Place is very spacious with two floors. Right when you walk in you can start off with some cocktails w/friends before having a family style dinner. I had ordered general taos chicken with side of rice. I just felt like it didn't hit the spot. The four star review is def for the service. Very friendly and on point. Very much appreciated.

How do I even begin? This place is absolutely beautiful and welcoming from the moment you walk in. You're immediately embraced by the atmosphere, and the environment naturally leads you to your table. The food is outstanding--full of flavor and beautifully prepared--and the staff is attentive and genuinely caring. I love the concept of enjoying traditional Chinese dishes paired with such warm, heartfelt hospitality. Some of my favorite dishes were the pepper steak, chicken and broccoli, fried rice, and the dumplings. Honestly, everything on the menu is delicious--you truly can't go wrong with anything you order. I give this place a full five stars . Whether you're going with family, on a date, for a corporate dinner, or even dining solo, you'll have a great experience.- Tony!

It was almost 3 pm when I realized how famished I was attending Scentxplore. While in the queue on 38th Street waiting to enter the event, I had passed Evergreen on 38 and picked up a takeout menu. So here I came to have lunch. As none of the lunch specials appealed to me I decided to have dimsum. Steamed shrimp dumplings are always welcomed in my book and Chicken and Pork Sticky Rice would fill me up. Evergreen on 38 is a largish restaurant with an entrance that has a bar and potted plants. The large dining room has many tables and a brightly lit Christmas tree greeted guests. The two dimsum came and I started eating. There were two bundles of the sticky rice which was nice. As it's quite filling I took one home. Both cash and cards are accepted. I paid a total of $15 for lunch which included a tip. Service was quiet and fine.

Amongst the many Chinese restaurants in Manhattan, Evergreen is a good choice for Dim Sum or Classic Chinese, as they featured many regional selections. Everything we ordered came out in a timely fashion, and properly prepared. The inside dining area is quite large, especially for NYC. The staff was friendly, and service was prompt. However, they do cater to tour groups, and when they arrive, it can get very busy in an instant. But don't let that deter you, as their quality and pricing stands tall amongst the heavy competition.

Tree-ears appetizer was on a cold appetizer list. Supposed to have health benefits.

Evergreen on 38 is one of my family's favorite restaurants. The sauce is not overpowering. This time three of us ordered Fish filet with bokchoy, Dry string beans, beef noodle soup, chicken fried rice, turnip cakes. They added many dim-sum. Try more authentic Chinese dishes and desserts. The ambiance and service were top notch. Yum!

Delish food, great service, great price point on entrees and appetizers. Anything under $150 for a party of 5 in NYC is a great deal. Dim Sum, Soup Dumplings, spring rolls, entrees were all great. 5/5 recommend

10/30/23: Afterwork dinner and drinks. Wasn't crowded seated immediately. Waitstaff wasn't the warmest but he got the job done. Pretty decent cosmopolitan. As we weren't overly hungry we shared a few plates. Basically overpriced Chinese food. For the price wouldn't mind too much but for the meals not served with rice...hmmm. Appetizers: scallion pancakes a bit greasy and very thin. Can we talk about the soup dumplings. Actually first time trying and they were yummy. Shrimp and broccoli was good nice portions. Also opted for the shrimp fried rice. All in all decent dine. Reservations made via Seated, love the seated dollars earned. Download seated app use code michelle1454.

Grand Marnier Jumbo Shrimp

I came here for takeout last week and I had a really pleasant experience. I came mid-afternoon so it was too late to take advantage of their lunch specials menu, but the regular prices weren't too bad. I ordered the Grand Marnier shrimp as well as the Kung Pao chicken. Grand marnier shrimp is one of those entrees that not all Chinese restaurants offer and it happens to be one of my favorite meals. I specifically chose this restaurant with the intent of ordering this. The kung pao chicken was more an after thought, but I'm glad I tried both. The order took about 15-20 minutes to prepare and the person who took my order was really nice. He confirmed whether I wanted white or brown rice with my order and was kind enough to throw in a soda on the house. The entrees were packed neatly and came in sturdy plastic containers. I tried the grand marnier shrimp first and saved the kung Pao chicken for the next day. The grand marnier shrimp came with about 7-8 jump shrimp and broccoli on the side. The shrimp were not overly battered but nicely crispy. The sauce had a nice flavor but was there was a little bit too much of it. I wish they would have gone a little lighter on the sauce, but I still really enjoyed it and I thought the portion size was generous. The Kung Pao chicken dish was pretty vegetable heavy but there was also a decent amount of chicken. The chicken was savory and not overly spicy since it was easy to pick out the peppers. The meal was a little greasy but not too much. I probably liked the shrimp just a bit more but I would definitely come back to try more!

Service is great here. We tried and shared a variety of things and I'm glad that we did. We had a vegetable spring roll, vegetable dumplings and fried chicken dumplings. For our main course we ordered Chicken Fried Rice, General Tso's Chicken and Beef w/ Broccoli. I loved the Beef w/ Broccoli. It was my favorite of everything that I tried. The broccoli was crisp and the beef was very tender. Great seasoning too. The chicken fried rice was also very good.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday on an early Saturday night. Have never eaten here and am surprised at how massive the place is. The birthday friend took the lead on ordering, plenty of choices for everyone including my vegan friends. Food was delicious and service was good. Will definitely come back here again - my fave was the crispy dry pot chicken.

On a trip to NYC w our high schoolers on a class trip. Accommodated 30+ very well. Very spacious in back of restaurant. Nice decor yet comfortable, casual. Food was wonderful. They were very accommodating with my beef and pork allergy! Excellent authentic Chinese at a decent price.

Dish highlights include the shrimp and chive dumplings, beef chow fun, and my personal favorite, the stuffed eggplant. Other items were a little bland, like the turnip cakes and har gow, and the pan fried shrimp noodles were awkwardly plated and made them difficult to eat. I also wish they had rice noodle rolls, which I didnt see on the menu. Really what pushed it to 5 stars to me was the service. We came as a huge group of 20, with a baby and stroller in tow, and they handled everything without so much as a grimace, just an outpouring of helpfulness. They sat half our group at a round table and the other half at a rectangular long table and also helped us navigate dietary restrictions, asking specifically who in the group had those restrictions. The menu is labeled too, so you know which items are vegetarian or gluten free. At one point our helpful server noticed we hadn't really touched that awkwardly plated noodle dish and offered to replace it with another. We didn't take him up on that as I'd find that wasteful but I thought that was so attentive and earned them a generous tip. The space is nice looking, and the food came out very quickly. We also didn't break the bank, even with plenty of drink orders. Dao's is an easy recommendation, especially when you factor in how seamlessly they handled our chaos.

I was browsing for places with scallion pancakes and I came across this restaurant. I saw they had a scallion pancake beef rook which I'd never seen before. It was fried and crispy on the inside with tender beef on the inside, that was slightly savory slightly sweet. I had the roll on its own, which made for a light meal, but it can also be enjoyed as a large snack. It was a little greasy, which can be expected, but not sure if I'd get it again. I did think it was innovative though. The most impressive thing about the restaurant was actually the space. I came to pick up my food and was surprised to see this beautiful place. The outside is unassuming and nothing special but inside has the aesthetic of an old Shanghai restaurant. It's ornate and slightly quirky. It's also really big, bigger than I expected. Even the bathrooms had traditional Chinese flare with the sliding doors. Definitely worth checking out,

It's also nicely decorated, which makes you feel like you're in China. It's definitely for a younger crowd with how loud this place gets. We had a huge party, so we ordered an array of dishes to share family style. Some of the most memorable dishes were the Mapo Tofu ($13.99), Hutaoli Roast Chicken ($43 for whole), Spicy Pot Potato ($19), Roasted Green Beans ($22), etc. All of the food is good, but definitely pricey. While the food also came out quickly, our drinks came out towards the end of our meal. It's a good spot for big parties as it never got too busy even on a Saturday night. They also have private rooms. The live music was fun, but also made it hard to have conversation.
