My wife and I traditionally split meals at restaurants, because they generally give you so much food, you leave uncomfortably stuffed. We prefer leaving comfortably satisfied. So we split the Arugula Salad. They bring complementary bread with a garlic butter or basalmic and olive oil. We preferred the basalmic. The garlic butter wasn't very garlicky. But the salad was excellent. They split it for us for a small upcharge. The Halibut was excellent. We had to split it ourselves, but that was not a problem for us. It was served over couscous and was excellent. A bit small to split, so we added a cheesecake dessert with ganache. Very good. We paired it all with a Cabernet from the Oakville area of Napa (where we had just visited) and it was excellent as well. Our server was attentive. The pacing of our meal was very well done. Our first round of bread however, was average at best and was very dense and doughy. The next rounds of bread were significantly better though, so maybe there's an inconsistency with the way they bake their bread in-house. I ordered the seafood penne pasta and my boyfriend ordered the king salmon with risotto. Both were "specials" and were not on the menu. However after digging into reviews here, it seems they are not so much specials since both dishes have been served here for the past 7ish years. Seafood penne pasta: I would rate a 3/5, maybe a 2.5/5. The pasta itself was not al dente which was disappointing. The "star" of this dish was supposed to be the scallop, which was severely undercooked! It was super soft and mushy. The shrimp was alright...some were overcooked. The salmon was also dry. I think the only thing I really enjoyed was the mussels, clams, and the sauce. The sauce had some curry with a small kick to it. This dish was just okay. Escargot: We ordered as our appetizer, I'd give it a 3.5/5! The escargot was a little soft but paired wonderfully with the bread. Creme brûlée: 3/5. Our waitress kindly put a birthday candle on it for my birthday. :) I enjoyed it, and it was very custardy! The downside was that the sugar on top was too burnt. I can't speak much for my boyfriend's dish, I did have a bite of his salmon and it was alright, maybe a bit too salty. The service however was wonderful and our waitress was super kind and helpful. He's always said good things, but I've never eaten here. I finally decided to come in today. It's a nice place. It's clean, and everybody is friendly. Just a nice simple neighborhood restaurant vibe. I decided to go with the taco omelette. Taco meat, cheddar, onions, olives, and diced tomato. It also came with a salsa, guac,, and sour cream on the side. Instead of potatoes, I got a nice cup of fruit. The omelette was big, and it was delicious. Lots of fillings, the beef was well seasoned, and the other taco fillings just went well with each other. The sour cream was good, the salsa was not spicy, it had a little bit of a smoky flavor, and the guac was excellent. It had a good flavor, it was more than just mashed up avocado. The food: One of the people in my party ordered linguini with clams and the clams were so overcooked, they were tough to chew. Another person in my group had very overcooked steak. Besides that, all the other food was very good and surpassed expectations! I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo and crème brûlée and those dishes were both a delight! As a mom who loves a good bacon cheeseburger, this place has always been one of my favorites. In fact, when I was pregnant with my now 12-year-old son, I think I was there at least twice a week satisfying my burger cravings. The food is consistently delicious, but what really keeps me coming back is the people. Everyone is always so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely kind. It's the kind of place where you're greeted with a smile and made to feel right at home. Thank you for years of great food, great service, and great memories.
