As the owner of a 2007 BMW 335i I was so hopeful for a better experience. Fortunate or not (depending on how you look at things), I was spoiled by having a great "Indy" group whom have taken care of/worked on my BMW since warranty service ended (http://www.importmotorwerks.com/). They were honest, very well priced, and treated me like an intelligent human. I could go on and on about how they took the extra step, but this review isn't for them. With this in mind we recently moved and now unfortunately they are over 60-90min away. Due to our move I have been searching for a good BMW "Indy" shop to fill the void. I stumbled upon Euroclassics though a google search and BMW forums. I had narrowed it down to 2-3 shops and chose to go with Euroclassics based on reviews and for having a cleaner web presence. Up front I was pleased with my initial interactions. I went there right before the holidays and they were kind enough to squeeze me in. They were friendly, clean, and willing to accommodate me while I waited. If I had left at this point I might have given a great review, but this is where things changed. While working in the lobby I heard a comment about a check engine light on my car from the agent (assistant / clerk / scribe) at the front. I was 90% sure it was because my gas cap was stolen the week before (another story), which led to several warnings. When I heard, this I thought it would be best to mention the stolen cap. I asked said agent if they could run a scan to see what the fault was just to make sure it wasn't something else (timeline reminder they just pulled my car in). His reply was they couldn't run the scan because it would take over an hour to run (FYI the most sopheticated OBII to USB programs don't take much longer to use than finding a file on a flash drive you plugged into your computer). After this I was pretty much over having an intelligent conversation (though there were other comments that made me scratch my head). I wish I had the time to do all my own work, but I don't. Given this I was really hoping for a better interaction. Guess it is back to the drawing board.
BTW if you have gotten this far and are interested. I left the shop and went to the Advanced Autoparts off of I-85 and HWY 86, borrowed their OBII reader, pulled the code, verified it was the vapor leak code related to the gas cap (and the only code in the system), cleared said code and now all is good (with no reoccurring codes). The whole process took me about 5min... read more
