Terrible. DO NOT USE. I went with EQ based on all the good reviews. First they make you sign a lot of paperwork saying they are not responsible for anything - even if they pack them. I was told I was so worried about moving. They assured me all major furniture and wood items (that I could not box) would be wrapped and protected. I was careful to pack items and even bought stickers with Big Arrows and THIS SIDE UP, and Fragile for glass, etc. Boxes were brought into the new location all upside down with no regard. New wood furniture got banged up and badly scratched. A family heirloom wood chest was not wrapped at all, tape was placed directly on wood items which harmed it, etc. (A few pics attached). Really upsetting! I showed the manager and he just shrugged and clearly could care less. And of course, they are not responsible. I still tipped them all well as I know it was a lot of work. It was a long move @ 10 hours. To their credit, they did not take any breaks. I've never posted a negative review, but I feel it's important to warn others. Other people clearly had a different experience. Unfortunately mine was different. If you have nice things and care about them, I would not use EQ. read more

This was our first time using EQ Movers and the experience was amazing. Sergi was great to work with, very professional, quick to respond and the end balance was the exact same as we were initially quoted. The day of crew were exceptional - they packed everything up in the morning, were on time to utilize the move out elevator and got us all set up at our new place by 3:30pm. All of our children's furniture was prioritized so that it would be set up and ready for them that evening. They offered us the best rate compared to everyone else we reached out to and the quality of service was truly 5 stars. read more

I was referred to Excellent Quality Movers by Chris at JP Urban Movers who were unable to accommodate our move date. That was a classy move instead of over booking a date as some companies would try. The team at EQM were super responsive, and upfront about costs, requirements, caveats, etc. On the day of our move, Andre and his crew called several hours ahead of our window to let us know they finished their morning job ahead of schedule and asked if we wanted to start earlier than our 1p-3p window. We did, and they showed up at 11:30am ready to go. He went over the costs, caveats, etc again to make sure we were all in agreement. We were, and they started right away. Andre and his guys were phenomenal! They never stopped moving. No breaks! Everything made it in great shape. Nothing was damaged. They cleaned up as they went and there were no surprise charges. Could not have asked for a better experience. read more

I can honestly say my move was one of the most painless moves I've ever had - thanks to EQ Moving. I used EQ Movers twice in the last year, and both times they were absolute rockstars. The communication to book the time slot was clear and quick. My moving team in July was three folks, lead by Jasulan. They showed up early, moved SO quickly - they got me from Brooklyn to Queens door to door with all my stuff safely deposited at my new place - in less than three hours! Jasulan was communicative, thoughtful, and just really great to have as the team lead for the moving crew - I would 100% recommend them (and have at least three times in the last month!). read more

Excellent Quality Movers definitely live up to their name! This company helped me move back from Buffalo, NY to New York, NY and I could not have had a better experience. Sergei was very prompt with responding to emails/texts and was clearly very organized. Max and company were hard working, professional, friendly, and remarkably efficient. They will definitely be my go-to for any future relocation and my recommendation for anyone who may need their services! read more

BEWARE!!! UNRELIABLE!!! We used EQ twice, once to move from Westchester to the city, and now hired them a second time for a move within the city. The first time was fantastic, they did a superb job and we had subsequently recommended them to all our friends. Today we contacted them to go over our booking for 2 days from now. They suddenly "don't have our reservation" and "aren't sure what happened", despite multiple emails (including price quote) as well as two phone calls in the last 2 months to discuss specifics. So now everyone's moving nightmare is happening to us - holiday weekend move in NYC with multiple building elevators scheduled, time taken off work, and EQ lost our reservation 36 hours before the move. Avoid. The BBB and our lawyer will be notified. read more

I've used these movers twice now and will use them again next time. I have experience with about four other companies in prior moves -- three were OK, one was disastrous -- and this company has been the only one that's exceptional. We paid for a full service move. I sent Sergei a bunch of photos of the apartment and he provided a very reasonable quote. Both sets of movers (one was two years ago, one very recently) were precisely on time for the start. This time we got to the new apartment ahead of schedule because of how efficient they were, and they couldn't use the service elevator because another apartment was using it. Instead of arguing with the building, the movers just waited in the truck until our reserved time. They disassembled / reassembled furniture correctly, and even reassembled one where they spotted a minor error (that we would have missed), and helped adjust the position of major pieces to our liking. Also, they packed everything super carefully -- nothing broke / got damaged, and nothing was missing. They didn't try to re-negotiate the agreed upon price, didn't try to upsell anything, didn't add any charges, etc. All in all, I am a very happy customer (twice). read more

From the very beginning, Sergei was always responsive to my questions or concerns, and the cost breakdown that he sent me couldn't have been any clearer. While it made me and my husband nervous not knowing what the final bill would be considering we were moving a distance of about 50 miles from Brooklyn to Beacon, NY, over the Labor Day Weekend (what if the truck's stuck in holiday traffic?!) we're so glad we went with EQ Movers. The flat-rate companies wanted what seemed like far too much money for what we were confident would be a relatively quick move, and even if our move would have come in well under what those companies were estimating time- and weight-wise, they said they wouldn't adjust the final bill accordingly, which seemed nuts. We took a gamble on the charge-by-the-hour EQM option and tried to estimate very conservatively so we'd be sure to have the necessary funds by the end of the move. The bill was about $1,000 less than what the other companies wanted (!!!) and we were so impressed by the movers' speed and professionalism. They were like lightning -- although always careful and considerate of the fact that my cats were hiding in various spots of the house, one of whom even had a newly broken leg -- so the whole operation took about five hours from door to door! And no cancellation or rescheduling fee, as well as no deposit? What more could you ask for? read more

Great experience with EQM. EQM moved a two bedroom apartment from Harlem/Columbia to Lower East Side on Labor Day Sunday. The crew of 4 arrived on time, in a large clean truck and were very polite for the 5 hours it took to do the move. It took them about 90 minutes to do the move down in the old elevator building, 60 minutes to drive and park downtown, and 3 1/2 hrs to carry all the stuff up 6 floors in a fairly tight stairway. They carried 24 large 20x20 boxes up a 6 floor walk up plus 2 beds, dressers, etc etc. We paid an hourly rate and they took less breaks than I would have expected. They wrapped the furniture and fragile items well and nothing at all broke during the move. I spoke to Kevin a few times prior to committing to them and he convinced me to hire 4 movers, not the 3 movers others bid for the 6 floor walk up. I think it was good advice, that actually saved me money. His estimate was lower than the other 6 bids that I received, and the actual cost came in lower than the estimate. He confirmed the move via email a few days prior and was responsive to an early morning text on Sunday as well. I would definitely use them again, and would reccomend them to anyone looking for a reliable mover in the City. read more

The positives first: our movers worked very very hard. The negatives: everything else. Alex, who we spoke to on the phone before the move to plan our logistics, was pretty rude and short. We chose the professional packing service and we called him to ask about logistics. He had his movers come at 8am and told us to book the elevator from 9-12 (I was surprised that they'd be able to pack and move out in 4 hours, but that's what he recommended and they're supposed to be the pros). Sure enough, the movers arrived in the morning and Alex had not communicated to them that they were supposed to pack for us. They ended up taking 8 hours to pack us and move out, and then another 3 hours to move us into our new home (plus one hour drive from the old to the new place). We were appalled with how carelessly all of our possessions, that we try to take really good care of, were tossed haphazardly into unlabelled boxes. On top of which, we had to deal with snide comments the entire day from the movers. At the end of the day, the movers yelled out goodbye from a different room and left their trash in the building hallway. If you need movers that work hard, this company is a good choice. If you want professionals who own up to their mistakes and treat you and your possessions with respect, find a different company. read more

The whole experience was amazing and professional. They explain clearly the expectation and rates for the move. Setting up a moving date was easy and the move itself was even easier. The team of Alex AL, Vadim, and Zhan was courteous and professional. Highly recommend EQ Movers! read more

We had to move during the most chaotic time of year in NYC (end of July) and were behind in booking movers. By the time we got around to it, many other companies were booked out or gave us absurdly high quotes to move our small studio apartment. Luckily, we ended up finding EQM, who gave us a very competitive quote and a reasonable moving time. Jasulan and team arrived around the tail end of the arrival window, but explained that their prior move had ran way, way over. From then, they very efficiently moved out ~15 boxes, 2 desks, a couch, full bed/mattress, large bookcase, table, a number of lamps, and some miscellaneous items we had in our apartment in under an hour and into our next apartment in the next hour. Overall, with travel time, it had only taken them 2.5 hours to do the full move. Nothing in our boxes broke and all our furniture were still in the same condition after the move. Very pleased with this experience! read more

Start to finish a super easy, pleasant process (and I have little tolerance for moving stress)! We moved a 2 bedroom apartment (4th floor walk up) to another 2 bedroom apartment (5th floor elevator) in exactly 4 hours, the day before a long holiday weekend, July 4th. I had first checked with a few other movers who were either not accepting moves that day, or who would have charged about $1,200 to start. Excellent Quality Movers did all of this for practically half of what others sought to charge, at the exact date and time that was most ideal for us. Securing the appointment two weeks before was super easy, and the folks in the office were helpful and speedy in scheduling us. The day of, Jasulan and a crew of 3 others arrived EXACTLY on time and super quickly whisked everything away, into the truck. Jasulan checked in with me as they packed up furniture, making sure the condition of all the items were noted prior to loading. Bringing everything to the new place about a mile away and placing the boxes and furniture into the appropriate spots took practically no time at all. Jasulan even meticulously rebuilt a super complicated futon for us, so we didn't have to bother with it ourselves. We sincerely hope we don't have to move any time in the near future, but having now used three movers in the area (Shea, Rabbit, and now EQ), we would hands down only use EQ again. read more

I used Excellent Quality Movers for a local move in April, and they lived up to their name! Everything about the move was professional and well done. Ahead of the move, Sergei reached out with all the costs, policies, and timing in a very clear manner, and there was no surprises come move day. For the move itself, Evgenii and Vlad assisted me and they were great! They showed up on time, we're very efficient with the move, and took great care while moving my furniture. I would definitely use Excellent Quality Movers again! read more

First off, thank you so much for such a smooth transaction and move! I first reached out via Yelp and Sergei gave me a very clear explanation of the cost breakdown- I really appreciated his timely responses and patience as he answered my questions. Even before the actual move, Sergei was on point with responding back (especially when the list of items that needed to be moved changed- thanks for being so flexible!) The day of... of course, it was POURING (like literally raining sideways, people!) The movers didn't complain at all, and worked hard and efficiently to get everything into the truck (from a third floor walkup), get through the crazy traffic to our new place (fourth floor walk up). The foreman was very easy to work with and the whole crew was extremely professional. Worth every dollar (and their rates are SUPER competitive). Their name is accurate- really an excellent quality move! (can I also say that NOTHING was damaged during the move?! I think that really speaks to how careful they were..) read more

Max and his crew helped us move into a third-floor walkup on one of the coldest days of January. They were total pros and didn't waste any time. It was our second move with Excellent Quality and we've referred many friends over the years, always with good results. Prices are fair and straightforward. They wrapped most furniture carefully, though some items like a headboard got a little scuffed -- not a big deal. They work hard and treat your stuff with care. Recommend. read more

These guys are simply the best out there for New Yorkers. Imagine having to move boxes and boxes of books and furniture from Manhattan on a busy day. Well, I have done it four times back and forth to the City in the last 9 years and every single time I trusted EQM to do the job and they did it marvelously well. Better price out there, more professionals and trustworthy. Evgeni and Vlad were just perfect!! Great job guys! Keep it up! read more

These guys were incredible. I got a bunch of different quotes for this job, and some companies quoted me two or three times as what it cost me with EQ Movers. ($110 per hour for three workers and no fee for the truck is a great deal!) Max and his crew showed up on time, worked quickly and carefully, and communicated clearly every step of the way. They were kind, professional and friendly, and they made an intricate job flow seamlessly. What could have been a stressful, expensive move ended up being a total breeze and super economical. Would DEFINITELY recommend working with them. read more

Excellent quality movers just like the name of the company! The move was smooth and the movers were the most helpful and respectful. The whole experience was a breeze -- at least as breezy as moving can go! The workers I worked with were Jasulan, Kolya, and Peter. They arrived two hours earlier than scheduled and kindly offered to help pack for free. I tipped them for the extra work. The move itself was completed less than two hours. They even helped me take down some small pieces of furnitures from the walls that I couldn't get to in time by myself. They also helped me move some new furnitures up three flights of stairs! All under the original quote as they charge by hour. The paperwork is also very clear as well and I felt safe. Professional and excellent movers! I'll definitely work with them again. Note that I did not ask them to help bubble wrap my furnitures as they were small. The only thing fragile was a big mirror, but it got here in one piece as well. Not sure if pricing will change when additional packing or special care is needed for bigger pieces of furnitures. read more

Ok so I had further discussion with Alex from EQ Moving and we came to an agreement that I would be reimbursed for the broken and discarded couch. I do think their attention to detail even after the job is very respectable. They certainly did not have to reply or acknowledge my email but they did and made a fair attempt to make things right. For that they have won my regards back for their attentive customer service. read more

There are not enough words to express how grateful I am to this company for making my moving day a happy experience. First of all, shout out to the amazing salesperson Jack - he is the reason I hired this company in the first place. I've been calling around to get quotes from moving companies for a few days, and getting the vibe like they couldn't care less. But Jack went above and beyond to make sure all my concerns were addressed. And let me tell you, our case is not easy - we have 2 kids, 2 cats, bunch of things going to storage, and moving from and to walk up buildings. Movers were super professional, and more importantly, friendly with my kids. Everything was done smoothly, nothing damaged, in and out in a jiffy. Thank you a million! Will definitely recommend you guys to everyone. read more

This was my first time hiring movers and it was SO worth it. One of our friends recommended this company after having a great experience. Our lease ended on a Friday and started on a Saturday which they were able to accommodate ($50 overnight fee and 2 hour minimum each day - so reasonable!) They called 30 minutes before arrival to let us know the expected timing. They sent a big team, all guys were super polite / friendly and extremely efficient especially considering we were on a 5th floor walk up at the end of a Friday night! All of our furniture made it through the move in perfect condition and no dishes were broken. We will definitely be using EQ again! read more

DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE. I have lived in NYC for 11 years and never had such a horrific situation as close to this and I had to move in a snow storm with the city shutdown before. I had everything packed and lined up at the door for their arrival so they could move efficiently. The only thing they had to do was breakdown the bed. I went ahead of them because I had my pet and other fragile items. They were slower than ever and unnecessarily so. They had to move my items from a 3rd floor elevator building to another elevator building. They also got a ticket that I had to pay which I wasn't happy about but at the same time I understood. It took almost the two hours from when they got to my old apt to get to my new one which was 60 blocks and the same avenue. They charged me $40 for the COI which was never sent to the property manager. In total they took four hours yet I only saw one guy the entire time. I made it very clear that I was not happy with this move. The "dispatcher" was rude and made everything my problem and the only guy working wanted to play the stupid card when challenged on anything yet was ok finding more reasons to charge me. I was quoted $460 (studio apt) and I ended up paying over a grand out of spite because I wasn't afraid to let them know how poorly planned this was on their end. A true bait and switch. What topped it all off was when the mover refused to leave my apartment after I paid over a grand. I was so exhausted from the nightmare that I wanted to pay and be done with it all. I told him to leave multiple times and he refused. I had to call the property manager to come up and make him leave which he was still resistant to. As a woman living alone, I was terrified that this hostile man/stranger wouldn't leave even though I paid in full. I was physically shaking and now pursuing charges on trespassing and harassment because that is exactly what that was. They disgust me. Even the men in my new building who saw it all said they've seen them do that to others before. If you dare to still use them, I strongly suggest having an assertive man who isn't afraid to speak up, but if you're smart you just won't use them at all. read more

I've used EQ Movers for two moves and they've been fantastic both times. For my most recent move out of the city, Max and his team arrived right on time at 8am, loaded and unloaded so quickly and were professional, efficient and friendly. They provide clear estimates and walk through the final bill when complete. Never any extra charges or funny math. They came in under estimate both times. For me, they took some of the stress out of moving. read more

BEWARE!! Do not hire!! Horrible service and horrible management. My dresser was broken by the mover and when I called management, they delayed and delayed and said they would get back to me but never did. I called again today and the person said "I'm just in Sales, I don't deal with that", then I asked for him to transfer me to someone that could help, and he literally hung up in my face. read more

Dreadful....dreadful....dreadful! I literally moved after finding out three days before, I was going to for sure move. I have been so stressed out since I was moving and wasn't sure who I should hire and yada yada. I used Yelp and out of all the movers....these movers received the highest rating even though there were only 5 reviews in total but I thought I give them a try. I packed my stuff neatly in boxes, but I ran out of time since I didn't realize I had so many stuff for one person. I put the rest of the things in shopping bags, since I had to get everything ready and didn't have time to get more boxes, since this was a last minute move. I spoke to Demetri and he gave me a quote after I told him I had x amount of boxes and some shopping bags. He never mentioned anything to me that there would be a problem. I got three men to help me and they arrived early in the morning. When they got inside, they advised I have to have things in boxes. WDF. Demetri never told me this and I had over 50 shopping bags worth of stuff. EEKS! If I would have known this, I definitely have got the first mover to move all of my NON boxes. I said F it, I will call someone else to come and pick up the shopping bags. This dude, saw I had TWO empty boxes and took the liberty to stuff my random things into them. UMMMM, does he not know I might have things in there that I don't want it to be crushed? He crushed my stuff into the boxes and ruining them. Anyways moving on....the guys went downstairs and I am still trying to see what else I have that need to be taken away. I didn't see any of the guys at all, so I am thinking did they want me to come down or something. WDF They were outside just chatting away with their cigarettes! Meanwhile, I still got crap loads of stuff! I am sorry but I am not trying to pay them for them to chill around in their van. I know I am only one person, but I seriously own a lot of things. Four hours later, they advised they will meet me at my destination.... I managed to hail a cab and I got there 15 minutes earlier than them. Dude, did they get lost? It's not that far of a move, so I don't get why they took so long. They came 20 minutes after me, when they left 15 minutes before me, when it is only a 10 minutes drive away. After everything was all done and finished, they asked me to look in their truck to see...but meanwhile it's not like I went inside their truck to do the inspection and it's pointless because HELLO I didn't ride the truck with me to and from. They could have made a drop off somewhere when I wasn't with them. To me, it just doesn't make any sense unless I rode in the truck with them and I was able to go inside the truck. *sigh* Perhaps my shelves are still in there! They managed to rebuild my wardrobe....which is great since they didn't even need a instruction manual even though they did scuff it up. I just hate it when my stuff gets ruined! I called Demetri and he supposedly was going to call me back ASAP regarding the missing shelve...but I have yet to hear from him. BLEH! Moving sucks! P.S The owner contacted me and asked me how to resolve the issue. I told him to replace the stuff that was damaged (Which I later found out there was a lot more than what I discovered that day!) and missing. Guess what...now this guy Michael is just like Demetri - LOST OF COMMUNICATION! It's like why contact me to see how to resolve the issue and then don't respond. BLEH....ONE STAR for LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE! Most of the good reviews are from the staff. read more

My experience with Excellent Quality Movers in NYC was perfect from start to finish. They were always communicative over email, answering my questions promptly and providing an accurate estimate of exactly when within the window we selected they would arrive (right on time!). We were stressed on our move day, but Martin and his team (including two guys named Max) were absolutely fantastic. They managed to efficiently move our entire 4-bedroom unit from a 4th floor walk up to a 5th floor walk up without a single complaint. Martin was so friendly, cracking jokes with us and giving us time- and money-saving tips for our next move while he wrapped out furniture up. All of our furniture, frames/TVs, and smaller items got down and back up in great condition. In the end, the hourly price we were quoted (extremely reasonable) added up to exactly what we had expected - no hidden costs or anything else. We loved working with Martin and will definitely request him and his team for our next move. Highly recommend you go with EQ Movers for yours, too!! read more

I've used EQ Movers twice. It starts with Sergei, who responds to quotes extremely quickly and professionally. The crews are on-time, communicative and extremely efficient. Literally just finished our move with EQ movers and am so happy with my experience that I have to write a Yelp review! Lol Three guys came and the lead man was Max. Max was extremely polite and professional. He always communicated and checked in with us if we would like extra wrapping or where we would like the furnitures. The guys were rather swiftly and moved very fast. It did take longer when it came to larger furnitures such as mattress because they need to be wrapped and protected with blanket; but that was definitely on us for not disassembling some furnitures ahead of times. The quote was very straight forward/clear and at the end nothing caught us by surprise. The price is average but definitely not expensive (we moved from a studio into a two bedroom). It's cheaper if you pay with cash and make sure to have extra cash for tips. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my FIRST EVER experience using movers and would highly recommend EQ movers for anyone who's looking to move in NYC. I'm never going through the stress of moving by myself with U-Haul and driving through NYC traffic again!!! Hopefully my review will help people who are still debating about using EQ movers. read more

I spoke to so many moving companies (I'm talking over 10!) and Excellent Quality Movers stood out for a few reasons: First of all, they didn't ask me for an extensive list or pictures of my furniture or anything like that. They responded quickly and the pricing breakdown was clear and easy to understand. I asked for an estimate and it came well under their competitors that charged flat fees. Overall, the booking process was easy and simple! If you're worried about paying hourly for movers, you don't have to with these guys. Max S and his crew did an amazing job for me. They arrived on time and got right to work. They wrapped my two full-length mirrors and my flatscreen TV and even taped some of my boxes securely because I ran out of packing tape the night before. We even made a pitstop at a storage facility to drop off an old couch (that they wrapped in blankets) and two chairs. At the new apartment, they graciously accommodated us when we decided last-minute to move our heavy bed frame downstairs instead of upstairs. Nothing I owned was broken or cracked! They worked swiftly and efficiently and there was definitely no sticker shock at the end. I will definitely book them on my next move! read more

I booked them for a last minute move 2 summers ago. Emailed on 8.20. Got a prompt response including insurance details. Move happened on 8.28. Their pricing was the most reasonable quote I got. I didn't move very far but was moving from a sixth and seventh floor duplex walkup to a fourth floor walkup! I also asked that they pick up a craigslist couch purchase in Brooklyn on their way into the East Village. They started the clock then - men with a van type people were quoting me 150-200 for a Craigslist move like that! There wasn't any nickel and dimig. In fact I have a huge floor mirror. I think they didn't end up charging me for extra padding - maybe it's bc I had extra padding. Nothing arrived damaged or nicked and they even helped me set up my bed frame. They arrived on time and possibly early. One guy was the point person. I had plenty of cold water for them and had tip ready in cash. I want to say I spent 450ish. One wrench was that my new block had street cleaning on the day of the move. I didn't know it was common for cars to double park on the opposite side on those sides?? But yeah, these guys handles it like pros. No tickets. As someone who lives in walkups and schedules things late, this was money well spent. read more
