Pleasantly surprised by the shopping plaza restaurant location. The inside is bright, lively, welcoming and has both sports on with a cool bar but also a balance of the restaurant vibe. The food was absolutely delicious, my wife had mamas fried chicken bowl and I had the dunns corner burger which was excellent and put a nice spin on the typical burger. Last night, my parents and I went to Evie's and we had a very nice time. We ordered some speciality drinks, which were all very good. My dad ordered a burger, which he said was very good minus the stale bun and my mom and I split the Caprese Chicken Parm. It was decent. On the menu, it said it was in Vodka Sauce and also was supposed to have pesto, but the sauce definitely just tasted like Rao's tomato sauce (a solid jar sauce, just not what I was expecting) and there wasn't any pesto on it. However, there was a nice crisp to the chicken and I liked how they served pappardelle pasta with it. I would've been interested to try their truffle fries or soft pretzel, but I didn't come to dinner super hungry. Our server, Maridella, was so nice and took great care of us throughout the whole time. She also handled the guy at the table next to us very well when he was being a little creepy (he left a little after we sat down). Maridella also sold us on the cookie sundae, which was simple but delicious. There was also live music: a young woman with a pretty voice and a decent repertoire. I was happy to see that, as a fellow young performer. It really added to the nice ambience. It's very cute in there, and has a nice bar. But I can't say enough about our server because even though the food wasn't amazing, I would go back because of the service, live music, and maybe I'd just go for appetizers and drinks. :) read more

The food and service was great! We sat outside and at dusk the mosquitoes came out full force probably because the lights inside were so bright they couldn't resist coming around. We couldn't sit inside because of the cafeteria style lighting and it was freezing while the music drowned out any chance of conversation. But I will go back during the day for lunch !! I called for a reservation at 7pm and upon arrival we sat quickly. Very very loud and almost impossible to hold any conversation. Food was good, price reasonable for the times we are in. We were stunned at how crowded it was on a Sunday in October at 3 pm! Nearly every table was filled and as a result we had a little bit of a wait. We were thinking we should have ordered an appetizer but I'm glad we didn't! We would have exploded! The portions are huge! Definitely value for your dollar here! Don ordered the meatloaf because he really loves meatloaf and it was from the "comforts" section or the menu. He said it was good but it had a different taste than he was expecting. He wished he'd ordered the fish and chips which we saw served all around and it looked amazing. But the meatloaf was a great portion served atop mashed potatoes and carrots. He wasn't happy that the edges were burned. I ordered the shaved steak in na'an. It was spectacular! And served with a half a plate of curly fries. They were also delicious! As we've heard from several who have gone, it is loud and I hope there's some remedy for that, after the fact. But we will definitely return to try the Mac and cheese and chicken wings and meatballs! Service was friendly and fast. The menu had a great selection of drinks, apps and entrées. One problem we had is that the food came out lukewarm. The meatballs came out a cast iron dish that wasn't even warm to the touch. The chicken parm was also not very hot and the chicken breading was a little over cooked. This was a wonderful first experience at Evies. Four of us had our first meal here and we were delighted. The service was wonderful - ask for Kelly - and the food was enjoyed by all. The grilled cheese with pulled pork was scrumptious as was the swordfish tacos. One of us is gluten-free and she enjoyed corn tacos for hers. The fried chicken sandwich with bacon was fabulous as were the accompanying french fries. The side salad was dressed perfectly with a light and tasty dressing. The perfect Manhattan's were generous and, well perfect. The IPA beer flight that one of our guests had was fun with a happy landing. We will return happily to Evies. We went on opening weekend. Service was great considering the volume of people. The food was mediocre at best. The meatloaf came out all crumbled on top on the mashed potatoes. I expected a slab of meatloaf like one would be accustomed to. It looked like I was served the crumbled leftovers or the scraps that were left in the pan instead of telling me they were out. Flash forward a few months, thought we'd try again.... The falafel looked like a fried turd. Not like any falafel I've ever seen before. And because of the size and thickness ,it was just raw mush on the inside. So that'll be the last try. Too many other places in town. read more

What a lovely surprise! We found a gem In a small town on the edge of Westerly RI after a lovely hike in the nearby state forest. It was probably somewhat off season (I can imagine it getting quite busy during prime beach time), but we were welcomed in and shown right to a table. The service was friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding! We agreed with other reviewers, the eggplant stack with homemade marinara was so incredible, hinting at the prowess of the kitchen. We all had various sandwiches, each an excellent rendition of their type, packed full of ingredients and trimmings. The atmosphere is not very cozy but serviceable. The kitchen produces like it is a gourmet shop. We will be back! read more

We went here tonight based on me putting our location into yelp. So glad I did. Our server Jessica was fabulous. We had sangria and it was great. My husband had the steak naan and it was so good. I had the eggplant and asked for pasta with it as it comes with just a salad. It was 3 bucks for a giant bowl of pasta with delicious sauce. I have at least 2 meals leftover. After having been to Back 40 (owned by the same restaurant group), we were so excited about Evie's opening closer to home. Unfortunately, this was the first restaurant we've ever walked out of before the wait staff even got to the table. Loud cannot even begin to describe how it was at 8 pm on a Wednesday night. I mean DEAFENING. As in 80s dance club loud. We couldn't even hear the hostess trying to seat us. But I went back today for lunch with friends in hopes that the day crowd would be better. We were able to sit outside and other than the music from the speaker above us being loud (even though one of the people at our table gently tried to suggest turning it down), it was soooooo much better. Granted, it was outside and with about a third of the people at lunch than at dinner last night. But the waitress said the management knows about the noise, not just from customers but from the staff who say they struggle to try to talk to the customers. Anyway, enough about the noise. Lunch was good - three different entrees. They were out of one (at noon) so we had to substitute which was fine. But one of the salads arrived without the grilled chicken because "the kitchen staff forgot". Our server asked if my friend wanted to wait but she said no. About 10 minutes later and halfway through the salad, the chicken shows up anyway, though it was comp'd which was nice. My other friend and I opted for a substitution for fries with each of our meals and while we were given a choice, it was never mentioned that the substitution would be an additional $3. In my case that was for a big bowl of steamed broccoli. Just steamed broccoli. Nothing else - no salt, pepper... just broccoli. It would have been nice if we had known that the sub was additional... maybe it's somewhere on the menu? But the food was good. And lastly, we ended up just taking our bill inside to pay after waiting way too long. Maybe it's brand new opening pains or the ongoing staffing shortages so many restaurants are struggling with, but I would have thought being part of a very successful restaurant group would have made that learning curve a little easier right off. We'll go back... once they put up something to deal with the sound overload! read more

The service here was very good and I have no complaints. The restaurant was well furnished, clean, and overall looked amazing. Everything was going well. That is until we got our food. First, we got the buffalo wings. They were cooked nicely, but had WAY too much sauce. Still edible, but not good at all. Next, came my meal. I got the chicken parm. It was cooked nicely, but it tasted horrible. I have never been to a restaurant where the food was so bad I couldn't eat it. Evie's has changed that. My mom ordered their clam chowder. Like the chicken parm, it was cooked nicely. Not too hot or cold. However, there was an EXCEPTIONAL amount of rosemary. I tasted it and threw up in my mouth. After the waiter saw we didn't eat, he gave us the check. On our way out we saw a mother and daughter walking behind us. They also expressed how their food has been and continues to be horrible every time they come here. They shared a clam chowder this time, and they said the exact same thing as my mom and I. i have a 50/50 mindset about Evie's. first and foremost i work in the restaurant business as a cook and that makes my opinion a tad more elevated than what most would generally conclude from an experience at a restaurant. the food here is hit or miss. meaning what you order, and also the consistency of each item. i've had food from Evies a few times. i've had the meatballs and the meatloaf on two separate occasions and they had a very different taste to them on my second trip. they were still good but not as great as the first time! with that being said the menu says demi glacé and my meatloaf had more of a gravy as the sauce. DEF not the same taste or price point. as a new business it takes time to get in the groove and stay consistent, and we have no idea what their staff situation is like. i try to be understanding. waitstaff is average. it is quite noisy in the later evening hours. mac and cheese was awesome, meatballs are so far my favorite item. Nonna's Ragu is worth a try. chicken parm was ok. oysters rockefeller looked great(and tasted great according to my friends). garden salad is nice, good dressing. overall try it and see how you like it, but don't go late at night . read more
