I started going to Pilates of Pasadena about four years ago with Lesley. My wife had already been…read moregoing for a while and encouraged me to try it, and it ended up becoming the best weekend workout I could've added to my routine. I'd been recovering from a herniated disc from years earlier, which left me with limited flexibility and reduced strength in my right hip. Lesley built sessions that targeted my core and the supporting muscle groups I'd been compensating for. After about a year of consistent weekend sessions, the improvement in strength, mobility, and stability was obvious. Lesley is intuitive, knowledgeable, and patient. She helped reduce pain, improve my posture, and rebuild core strength in a way that actually stuck. That foundation has made a real difference. Her background in physical therapy shows in everything she does. She understands muscles, joints, and personal limits, and she pays attention. She builds sessions around what each person needs, not a one‑size‑fits‑all routine. The studio itself elevates the experience. The variety of equipment--the Pilates reformer, Cadillac Reformer, barrel, and more--makes it easier to target specific muscle groups and perform different postures correctly. It keeps each session fresh, challenging, and genuinely next level. The progress really showed during travel. Long days of walking or climbing stairs used to be tough. Now I move better, hold better posture, and can enjoy places--like the uneven streets of Pompeii--without the same strain. I still have work to do, but Pilates of Pasadena has made that progress possible. I highly recommend Lesley and Pilates of Pasadena.

Lara has been my private instructor for some time and is very well versed in how the body moves, she's able to activate muscles other instructors weren't able to. Tom is a great group instructor, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I think he offers privates too.

Zoe is very experienced and professional. This is a classic Pilates studio. It's probably one of…read morethe best Pilates studios that you will be able to find in the area. Nevertheless, there are some drawbacks which probably have more to do with the management than Zoe or the trainers. This should be a great place to workout because Zoe is very experienced, it costs a fortune, there are very few clients at any given time. But it's not. If you don't workout with Zoe who is very hard to get into, the other teachers are hit and miss. You pay a fortune, but they make you carry a little bottle of disinfectant and paper towels around and clean each piece of equipment yourself after you use it regardless of whether or not there is a drop of sweat, while they watch you and inspect afterward. Seriously. At 1.25 per minute, you end up spending a lot of your own money to a) learn how to clean their furniture, b) clean their furniture and c) have your cleaning inspected and d) redo your cleaning if you are not clean enough. There is no parking. If you go after dark, you have to walk down a dark alley to a public parking lot a block away and be sure to have change or you will get a parking ticket. Very snobby. If you don't spend a fortune don't expect to be welcome or have a regular time. If an exercise doesn't work out for you due to a physical problem, most of the teachers will not or perhaps do not know enough to adjust your workout. If you like to be treated like a loser, clean gym furniture that does not need cleaning, drive around looking for parking, walk down dark alleys, pay top dollar for exercise programs that are not customized to you, find your hour being gradually whittled down to 45 minutes less 5 or 10 minutes of time spent cleaning furniture, and in short spend a lot of money to be miserable, then try Zoe Pilates studio. But I don't recommend it. PROS: Zoe is well trained and experienced Studio is not crowded CONS Teacher quality is hit and miss No parking Overpriced Obsessive over making clients clean their furniture Cut your time short if they are running late Snobbish: Treat non-big spenders poorly and Will not give you a standing appointment They will freely cancel your appointment at the last minute without apology or rescheduling. Have been canceled as close as 30 minutes before an appointment. Often will not turn on the air conditioner in the summer and you will have to workout in over 100 degree temperatures This kind of atmosphere where they will discourteously cancel appointments up to the last minute, I would be inclined to be forgiving of their faults if they were forgiving of mine, but they hold the customers to a much higher standard than they hold themselves. I felt enormous relief when I stopped going to Zoe Studio. Find another pilates studio. One that actually wants your business, and treats people courteously. Zoe is certainly very knowledgeable - find someone she trained who works at a less snobby and rigid studio.

She has so much knowledge and is very caring and supportive. The class was with 6 individuals with very different stages of fitness journey and needs. (Some have bad shoulders, injured body parts etc.) Tracey gave everybody with very customized, individual cues and progression/regression, and I am amazed how she helped everyone to push just right amount so that everyone can get good workout while not injuring themselves. The whole class flow was amazingly choreographed with proper techniques and hands-on adjustments. I am at the phase to undo my bad habits and correct my alignments deviations. Without me communicating verbally, Tracey understood my intentions and guided me through the whole class. She gave me so many aha moments and I finally found some of my muscle groups firing which I haven't felt for years. She has such a sweet, nurturing personality, and it was such a pleasant and fun experience to move in her class! Highly highly recommend to anybody - from a person who has never taken a Pilates class, or recovering from injuries, to a Pilates enthusiast looking for learning from an instructor at the mastery level of arts of Pilates.

Tere teaches the majority of the classes here. My issue is that even though her classes are small, I would have hoped that she would actually come up to a student and show the proper form if necessary. Yelling instruction to me over the music from in front of the class isn't helpful to me if I don't understand. I wasn't the only one in the class having issues of poor form or not understanding the proper way of doing the exercise. One of the students in the class told me I was doing the sandbag exercise wrong, I figured she might be right because later that day, my back was hurting a little, and not from the exercise, but I think from improper usage of the equipment. I think the instructor should have guided me properly. Gabriela is another instructor there. I didn't see her last year, but she is a GREAT addition. I tried her bungee pilates class and I LOVED it. It was a challenging class, but she definitely approached me when I was doing improper body mechanics. I wish she taught more often because I would definitely only take her classes. Tere has many interesting classes to choose from, but if a client isn't doing the exercises right, it could be a painful mistake.

It's nice that she tries to get to know each of her students because in other studios, you don't get that special attention. She also sets up her classes throughout the week so that it's easy to switch from one high intensity workout one day and then a low intensity/stretching workout another day to give your body a good all around workout. What caught my eye about this studio was that it offered Aerial Pilates. I've never tried Aerial Pilates before, so I thought it would be fun and something different to try. The first class I tried here was Aerial Pilates and she was so patient with me and other women in the class. Make sure you do not eat too much or drink too much water before this class because you go upside down and push down on your stomach a lot. After about 4 Aerial Pilates classes, I feel a lot more comfortable on the hammock, but I am definitely still a beginner. HIIT is the High Intensity Interval Training where it's pretty much like Bootcamp. She sets up several stations around the room working different parts of your body. You will be sore for a couple days after! If you're not a super active/athletic person, I would just recommend doing a HIIT class once a week so it gives your muscles time to heal. Barre is a sweat dripping class. You up and down on your tippy toes the whole session, so your legs will definitely be shaking at the end of class. Mat Pilates was actually my favorite class at this studio, but that's because I prefer low intensity workouts. I like that I am not dripping sweat at the end of the class, but I feel that my abs, back, and butt were really worked out and felt so firm afterwards. At the end of the unlimited month (I took about 3 classes a week), I was very happy with how my upper body toned up. I had a backless wedding dress, so I think my back muscles were my biggest concern. The workouts all helped strengthen my back muscles a lot more and I could see a lot more definition around the scapula area. I got so many compliments after the wedding!
