. Maybe I was working with someone less experienced at quoting work? I try to be as fair as possible and hope for fairness in return but it didn't feel like they were looking out for me as a customer. Disappointing. read more

First time customer. Decided to go to Tosti's after deciding a quote from a dealership that seemed too high for the work required. From the get to the team was professional and engaging. Chris explained what they thought needed correcting, both now and in the future, and what additional issues could be found once they started working. I appreciated the warning, and was happy when the downside risk turned out not to be the case. They provided a loaner so I could get home, and called me later that afternoon when the car was ready. I had such a wonderful experience here. First time customer and had problems with my windshield wipers and needed to get them fixed before the rain this weekend. They were able to fit me in last minute at the end of the day and were very respectful of my limited time and busy schedule as a student. Chris helped me out and was very kind. Tosti's Service Center - Auto Repair Near Me - Framingham, Massachusetts

Everyone at this place is so incredibly kind. My engine overheated and I ended up showing up without an appointment or any warning. It was about 100 degrees outside. Jason (I believe I am correct with that name!) looked at my car and told me that unfortunately I would have to get it towed to another location to be properly serviced (it's a 2007 Jetta and there is a Volkswagen specialist nearby that could get me in). Jason advised me to call AAA. He let me sit in the air conditioned store, gave me a phone charger, and periodically checked up on me while I was waiting or AAA. Then, as AAA was going to be about an hour later than they originally said, Jason said I could leave my car key and he would arrange the towing. His co-worker, Will, kindly drove me to a nearby coffee shop where I could catch a ride from a friend. Jason called my cell phone when AAA arrived and gave me updates that my car made it onto the tow truck. I was so grateful for the kindness that Jason and his co-workers showed. Tostis did some work on my car a few months back and overall I was pleased with the experience. I found their customer service to be incredible. They did a good job explaining what they had looked at, what the diagnosis was and what my options were. As best I can tell, the work they ended up doing - a not insignificant amount of repairs - was quality. My only complaint (and not even sure its fair to call it that) is that their prices were less than competitive. My car had been towed to the shop, so I wasn't able to call around and get some price comparisons prior to the work. And as stated above, I had no reason to believe at any point during the process that I was being fleeced. Afterwords though, I did call a couple other places in the area (including a dealership) and found that the prices at tostis for various segments of the service were consistently the highest. Like I said, not a complaint per-say, but more a strong warning to price compare before committing to any work if you're able to. read more

If you are looking for a great mechanic in this area, before your car won't start one cold morning, this is your place. John Tosti, the owner, is terrific. If John tells you it's broken, it is. He's not out to fleece you. His Dad sometimes gives me a ride to my office after I drop my car off. There have also been times I needed new brake lights before I went on a long trip. I called and they fit me in and didn't even charge me. I am so happy I found him. I'm actually scared of getting a new car, because I don't want to go to anyone else. All these raving reviews!!! What are the odds of a mechanic or service center being "completely honest"?? This was the second time I had come to this shop for a inspection renewal. What are the odds of having the same exact issue twice in a row?? hmmm.... you tell me. Just before coming in to get my car inspected (an older honda that has been in excellent shape/first and only owner/all services performed on time and so on), as always I check all of my turn signals, brake lights, and all of the other safety requirements before going in for an inspection (to avoid that red inspection sticker) and everything checked out. 30 minutes later I was on my way to this place since it was close by to get an inspection. About 20 minutes later the gentlemen in the front (smooth talker) came out and said your vehicle is ready "oh and your center brake light was out so we swapped it, it was only $5 more". Well obviously when there is nothing wrong with the car and nothing to work on, they have to find something to charge you for. I don't care how cheap the part is or what the car requires, YOU HAVE TO CHECK WITH THE OWNER OF THE CAR BEFORE YOU REPLACE ANY PARTS!!! I DID NOT GIVE YOU PERMISSION TO CHANGE ANYTHING!!! I mentioned all that to the front desk gentleman and his response was simply "well it's better than getting a rejected sticker". Bravo... great skills. I had several of these bulbs in my glove compartments and believe it or not they cost $0.50 on amazon and $1.99 at autozone. Obviously il be upset when you change me for something that probably didn't needed to be changed and more importantly you didn't even ask me if I would like to have it replaced. I would have done it on spot myself with the 2 extra bulbs I had in the glove compartment. The big concept here is that you did the same exact thing last year but I did not say anything. What are the odds of the same brake light failing in a year??? You tell me.. I'm sorry but since this is a repeated thing, I don't trust this shop at all and I will probably never come back here for anything. read more

Brought my car in (based on great word-of-mouth info) to get brakes done. My car was looked over top to bottom & turns out I didn't really need them done (as I had been told I did...by a franchise shop dealing mostly in brakes...!). Pat made some recommendations about some work that might be more of a priority, and let me know some things that could be put off. What sealed the deal is their OUTSTANDING customer service: I was called by Pat to discuss my car, and all of my questions were FULLY answered with no scare tactics or sales pressure and I was treated with honesty and respect. The BEST example of their customer service is this: the loaner I had asked for had not been returned...no big deal, I said, I work close by & I can call someone. John Tosti did one better: He gave me the keys to one of his employee's personal vehicle ( a pickup truck! I was so badass!) to drive until I picked up my car later. He had already given his own car to someone else! Keep in mind, I'd NEVER been here before...this is not only how they treat their best customers, but apparently how they treat ALL customers. In a business where word of mouth is EVERYTHING, this place is a gem. I wish they were open Saturdays, but for service like this I'll make it work anyway! read more

The mechanic I had been going to for both of our cars for the past five years recently sold his business. So I've been looking for a reputable service station in Framingham and ran across reviews for Tosti's. So when I took my Toyota to a local Toyota dealer for some mandatory recalls, they did the recall work and then informed me that my rear brakes needed to be replaced. I opted to not have them do the work in order to seek another opinion. So I made an appointment at Tosti's. They took my car out for a test drive, checked the brakes, and came back with the diagnosis that my rear brakes were good for probably another year. And they didn't charge a penny for checking the car out. I've found my new service station. Reading all the reviews here on Yelp have confirmed my decision that Tosti's is now our service station for both of our cars. read more

Tosti's is ridiculously over-priced. I went to them with my admittedly old, but low mileage VW jetta, which I had inherited from my mother. It had 70,000 miles on it. I bought new tires, new brake shoes, and had other assorted things done to it. I had given them a list of the things wrong with it, including a broken trunk latch and a dime stuck in the cigarette lighter that had shorted it out, making it impossible to charge a phone. So. $3100 later, they put the new tires on, the new brake shoes, but NONE of the little piddly things were repaired. There were more serious things they had repaired but it still did not pass a safety inspection. No problem, they said when I picked it up. Cops don't care as long as you bring it up to speed as soon as you can. A lie. When I DID bring it back to have little things repaired I was told I would have to thoroughly clean the trunk out before they would look at it (the trunk latch was broken, so this mean I had to get in through the back seat---- no small job). Bottom line: Every single time I have gone to Tosti's I have ALWAYS been made to feel as though I was below their standards for their expectations of their usual clientele. Ironic, given that this is in Framingham, MA. Not exactly a high end area. Tosti's has an insufferably elitist attitude. They do what they think is worth their time, NOT what you ask them to do. They do not hesitate to charge high end charges for medium quality work. Especially if you are a woman, do not go there. They make no bones about the fact that they want to work on high end cars for people who can pay for them to do all the tweaking they want. They are not there to service cars for the little guy. I would give them no stars (that is how disgusted I am with them), but the work they did was fine. It just was not what I was promised, or what I wanted. it was what THEY decided I wanted. read more

Honest, friendly mechanics. And, that's not something I say lightly. I have never had a bad experience here. Go here for your car needs! You won't regret it. I've gone here three times - one was for realignment and some other major work, the other two were for a headlight and a rear taillight that got smashed in. The work was always good! I've shown up the same day and was able to be seen. I've called on Friday and they got me in on Monday morning! I always get an appointment quickly. Their hours are great. Although they say there open 9 until 5 on Yelp, I've gotten two appointments at 7:30 AM, and I believe they are open until 9 PM. They give out loaner cars if you ask, and they have Wi-Fi in their facility. Love them!!! read more

What a great team. I came with a recommendation from friends who take their cars in for service. I received poor service at my local dealership. So I decided to get a second opinion, and I really appreciate Chris, and all of his knowledge. I got the repairs done to my car while also being able to save me money. These guys deserve five stars in my opinion at least for the service. They are always kind and attentive. If they say they will call, they will call. I'm no car expert so I guess I can speak to the fairness of prices or quality of work but I will say I only had an issue once and I've been there many times. When they learned of the problem, they fixed their work with no extra charge without issue. I appreciate that. Scheduling was never a problem and I thought the prices were decent.
