Jerks will use any excuse they can to not take insurance plans. The entire medical industry is so fueled by greed that most of them refuse to be in network. Thanks to that and the fact that there are so few places that offer a good pelvic floor specialist, has made it so I cannot get any help covered by my insurance and I can't afford to go to pt without it. So despite their website, which can't be read on a mobile screen, stating they take ppos they still told me they won't take my insurance plan that is a ppo. Their website lies, and is poorly designed. read more

About year ago I injured my lower back during weightlifting competition. Ever since then I have been battling with lower back pain on a daily basis. I've met with several clinicians since and even though they provided temporary relief, my back pain would always come back requiring more visits and frustration. Almost at the point of giving up and trying everything I contacted Chris to help. Chris was able to not only identify my issues but showed me how I can correct my issues to relieve my symptoms. Chris corrected my posture and provided me exercises to properly support my lower back. Most importantly he provided me ways to allow me to still participate in weightlifting competitively. My orthopedist recommended Evergreen and I can see why he did after I received care from their therapists Louise and Chris. Even though my shoulder injury was not severe the therapists understood this pain was extremely serious to me as I wanted to return to my normal activities and play tennis at a competitive level again. My main therapist Louise helped me change my posture, sleeping position and provided the required exercises and technique so that I could return to playing tennis without aggravating the injury again. This office is very active but the front desk manager -Brian is friendly and keeps everything going and helps schedule appointments that fit your calendar. About a year ago, my left knee took a pop for the worst. First time it happened was when I shook my knee; the next was walking off the curb. Both were very excruciating experiences. After getting an x-ray and MRI from my orthopedic physician, there was no sign of tears or fractures. I still had limited range of motion with bending and extending my leg. At this point, my physician prescribed some PT (Physical Therapy) sessions in hopes to get my mobility back. I asked a co-worker of mine who recommended me to go to Evergreen Physical Therapy located in Pasadena. I was so glad I did. The people here are very attentive and knowledgeable in their trade. Using everything from stretching, muscle and joint manipulation, to strengthening procedures, they were able to push my knee back down to full functional capacity. In addition, they leave you with the basic knowledge of self-training techniques to take home with you. I've never used yoga poses before, but it has helped me so much with stretching out my tense muscles for my leg. This was a very big plus to include in my everyday life. Now I can go on walks around the neighborhood to hiking up the hillsides again. Maybe I'll go on a marathon run one of these days... mmmm... nah. :) Much love to my PT specialist Elena and Louise. I had a partial tear of my trapezius muscle about a week ago. I saw Nick a couple times and he helped me get my ROM back quickly and I was back in the gym in 6 days, doing light work but still I was amazed at the speed of recovery. The front desk service at Evergreen is the best!!! They are truthful, efficient, sympathetic, accommodating and sensitive to one's needs. My whole family goes to this clinic and it all begins at the front desk. My favorite girl is Tabitha Wang. She knows her stuff and she gets the insurance approval where no other clinics can obtain as efficiently as she does..... and within a short period of time too. Other clinics get up to 6 months to get insurance approval. not only that I had to pay out front!! It is one stressful thing off my back to have a girl who knows how to work the system to benefit both the customer and the clinic. All I have to do is to get better. read more

I first went to Evergreen for a back problem. I wasn't happy with my first therapist, but transferred to another and through a series of therapies, I healed. I wanted to continue to strengthen my back and keep fit, so I scheduled 10 sessions with Trish. Those were ok, but not exceptional. After taking a bit of a break, I decided I needed to keep working out and ended up going back. During about the 3rd session after I returned, I was put through the most rigorous workout I have ever had with a trainer. Trish kept telling me not to stop, because she wanted to get my heart up...I ended up passing out and being taken to the emergency room in an ambulance. The diagnosis was directly connected to the workout. When a friend picked up my car in their parking structure, the person managing the parking told my friend that cars are often left there longer when people go to the hospital. He asked if that happened often. She said, "Oh yeah." read more

I was recommended to see Anne Ellis at Evergreen. After just a few (3-4) months of Anne's treatment and therapy and through work of my own, I was able to completely overcome the disorder. My 13 year old daughter plays club soccer and pulled her hamstring. She saw 2 other physical therapists before we went to Liz Ashoff at Evergreen. Liz is so great! She always told us what she was doing and why. It made my daughter feel good about what was happening in each session. Since Liz is also a soccer player, she understood exactly which muscles were overused and which ones needed strengthening. I agree with the other reviews. I highly recommend Evergreen Physical Therapy! My daughter is a ballet dancer and was referred to Evergreen to see Annette and Elena who specialize in dance PT--Annette and Elena have such a good understanding of the specific needs of a dancer and have been so beneficial for our daughter. Sally Howard is an absolute expert on head, neck and TMJ/jaw pain. I have experienced headaches for most of my adult life and was desperate for an answer to "why" I was getting so many headaches and how I could prevent or treat them in a more proactive, drug-free manner. When making an appointment for my daughter I saw that Evergreen offered physical therapy for headaches--I had nothing to loose, so I made an appointment. From day one, Sally was amazing. The first day she took time to talk with me in detail about my history and what I was experiencing. With each visit she helped me discover what was causing my pain and gave me tools to help relax the muscles that were causing such miserable pain. I am now approaching 3 months without using daily pain medication and I am feeling great. I will gladly refer her name to anyone experiencing head, neck or jaw pain. Let me also add that I live an hour away from Pasadena--Sally is worth the drive! The staff at Evergreen is great! Brian is always patient about scheduling and changing appointments, and in the event that you need to be put on a wait list, they actually call you when openings become available to try to move your appointment up. I cannot say enough good things about Evergreen and its owner, Dave Johnson, in particular. In the age of the HMO pt place, where someone stands around and watches you do exercises for 30 minutes, Dave is by contrast completely hands on. My sessions involve intense physical manipulation for an hour--incredibly hard work on his part. He has helped make my chonic back pain manageable (he actually figured out that my hip is the main problem), and more recently, he has helped to "thaw" a frozen shoulder, which was agony. He is a genius; I am even paying out of pocket to see him (he does accept a lot of insurance, just not my silly plan...). You will not be disappointed. read more

I have been struggling for months with a piriformis syndrome that gave me horrible pains and led me to a bag sciatic. I had to stop exercising and I could not even sit on a chair for more than 20 mn....car rides were excruciating and plane flights .... just out of the question. I have tried 2 orthopedics surgeons and a specialist in pain that all told me there was nothing to do to relieve my pain because MRI and other X rays were showing everything "normal". One day, after being recommended by Dr Aurelia Nattiv from UCLA, I was told that physical therapy could help me. I ended up at Evergreen where Dave Johnson actually listened to me with more attention. He looked for my pain and for the muscle that was hurting me for so long. For the first time in months, I finally had someone in front of me that was going to really look into my muscles. In just 3 cessions, he was able to stop my pain. I just could not believe it. Once I was no longer in pain, I was then able to start with him and his other therapists a program that was going to strength all my hip muscles so that we would prevent my pain from coming back. It was a long journey and I am still recovering and stabilizing my posture and my muscles but .... I am SO grateful to Dave but also Melanie to have put me back in shape. The team at Evergreen is kind, friendly and experienced. Dave is constantly training students from different colleges of the area. You can also see amputated patients leaving the place walking again, young ballet dancers are swinging again. For me, that place is where I got to enjoy my life again because the word pain was not part of my daily routine anymore. I can only recommend it. read more

A wonderful clinic with therapists who actually rehabilitate you so that you can return to the activities you enjoyed doing before the injury. I developed serious pain in my left hip area while weightlifting (back squat/145) over the course of six to eight months. I was referred to the very capable Ana at Evergreen through the recommendation of my Pilates instructor, and I saw Ana for the next three months once a week while she manually manipulated the area of tension and gave me a lot of homework exercises I needed to do in order to ease the clenched-up muscles. Ana, after a few months, then traded off with Chris, a powerlifter therapist also at Evergreen, who helped me change my lifting stance/positioning and technique so that I could return to the exact same activities that most likely caused the injury without aggravating the same injury again, which was my number 1 goal when I started treatment at Evergreen. I'm delighted to report that, with the modifications I've made through the wonderful and knowledgeable guidance of both Ana and Chris, I'm back to all regular activities and couldn't be happier. I can't recommend the facility enough. The facility itself large with a lot of patients filtering in and out, and because of the sheer number of patients on a daily basis, it's best to set your schedule ahead of time. Par for the course for a clinic this size, but the front desk always manages well and are patient and friendly throughout everything. read more

After a few visits to Evergreen, I can wholeheartedly endorse the PT work that is done here. After having back problems and hamstring issues for many years, Jeff Lee diagnosed the real causes of my problems and began working on a number of exercises which gradually improved my back and leg muscles. I have been seeing the physical therapist Chris Wong for a couple of sessions for my knee pain. Chris specialize in sports medicine and I feel like he is my personal trainer but better than a personal trainer at the gym. Not like a personal trainer at the gym who is in a hurry to the next exercise, he really takes the time to teach me about each particular exercise and video tape them so I can remember. after 1 - 2 sessions the knee pain is gone 90%, even after a long day of 12 hour shift walking on my feet all the time. I felt stronger after the sessions, the exercises are simple to remember and practice on my own, effective, and exactly what I needed. I will definite recommend him. the environment of the facility is cozy and friendly. it is not only a place for people to recover from surgeries and injury, but for average people who have minor aches and imbalance to get better and stronger. read more

I cannot say enough about Sally Howard at Evergreen. My family and I feel so blessed to have found her. My mom who has struggled with TMJ issues for over 15 years, had an extensive surgery to correct the issue a few years ago. Her doctor at UCLA referred her to Sally and she began working with her a day after surgery. My mom completely attributes the success of her surgery to Sally. My grandpa and I have both had TMJ issues and Sally has always come to the rescue. I recently had a dental procedure and was forced to keep my mouth open longer than I should. It was extremely painful to open my jaw and so I called Evergreen almost immediately. Even though Sally was busy for a few weeks, she reached out to me to see if I would like to come in earlier. After a few sessions, my jaw feels immensely better. She truly cares about the wellbeing of her patients and she does indeed have magic hands. I feel so lucky to have found Evergreen Physical Therapy after my shoulder surgery! From the time I called to schedule my very first appointment until I graduated 5 months later, I had an amazing experience. Everyone at the front desk was extremely kind, helpful and professional. At 67 years old I was really worried when I hurt my right leg hamstring. I was in pain and the leg felt weak and I had lost mobility. I thought I would never completely recover and not be able to hike and do the things I like to do. My first session with Liz was amazing. Once again I had the pleasure of having the Evergreen PT Specialists work on the injured part of my body(shoulder). Dr Anne Ellis did some miraculous release work and within 24-48 hours I was pain free and had much improved range of motion. I called Evergreen 45 minutes before closing and Saint Myrna got me in with Dr Ellis. This organization is filled with professionals who provide you with a very positive and fun experience in their open and friendly environment. They serve all ages and do so with respect and a genuine desire to help you relieve the discomfort. Really great for kids. Lots of help received but the facility has stairs. That was a huge issue as the staircase was in the treatment area. I train in the sport of Olympic Weigtlifting and as any athlete of any sport know, injuries happen. This past April, I partially tore my left medial collateral ligament performing a snatch. I was pretty much bed ridden for about 2-3 weeks after my injury and I sought help from PT Chris Wong leading into the end of my 3rd week of recovery. I can't say enough how fortunate I was to have Chris guide me through my rehabitiliation. He made me feel like he was there for me every step of the way. He was very professional and had me do exercises to strengthen the muscles and ligaments around my knee and slowly raised the intensity of my rehab program based off of my knee's daily progress. He was incredible and knows what he is doing. He is a great example of a knowledagble physical therapist. Most PTs or doctors that I came across basically said weightlifting was dangerous and should be avoided or that I shouldn't lift again and to simply just rest and lay off my knee and showed me some basic exercises to do and that was it. Yet, Chris (who is also a weightlifter and coach himself) didn't believe that and knew that understanding our body and strengthening our mechanics will lead to a healthier body and transfer over to a stronger recovery; thus, lead to better performance. I was able to take away a lot from working with him. He guided me into my 8th week, which is the approximated time for an high grade 2 mcl recovery, and as of today, I am currently in my 4th week of full on training again and I feel great. I am able to do all full range movements such as squat (front and back), clean, and snatch (AGAIN!! and WITHOUT FEAR or INTIMIDATION of the movement). I was able to roll back into the swing of things and feel like nothing happened. Chris is amazing and I am so thankful for his guidance and care throughout this whole ordeal. If you have him as your PT, you are very fortunate and in great hands. read more

Lindy is FANTASTIC! I stumbled upon Evergreen P.T. by happenstance. In addition to a broken wrist I had a broken tailbone and could not drive and Evergreen was the closest P.T. facility within walking distance. It just so happened that they have an exceptional Occupational Therapist that specializes in hands/wrist, Lindy. I did not realize, until I met her and started therapy with her, how lucky I was to find her and how important it is to have an Occupational Therapy Specialist rather than a standard physical therapist. I later heard other stories of mediocre therapists resulting in less desirable results. Lindy is extremely experienced, knowledgable, encouraging, and just lovely to work with. My doctor said I was ahead of the curve when it came to my recovery and i'm almost back to full range of movement. I attribute that to the work Lindy did with me. THANK YOU LINDY! . . .
