In Nov, our downstairs toilet tank cracked. Within a week, my husband swatted a fly and made a hole in the wall (by the toilet) the size of a huge pancake! Then, the old fluorescent lights in the kitchen stopped working. I reset the circuit breaker hopeful that the kitchen lights would turn back on, but it didn't. So for the holidays, we had to run upstairs to use the bathroom and we cooked dinners with a desk lamp in the kitchen. After searching for a week, I realized I wanted a single person who had experience with plumbing, simple renovation, and electrical issues. I didn't want to hire two different specialists to 1) redo the half bath: replace a toilet, lay down new Pergo laminate, and cover the medicine cabinet hole and husband's hole in the wall, and 2) figure out and fix the electrical issue in my kitchen. I found EvaMax on Yelp with no reviews yet, but the posts of the home repair and home renovation he did looked great, so I decided to take a chance. I AM SO GLAD I DID! EvaMax worked a total of 4 days: Day 1 Removed toilet. Repaired and textured 2 holes (behind the toilet and where the medicine cabinet was.) Then discovered a hazard! Moisture damage in the wall due to the dryer in the laundry room adjacent to the bathroom. The moisture, lint debris, and heat from the dryer was causing the shared wall to dry out making it brittle in some parts. He stopped because he needed my approval and input before proceeding. Day 2 Removed lots of lint debris from the wall which could have caught on fire one day!!! Oh my!!! Then installed flooring and toilet same day. Day 3 Installed new baseboards in bathroom, removed old kitchen lighting, installed recessed lighting, and crawled under the house to make sure the vent air traveled out of the house. Needed my approval and input before proceeding. Day 4 Turns out someone pushed the washing machine too far back and popped off the vent cover connected to the lint tube from the dryer. The location of this vent is in the wall between the laundry and bathroom! Mystery solved. The moisture in the wall of the bathroom was from the damaged vent in the wall from the dryer. Ev made a new cover for the damaged vent, assured us that the vent will allow the hot air from the dryer to travel through the repaired vent to the exterior of the house. As a reminder he stated to clean out the lint each time we use the dryer. EvaMax is very skilled and knowledgeable about home repair and remodeling. He completed our job(s) fast. He is accessible by text between working hours, and is polite and straight to the point. Most of all, his pricing to me is very reasonable. I can't thank EvaMax enough. We have new recessed lighting in the kitchen and new half bath that doesn't smell like laundry anymore! Most of all we took care of the laundry hazard that I didn't even know existed!!Apparently, a damaged laundry vent is the leading cause of 15,000 home fires each year. Scary!
