Not enough staff at this facility. Went there one day and only one girl was working. There was a line of people. The girl was definitely not trained on how to prioritize. When I became second in line she proceeded for 20 minutes explaining about there packages at the front desk and then the customer just stood there looking at the differences in silence for 5 minutes as the girl (employee) waited for a response instead of just running my name and putting me in a room first. One girl she sent back to a room...15 minutes later she comes out of the room to the front and said, the device was never turned on. I didn't want that to happen to me so I asked before I went into the room, "did you turn it on?" and she replied, "yes." Well I got in there all undressed and had to redress to ask her to turn it on. She had way to many things going on. Is iTan afraid of losing $ paying minimum wage to their employees when their getting around 100 bucks a pop??? What happened to good customer service? If they are afraid they are going to lose $ on employees, they better think twice because what they really will be losing $ on is their repeat customers as well as referrals. On the positive side, on the first day I came in I initially spoke with Samantha. She was wonderful. She didn't try to push a sales bit on me, but explained all the information in detail and answered all my questions very thoroughly. She was very patient with all my questions and while I picked out the package I desired. Most girls that work at tanning places are like "Valley Girls," very annoying and fake. Samantha has high energy, but is very genuine. Even when she said she was excited for me once I picked a package, I truly believed her. She is very knowledgeable about the products and equipment and can answer any questions without hesitation. A successful hire for the company! read more

Ive been to a few of the iTans and I'm a regular at iTan SDSU, however I was in the La Mesa area and decided to drop in, well big mistake, not only is it super small in there but its dark and a sad atmosphere maybe most of that came from the attitude from the girls who were busy chatting it up at the front desk. And the beds here, hahahaha, maybe they needed new bulbs or something but they seem a lot less powerful. As I left they were so busy talking to each other they wouldn't even have acknowledged me but I was sure to say goodbye myself and I got a very rushed bye in return!!! Horrible service I would not recommend this location, maybe they're only welcoming to their regulars if anyone cares enough to go there regularly!!! Not me!!! read more

This location is close to home so very convienient. They do not have hot water in their bathroom, so just in case you wanted to wash your face before tanning...plan to do it with cold water :/ Other than that, Itan is a chain so everythiong else is great and just what you would expect from any itan location. read more

this itan location is the best out of the ones that i've gone to. i only use the regular beds; i've never done the mystic tanning or anything fancy. but, the beds are always clean and i've never had to wait longer than five minutes for a bed. i think that the main reason that i really like this place is the staff. i used to go to the itan by sdsu but then realized that this one was much closer and the girls that work here are much friendlier in my opinion; they're always smiling and they remember who you are which i enjoy. when i've gone to a couple of the other locations, i had that experience where you walk in and the girls behind the counters are talking and then seem bothered when you "interrupt" their conversation. the customer service is top notch at this place. the employees here also know their stuff. if you're like me and don't know a whole lot about tanning or what's safest for you (us irish are tanning impaired), they will give you all of the facts. i've never felt pressured to buy something that i didn't need and they work with your budget. a+ for the lovely ladies at the la mesa itan! read more

This Itan location is by far the best tanning salon I have ever been to. From the quality of the services to the outstanding employees these guys are one step ahead of the rest. All of the associates are amazing and I've never had an experience anything less than wonderful. I do have to give a specific thumbs up to Sam, she works her butt off to ensure the customers are quickly helped and the salon is clean and stocked, all with a warm smile on her face! Came in for a yelp deal for first time customers and the girl working there had no clue they even offered a yelp deal, then acted like if she could not figure it out then I couldn't have the deal.. KINDA WEIRD. I was in a hurry and explained to her I already knew what they offered but ended up having to hear her talk for about 30 minutes trying to upsale me things that I didn't even have time for.. But it was okay.. She recommended a color for me for my spray tan and promised I would be dark but I really didn't get any color at all.. Waste of my time. read more

Nice, clean and well maintained, I-tan is my new salon. The prices are awesome. They have several levels of memberships, one for all budgets and tanning goals. They will store your tanning lotions on site so you don't leave them in your car (yikes) of forget them at home. They have a variety of beds (my fave is the red bed) which offer different styles of tanning. They even offer sunless tanning. They have a small variety of lotions, sunglasses, sandals and handbags available for purchase. The salon itself is hip and stylish. I love this place!!! The staff is knowledgeable, however young. The only thing that would make this place better is a broader selection of lotions and a couple of older ladies to make us "seasoned" veterans a bit more comfortable. I will continue to make i-Tan my home in the sun!! read more

I just got a spray tan for my engagement pictures tomorrow. The girl at the front desk was so sweet I really regret not asking her her name! She was so informative but not pushy and took the time to go over everything with me and answer all my questions. Very friendly and seemed genuinely happy in life LOL which is not common nowadays. It was more expensive than I remember but hopefully it's worth it. It sucks that I smell like the Tanner and cannot shower for a day but I'm sure I'll be beautiful and tan and can shower tomorrow! read more

I've been to the Itan in el cajon and la Mesa. They're both great places and the staff at both locations are great. However, Itan in la Mesa is where I go now because of one specific staff member that went above and beyond. Amanda Matson was Knowledgable about her product and had an amazing and exciting attitude. ITAN LA MESA IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!! i just moved out here and was looking for a tanning salon. A few people i know reffered me to itan and the first time i went in I was OBSESSED! The girls were super friendly and knew exactly what they were talking about. I was greated immediately, then showed around, then they explained all the best packages. They understood i was on a college students budget and didn't try to oversell anything i did not need. I have been tanning with itan for a couple months now and i tell all my friends to go tan there. I will never go to a different tanning salon! They also have bodywraps, teeth whitening, and facials which i use weekly. Seriously i have never been to any work establishment with nicer people! I tan was very disappointing. I called ahead 4 days in advance, asked questions, and told them who and why we wanted a spray tan. I was wanting to get one for my daughter. They heard me say this. They then proceeded to tell me how their mystic tan would last longer than an airbrushed tan and wouldn't rub off as easily. We spoke for at least 15 minutes. We went in to get my daughter a tan. They refused us after telling them she was 13 because we didn't have Identification. We went home , came back with ID and then, and only then did the tell me they don't serve people under 14. So I called ahead. Then went in ...and was sent away, then came back with what they requested and still was sent away. They obviously don't want our business. I certainly will not go back. We did go to Hollywood tan where they gladly did business with us and only needed my identification to tan my daughter. read more

I have been tanning here for about 3 years and I think the places is great. They have a ton of beds to choose from, and also have air brush and mystic, and some other spa type services. I only have the level 1 tanning package since I'm hispanic (I don't like tan lines; I also have an office job so I'm not in the sun much), but occassionally there is a longer wait than I would prefer. It's super easy to upgrade and does not cost that much! The girls are always really friendly and remember my name occassionally. The store has also been upgraded over the recent months and they now sell beachy clothes, in addition to the bags, sunglasses and flip flops they've always sold. The store is always really clean, too. I really enjoy this iTan! read more

Samantha signed me up a few years back. She is Amazing. Answered all my questions and gave me her full attention even though it was a busy day. I was sold on this place due to the cleanliness factor. It Sparkles here.Samantha assured me that the beds were Double Sanitized. I recently moved to Coronado and visited the Point Loma Location. All I will say is that there's No place like Home. Because of Sam's welcoming smile and the fact that I literally haven't seen a bulb out (although they have signs to let them know so that they can fix it immediately) I will go out of my way to make a trip to La Mesa to use my FAVORITE I Tan. Last week was my first visit to an iTan location and I was extremely impressed! The place was immaculate and well organized. The girl who helped me was professional, friendly and knowledgeable, which was a pleasant change from many other salons I have visited over the years! I had a handful of questions and she was able to answer them all with exceptional detail. I purchased two spray tans while I was there. I used one and was impressed with the results. I am going back today for my second! When I return from vacation I am considering buying a membership. They had many options for memberships, all of which were reasonably priced. In addition to standard tanning they also offer some "spa" services (wraps, facial machine, etc). I cannot wait to return! read more

been wanting to tan, and went into this location after reading all of the reviews on here. First, I would like to say that as far as the beds and the location itself are concerned everything was great! However, the reason I give this a 1 star is because of the girl who assisted us when we went into this location to tan. We had found the 7 tans for $7 coupon on the website, and since my roommate and I are both on a tight budget this is ALL we could afford right now for a tan. The girl (can't remember her name, but she was blonde.. then again they're all blonde lol) was going on and on and on and trying to talk us in to signing up for a membership that cost $200 per month! Ummm.. okay, let's do the math.. if I'm walking in because of a coupon for $7 do you REALLY think I can afford $200/month? After saying NO to that a few times and telling her we JUST WANTED THE COUPON special.. then she asked about our lotion.. we had bought our tanning lotion at Wal-Mart Earlier and yes it's cheap lotion but it was for indoor tanning and I have a friend that works at another tanning place out of town and said it was fine. Anyways, the girl asked to see what lotion we were using and when we pulled out the lotion her face dropped "Oh, You got this at wal-mart? What did you pay for this? Like only $8?" Then laughed a sarcastic laugh in our face as if we were stupid... Ummmmm... EVEN IF it's the crappiest lotion ever you do NOT make me feel stupid because I can't afford $40 or $50 lotion... Then after THAT she went BACK INTO begging us to at least sign up for the $19/month membership. ALthough, it's a GREAT deal by that time I would never ever sign up for that with her. I work in sales so I know she was just trying to get a comission and I know how that works, but you do NOT EVER try to pressure people into something that makes no sense for them and you DO NOT ever make your client feel stupid. I was so irritated the rest of the day after my visit and mark my words when I say I will NEVER again visit this location. I will finish my 6 tans at another location since I already paid for them but after that I will not be back to iTan. read more

The service seems great until you try to cancel your membership. After that you have to jump through hoops and pray that they don't lose your paperwork or else you will be charged without a refund. I will never sign up again just for the bad experience in leaving. read more
