Just had my state inspection this afternoon. I was the second car waiting. It was done within a half an hour. Great service.

I'd seen several raves about Murphy's on NextDoor, so when I needed an inspection sticker in December, decided to go there. That was a very good experience, but what made me want to return was the conversation I had with the guy who did the inspection. He told me that he'd worked at other auto repair shops, but had never been treated as well as he was treated at Murphy's. That told me all I needed to know. So when I needed scheduled maintenance on my car, I made an appointment at Murphy's. When I called, the person had all my info in his system (because of the inspection sticker). Scheduling was easy, and I dropped the car off this morning. They called me with an estimate, and told me my front brakes would need to be replaced next time, but it wasn't necessary for today. He told me everything that needed to be done per the scheduled maintenance for my car, and I asked him to go ahead and do that. I'd dropped the car off at 8am, and by 1:30pm, all was complete. The charge was very reasonable, I picked up the car, and all was great. I would absolutely go there again. read more

Had my van towed to Murphys automotive they quoted us 200.00 to fix Freeze plugs when I called them two later they said no it was not the freeze plugs my husband had checked it this is why we had to take it there because he has a bad leg and couldn't do it then he told us it was the radiator and hose leaking and told us 1,300 so we had to tow it home again husband checked the radiator and hoses nothing leaking he charged us 116.00 plus are 200.00 for towing so he called back and told them and they said they would do the freeze plug for 500.00 do they really think I such trust them after all this read more

Came to Murphy's for a Mass Vehicle Inspection. Called first and they told me the wait, which was minimal. Vehicles wait in line, and I was immediately next. They did a thorough examination and all tests, and they charged the state fee. They were very nice and courteous from the greeting to handing over the receipt. Very professional, no upsell of services. Nice location next to a Dunkin Donuts. I wasn't at Murphy's long enough to even get a donut! read more

You've read the great reviews but you will still be so impressed with Murphy's from your first telephone call to your first face to face with any of the Murphy's staff. They are professional, polite, honest and very friendly. I didn't get everyone's name but I believe most of my conversations were with the owner. I went in feeling very confident from the reviews that I could trust this business and I was not disappointed. I went in to have my brakes checked for the first time in several years. I felt for sure that the front ones needed work but had no idea how the back ones were. I was so happy that only the front ones needed work and that Joe recommended the rear ones could go another 20,000 miles before being worked on. I appreciate the fact that he only fixed what needed to be done and felt the charge was reasonable. I highly recommend them for you. read more

Great place! Very thorough and committed to fixing my car and being sensitive to my Covid concerns. I have a Mini and have only ever used the Dealer for repairs. Recently, due to Covid, I needed my inspection but had not driven my car much and knew some repairs were needed, including an oil change. They took it in, checked it and made all necessary repairs to ensure my car would pass. They were very patient and kind with my fears around Covid, which I very much appreciated. My original review was mysteriously removed and deleted from Yelp! This is a re-post of what I wrote on 5/23/2020: I took my car there for an inspection sticker the other day. I believe the owner did the inspection. First he rode on my clutch so loud that I thought there was an explosion! I knew it right away that was a bad sign. In the garage, I saw him pushing down on the muffler and stopped when he saw me saw him. I did not watch him for the rest of the inspection. Even though I did get my inspection sticker, I felt uneasy. After I got home, I checked my car. I found the catalytic heat shield was dangling (pretty sure it was not like that before the inspection). But to my greatest surprise, the left cooling fan was disconnected. I worked on my own AC just last year and knew very well the connector was not loose and was securely connected. Luckily it was not hot that day and I did not drive long. I hesitate to speculate his exact motivation for such a twisted and evil "sabotage" except that he personally wanted to take revenge - he blames the current coronavirus pandemic on Asians and I'm Asian! read more

One additional thing is that a short walk away, there is a very affordable car rental place if you need it. Update 2017: The nearby car rental places unfortunately closed a year or two ago. This place is a complete rip off. Kept my vehicle for 7 weeks only to get my truck back with an engine knock. They charged me over $1000 and now my truck isint worth fixing. Put a brand new computer system that didnt fix the problem without even discussing it with me. He ignored my calls and said he would call back but days went by and no call. Finding a mechanic you can really trust...hard to do, especially if you're not a car guy. I've been a regular customer for more than 10 years, drive 30k a year, and these guys help me get 200,000 plus miles on my vehicles. They're good communicators, give good advice, don't try to sell me stuff I don't need, and get my car done in a timely fashion. They keep track of my warranties on parts, and honor them even if I don't ask about it. Owner Joe Sr. is a great guy, I trust him implicitly, and he's got some excellent mechanics working for him (especially Ray). I'd have my car towed 50 miles to have Murphy's fix it. read more

Imagine heading out for a cross country road trip and discovering that your AC no longer works! I immediately took my car to Murphy's after reading their fantastic Yelp reviews. The level of service was excellent, they had to work on my car for about 6 hrs but they gave me a ride home since I had no ride!! I was prepared to spend my day in their waiting area and I was so sad that our trip might be pushed back a day so when they offered to bring me home I was completely surprised and thrilled!! Wayne called me to let me know what was happening with my AC and also noticed that my tire pressure light was on (I had previously taken my car to another shop in the area and had them look at my tires and they said they couldn't do anything about the light....the they also said there wasn't anything wrong with my AC...) Wayne offered to give my car a look over to make sure everything would be set for the trip. He was able to fix the tire pressure, so the light magically turned off and he gave us the gift of cool air. I cannot say enough good things about these guys, everyone was super helpful and did an awesome job with the short time I had left in Framingham. Thanks so much guys!!! read more

Murphy's is the best. They're the only shop I trust to work on my car. My car came with two free oil changes from the dealer, but I'm contemplating just going to Murphy's and paying for the second one. They're reasonable and they don't screw up or rip you off. In my previous years of driving old cars, I realized that fixing a car is relatively easy, compared to diagnosing them. Murphy's always gets that right, too. read more

I'm a longstanding Murphy's customer. With so many past mechanics, I get that uneasy feeling that I'm not getting the whole story (or, worse, that I AM getting the WRONG story). I've never felt that with Murphy's, though. I typically go to Murphy's for scheduled maintenance, oil changes, minor-to-moderate repairs, inspections, and sometimes tires. They are friendly and reliable, and prices have seemed consistently reasonable over the years. I've never had a problem with a repair. They seem to be willing to be honest even if it means losing some business (such as if they think that it would be better for the dealer to repair something). Plus, they have free air, an amenity that is harder and harder to come by. I do patronize another repair shop on occasion, but Murphy's is solid, dependable, and convenient. read more

We have been using Murphy's Automotive for years and they always properly diagnose problems and skillfully repair them at a decent price. Their technicians are well trained and very experienced in maintenance of new and well-worn cars. They reference all the maintenance codes and access Technical Service Bulletins for all makes and models, and use up-to-date service documentation. They are committed to customer satisfaction. For example, after a tire replacement, I noticed a vibration at highway speeds, and they rebalanced all 4 wheels for free. There is no reason to pay dealership prices as long as Murphy's is around. read more

My daughter too her car someplace else to get the headlight fixed. Those guys tried to get her to schedule a time to fix it because it was a big deal and the bumper had to come of, and so on. So she smartly took it to Murphy's for a second opinion. They were able to fix the problem in a few minutes without disassembling the car. They charged 10 bucks for the service. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I went to Murphy's for a second opinion after failing a state inspection and being given an $834 estimate at another shop where I they treated me as someone who could be taken advantage of. When I arrived and explained my situation to Joe he very patiently listened, and then took my car in to evaluate for himself what needed to be done. The car did need work, but Murphy's had me in and out for $165, and that was including paying again for inspection so that I didn't have to return to the original shop. Murphy's saved me hundreds of dollars and my sanity. They we're kind and honest and genuine. I will never go anywhere else again. read more

Murphy's inspected a minivan for me that I was going to purchase used. They found that the van was in an accident despite there being a clean carfax. They did a very thorough job and gave me estimates for how much repairs would be to get the van up to snuff. they used to be ok. it depends on tech. Joe used to be ok but is a rat ass now I asked for ceramic brake pads and got crap (black brake dust ceramic have gray dust. also they said i needed back brakes very soon 2 other places said no. I wish I had some sort of whole story of, "I was having the worst day EVER, went to a million different garages until I tried my luck with this place and they changed my world." I'm sorry, I don't. All I can say is that every single interaction with them for years have been nothing but positive. Their prices are very fair, and they do a good job but what does it for me is that the people there seem like regular Joe's who just want to be honest. I have NEVER gotten sales pitches and salesman-attitude. I've gotten both, "Yeah, they're right. This part does need to get changed" and "Nope, that part's fine. Don't touch it." Murphy's is my go to shop for everything from state inspections to major repairs. They are honest and never try to add on unnecessary work. I've had my family's cars serviced here 4 or 5 times now and I have always been satisfied. I appreciate that they always take the time to give a detailed explanation of the troubleshooting they have done so I can understand why they are making a recommendation. Prices are reasonable and in line with what I would expect for quality work. They are also very fast and I almost always get the car back on the same day. Murphy's is great. They guys are clearly very knowledgeable. I've had inspections done, brake work, and had to have it towed there once by AAA because it wouldn't start. Unfortunately for me it started when they tried and couldn't figure out what was wrong. When it looked like I needed a complete rack and pinion, they took my through to the garage and pointed out everything on the undercarriage.
