I won't save the best for last on this review. If you come here you HAVE to get the cheesecake, it really does live up to the hype. The food is overall great quality and the service was good... other than the fact that they basically told us it was okay to not have masks on, and tried on multiple occasions to get us to eat inside when it was pretty packed-- we were just trying to be more covid cautious before the holiday seasons. We have driven through Lampasas many times over the years but just discovered this German gem. Very good traditional German food and sides. I had the brat with grilled onions, fries and red cabbage. Authentic German fare deep in the heart of Lampasas. This quaint cozy family-owned restaurant is located right on the town square. Just look for the folks waiting on the patio. This is authentic homemade German food so don't expect to be in/out in 30 minutes. Enjoy a pint or two of good German beer and have an appetizer. My schnitzel dinner brought back memories of my trips to Germany. Portions will not leave you hungry but try and leave room for their cheesecake. As I said at the top the food is great. Service is amateurish at best as I sat with an empty beer stein in front of me throughout my meal. Only one time did we have an interaction with our server, at the end of our meal. What I did notice if you are a regular well they will hover all of you. Not an issue as the food is king here. One last nit I had a "wonderful" conversation with the owner as we were waiting. I told him this was our first time and we were really excited to eat here as I've been to Germany a number of times and I miss the food. He informed me that Eve's is the only German restaurant for 200 miles. Huh? Georgetown, Fredericksburg, and New Braunfels would like a word with you. Also at the end of our meal, the owner did stop by and sarcastically said: "So Mr German food connoisseur how was your meal"? It was wonderful thank you... Yes! Yes! Yes! This place is worth every second of your time! Hardest job is deciding what to order! We had the schnitzel salad and sandwich. Both delicious!! Make sure to order the apple or cherry strudel for dessert!! We ordered 2 bratwurst dinners to go, they did an excellent job packing them up so nothing got soggy. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Last time I went , 3 weeks ago, I was so pleasantly surprised that I could get in, eat at my leisure, the food is great, and not listen to griping. The owners husband wasn't there, so people were seated, there was no yelling, and he didn't tell you to get out so others could sit. An unpredictably nice experience. read more

We come to Lampasas quite often for hunting season ... today is the first time we've really ventured off to try restaurants. We are SO GLAD we stumbled upon Eve's! It is cute and quaint and a full menu! The beer is ice cold and the sandwiches are to die for! The French is what I got ... I could have ate five of them - the Ruben is what my mother in law got, perfect amount of meat and TONS of flavor! It is kid friendly - my son got a HUGE grilled cheese and ate every bit of it! Oh my gosh, stop here and eat. On the square in Lampasas, it kind of off the beaten path(highway) so you have to actually go "downtown" to find this jewel. Certainly not a hole in the wall, but probably a mom and pop place that everyone loves. Glenda got a sandwich and I got schnitzel with a side of spätzle. German heaven. The food was definitely 4 star, but now it's dessert time. The apple and cherry strudel were definitely 6 star. The best I have ever had. I'll go back just for that. Stop looking. Go to dinner here. My parents, my boyfriend and I came to dinner here earlier tonight, and it was the best German food I've had all year (and I went to Germany in March!) I got the Jager schnitzel and it was delicious. My boyfriend and dad got the cordon bleu special and I was sneaking bites off their plate when they weren't looking. The red cabbage is very authentic and tasty. One final thing: Don't Stop reading. The marshmallow cheesecake is to die for. It is SO good. The whole thing tasted just like toasted marshmallows! We asked for the chef to come tell us how it was made and our waitress told us the owner and namesake, Eve, makes it and that she's got the recipe under wraps. Eve came out and talked to us, thanked us for coming, and didn't divulge her recipe! Nice little restaurant on the square in Lampasas. The restaurant - clean and just a bit dated. It felt kind of dark and a bit old. The service - very good The food - Not comparable to what you'll find at your German grandma's house, or even in Fredericksburg, but decent enough. The schnitzel was ok but a bit dry on the edges. The spaetzle was wonderful. Potato salad was ok, and the green salad as well. The gravy for the rahm schnitzel was much nicer than the one for the weiner schnitzel. Personal preference, I suppose, but I felt like the both had a bit of a strange after taste. The cheesecake is to die for. Take some to go, and I promise you won't be sorry. It was truly the highlight of the entire meal. I'm looking forward to trying the bratwurst next time. I'll probably avoid the schnitzel since I'm quite spoiled on the real, authentic thing. The town square was a bit dreary when we visited and many of the nearby stores are closed and this is several blocks off the main highway so we wouldn't have found it without Yelp. Not a fancy place and has a fairly small seating area. A wonderful selection of schinitzels and deserts. The tossed salad is served with a house salad - a creamy dill. It is a classic German restaurant like the kind you would find in Fredericksburg and other German settlements throughout Texas. I stopped here on my way between Austin and San Angelo Texas. It was a Friday night on December 1, 2017 and Lampasas was busy. I ate the Kase Schnitzel. It was topped with ham & melted provolone & gravy. I had the red cooked cabbage. While I am sure many people like the red cooked cabbage, it was just a little too much for my pallet. The service was good, with young people primarily doing the serving. I had a piece of chocolate cheesecake that I took with me for dessert. It was excellent as was the entre. I drive through Lampassas on the way to the oilfield in West Texas and will stop here again. We drove down to this place from Killeen area, heard some very complimentary comments about this restaurant. Well, it was differently worth the drive. There was 4 of us in the party, not a one of us had any complaints. Each one of us got a different kind of Schnitzel. Sides we had between us were French fries, Red Cabbage, Cucumber salad, Spatzle, and a side salad with homemade German House Dressing. All of us were so full, BUT we all got a dessert to take home. Wait staff was good and when a table was empty they jumped to it and got it cleaned up immediately so the next person on the list could be seated. All an all great place to eat. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the decor was comfortable and just what you would expect in a small café on the downtown square of any central Texas town. I ordered a schnitzel and the waitress was kind enough to give me suggestions on a couple of custom enhancement and I decided to add a fresh bratwurst to my lunch plate. Ugh I can't believe I'm just now finding out about Eve's!! So good! Warm and home cooked!! Nothing like it in the area. I was full and still had enough for leftovers. You can taste the freshness and love when you eat it!! I had the pleasure of meeting Eves husband while waiting for my food. He was out greeting customers and socializing. That made my visit 10 times more amazing! I love that they take the time to talk to customers and know the community! You can tell that they enjoy what they do!
