I can't say enough good things about Lorena and Alex. Truly one of the best experiences I've ever had with physical therapy. From the very first session, they were incredibly attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely invested in helping me feel better. They took the time to really understand what was going on with my body and built a plan that felt tailored, intentional, and effective. And the results speak for themselves. I came in feeling stiff, limited, and honestly a little broken... and somehow they worked magic. I feel stronger, more mobile, and more in tune with my body than I have in a long time. It genuinely feels like they took me from Pinocchio to a real boy. Beyond that, the energy they bring is amazing: encouraging, positive, and super professional while still making every session enjoyable. When I turned a certain age, ahem, everything started to hurt. Knees, my back...well you know the song. Seriously, this place helped get me primed for the Rose Bowl Half Marathon within a couple of weeks. From the admin staff to their PTs and PT students, folks are kind and efficient at what they do. Their POS kiosk check-in system is very effective for checking in without waiting in a line, and their cubies to house your items are just so tidy versus having to run back to your car to leave behind your bag or keys. Brandi and the rest of the admin staff are so quick and skilled at their jobs and make it so easy from booking appointments, to getting papers signed, to ensuring that they coordinate with your PCP on orders. We did self-pay since our insurance did not cover, but were able to access services due to our FSA/HRA card. They also provide superbills if you need to remit those to your insurance company at all. My PT, Ciara was great from initial assessment to getting me a proper recovery routine that would help me get from pain to 20k gain in a couple weeks time. Her PT assistant Gev is also really friendly and knowledgeable and I'd honestly be happy with either one of them guiding me through my workouts. I had never had PT, but the process was very seamless. The best part is that the place is just a sweet 5 min or so drive from home and that is just icing. Check out MOTI PT--it surely doesn't hurt. Ba dum dum ;D read more

I went to MOTI for physical therapy after knee surgery after having done the pre-op PT somewhere else. The difference was night and day!! My primary therapist (Dr. Ann DeGrey) was super knowledgeable and professional and evaluated my needs and tailored every session based on my changing progress. The amount of time she spent with me for each session was double or triple the amount of time the therapist at the other facility I attended spent. The assistants were also very professional and helpful through my exercises and made sure I was doing each exercise correctly to maximize my progress. They were all very professional and completely focused on MOTI's clients and always coordinated with my primary therapist on how the exercises went. (At the other facility I went to, the assistants gave me the exercise then left to look at their phones or chat with their friends). I have already recommended MOTI to all my family and friends in need of therapy. If you want top of the line care and attention, I would 100% recommend MOTI. read more

Dr. Kristen Donohue is DA BOMB! And everyone on staff at MOTI is AMAZING. Friendly, kind, compassionate, patient, personable. I've worked with so many PT aides and I've never ever had one that was smeh, all of them are great! It's weird that this is my 2nd time at MOTI for the same-ish "injury/pain" and I was EXCITED to come back. I don't have that experience for any other health appointments in my life even if I love the doc. I was excited to come back cause Kristen is such an amazing physical therapist and also I just vibe with her as a person. Dunno if she considers me a friend lol but I would TOTES hang out with her outside of Moti haha! She has extraordinary bedside manner and great attention to detail about my personal life, remembers names of my nieces, plans/events I had going on, etc, asks me how they were, how certain people are. The only reason I stopped my treatment the first time was because I was no longer having pain and Kirsten was going on maternity leave and I was SO attached to keeping her as my physical therapist and I didn't want to start with anyone else. But like I said the pain stopped and I was consistent with my at home exercises so we completed that program. But holidays happened, feel off the wagon with my exercises. My shoulder started to flare up again, NOT at the level it was before where I wasn't even able to put on a jacket without pain but much more nuanced. AND perfect timing, right when Kristen was coming back from maternity leave this happened. Kristen is great about being able to pin point the specificity of what you need whether it be physically with the literal exercises or emotionally with being able to tell you are being WAY too hard on yourself and you need to be able to connect to how much progress you've made, but she still pushes you the right amount that you need to so you'll progress. For my fellow Human Design enthusiast Angelenos, she's a Human Design Projector, being one myself, it sounds silly but I prioritize finding projectors who have expertise in certain areas because they are natural guides. The amount of times I could FEEL she was just tapped into my energy of exactly whats going one sometimes without me even speaking. Sometimes she even finishes my sentences! She knows how to tweak / adapt my program as I progress. I didn't seek out a projector PT but I was just lucky I got paired with one serendipitously LOL. She'll also drop truth bombs on you like I'll never forget the gist of something she said during I think our first or second session, it was something to the effect of, "Any sort of consistent pain is not normal." And it was so empowering and SO what I needed to hear at that moment. Because I don't want to live the rest of my life in pain and resigned like "Oh I guess this is just how it will be." But working with Kristen I've gotten a lot of power in getting that a lot of my injury/pain has been years of improper posture and other misuse of muscles in my body so I have compassion for myself its not just about this specific injury/pass and having relief, its also about restrengthening and reteaching myself how to move newly and create good habits so that the pain doesn't come back. Anywho Kristen rocks! Moti is awesome! Such a lovely safe space and environment to heal yourself which can be such a sensitive, vulnerable thing in the first place. Lorena and her assistants helped me during recovery from back surgery--the progress made is fantastic. I've been to several other PT facilities in the past and was never happy. I am so glad I found Moti Physiotherapy! Having had a previous physical therapy experience that was far less effective and much less friendly, I was so grateful to find Dr. Lorena Ambriz at Moti. She is an excellent physical therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable, her work is informed by intelligent evidence-based practice, lived experience, and intuitive know-how. She does an amazing job of assessment (very thorough and specific), body work, and tracking of progress. I found her instructions very clear and she was always kind and responsive whenever I had questions. Best of all, she played a major part in HEAVILY reducing the pain I was having from cervical radiculopathy (pinched nerve). Having "graduated" recently from my physical therapy program at Moti, I'm not exactly planning to return soon, BUT knowing that Dr. Ambriz is there will soften the blow should I ever need additional physical therapy. I would go to her for any future issues whether they were related to the one I went in for this time or something else. Also, from what I observed across around two and a half months at Moti, it's a great place to go for physical therapy in general. Very well trained staff, excellent equipment, clean, welcoming environment. And the staff who support the main doctors are really great to work with, as well. He really listened to my concerns and worked with me to create a rehab plan tailored to my needs. Joven is not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also compassionate and approachable. With some nasty, debilitating pinched nerve pain for several weeks, I was recommended, by my excellent physician, Physical Therapy through MOTI, I was hesitant, due to pain, but I gave it a try and I am extremely glad I did. My physiotherapist, Dr. Meagan Chow, is skilled and is pleasant to interact with, as are all of the assistants employed there. The place is clean and upbeat. I chose their Highland Park location. They ask for a credit card from you which they keep on file, which I don't like, but that's how they work. There doesn't seem to be a way around that. Other than that, the place is well run, though, there might be a bit of overworking on the assistants, as they handle a couple of patients/clients at the same time. If in need of PT you are in good hands with these folks. read more

Moti PT has helped stabilize and repair both of my knees and Dr. Mia is currently working on both of my shoulders. She is a truly outstanding PT Doc. I also had an excellent vertigo/vestibular balance evaluation and treatment with Dr. Meagan. Thankfully, she helped to resolve my vertigo and one visit and a week's worth of work. She also helped me with PT for my knees and is also an excellent PT Doc. My patient and I have found that proper sports PT only works when we are willing to do the work of the daily exercise exercises on the days and we are not at the PT facility. They have multiple plentiful, complementary parking in the large parking lot in front of their facility. Their facility is always clean and their physical therapy aids are excellent. I am always treated within a few minutes of my appointment time. read more

I had a bad knee injury playing volleyball back in August 2024 requiring urgent surgery (patellar tendon rupture). After 6 weeks post-op immobilized in a brace, my knee had almost no range of motion and all my muscles had severely atrophied. I was severely depressed and never thought I would ever walk normal again, let alone playing sports and running again. Worked with Dr. Michael Yip, DPT at MOTI since October 2024 and had the absolute best experience. You can tell during sessions he really cares and has your best interests in mind. He always challenged me with my PT, but always checked in to make sure everything was feeling okay. If something was too much or caused pain he would quickly adjust. Thanks to him my knee is back to full range of motion and almost 100% strength. After my injury, I never thought I'd get back to running and doing the things I love (volleyball, gym, etc.). Thanks Mike! Occasionally would have PT sessions with other DPTs at MOTI and all of them were exceptional and I always felt well cared for. Would rate MOTI Physiotherapy 11/10 and would recommend to anyone needing any physical therapy no matter how big or small the issue! read more

The Highland Park facility is great, Dr Lorena has helped reduce my neck pain and is recommend her for any pain.

After months of severe lower back pain, Dr. Lorena Ambriz was able to provide relief and a workout plan to keep it away. She was able to clearly explain some of the causes of my pain and why certain exercises would be especially effective in treating it. She worked with me to develop a home exercise routine that would supplement and eventually replace the work we were doing at MOTI, and was encouraging and and gentle about pushing the exercises once my pain began to subside. Ciara Duggan was my physical therapist at the highland park location. I received excellent care. I had knee and hip pain and Ciara gave me excellent exercises that strengthen my muscles and glutes.Exercises for my hips also. I had trouble walking up stairs and was wearing a brace for my knees which I no longer need. Part of the program is receive exercises on patient portal. I found this very helpful. The office staff was friendly and helpful. Ciara was very good at communicating with me and showing me how to do the exercises Also excellent massage for my legs. Ciara worked well with the assistance who also were very good and patient with me. I felt lucky to have such a knowledgeable and caring physicl therapist. read more

I was on the mend with my sciatica until I came here. After waiting for almost a month to be seen, my sciatica went from manageable to constant pain after just two sessions. I majorly regressed and regret coming here. While my PT was a nice person, I felt that she had minimal understanding of my condition and kept saying we'll figure out what works vs doesn't as we go. Experimenting like that does NOT work with painful nerve issues that take forever to resolve! read more

Dr. Mia Sugi Wassink, DPT, is a true professional. She provides personal attention, records complete notes of baseline condition, monitors progress, compares data across time. She has people skills & personalizes treatments relevant to each unique patient's needs. Her aides Theresa & Michael are also professional, providing personalized guidance on proper technique while doing assigned exercises following treatments from Dr. Mia. Personally I went for PT in preparation for knee joint replacement surgery 2 months in advance, then post-operation, and was able to return to normal activities within 3 weeks after surgery, due in large part to the treatment & exercise program prescribed by Dr. Mia. Yes, I highly recommend Moti Physiotherapy's robustly equipped facilities, and Dr. Mia Sugi Wassink in particular. From the "office experience" perspective, I was not happy with being charged for canceling an appointment due to testing positive for COVID the morning of a scheduled appointment, and the office mgr not willing to reverse the penalty charge upon my request for reconsideration. read more

Michael Yip is the best. I worked with him for several months after ACL/meniscus repair after a bad spill playing basketball. Mike understood my my lifestyle and long-term goals and pushed me in all the right ways to get back to normal. He was attentive and understanding and my progress was right on time. Due to an insurance change, I had to go to a different PT, but it wasn't the same and it made me really miss the level of dedication and attention I received from Mike and MOTI. Now I'm trying to get back to MOTI for regular check-ins with Mike. read more

The physical therapists are kind people, doing honest work. The business admin and cancellation policies are predatory. Several weeks before an appointment I called and canceled all my appointments as I no longer needed them. I was surprised to receive an email reminder for an appointment I thought we canceled. I replied to the email and asked them to cancel the appointment. Days later I get a mailer demon email that MOTI didn't receive my email reply. Why make it hard for your patients to communicate with email you send? It's 2024, emailing a local business should not be hard. I get the mailer notice on the day of the appointment. I call immediately and explain the situation. I send a screenshot of my reply to their email. Surely the fact that I called weeks earlier, emailed them days ago, and called again today is enough communication for them? Apparently not. They decided to charge me $75 for "not cancelling in time." I've paid for several dozen appointments at MOTI. Unfortunately, they haven't been able to help heal my hip injury so my doctor wants me to try a different PT company. MOTI's business communications leaves a lot to be desired. They recently raised their prices and cancellation fees. Almost as if they make their money by trapping people with cancellation fees rather than providing a service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend doing business with them. UPDATE: It's two weeks since I initially wrote this review. I just went to my new physical therapist for my hip. In a single hour session I garnered more relief and hope than I did in two months of sessions at MOTI. It turns out having a negative customer experience with them was a blessing in disguise as it allowed me to find someone who could actually help me. read more

What a fantastic place this is! I have never been to a physical therapy place before, but I have had reports from other people about other places. MOTI Physiotherapy seems like it is light years beyond the others that I've heard about. It is very clean, and they sanitize everything before and after you use it. Many of the employees wear masks, which I appreciated during an outbreak of Norovirus. Lorena is my therapist and she is excellent! i've also been to Daphne, and she is amazing! They are both so knowledgeable, patient, kind, fun, and I'm sure the boys would think they were both very cute! It's big and open and spacious with modern equipment. You don't feel like you're on top of each other because it's not overcrowded even though everyone is always busy when I'm there. Easy to get to, there's always parking, and next to a really cool supermarket if you need to drop in and get anything before you go home. I cannot think of anything else to say about MOTI Physiotherapy. Oh yeah... Except that they are making me better! read more

Had an awesome experience with MOTI physiotherapy during my second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Dr. Lei Lee was my DPT, and she specializes in working with pregnant women. I was having trouble with my knees. She was able to address my knee pain and help me strengthen surrounding structures in preparation for my ever-changing body and giving birth. Dr. Lei was always on time, friendly, and thorough. I always appreciated that she genuinely cared about how I am feeling, how my baby was doing, and was always open to modifying our program to customize it to how I was feeling that day. Due to my work schedule, and increasing fatigue, I wasn't able to come in as often as she recommended. I was given a very thorough at-home program complete with demo videos that were very easy to follow. I also really enjoyed spending time with all the PT aids, who were all knowledgable and professional in how they treated me. I felt strong and confident during my labor and delivery process, and I have Dr. Lei Lee and MOTI to thank for that. I am happy to refer any Mama-to-be! read more

I loved the therapist and all the staff that worked there when I visited, so that is why I gave it two stars. I would give it 5 stars for the staff, but what is really getting in the way of my doing that is the billing structure. Their building process is very onerous. They kept calling me over and over again about a bill that was supposed to be paid by my insurance and stressing me out. I would call and then I couldn't get them on the phone and the. They would call and say the same nonsense about me needing to pay for what was covered. They just could get things straight even though they had my new insurance they kept trying to bill the old one. I finally got it worked out after multiple times trying to get them on the phone. It took war too much time for nothing. They also bill you quiet a lot of you have to miss an appointment. In a city where so many people work freelance and have to take work as it comes this is not an industry friendly policy. read more

FYI their cancelation fee is such that if you're ill and cancel they still charge you a cancelation fee of $75. I encountered that myself after canceling due to a migraine, which is a serious medical condition. Since they have no exceptions I understand charge this fee if someone has a communicable disease such as a cold or Covid-19 or the flu, which may incentivize people to come into the center while they are ill instead of canceling their appointment. This puts patients and physiotherapists at risk. FWIW I am paying the fee and ending my rehabilitation with them. This is both a very unsanitary and inhumane policy. read more

If you require physical therapy Moti Highland Park is the place to go. Their staffing is highly professional, skilled and also very friendly. A big shout out to Dr. Lei Lee who first saw me 7 months ago when I was unable to walk due to recovering from a fractured patella. I am excited to finally be recovered enough to be able to return to my fitness class 4 days a week. Dr. Lei is highly skilled, personable and is dedicated to making sure her patients get the best care. The aids were also an extremely important part of my recovery. Although they are all very good, I spent most of my 7 months working with Charles and Paulina. They made sure I performed my exercises correctly and encouraged me to "keep up the good work" A big thank you to Dr. Lei and to the entire staff at Moti, Highland Park! read more

This review is specifically for Lorena Ambriz she is a fantastic therapist. I spent many hours in gyms and no longer enjoy spending time in them. However, i had a nasty MTB crash and needed help. i was skeptical going in but was miserable. I got Lorena by luck of the draw and knew within 20 minutes with her that she would help me, so i was in. She evaluated strength and mobility and knew right off that strength was the problem. i had been to an ortho who didn't ID the problem muscles, etc. but Lorena quickly figured out my injured muscles and put me on an appropriately and initially easy (I'll be 64 in December) routine that was tailored to my injury. The ortho didn't recommend enough sessions but she coordinated permission for more and i didn't have to go back to the ortho. She ramped up the exercises in weight, reps and different exercises and got me quickly on my way to recovery. Ask for Lorena! read more

They do tell you up front they have stringent appointment confirmation policies. I just didn't have time to do them so they cancelled my appointment I am not mad because they told me the process up front. I run two companies and just don't have time to go through multiple appointment confirmation policies. If I make the appointment I will be there. If I don't show charge me. They are up front about their process so I'm not going to give them a terrible review. I just don't agree with the need for this crazy multiple confirmation appt policy. If you have the time to do it I am sure it's a good place. I found another physical therapy place that doesn't require multiple confirmations before the appt. I had the pleasure to work with Dr. Nico Docil at MOTI Physiotherapy, and this was by far the best physical therapy I have ever had. Nico and the aides at MOTI are extremely knowledgeable about biomechanics and human musculature and ligamenture, and employ a wide variety of exercise to aid in recovery. Moreover, this facility is extremely well equipped, allowing for a huge range of different exercises to be performed. My favorite thing about working here was how often they emphasized a pain-free road to recovery. By gradually easing my back into the exercises that I wanted to do, slowly increasing my range of motion and load, I was able to make a recovery on an injury I had been dealing with for over a year before coming to MOTI. Of course, I hope I never need physical therapy again, but if I do, MOTI will be the first facility that I go to, and Nico's will be the first name that I request. I highly recommend this center for all your physical therapy needs! read more

What can I say! My health and well being is forever changed. BIG THANK YOU to Dr. Kirk for empowering me with the skills to achieve better health! I worked with Dr. Kirk for my patellar tendonitis. It was often so painful that I couldn't walk without limping or even straighten my leg. I had been living with this for over a year. I thought my active days of running were over. I saw Dr Kirk for a few months. He told me not to be afraid and to not stop being active. He also told me that tendons like to be "loaded" and our sessions were geared towards doing this. Fast forward to this past weekend: I completed a sprint triathlon and felt great doing so! My tendonitis isn't an issue anymore and I feel like I regained my fitness and mobility. This place is not mother/parent friendly at all! I had to cancel my appointments twice due to emergency - once because my newborn was sick and another because my nanny cancelled. They only allow a one time waiver regardless of the circumstance and wanted to charge me a cancellation fee. Dr Ann is ice cold and not understanding at all. All she did when I told her my situation was reiterate the policy by copying and pasting it. They are unnecessarily strict with their policy and will not take circumstances into consideration. I would expect an operation like this to be a little more human. I will miss Dr Nancy and Dr Lei! Out of principle I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Also, the physical therapists don't do all the exercises with you. They have these trainers that do many of the exercises with you, who are very sweet but very young and inexperienced, so I wasn't getting much out of that. Other physical therapy facilities I've been to have the pt do all the exercises with you, which I prefer since you get the proper guidance. read more
