Damage to new cabinet
Tammy M.

Purchased countertop through Floor & Decor and both subcontracted Hauspro and Everlasting are terrible. Where to begin... 1. They mixed up the date of install so I had to email them to remind them of the correct date (I have the email string to prove it). 2. When they did get here, I asked them to wear booties as I am 9-months pregnant and not only do I not want dirt to track in the house, but also I don't have a lot of energy to clean up after them. After the guy assured me that he would lay down the tarp and wear booties, only one thing was done -- the tarp. No booties. Ever. 3. With up to 6 crew members inside the house standing around my gas range, no one communicated with me on what's needed. Seeing them confused, I asked and they said they can't install the countertop without uninstalling the gas range, which they don't know how to do. I immediately put my contractor on speaker who let them know that they can just PULL OUT the slide-in gas range. The installation manager acknowledged and hung up the phone -- only for them to NOT pull out the range and leave the countertop uninstalled. 4. They tried to blame the plugged in range as the issue for why they couldn't install the larger countertop. The real issue is the countertop was not precisely so when they put it on, the side touching the wall simply didn't touch. 5. How did I come to find they were leaving for the day, leaving the job unfinished? They started kicking up the tarp, closing the front door, and driving off...!! The only communication I got was "no, we can't put back the kitchen faucet" and "maybe we come back tomorrow". Imagine my surprise when I had to call the office to find out they were not coming back. I have never witnessed such poor installation service, let alone customer service. No communication the entire time of what is going on, what issues were coming up, what to expect as next steps... anything! All I asked was to be updated and none of that happened until I had to call the office multiple time myself. The pictures show how they left my kitchen. This includes the damage they've done to my new cabinets. To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Read the other reviews by Pam, Christine, Ginger, and Sunshine... this is not a fluke. This is the norm with this company.

After!

I had a good experience with Everlasting overall. They have a great showroom with a wide selection and will let you borrow samples to see them in your space. When they arrived to do the install the measurements weren't right but they were quickly able to get another slab delivered and make it happen. The countertops are beautiful and I'm really happy with them!

Counter

Amazing work and professionalism. They removed our existing countertop without breaking a single piece of our tile backsplash. Beautiful cutting work on the new granite with perfectly lined up seams. Fabricators are friendly and professional. Gina and Cruz are lovely to deal with!

Our new quartz kitchen countertops were installed today by Everlasting surfaces and they did an amazing job. They were professional, on time and did a great job. Communication was excellent per email and phone calls.

Multiple cracks

Beware of Everlasting Surfaces in Livermore! We went to MSI with our designer to select and purchase three slabs for our kitchen remodel. After careful consideration and inspection we chose three slabs of quartzite. Once the time came to have the slabs cut we made an appointment to go to Everlasting to approve the layout. After waiting an hour past our appointment time they finally lead us outside to see the templates on the slabs. It was at this time we noticed two of the slabs had MAJOR damage. One had a major crack down the middle, another was pitted with areas of additional cracking. (Pictures attached.) Everlasting first said that they arrived that way... (So how can you accept delivery of severely defective slabs?!) The company failed to take any responsibility for the damage. We have filed a claim with the CSLB (California State License Board). CSLB complaint: In June of 2020 we went to MSI to pick out quartzite slabs to fabricate our kitchen counter tops. We went with our designer so that the slabs would be consistent with the other parts of the kitchen. After we chose 3 slabs of Midnight Fusion we contracted with Everlasting Surfaces to buy the slabs and fabricate the countertops. Everlasting Surfaces purchased the slabs on July 1, 2020. Although we had the renovation plans complete before we found the slabs, the permitting process took a long time because this was the beginning of the pandemic. We had to wait months to get all of the approvals and then we had to revise the plans because of mistakes with the initial engineering drawings. It took months to approve the revised plans. We began construction in January of 2022. In June of 2022 the contractor told us he was ready to have the templates for the countertops made. Everlasting Surfaces made the templates. The following week we went to decide where to put the templates on the slabs. When they brought out the slabs we saw that one of them was broken and the other two were damaged. The people helping us told us that two of the slabs were unusable but the third might be usable. Since the slabs are made of natural stone and the patterns are unique and we needed three slabs to make all of the counter tops we asked for our money back. We were told that since it had been two years since the slabs were purchased that they would not refund our money because the contract we signed had a time limitation. They finally admitted that there is no time limitation in the contract. In addition they never told us that there was any problem storing the slabs in spite of the fact that they had both our phone number and email address. Next Everlasting Surfaces contacted MSI and found that there were 2 remaining slabs of Midnight Fusion and offered to pay half of the cost of the additional slabs. In spite of the fact that they wanted us to pay half the cost of the new slabs even though they broke the original slabs we went with our designer to see if the new slabs would work. Since the slabs were from a different lot the patterns were very different from the original slabs and in addition the new slabs were scratched. Since this compromise wouldn't work we asked for our money back again. I tried to reach Nancy Bishop at Everlasting Surfaces but always got someone else and she never returned my calls. Since Nancy Bishop wouldn't return my calls and our kitchen renovation was stopped until we could get countertops we went with our designer to buy new slabs. The countertops have been fabricated from the new slabs and have been installed.

Old kitchen

Love my new quartz countertops! They exceeded my expectations in matching the pattern and precision fit. The entire job was completed in a day plus a couple hours of demo. Very professional and high quality crew.

Kitchen remodelling is one of the most intricate and very detailed oriented task to tackle. It is…read morethe heart of the house. Being said and before you decide to do kitchen remodelling, make sure you have the time to work closely with your contractor! I worked closely with KF from the design to execution throughout the completion of the project. Let me share my experience with KF in details. Working with their sales rep was a smooth process. We worked with Dean through the selection of cabinets, floors, countertops, sink and faucet. Then here comes the selection of appliances. We shopped around and selected the appliances we will put in our kitchen and then gave the details to KF to incorporate it into the layout of the kitchen. A layout and a 3D model was made for review to visually see how the new layout of the kitchen will look like. This is where the critical part of the work needing your attention. Make sure to check the clearances provided for the appliances are all correct. The designer did not check the size of stove we will use. Mistake was made to our layout. We didn't catch the mistake as well and drawings got released for final approval. Then the execution, demolition to our kitchen took place as scheduled. 2 guys came in to remove all the old cabinets, countertops and appliances. It was a 3 day process to demolish and clear the debris. Prepare the walls for new construction. The electrical work. One electrician started to put new outlets and upgrade our electrical sub panel. This is where it got tricky because the new location of our panel is still part of the walk-in closet. The city inspector pointed out it is against the building code to relocate an electrical panel from a closet to a walk-in closet. The good thing was I was able to divide the walk-in closet into two rooms. I contructed a wall to divide this room into a storage where the new electrical panel is located and a separate walk-in closet. I did this work myself because it was not part of the contract. It will be an additional cost if I have KF do this work! The intallation of the cabinets! This is where we discovered the layout was incorrect. The clearance made for the stove is 36 inches, we ordered 30 inches stove. The location of the cabinet for the garbage was wrong too. KF ended up replacing 5 cabinets at their own expense to correct the layout. Make sure that during this process you check every position and clearances for your appliances are correct. This your final check before countertop measurement! The measurement of countertops and backsplash. A guy came in to make a template for the countertop and backsplash for fabrication. The process is to measure and install countertop first and then measure and install the backsplash. Make sure to check the level and squareness of the backsplash and countertop. I checked the backsplash and it was out of square. I have them corrected it on the spot! This is a very critical process and very expensive to correct if installed incorrectly. The installation of new flooring. I picked LVF to replace our carpet and hardwood. There is only one type of floor we use for the entire house. This went very smoothly and efficient. The worker even show up on Saturday to do the work. He knows how inconvenient for the owner is to move things around to clear the areas to install new flooring. Kudos to this worker who did our floor. The installation of appliances. It went smoothly except the anti tipping bracket of the stove was not properly place to capture one foot of the range. I went back and forth with the installer to correct it but I ended up correcting it myself to get approval from the city. The final touches. Ensure you are there and inspect every square inch of the cabinets and walls. You have to point out to the workers to put caulking on every holes you see. KF workers were not very thorough on their final touches. The final inspection. This is where the city will come in to inspect the electrical work, the wall I constructed, the undersink cabinets and do some testing on new circuits of the kitchen. Check and check their work. If you are not satisfied with their work. Make them correct it. This is your only time to tell them to correct things you are not satisfied. For example I have them replaced the valve of the faucet where one of the hoses has tight bend. Check fittings for leaks. This is very important! As I elaborated above, KF has the means to do the work. The coordination with their project manager was not very proactive. You need to make many follow ups to get the work done. Some days have no work activities. A couple of days they worked upto 8 in the evening! Overall I am happy with the result of their work but I also spent many hours to work with them. At the end of the day, it is you who will live in the house and it's your kitchen! When it comes to cost and the hours I spent working with them, the overall cost of this project was expensive.

They all wanted to just paint them. I wanted them restored to the original finish if at all possible. We paid a lot for these custom cabinets 20yrs ago and really wanted them to be restored to look the same. Michael came out to look at them and told me he has never tried to do work like this before but he was willing to try and felt pretty confident he could do it. If we didn't like it we could always paint them after. It was a risk I decided I wanted to take. We could not wait any longer. 2 of our most used cabinets were severely damaged with water damage - one from a hand towel that had been hanging on it for 20 yrs that would often get damp from hand washing and the other our silverware drawer. They removed all of the damaged cabinet & drawer doors (leaving behind about half of them that had no damage as they were less often used and still looked brand new) and took them to their shop in Livermore. This made the job much harder as they then had to match the color to our existing ones. In addition our kitchen has 2 different paint colors so they had to create 2 different finishes - one a stain and one a paint. Linda, an employee of Michael was in charge of the painting and stain work and the artist who did the work on my cabinets in their factory. She showed us photos along the way and then came back out to reinstall the doors plus also repair the water damage we had on baseboards and cabinet sides that weren't able to be removed. She taped everything off in our kitchen to prep and then spent 2 days refinishing all of the rest of the damage. She was very careful and caused zero problems anywhere around her work. The finished product was absolutely 5 stars - could not have gone any better. I have delayed for way too long giving Michael and Linda credit for the work she did but the benefit to that is that I can now say after over a year (finished Sept 2024) of having the refinished cabinets in my kitchen they have held up perfectly and still all look absolutely brand new (helps not having kids living at home anymore!) I would 100% recommend you to trust Michael and his team to be honest, hard working and skilled crafts people for your cabinets. I was so impressed with him, his business, Linda, and all of their work. Thank you Michael & Linda!

Bought a $729 toilet here, couldn't get it to fit in place and they wouldn't take it back!! When I went to return it they asked me if I placed it on the wax ring and I said "yes" because I had a helper and thought he'd already placed it, but that wasn't the case. The base was free and clear of wax. On my first attempt without the wax ring, I realized I couldn't get the bolts into the slots in the floor fitting because the bolts are inside a hole in the porcelain base of the toilet and the walls on each side of the toilet leave no room to bend my wrist and get the bolts in. At that point I realized it was impossible and decided to return it. When I returned it, they asked if I had put it on the wax ring and I said yes initially, because I thought my friend had tried seating it, but he hadn't. So I returned 2 days later with the toilet, told them it hadn't been seated on the wax and they still refused to take it. Also asked me if I had the box and when I told them "no" they restated that they can't take. The box it comes in is well-made of heavy cardboard and put together with heavy staples. It's made to keep the product safe during shipping. No one can't take that box apart and keep it intact for reassembly!! It wasn't meant to be disassembled and reassembled!! Using the box as a "no return" item tells me these two guys are a pair of "scheisters". Stay away from this place and take your business elsewhere!!! A service appointment was scheduled for today between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to replace the side and lower gaskets on one of the sliding glass barn doors and to address a door that is difficult to slide. No one arrived for the appointment, and I did not receive any notification or call to cancel or reschedule. The Service Manager has also not responded to multiple calls or texts.
