Nothing beats the intelligence of the Iyengar system, imho! I will say that Paul has a unique way of balancing his precise knowledge with a very spacious accommodation, which is TRULY the art of an engaged teacher. However, there are other instructors here (I won't name names) that unfortunately trigger my sympathetic nervous system with their tone, and overuse of the word "should." As much as I try to get past this, my breath and body just become tight, and I don't move as freely with overly managed instruction. Yoga House could be one of the last studios on the Eastside that uphold the integrity of a yogic learning environment. As a yogi of 25 years, and an instructor myself, I recommend the Iyengar classes to anyone working to heal injuries and those who want to deepen their practice. It's not a miracle, but a more serious approach to yoga can be transformative, on many levels.

I recently attended the class for people with mobility challenges, led by the incredible Peggy, and it was truly a transformative experience. As someone living with Lupus and Muscular Dystrophy, finding a movement space where I feel safe, seen, and supported has been a long journey. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed--not just by the staff, but by the beautiful community that gathers here. There's a genuine warmth in the room that you can feel, and Peggy's presence and guidance made all the difference. She was patient, attentive, and so compassionate, offering helpful adjustments and making sure each student felt comfortable and included. The studio is clean, calm, and absolutely beautiful. They offer plenty of props to support your practice, and the meditation beginning and at the end of class was the perfect way to wind down and reconnect with myself. It's rare to find a space that honors both your limitations and your potential--but Pasadena Yoga House does just that. If you're looking for a welcoming, inclusive, and healing space to move, breathe, and just be--you've found it. I have to add that I am someone who does NOT enjoy climates over 70 degrees, but I adjusted really quickly and felt like a new person after class. Diego has an incredibly magnetic personality, and I can tell you that you will never be a stranger if he is in the room. If you're starting your fitness journey, as I was when I first met him, I guarantee you will keep coming back if you start here. Diego knows how to push and encourage people without making anyone feel singled out or intimidated. He also does a great job fostering a fun, supportive sense of community in every class. Pair that with a bangers-only playlist, and you will get the serotonin/ dopamine boost that will keep you coming back. Additionally, spin is soft on the knees but still a killer workout that will keep your heart pumping. I didn't prepare for the parking but was lucky to find street parking a block away that was free 1 hour parking. I got there just at the start of class and Lena was my instructor and was great. She walked through poses clearly, checked folks for correction and helped vocalize our breathing patterns which I found really helpful. It was my first time using some of the equipment so that was fun and it definitely helps with the getting the shakes. I did feel sore after the class, and would come back!
