It's a cafe - that's only open till 5:30pm, and yet they don't serve 1/2 of their menu for 1/2 the day? We had to eat sanwiches without the bread and without the greens as they were very wilted. Really disappointed today. I usually go to the other location on Colorado near Mentor where I've had their amazing almond croissant many times. Today, though, I went to this location across from the Paseo. Sadly their almond croissant didn't taste at all like an almond croissant. It was more like a cinnamon bun. The filling was a mix of brown sugar, cinnamon and what seemed to be chopped walnuts. I couldn't taste any almond at all. And why put walnuts in an almond croissant?? Also the bottom of the croissant tasted like orange zest, reminding me of marmalade. Yuck. A weird addition to a cinnamon bun shaped like a croissant. The only evidence of almond were the sliced ones encrusted on the top. But where was the almond paste inside? If you like cinnamon buns, marmalade and walnuts, you'd like this. There is only 2 reasons why this place falls short of me actually giving them 5 stars.... 1) They are located in a busy section of Pasadena, so parking is very limited. If you don't find parking right in front (about 5 spots, but metered), there are several parking structures that are walking distance. 2) Their menu is written on a chalk board and pretty self explanitory but anything that is behind the glass (pastries, bread, etc...), is not labeled at all. I'm sure their long lines would move a lot quicker if they had proper labels so that way people aren't always stopping to ask what everything is. Outside of those two issues; their sandwiches (any of them) is what I would highly recommend. They have an excellent drink selection as well, but I can't hold back from ordering their Hot Apple Cider which is by far one of the best I've ever tasted. Great prices! Love the macaroons!! Any chance I get I buy the macaroons and a drink with their afternoon special. One of the best macaroons places in SOCAL (trust me I've looked). The boba drinks definitely need a bit of work and I haven't tried the sandwiches, but the macaroons are great. The staff could be more professional, of the many times I've visited I can now say they act like high schoolers and have an attitude when taking my order. Every time. I have been coming to Europane since 2015 and it has always been outstanding. I was so happy to finally go there today after they were closed for a long time due to Covid. Quick, easy, and fresh Atmosphere: This spot is easily missed off of S Lake St, if you only plan on traveling it, but east to point out of on Colorado because of the fee tables and chairs, and a small crowd of people standing around to chat with one another at the door. When you first walk in, you will need to slide to the left to get in line, which might be difficult if there is someone standing at the doorway because it's a bit tight. There is also large pastry cases that encase beverages, as well as freshly baked, enormous pastries. Food: The croissants were very buttery, flaky, and fresh. It had a nice slight crunch and a chew to it. We also had a pastry that was also flaked, filled with custard and freshly sliced strawberries. The cream was not too sweet, just enough to still be able to taste the strawberries. My companions had a chocolate chip muffin, and also a flaked, circular pasty with sliced apples. We had tried the savoury muffin, and it was a really nice surprise to see a full sized boiled egg in the middle. The muffin itself had cheese, bacon bits, and cilantro, such a good combination. We had also ordered au laits, they came out in a timely matter. Very satisfied with this breakfast. There were several large quiches sitting on top of the pastry case that looked amazing, but we did not order any. Service: The service was quick, simple, and straightforward. Long story short: Nice space with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating with friendly service and good food that we come to expect from Europane. Long story long: I've been to the other Europane a couple times before and I had heard they opened up another location right here across from Paseo. I came here one day after church with a handful of friends and this was a good choice as it was rather warm that day. Parking can be a little tricky and unless you're lucky to find a spot on the street, I guess your next best option would be to just park at Paseo. No, I don't think they validate for them. The space is much bigger than the other Europane, including the outdoor patio. The overall color scheme seems to go for the soft white, almost sterile, hospital like feel. Not that it did make me feel like I was in a hospital, but that's just the initial impression. I mean, I liked it. Just had a contemporary feel. There is a communal table in the middle of the space, which I feel like is becoming a little of a trend. But it worked nicely. The entire outdoor patio is covered from the beating sun, but it was still a little too warm to sit outside. I went up to order and the handful of people behind the counter worked the line fairly fast. I ended up getting the roast beef sandwich on sourdough and an iced tea. I asked my friend if she wanted to maybe sit outside because there wasn't really any seating inside, to which she quickly said no, considering it was kinda hot outside. We eventually were able to grab a table for the 3 of us, which eventually became 5 of us, then someone else came and there was 6 of us. One by one, all of my friend's food came, but mine had still not arrived, which was odd considering I was the first one out of us to arrive and order. I eventually asked about it and the guy said he'd check. He came back a couple minutes later and told me that someone else took my sandwich. WHAT?!?! How does one let that happen? They even took my name. I wasn't really mad as I was a little surprised that something like that could happen. They actually lost 1 star because of that. He asked what kind of bread I wanted and said it'd be out right away. When my sandwich finally arrived, I was near ravenous. Ok, maybe not quite, but I was hungry. A simple but elegant looking sandwich, the amount of meat justified the slightly heightened price tag. I took a bite and it was actually pretty good. It was somewhat filling yet it was light. I didn't know that the egg salad sandwich is apparently their signature sandwich, which is what a couple of my friends got and is served open faced. I'll be sure to try that next time. So, while I'm sure I'll have a better experience next time worthy of an upgrade in rating, because of the mix up with my sandwich, I have to give it 3 stars for now. But I'll be back. read more

It really "panes" me to prefer the other Euro Pane down the street over this one. First, this one doesn't have brioche, the other one does. Second, the other one gives me a free chocolate chip walnut cookie with my egg salad sandwich, while this one charges me extra. The lighting is great to take photos or to do some work (but there's no free wi-fi so I don't know how you'll do any work), but the AC should be cranked up. The are so many windows that the place gets pretty warm. The Arnold Palmer seems to be popular while I people watched (I didn't know what else to do, there was no wi-fi!). Well the other location has always had this friendly homely vibe and service was top notch 5 star kind of deal, NOT this new place the food is the same but the staff... They are so unbelievably rude and flat out horrible when it comes to customer service . everything I ordered was out of stock and it was really odd because every time they would laugh and high five each other almost like they were glad to be out of goat cheese currant bread and almond milk ? I was not sure if it was just me or were these bright eyed exotic looking men tripping out and being totally RUDE ! Nope was not just me they were total A holes and then i asked for water they would just point and huff and puff and not even talk to me ( did their mums never teach them that pointing is bad manners) I then asked do they bring the coffee to my table as they all just sat around while i was waiting they yelled at me and told me NO WAY you have to pick it up Honey ... OK that's what i was doing but they were not making my damn Latte they were just sitting staring like i was doing something wrong ! They offer the standard lunch fair, but let's face it, who needs salads or sandwiches when you can just load up on Macarons. Yes. Come from the macarons and stay for the macarons. You can also take some macarons home. Is this review a little skewed? Maybe, but for a good reason. They really do have some delicious sweets. Service here was nothing special and far from bad. Unfortunately they only have a limited selection of macarons in flavors such as raspberry, mocha, hazelnut, pumpkin, etc. I had the raspberry and hazelnut which had a nice buttercream filling but the cookies were not good and melted kinda quickly? so weird? The four staff members I interacted with late Saturday afternoon seemed to be miserable to be there and were neither friendly nor helpful. I couldn't hear the woman that was at the cashier and even though it was clear that it was my first time there she was impatient with me. Then when I asked another employee (tall man with a mustache I believe) for the wifi password, he curtly replied that they don't have one. Weird because my laptop detected a network called 'euro' with four bars and no other places nearby have 'euro' in the name. If it was for operations only he could have told me that instead of being rude. Favorite of the two Pasadena locations. This spot is newer, has better natural lighting, and feels very welcoming with its wide open layout. My collective experience has been good-bordering-very-good. I would normally give a place like this 3 stars for being in the category of "okay" / "I like it", but the selection of foods I enjoy here, easy access, and friendly smiles bumped it up to 4 stars. Pros: -wide selection of baked/breakfast/lunch goods -welcoming, open layout -nice bathroom -Bundaberg ginger beer -amazing English muffins (generously oversized, decisions when toasted for dining-in) -selection of macarons -friendly staff -plenty of parking (paid pkg right in front, many cross-streets, across the way in paseo, etc) -some outside seating for warmer days -super speedy service (non peak hrs) Cons: -need to come very early for the widest selection of their most popular baked goods -they sell out early sometimes, depending on the day and crowd (wknd, events in Pasa, etc) -espresso drinks (not strong enough for me, and I've given it a good go... many times) -wait can be long (to order or to have your food arrive to table) I have experienced a few hiccups during a couple of visits--completely missed a dish, missed a drink--but it wasn't something that couldn't be fixed by a simple follow up, flagging down a team member for help. Ordering at the register can be a bit of a challenge (no signs or items can vary from day to day) but staff is kind and patient to explain anything they have in their case. A few times, I've had several questions in a row (esp when I see new items), and I've only been met with thorough answers. Regarding dietary restrictions, they will double check w the kitchen or supervisor/manager if there is the slightest uncertainty. NOTE TO VEGETARIANS: Their pesto has anchovies. Good coffee disappointed in the food. I was looking for breakfast before a meeting in Pasadena and this just wasn't for me. Very friendly service so that's a plus. I asked what's popular and was told the breakfast wraps. The bacon and egg wrap was basically a pre-made wrap microwaved before serving. Pretty flavorless as was the salsa that came with it. Americans love their sandwiches, and I am no exception. I had the famous egg salad on multi-grain bread. It's an open faced sandwich, but it seemed more like egg salad on a giant crouton. It was good, but not great. But let's be honest, I came for the French macarons. There were only two flavors available (blackberry and hazelnut). I tried both, and I probably would have eaten my weight in macaroons if they had more flavors. These guys are bigger than normal, chewier than normal, and have more cream than normal. Great cookies, except the cream squirts out the sides when you bite into them. Shouldn't happen! Regardless, delicious cookies. This is one of those places where you order at the counter and go sit down and they bring your food. That's okay with me, but my friend got his sandwich before I did, which lead to one of those awkward Curb Your Enthusiasm moments. Should I eat now or wait till you get your food, too? The egg salad on olive loaf is very good. It's open faced. There must be a half dozen eggs on the sandwich. They are not in diced chunks like a typical egg salad. Rather they seem randomly cut and smushed and there is no chopped celery. Some of the yolk is slightly soft, which is awesome. It is really heavy, and can easily feed two people. It's the best egg salad I've ever had, so if you're a fan of egg salad, this is a must try. The lady who might be one of the owners was really nice. It took a long time for the sandwich to come out, and the lady was so apologetic, she gave me several free pastries. Among these, the chocolate croissant was very good as well.
