    Pan-Fried Shrimp & Chives Dumpling

The food was amazing with a decent quantity! The chili garlic sauce with everything was so amazing and Here is everything we got: Pan fried chive and shrimp dumplings 8/10: definitely for someone who loves shrimp since it is a strong flavor Chicken with spicy garlic sauce 8.5/10: good quantity and it comes with rice. We lit smelled the garlic as soon as it came on the table, it was rly fun.

Neighborhood Cantonese Dim Sum Spot - Mixed Bag Saw this place pop up in the neighborhood and it screamed "real Cantonese dim sum," so I ordered in today. The hits: - Pork short rib was pretty solid flavor-wise, though the pieces arrived stuck together in one big clump. - Beef tripe was straight-up yummy--tender and well-seasoned. - Shredded pork with veggies in garlic sauce was the standout main; decent portion, good balance, no complaints. The misses (mostly the fried stuff): - Durian puff sounded promising but came out stiff and overly crunchy--like it had been frozen, thawed, and re-fried. Inside had a faint durian whiff but tasted and felt like jelly. Not a fan. - Sesame balls were "okay" crispy on the outside, but again had that reheated-from-frozen vibe. Bottom line: Skip the fried dim sum items; stick to the cooked dishes. I'll probably order the mains again, but the dim sum left me wanting the real deal.

I was so excited to try this place as there aren't many great dim sum options on the UES. We visited within the first few weeks of their opening and tried their all-you-can-eat weekend lunch buffet. Out of the ones we ordered, I liked black truffle with mushroom dumpling, the steamed pork ribs and the chicken feet. However, the crispy duck rolls and the durian crisps were just ok. The durian crisp was too sweet and tasted more like durian-flavored syrup rather than having actual durian inside. The ambiance was nice. The service was also quick and attentive. I think obviously for the best dim sum options, it's hard to surpass the ones in Chinatown. However, this is still an overall decent choice if you are in the neighborhood.

Always trying a Chinese spot when I travel and this did not disappoint. I came for dinner so will have to come back and try their AYCE dim sum before I leave town. But tonight was chilly so I wanted something super cozy and warm. I was a bit disappointed by the soup options and I didn't see any stew/pot options. But I ended up getting the sizzling tofu with mixed mushrooms which was DELICIOUS. So many variations of mushrooms and the tofu was thin squares instead of the larger wedges or cubes. Gravy was savory.

Super spot. Ayce be careful!!!! Dont over order (which I did). So worth it. The place was quaint with a modern look. The food all came out hot and fresh. Service was attentive. Flavors were on point for the steam dumplings and fried items. No comment on sweet items. (Did not order). The only item I disliked was the mushroom truffle dumplings. Wrap was too thick. The filling was just mush with truffle oil. My mistake was ordering the beef chow fun entree which is included in the ayce. It was a full size serving (not just for one). The flavor was great with plenty of beef in the serving. Epic food. Great flavors. I didn't hesitate to pay for the two uneaten items I over ordered. Too bad it's located on first ave. They should definitely open more locations.

Just starting off by saying that I have eaten at this place before numerous times, and would give it a 10/10 each time and really did not want to write this. I ordered takeout and order a large meal. After devouring the General Tso's chicken and steamed pork buns with my girlfriend, she uncovers this in her order of Shu Mai dumplings. A roach. We both almost vomited after opening this container. After speaking with the hostess and showing her this egregious discovery in my container, she apologized, spoke to her manager on the phone, looked completely blindsided by this, and I was offered a refund for my entire meal. She was incredibly nice and apologetic about the situation, and I have no issues with how she handled the situation. I initially did not want to embarrass this restaurant by writing a review like this because of how much I enjoyed this food numerous times and how nice the staff were, as this place had just recently opened. But think about it, look at how conveniently placed that roach is in the photo. Do they just leave all their dumplings lying around somewhere unsanitary only to heat it up and serve it to customers? This appeared to be a roach who just crawled onto the dumplings and died, and then the kitchen staff just heated them up and served it to me. I was thinking that evening, were there roaches crawling around my General Tso's chicken or ingredients in all the rest of the meals that were and are to be served to many customers who came to eat here? Was I or my girlfriend going to be sent to the hospital over eating half of a big meal from a kitchen with roaches crawling around? I cannot in good conscience move on and not warn people about this. Let this be a warning to people who are looking for Dim Sum restaurants in the UES, roaches crawling around where your food is being prepped and served can send you to the hospital or even worse. Tremendously disgusting! This shows extreme negligence by the restaurant and a tremendous disregard for even the most basic forms of hygiene! I hope this serves as a warning to those who come eat here, along with a lesson to the owners who run this restaurant on their employee hygiene. All the great experiences I had eating their delicious food and being served by friendly staff are now stained by this discovery, with me looking back, wondering if there were roaches crawling around the kitchen when my food was being prepared during those previous times that I had eaten at Cha Dim Sum. I am incredibly disappointed.

When we…read morediscovered the Koreatown Nan Xiang was right around the corner from our hotel this visit, we made it a priority to visit, and we brought friends who were new to soup dumplings (XLB). There was a wait list to get seated when we arrived but the process was simple and moved quickly, and service was prompt and food came out quickly. We ordered both the standard pork XLB and my faves, the pork and crab ones, as well as pan fried pork dumplings which I was surprised to discover were also full of soup, chicken corn dumplings, and two noodle dishes: rice cake with pork & mustard greens, and pan fried noodles with beef. Servers were conscientious about allergies and very specific about letting us know which items were which, but other than that were largely appropriately hands off. They did ask us, mid-meal, if it would be ok if a service dog were at the next table to ours, which I thought was courteous. (The service dog was adorable and well behaved.) All the food was fab, which we expected. It's nice to come in a group and be able to order more items for a greater variety. The rookies executed well (and thanked us for the instructions on how to eat XLB to avoid getting soup everywhere) and were pleasantly surprised by my longtime favorite, the rice cake and mustard greens. I'll need to remember that the pan fried pork dumplings also have soup, because I really liked the texture of them. Such good food, and as always, better shared with friends.

Just a few things to pick on. 1) cucumber dish was good, but did feel it lacked a bit flavor and spice. Huge portion 2) wine cold chicken, felt like it was nothing special. Definitely had better elsewhere and prob wouldn't order again. Had food remorse and wish I ordered another cold dish 3) pork xiao long bao, soooo flavorful and juicy. Like I felt like I was having soup. I think the skin was a little too thick for my liking. Overall would definitely come back if I was in the area but would seek to come if it wasn't convenient.

I really liked the scallion pancake and eggplant. The pancake wasn't crispy/dry, but rather the exterior was crisp and the inside was still a little soft/fluffy. It's the first time I had a scallion pancake that wasn't just straight dough inside/outside, or so thin that it got crisped out. I really liked this texture profile though. The eggplant was 10/10; the eggplant was cooked well, so tender but not soggy. The sauce was really good too such that it was sufficient spice but not flaming. Would recommended. I enjoyed the cucumber salad and tofu as well, but have had better. Seasoning and prep were good though -- although the tofu was cooked so tender (or maybe was silken tofu to begin with) that the whole table was struggling with carrying it from plate to mouth -- heh. Food came out very quickly; staff were friendly, efficient, and helpful. Decent amount of seating with a cozy vibe. It was a good meal, not my favorite Szechuan spot, but definitely hit the spot.

It's quite spacious back there. They will call your number to pick up the food. They have a screen in the back with the order number being called. I like their wonton and beef stew noodle soups. It comes with fresh green vegetables. Very tasty. They have rice rolls. I got the shrimp rice roll. That was very good. It came with fresh green vegetables also, a plus. They also have congee. It has small bits of meat in it, but it's still very good congee base and satisfies cravings. You have to ask for white pepper at the front register. I didn't see it at the condiment station. As a snack or part of the combo, they have egg tarts. That was just ok. I'm too full to also eat that with the meal anyways. For drinks, the HK milk tea, especially the hot one, is very good. I got it without sugar. Their soy milk and iced lemon tea is also very good. Congee or rice roll with a drink is great for breakfast or late meal since they open early 8am and close late midnight in the W40th theater area. Very solid place to grab some food.
