I had to drop off a return at FedEx (which is next door) and because it was during the lunch hour, I decided to pop in to Evergreens and see what they have to offer. Upon entering, I felt nothing but good positive vibes. The atmosphere is vibrant, clean and welcoming. The staff were friendly and personable. I ordered the Steak it Off & Cobb your enthusiasm salads and the ranch the wrapper wrap. Service was quick and friendly. I took the items to go and enjoyed them at home. Excellent first visit for my wife and I yesterday for our dinner. Our daughter had been here once before and thought it was also excellent. We are trying to eat better, and we were looking for a great salad. My wife has been wanting to go to Evergreen for some time as we moved into the Orenco area a little less than a year ago. She is vegetarian so her order is a bit more particular. She had one with Humus and Tofu, our daughter had the Cobb and I had the Southwestern style. We both added chicken and we were impressed. All of our salads were quite good. They close at 6:30, so we ate a bit earlier. But well done Evergreen. The male and female preparing the salads were efficient and quite friendly. A little pricey for a salad, but it's all fresh ingredients you get to either build your own or pick from their menu. My son is vegetarian so sometimes it's hard to just grab fast food anywhere when we're out and about. He's had a wrap from here before so we knew the food was good.! I know the economy is bad, but the baseline price for a salad (just the lettuce and some veggies) is $13-$15. I wanted chicken -add $3 (very small portion maybe 1/4 cup if that). I wanted avocado - add $2 for 1/4 portion of avocado. I saw hummus and thought that might be good - YUP ADD $2! I'm down nearly $20 for a take-out salad that is mostly lettuce. Now for the price you'd think I'd be wowed by the service. NOPE. It's not that the employee was rude, but she wasn't pleasant. She was merely present. No more, no less. This Hillsboro location -near Costco is open M-F till 6:30 pm and closed on weekends. Makes no sense. I don't see how this place will stay in business with crazy high pricing, nothing special salads, and ehh service. I don't plan on being back. read more

My husband ordered from Evergreens for the first time tonight and it wasn't great. My first thought while browsing the menu was, "why are these salads $16-20!!" He received a gift card so he didn't mind ordering them since it didn't cost us anything. He requested "no jalapeños" but there were a lot of them on his salad. My daughter's salad had blue cheese, which she doesn't like, so while I was picking out all the pieces I came across brown, rotten avocado slices and wilted lettuce. NOT OKAY for an $18 salad!! For quite some time, I've been dropping in occasionally at the Evergreens close to the Hillsboro Costco and also at their shop in Cedar Hills Crossing. I really love not having to watch all of those salad ingredients go bad in my refrigerator because I don't eat big salads often enough for them to be used up. I love my custom salad of the dark, flavorful greens (1/2 each arugula and spinach), pickled onions, double dose of julienne carrots, black beans, cilantro, Gorgonzola cheese, cashew nuts, sultana raisins (standard items), extra cost bits: 1/2 avocado and scoop of chicken, finished with a light application of their lime cilantro dressing. Healthy, tasty and filling. Just lovely! for what I have, reasonably priced. Unfortunately, the Cedar Hills shop began buying their dressing from a new company that puts jalapeno in the lime cilantro dressing, which (for me) kills a lot of the taste of the salad, so I don't go to that store anymore. I'm under the impression that the Evergreens shops are closing earlier because of the cold weather. This is a loss for me, because I usually have their salad for dinner. The stores have always seemed clean and orderly. They're plainly decorated, but I have the feeling that serious effort was given to make them attractive, which I appreciate. It's nice that there are tables for customers. I miss being able to buy a beverage, but this is not their focus, so I can get something elsewhere. For what it's worth, I find that the young people behind the counter usually seem to be just putting in their time (I would be, too!), but they respond well to friendly conversation. read more

I love their Cobb salad and the amount of options they have! Only negatives are they are on the pricier side and their hours are very strange. I've pulled up multiple times during what are normal hours for similar restaurants only to find them closed. I got the El Sombrero as a wrap, asked the lady to put chicken in it and she forgot but while eating the second half of my wrap I was able to get some chicken so that took it up a notch! The wrap was really good but the only downside was the chicken was cold and so was the tortilla. This small place is relatively new but was well-staffed on Sunday morning when my friend and I visited to check it out. We chose the grain bowls and were really delighted with all of the free choices we could include--everything from cheese to olives to roasted broccoli and hard boiled egg. Server was good about explaining what things cost extra such as meat and avocado. I believe they offered bacon for free. Really nice selection of dressing choices; I chose cilantro-lime and loved it and my friend enjoyed her Greek dressing. Portions were so large we ended up taking home about half of our bowls in their nice compostable containers. They were very committed to sustainability. If you're going to join their reward program, do so before your first visit so you can get scanned. read more

First time here and SO disappointing. Warm bowl was essentially a bowl of brown rice with few toppings for $14! Maybe $1.50 in ingredients, nothing special for dressing or sauce. Just a few corn bits, tablespoon of jalapeños (without the seeds removed), another tablespoon of red peppers, and some cubed chicken. They play up "2 scoops" of chicken but it amounted to about a 1/3 of a cup. THEN...everything is in excessive amounts of plastic!! Including lids for every item, even when you are dining in. Not sure why places like this think anything they put in front of you, no matter how cheap or bad, demands a $15 price tag. Salads my friends got sucked too ... medium bowl of iceberg for $10-15. Been here a handful of times since they opened and am really glad they chose Hillsboro to add a new location. I love many of the healthy options around here, but another one is nice to have available. Have had the spicy chicken grain bowl once with brown rice, the other time with quinoa. Both were good, not sure i liked one more than the other. Really liked the southwest grain bowl. Not to spicy if you are concerned. If you're concerned about calories, these are filling enough for me that i eat half and save the rest for later. Service is friendly and quick. All the ingredients were really fresh and it was delicious. It is a cute establishment and they make your salad or bowl while you are in line! I'm so excited this place came to our neighborhood. I first noticed this chain while walking around the University Place- area near Seattle, Washington but I didn't get a chance to try it when I was up there. My hubby were able to check out this local location here off Cornell in Hillsboro, after a Costco run. It was very quick- fairly approachable. My hubby got a wrap and I got the salad form, and I also invested the extra $2 for a half of an avocado (it's worth it!) and we just had tap water to drink, and all together our total was $20. I asked what their most popular item was and the lady suggested the El Sombrero so that's what I got, which was ok. I mean, it was what I probably could make at home. My husband ordered a custom wrap and my son got one of their signature wraps that was Thai inspired. They both could not finish it after a few bites. Not sure if it's more because they are not big salad eaters or they just didn't know what they were ordering realizing that it didn't appeal to their palates. This is NOT the Sweet Tomatoes which many who love veggies and soup came to adore before the Pandemic forced it into oblivion. You definitely pay for any extra ingredient that you want on your salad...from an extra scoop of beets to more salad dressing. On November 12 when I went in with a friend a petite short-haired woman made my salad and with a very pinched face let me know she wanted to be any place but at work. She charged me for every little extra ingredient I got and gave me very small portions. My salad was under-dressed and skimpily vegetized. The previous bubbly young lady gave me generous scoops of beets and apples which cut into mouth-sized pieces, whereas, this person gave me less than modest "scoopings" that were cut into very small minced pieces. Topped by one of the minciest pieces of half-avocado. We asked for a cup of water...and got a filthy glass with no ice in it. I didn't finish my mince-y salad...and went across the street to grab a more generous vegetarian dish at New Seasons...A waste of money and time on a glorious blue sky day.
