We have had a great experience with Evolution. I initially called them in 2023 for an HVAC replacement, and received a quote, along with quotes from several other companies. Evolution was my top rated quote based on price, responsiveness, and knowledge. We ended up deciding to hold off for another year if our old system would make it, but I called them back in February 2025. I scheduled another consultation appointment, and was contacted immediately with friendly, excellent service by Rose. I was in need of Air Duct replacement as a result of a rodent problem from a couple of years ago. After assuring that all the entry points had been sealed I contacted several HVAC companies to get estimates on replacing the air ducts. I had several estimates, but I wasn't comfortable with the pricing as they all seemed very expensive compared to the cost of the entire system being installed several years earlier, (this is a 2000 sq ft home). I couldn't believe the price would have gone up that significantly. My final call was to Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning. I had read several of their fantastic reviews and was pleased to find that they were local to my residence. Brian came out and evaluated the attic and gave me a price that was less than half of the other two I had received. I was a bit skeptical, but he explained they are a small family owned business with little overhead (unlike the other companies), and combined with the great reviews I had read, I agreed to use them. They showed up around 8am and Edgar and Andres were completely finished within 4 hours. They removed all the previous ducting, installed the new ducting (and strapped them to the rafters, unlike the original installers), then cleaned up all the debris. Our old 25-year old Rheem gas furnace/AC finally died and had a massive coolant leak. It was time. Out of the five bids, Evolution's was the best value and could install the next week. We also had the ducts replaced (they were even older,) and chose an American Standard (same as a Trane,) Silver side discharge 4 ton heat pump. 2-year labor warranty from Evolution and limited 10 year equipment manufacturer warranty. Price was very competitive, and they answered all of my questions quickly. We had to wait for the city to clarify the location of the outside condenser unit, and the company worked around that city delay to get the ducts and air handler installed in the meantime. Tim and Angel spent the first day in the hot attic taking out the old ducts and replacing them-- quality work. They insulated and cleaned the AC closet to receive the new system. Rose, the operations person was very responsive and organized, and kept us in the loop with status of city permits, HERS inspection, and scheduling installation dates and times. Once the city gave us the go ahead, Rose scheduled the outside unit installation a few days later, and we were blowing cold air that same day. The owner of the company came out to do this. Compared 4 different contractors - not only evolution was much cheaper, but they carried American standard heat pump which was the highest rated by consumer reports. They replaced gas furnace, did the duct work, installed new heat pump on a very short notice. They also installed led airscubber (latest model) which requires replacement after 5 years rather than 2 year model. They started at 7:45 am and finished at 2pm. Perfect client service, quality work. Jeff went above and beyond the call of duty to not only save us thousands of dollars, but also importantly to take the stress and worry about making such a major decision. There was no upselling or pressure or scare tactics. They replaced all our ductwork and we now have attic insulation (see pictures). I came across their advertisement in a local mailer towards the end of last year and decided to contact them regarding the replacement of one of my AC/Furnaces. The main reason for my interest was to take advantage of the heat pump tax credits. Brian promptly arrived and assessed my requirements, recommending a single-stage American Standard Silver system with a second air return. However, I had reservations about this choice of equipment because previous quotes had suggested a multi-stage inverter system. Brian assured me that the Silver system would work perfectly fine and claimed that the other systems were unreliable. He emphasized his expertise and promised a hassle-free "upgrade." After contemplating for several weeks, I decided to place my trust in this company. We scheduled the installation, but on the first day after the install, there was only a 7-degree difference between the temperature at the return and the register temperature. I brought this issue to the attention of Brian and Evolution, and they sent Diego, the owner, to address the problem. Diego stated that the issue lay with the Air Handler and recommended upgrading it to a furnace. They scheduled the replacement, but even after this, there was minimal improvement in the system's performance. The system could run continuously, yet the system was only capable of a delta of 3 to 5 degrees from ambient (i.e. if the temp is 90 prior to turning on the heat pump it will run all day and is only capable of cooling to 86 degrees- vice versa for the furnace). Fortunately, I have a second system on the other side of the house, and when that system is on, there is a noticeable change in the interior temperature. I reached out to Brian, Rose, and others at the company once again, and this time they attributed the problem to insulation issues in the house. However, they never conducted a blower door test or any other confirmation of their suspicions. Furthermore, they couldn't explain why the previous 50-year-old system had no trouble heating or cooling the house, all while making significantly less noise. Further no additional return was added (this would at least make a big difference in terms of noise). The irony is that because they added back in a natural gas furnace, I am no longer able to claim any of the credits for the original spec'd heat pump since I now have a dual fuel system. To make matters worse, this system performs far worse than the 50+ year old system they removed. So not only did I pay them to rip out a working system for an inferior system, I am not even able to take advantage of the rebates/credits (which was the main reason I contacted them in the first place). The company has since gone silent, offering no solution in sight. Their "100% satisfaction guaranteed" slogan lacks any substance when it comes to resolving issues. It seems that they are readily available to sell a catalog "solution", but when it fails or is lackluster, they are nowhere to be found. Additionally, their troubleshooting methods and system design approach lack scientific rigor. If you are willing to take a gamble and guess which system you need, then Evolution might be a suitable choice. However, if you prefer a methodical HVAC company that genuinely matches a solution to your home and stands behind their word I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Our 1987 heater finally gave up and our 1995 A/C unit was killing us on our summer electrical bill. Brian from Evolution, came out on a Tuesday night, was knowledgeable, courteous, and patient. I kept getting the runaround with all these companies that AHS (terrible home insurance btw) kept sending out, wasting my money on these contractors who could not repair my old hydronic system nor tell me what can be done to fix my problem. I am very excited to say after 12 years at our home and extensive research, we finally had a HVAC system installed. My husband and I have to commend Evolution Heating and Air Conditioning for accomplishing the impossible. We live in an older model home ('55) in Downey. Seven contractors said they couldn't go through the attic because our low pitched roof had very little to no room for ducting. Some of the hardware was extremely heavy and they lugged it up without damaging anything - The unit I got is quite tall and I had some extra concerns about a strong earthquake topping it over.
