Came here to try tower pilates but was sad we didn't get to do any :( Took the level 1 class but if you've done lagree and wanted to try tower, I'd book a higher level class! The studio is more casual less aesthetic than the ones in la.Classes are as good as the instructor and unfortunately I left this place not feeling my best. The instructor that taught my morning class talked to me and the two girls there like we were kids and would make u feel dumb. It was probably unintentional but she definitely did not create a safe space. I would not come back cause of this. Every instructor has been excellent. They are all well trained and know how to work with clients. I prefer the Pasadena location for privates, because it has private rooms. The Senior Pilates Class is one of the few activities that can entice me to get off the couch and is the reason I'm able to do so. Tailored for seniors (65 + ), it provides a good workout without the self consciousness that might come with being in a class with younger, more advanced students. I LOVE coming to this light filled studio with only 6 machines. You get support from your instructor as to not injure yourself and learn to recognize your core. I have been coming for 6 months, at the urge of my PT. Love it: great team of experts, well organized, warm, energetic and genuinely interested in everybody learning, making progress, and taking care of oneself. I particularly appreciate that there are many options (day, time, level, private or group): that's the only way I can make it work and make sure I go a minimum of once a week (around work and travel schedule). Life-Changing Instructor - Geri is Truly One of a Kind! I've had chronic back and shoulder pain from scoliosis since I was young. Over the years, I've tried everything--physical therapy, chiropractic care, neuro therapy--you name it. Nothing ever really worked... until I found Geri. I started attending her Pilates classes in May 2023, and I genuinely haven't felt this good in my body in years. She has something special. Through classical Pilates, she's helped realign my spine and hips and completely transformed the way I move and feel. I've had a chronic bad back since before 2010, and my prescribed physical therapists only took me so far. And mind you, I'm one of those guys who did way too much bench press and curls and not enough legwork my entire life--because I didn't feel something like Pilates would help my body. But the worse my back got, the more I knew I was wrong--or I should say, the more my wife knew I was wrong. She said, "Hey, maybe it's worth it to just pay for someone who specializes in this," rather than relying on my physical therapist who just gave me a printout and sent me on my way with some badly drawn exercises. (I've had some goods PT's - I just needed MORE) This was around 2019. And Melissa is passionate and hardcore about researching new exercises, working in the classics, and helping your body through and through. I've had five back procedures now, and each time I've "treated" myself to private classes with Melissa in addition to the physical therapist assigned by my hospital. I can say I'm in a much better place than I was in 2019 when I began. And as an aside--if you're comparing to any stretch companies out there--I did the same thing. For less than the price of a 20-minute stretch session, you get about an hour of a private class with Melissa (the owner) or one of her other teachers, depending on the schedule. Throw in 15 bucks extra and your significant other can join you. (I brought my wife--but I'm sure you can bring a friend.) 2019 to present. There are countless positive things to say about this extraordinary boutique studio! Last year, I decided to try Pilates and fell into a restrictive and expensive corporate studio that requires a membership fee, signing a contract and refused to allow me to terminate membership even with a 30 day notice. Classes were crowded, instructors weren't helpful or concerned with students' progress or safely, the rooms were dimly lit, the music was too loud and it was an extremely frustrating environment for me. Melissa, the owner of Gold Line Pilates has assembled a team of dedicated, experienced instructors and created a positive and relaxing environment. With only 6 students per group class; instructors have the time to observe all students, especially those that are new to Pilates. Everything is explained and all movements are broken down allowing full benefit to students. Instructors are calm and aren't yelling or wearing headsets. The reformers and other equipment are of the highest quality. The studio isn't loud, dimly lit, crowded or chaotic like the corporate chain studio. Gold Line doesn't require a membership fee or contract. There is a true sense of comradery between the students and instructors. Melissa is an extremely professional and knowledgeable teacher as are the rest of the staff. I have gained strength, balance and flexibility and learned so much from her, Lolly, Erika and the others. I've never done pilates and was looking for a new way to exercise in focusing on my health. I get bored at the gym and was looking for something low impact. My sister had seen good reviews for Gold Line so I thought, why not? I took 3 one-on-one classes with Ana, who was so kind and pushed me to the perfect extent! She helped me get familiar with the equipment and movements so I could feel more confident going into classes. I just had my first class with Melissa and couldn't enjoy it more! I'm hooked. I have legit never had an experience like this. I wasn't even going to leave a review until the owner decided to let me know she has never had a negative Yelp review, so I guess there's a first for everything! I found the online booking system confusing, which I am happy to admit was my error. I made a mistake twice booking for the wrong location. The first time I didn't notice until the day of the session, and Melissa was very understanding and sent me a code to reschedule. I did not expect or ask for this, I would have paid the fee, I understand 24 hour policies - so to have this used in a retaliatory way later was bizarre. I had a great experience in my session and therefore logged on to book a second session. However, I once again booked the wrong location (the site is not super clear, and I admit I got confused by it twice!) I canceled IMMEDIATELY, within 5 minutes. The website said I would be credited, but I was charged and no refund ever came through. I emailed twice through the email address the site says to contact through, to no response. I gave it 4 days. Finally I texted to say that I would have to do a dispute through the bank since I had not heard back. At this point Melissa accused me of threatening her and took a very strange, toxic tone with me that I found extremely jarring. There was no need for any of this, and if your email address on your website is wrong or you don't check it, perhaps you should change it or not suggest that as your main point of contact if you experience booking issues? I have truly never had an experience like this with a business owner and as someone brand new to Pilates, it really turns me off the entire experience. Luckily there are plenty of other studios to attend in the area that hopefully aren't run by a bully. read more

Prior to moving to Pasadena, my closest access was only Club Pilates, which was great due to their multiple locations. However, after switching over to Gold Line, I LOVE it so much more! The classes are much smaller (max 6 people), which allows the instructor to give you more individual attention, correcting your posture. Like many people, I started my fitness journey with Apple Fitness+ while I was working from home. And it was really fun to explore lots of different "activities" - yoga, palates, strength training. And, at first, the encouragement from the virtual instructors was really nice. But after awhile, the "go team" and "you've got this" coming from my TV just stopped being motivational... and I stopped exercising. And as a person who spends long hours siting at a desk (or in a plane), I really need to exercise. So I began looking around for something else. That's when I found Melissa. Her positive attitude is contagious and genuine. In my private session (once per week), she is very detail-oriented and makes sure that I'm engaging my muscles correctly and getting deep (but not too deep) stretches. And her patience is incredible, even when I'm not patient with myself (which is most of the time). And my newest achievement - I can grab my feet with my legs straight! (As in, my hamstrings are actually beginning to loosen up.) This is entirely due to the weekly private session with Melissa and the weekly group class. As far as logistics? There is parking. I'll say that again - parking is provided. Not hunting around to find a parking spot is a major bonus. It isn't the only reason that I come here, but it definitely makes it easier and more enjoyable. read more

i've been a competitive athlete my entire life and pilates was something i never tried or considered. i'm often intimidated trying new things, but melissa and her wonderful team have been fantastic guides easing me into this new way of exercising and im hooked. i feel stronger everyday and haven't had this range of motion since my early 20s. for me pilates is the perfect balance for what i need at this stage in my life: flexibility focused, low/no impact resistance training. i find pilates challenging but not to the point where I'm damaging my body and never want to come back. i've been going to her studio consistently for several years now and i think that is a testament to the personalized attention and care her team programs for me and my wife, and the joy i feel every day i leave the studio: feeling energized and accomplished. i recently increased my frequency from once a week with Melissa, to 2x per week now working with Erika for an early morning session mid-week before work. Modern pilates studio with great instructors! There are a few reformers spread out across the room so the class sizes are usually pretty small. This allows for the instructor to really be more involved and make sure everyone has the correct form. The reformers seem up to date and clean. There are plenty of windows throughout the studio so it feels pretty light and airy inside. I've taken classes mainly with Ana and she does a great job at changing up the exercises and using different aspects of the reformer. Every class has been different so far. Additionally, she does a great job at motivating everyone and creating a patient and comfortable environment. I can really see the thought put in to every exercise and class. Definitely would recommend this place if you're looking for a pilates studio as a beginner as they have Level 1 classes that help you get familiar with the reformer and the different exercises. They have Level 2 classes for more experience people. The studio is located on the second floor with its own parking lot! Pretty rare in Pasadena but much needed. Takes the stress out of trying to find parking when you're late to a class. read more

My friend and I started at Gold Line Pilates 4 months ago doing private classes with Deana. It was our first time doing Pilates and we were intimidated, but Deana made us feel completely comfortable. We transitioned to group classes after two months and continue to take classes with Deana. She does a great job of learning about any issues you have (bad back, tight hips) and helping you work with and through any limitations to help you get stronger. And she is just fun to be around. I so appreciate the small class size and general vibe of the studio. The owner Melissa has also been so helpful and responsive whenever we've had questions or needed help. And I have to add, as my friend and I were affected by the recent fires, Melissa's response was wonderful; she allowed us to pause our classes until we could return. And Deana went out of her way to make sure we were doing ok. We were able to return this past week and it was wonderful to do so. It's helped us get back some normalcy. The classes are small, and you can tell the instructors put a lot of thought into planning them. I take the level 1 classes, and Melissa does a great job of balancing the need to help beginners along while also giving more experienced students a good class as well. I'm so grateful for the care and thought Melissa at Gold Line Studios has put into creating a safe sanitized, beautiful outdoor Pilates studio. As of March 14, 2020, my 80 year old mother had been going to Pilates with Melissa at Gold Line Pilates twice a week for at least 6 years when the world stopped. I think she was one of the original clients at Gold Line having followed Melissa from a gym when she first opened the studio. Throughout the quarantine year, Melissa showed great care and concern for my mother who is elderly and vulnerable to the rampaging virus. Melissa helped out by checking in regularly with zoom sessions easing the sense of isolation and despair, and assigning home exercises to keep her body nimble and her mind occupied. One year later with her client's safety in mind Melissa designed and opened an out door studio. My mom has gone twice now after being fully vaccinated. She was so relieved to get back to her routine. She feels completely safe and virus-cautious and would recommend it even to those not yet vaccinated. Plus, Melissa knows exactly how to slowly and methodically get my mom and other seniors back to last year's levels of strength, endurance, balance, and flexibility. It's the first time my mom has felt truly hopeful in a long time and I'm so incredibly grateful for that.  On a side note, I personally have had several sessions with Melissa while visiting Pasadena through the years and she is not just for elderly practitioners! I started going to Gold Line in late 2021, shortly after having some knee issues. The orthopedic doctor sent me to some physical therapy which was a combination of hot/cold treatments and Pilates. When I was done with the series that my insurance covered, I ask for a recommendation. That is how I came to meet Melissa, the owner of Gold Line.
