After writing multiple emails to request my refund almost a month ago, she has not replied. I reached out to multiple of her emails and she still will not respond. I sent one last email 2 days ago and she continues to IGNORE. Therefore, I am taking this onto the small claims court. Like the other victims of her, this is hours of time wasted on her but I am not just letting her get away with $1200 and continue to have others become victims. BE AWARE OF THIS BUSINESS AND THE OWNER. UPDATE: Owner responded under this comment claiming that she does not offer refunds and that it was stated in her studio policy. For us THERE WAS NO STUDIO POLICY SHOWN AND WE DID NOT SIGN ANYTHING. We were also not gone for a month, she did not notify us of her absence so we waited outside over 10 minutes for class and then emailed her to ask why she didn't show up. The week after was the holidays so my girls had winter break for two weeks. However, I told her exactly when we will resume in which she did not disagree with and then when we showed up on 1/6, she doubled booked. CLASS get last min CANCELLED WITHOUT NOTICE 4 TIMES in a roll. After 10 months of effort, complaining to Local police, Langham hotel and Better Business Bureau, Apple Pay......nothing works. I still have got my money back. it's $840 plus hours wasted on this matter. I think Yelp may be the only Chanel to help others to avoid what we went thru. I've been going to Pure Pilates for 6 months now. I started when it was at the Langham, and have since relocated to the Foothill blvd location. I LOVE the new workout space. It's a light filled loft, very private and zen. Easy parking. I've been working out with a personal trainer for 13 years, 3-4 times per week. I added Jacqueline and the Pilates sessions to that (2x per week) and WOW I have to say that my body feels so much stronger and I can see the changes in my posture and flexibility. Before going to Jacqueline I had never even tried Pilates. I felt intimidated. I'm definitely not bendy, and have a bit more weight on me than the typical pilates student. ALL YELPERS ALERT: This instructor constantly canceled scheduled class (5 weeks in a row) and is full of lies. She always tells you to buy package in advance and after that, starts giving out all kinds of excuses ( many times her son being sick, husband out of town or car problem. Please refer to other Yelpers' text pictures too) to cancel class. It breaks my heart to see a mother lie about her son being sick, but apparently she used this same excuse on many of her clients. I actually believed her many times until I saw other Yelpers comments. I suspect that her business model is to keep luring new clients in and use the first couple class to persuade new clients to buy packages in advance ( 10 or 20 classes). After this, she would start her canceling-class trick. Based on other yelper's experience, it seems like she would also promise refund but will never refund when she cancel classes many times in a row. Please be careful. read more

BUYER BEWARE!!! I would give 0 stars if it was possible. I originally contacted Jacqueline in November 2022 to inquire about her services. She mentioned that the earliest classes she offered were 6am. Which is exactly what I was looking for because I wanted to work out before work. I paid for 20 sessions in cash (which I guess is my fault, but she seemed trustworthy). She stated that she would give me a receipt the next she saw me. After that I kept requesting the receipt numerous times but was never given one. She always had an excuse as to why she couldn't provide me with one. Either her husband/boyfriend was going to make the invoice but hadn't had a chance or she forgot it and she would email it, but then I never got anything. Then when I would try to schedule the early sessions with her she would either not show up or send me a text saying that she didn't sleep well the night before and she would Comp me or reschedule. This often happened while I was already on my way to the studio. I have asked for a refund for the remaining sessions on multiple occasions because it seems our schedules are not compatible. She refuses to refund me the money, and every time that I make a new appointment she cancels on me with very little notice. She is absolutely unprofessional and I would not recommend her. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect because I'd never been to this studio and I was pleasantly surprised! The studio is elegant and intimate. I've been working with Jacquie for a year and love going to her studio! She is a wonderful instructor and can work with clients of all experience and fitness levels. When I started, I was totally new and Jacquie helped explain everything along the way - it never felt intimidating. Her positive attitude and encouragement is ever present and she has a great, wholistic approach. The best thing about the this studio is the very small, intimate class size. You are guaranteed to get the attention you need and won't feel lost like you might in a bigger class. All of the other clients I've been in classes with have been really nice - her studio definitely attracts great people! Part of what brought me to Pilates was a lower back injury. I threw my back out and could hardly walk for several weeks a few years back. The doctor diagnosed me with a bad L5 disc and recommended I try Pilates to strengthen my core and improve my back problems. After that incident, I proceeded to throw my back out a few more times and it felt like a chronic problem I would just have to live with. I finally decided to give Pilates a try and it has made all the difference! I feel so much stronger and I have not had back issues since! It really is amazing what Pilates can do for your body. In addition to core strength, I never felt like I had much upper body strength. Now, I can really see more definition in my arms and everything feels like it has tightened up. My husband also really enjoys coming and it has been fun to come together on the weekends! He does more of a cross-fit style workout during the week and he feels like this is a great compliment to his workout routine. He has been pleased by what a good workout you can get and how it targets and stretches your whole body. Being busy professionals, we find that we spend a lot of time sitting at a desk and Jacquie always incorporates a lot of stretching that our bodies really need. Last, but not least, the studio is beautiful! Who wouldn't want to work out here?!?! It's such a pleasant place to come, tucked into a private corner of the Langham Carriage House. I always park on Oak Knoll (just south of the hotel entrance) and walk over to the studio. It's almost the same walk distance as the valet and it's free! I have been attending Jacquie's classes for almost a year and have been to several different Pilates studios and teachers during that time as well. Jacquie is one of the best. She has been teaching Pilates for a long time and is very knowledgeable. She is a great beginner teacher because she is very patient and understanding. At the same time, once you know what you are doing, she will challenge you and you will get a good whole body workout. Her private lessons are really good as well since she will customize the class for you whether you want to recover from an injury or focus on a certain part of your body. Classes only have a maximum of three people so you are always guaranteed her attention and all the students who go to this studio are really nice. Pure Pilates is located at The Langham, but is privately owned and located next to the gym. There is ample street parking and the studio itself is clean, elegant, and inviting. I first discovered Pure Pilates when I walked past it to go to The Langham Huntington Hotel's spa and immediately I noticed the stunning space and called to book an appointment. Since moving to Pasadena from downtown los angeles a few years ago, I'd been trying to find a new pilates studio as it was too far to commute regularly to downtown just for a fitness class. I absolutely loved my first session with Jacqueline--she is such a great instructor and I love that her classes are very small that they're like private lessons so you get individualized attention! You can also books duo classes or privates, and her studio is beautiful and a lovely space for taking a reformer class. Her equipment is top of the line and she makes sure that you're comfortable while at the same time, challenging your body and expanding your range of motion. I felt much tighter and toned after one class, and I already signed up for more! I also love how her studio is located at one of the most beautiful places in town: The Langham Hotel! She's also conveniently located next to the spa, so you can always get a massage or hit the hot tub before or after your workout. My prior wonderful experiences with Langham and its delightful personnel brought me to this Pilates studio. I thought this studio, located on the Langham hotel's premises, was operated by the Langham. Langham has since informed me that it does not operate the studio, and that the studio was operated by a third party vendor, a Ms. Potter of Pure Pilates. I informed Potter I was interested in group sessions when I first contacted her. She represented she gave two-person sessions. I specifically asked if I needed to find a second person. She said that the studio would assemble the group; we scheduled a session. I agreed to Potter's time changes on two occasions to accommodate her other client's private session time changes. She insisted I pay in advance for a series of duo sessions, by Zelle only. After inducing me to purchase a series of sessions, she cancelled three times during a seven-day period, with different excuses. (Potter's cancellations were consistent with another Yelp reviewer who reported that she used an emergency excuse, after a no-show.) After two sessions, Potter informed me for the first time that she was not interested in duo/group sessions, which she induced me to purchase in advance just days before. Despite my repeated requests, she refused to call me after I had paid in advance for the sessions. I've never left a bad Yelp review. Below are details of my experiences. My flexibility, understanding, and generosity of spirit were exploited by Potter, until she filled her empty time slot. On the first scheduled session, a Monday, Potter did not show. When I texted her fifteen minutes after my session start time, she said she had a flat tire. She asked me to come the next day for a free session. I empathized with her flat tire explanation, and declined the free session. The next day, a Tuesday, I received a private session because the other person did not show. During the session, Potter was professional and pleasant. After my first session, she asked me to buy 10 group/duo sessions by Zelle because her credit card machine was not "up". She offered no explanation why she could not simply turn on the credit card machine. I was uncomfortable with paying for sessions in advance by Zelle, as I would not have any recourse if she did not honor the sessions. She stated, "You can trust me." I reiterated my preference for paying in advance by credit card, or paying cash after each session. She then proposed I purchase by Zelle five duo sessions, for a 20% discount. I was still reluctant to Zelle in advance, but relented as a compromise, informing her I intended to use the duo sessions within a week. I received a private second session on Wednesday because the other person did not show. My next scheduled session was Friday. Potter texted less than 20 minutes before my Friday session that she was unavailable because she had a sinus infection and was unwell. I again empathized, wished her a speedy recovery, and rescheduled our session for Monday morning. Given her unreliability, I texted her Sunday evening to confirm our early Monday morning session. She said she was unavailable Monday without offering any explanation. I asked her to call me Monday. She refused to call, and texted me Monday stating that she was only available on Wednesday for our session that week. I agreed to Wednesday and expressed my concern that within a seven-day period she cancelled three times at the last minute: one was fifteen minutes after the session start time; one was 20 minutes before the session; and one was 10 hours before the session, and only when I sought confirmation. She eventually admitted that she was no longer interested in group/duo sessions, as they were not profitable, and suggested I seek out other studios. To add further insult to injury, she said she no longer validated parking and asked that I seek residential street parking and walk. I asked for a refund for three sessions, and after two requests, she Zelle-d me the refund. She never called me. She later revealed that she had secured a private session for my early morning time slot. In retrospect, Potter induced me to pay upfront for a series of group sessions, which I'm not sure she ever intended to fully honor. She should have been upfront that she was only interested in giving private sessions, and not cancel last minute as if my time did not matter. Had she bothered to call me back, she would have discovered I had a friend for the duo class, and I would have considered private sessions. Because she was so unreliable, and had been so disrespectful of my time, I would never recommend Potter's services to a friend! I hope Langham's management appropriately enforces its professionalism, reliability, and service centered reputation on all who operate on its premises. Poor treatment by third party vendors operating on Langham's premises tarnish its image. read more

I am so happy there is a beautiful Pilates studio right by my house in San Marino. Ive been practicing Pilates for 17 years and Jacquie is by far is the BEST instructor. Jacquie is well informed with beginner to advanced practices. She challenges my body to work hard and gets every muscles working in my body. This is truly one of the most beautiful studios! I have had the pleasure to work with several of the team members including Jacquie, the owner, and I have always received consistent, top-notch instruction. At the start of each class I am asked about injuries, how I'm feeling, and if I need to work in any specific areas. I appreciate this level of attention to my needs. Also, the team does a great job of explaining the moves and demonstrating if necessary. The group class is really like semi-private class because there's availability for three people. The studio offers validation for parking, but there is street parking available also. I am in my 60s and I had heard that Pilates is great for older people, but it seemed so intimidating. It took me a while to jump in, but I am so glad I did and that I did it with Jacquie and Kim. They are both wonderful teachers who instantly made me comfortable with the machines and with my ability to do this. I have been at it for a couple of months and I feel so much better. I notice my posture, strength and flexibility are all much improved. The classes are small - no more than three people, so you you get a lot of individual attention, which is very important if you want to get the most out of your session. I have been doing pilates with Jacquie for close to 2 years now and cannot recommend her highly enough. Jacqueline is an amazing Pilates instructor. If I could give her 10 I would ! She is keen to understand what your goals are, then addresses your needs for injuries or areas that need extra work. I have had nine back surgeries and I have been able to gain strength, flexibility, mobility and even a little weight loss in the six months I've been seeing Jacqueline. Using the Cadillac machine and reformer Pilates machine is the only way to go! Especially if you want to lengthen your muscles and gain flexibility and mobility, and balance. I also have fibromyalgia and this has helped ease some of my pain as well.I've been able to find much pain relief from my lower back problems with Jacquie's techniques. I had numerous Pilates Instructors before Jacquie, but once I met her, I stuck with her for over 2 years since she is the best Pilates Instructor I ever had. This is in response to SC. I've been taking private lessons from Jacqui for almost 2 years (minus Covid). I think SC might not understand how Pilates sessions work. You pay upfront for a block of lessons. This is the case in any private/semi-private Pilates studio. Pure Pilates is not a large group, walk-in type of studio. Jacqui has never 'forced' me to purchase her classes and always informs me of any discounts she may be running at any given time. She could just continue to charge me for private lessons at her standard rate and not offer specials. But she does. Also, I have never once had a problem with using a credit card to pay for my sessions. As for missing appointments or calling at the last minute, that has happened, but we always work it out. It sometimes happens on my end too. Most importantly, Jacqui is VERY good at her job. Knows the body well and has a keen sense of what my body needs. She tailors each session for those specific needs. I hope the Langham knows what an expert teacher they currently have with Jacqui and will seriously consider the many positive reviews over this one disgruntled person who doesn't seem to know how specialized, private studios operate. read more

Gorgeous studio with very small, personalized group reformer classes, and teachers that are paying attention to your body's needs. Most pilates studios lately seem to be hybrids that only care about cardio and global muscles, but zero about form. So finding Pure Pilates was a breakthrough.
