No experience with purchasing a vehicle, but I recently had new brake pads & rotors installed. Extremely satisfied with the work they did! Reasons that I will return..... - best price around - hands down! - quality work - no squeaking, no pulsating! - prompt scheduling - on their calendar quickly - loaner car for the day - A HUGE perk of having a mechanic that also sells cars! -- super friendly & professional staff - my favorite of all, Oliver! (Of the canine variety). They will save you money and a headache. I have had the same mechanic for over 15 years, but I took a gamble trying Craige's, and I am happy to say it greatly paid off! read more

After my 2005 Toyota Camry had Died, 483,789 miles I was looking to buy another car and came across Craige Motor Co. In Durham,NC. After spending hours o the lot not finding the car I wanted, I was about to leave and came across a 2002 Saturn S series, Gold in color, she was clean and no dents, solid engine, at 27,000 miles it was a steal. Car was barely driving, first owners used it and hitched it to a camper and traveled all across the USA, seldomly drove the car, so after test driving the car, I decided to buy it ( 10/8/21 ). Today, almost two years now and she still runs like a champ, after replacing the fluids and oil change every 3,000 miles she is going strong. Thanks, Walt and your team for getting me back on the road. read more

Michelle, Walt jr, & Walt senior are all crooked liars. I STRONGLY urge anyone looking at buying a car from this dealer to turn away. Don't give them the time of day to lie to your face. My mother in law just bought a Subaru forester from Craige Motor Company. Don't be fooled by how nice Michelle is. She will lie straight to your face to earn her commission. Michelle showed us a nice looking silver Subaru forester that has a "brand new motor". I must say they did an excellent degreasing job to make this engine look the way it did. There was a minor leak that was played off as a loose gasket that they "fixed" before the purchase. Michelle told us that the only miles on the new engine were the ones that she personally put on it to break it in driving back and forth to work and taking her kids to day care. After purchasing and bringing the car home, lights began to come on. We took it to a family friend who is a mechanic. In return he told us that the engine was not even remotely new. In fact it had been rebuilt well enough to fool someone to buy it. On top of this the catalytic converter was shot and needed to be replaced. We did not tell Craige motor company that we knew this, but we did call them and tell them what was going on. They told us to bring it in to be looked at. In return they told exactly the same thing that our family friend told us. Craige motor company explained to us that it would be in the ball park of 4 thousand for the new block and 2 thousand for the catalytic converter. We paid 6 thousand for the car and they want 6 to fix it. Walt senior does not stand behind his products and lets his son Walt jr do his dirty work. While he cowards in his office. Today we went to the dealership and talked to Walt jr to see if he would make things right and stand behind his product by taking the car back and give us our money back. He did not. His father closed himself in his office and hid behind his son like a coward and told us there's nothing they will do. If you are in the market for a used car don't even give this company the time of day to sit there and lie to your face. read more

I have bought many pre-owned vehicles before but my buying experience with Craige Motor Company would rate at the top. Super nice and informative staff. Walt was able to suggest so many financing options that enabled me to drive off with a nice hybrid vehicle same day. I was able to talk with one of their mechanics who was also very knowledgeable. Michelle took care of the admin and did not miss one beat. I would recommend these folks to anyone. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM CRAIGE MOTOR COMPANY!! They are the exact reason car dealers get a bad reputation. Michelle, a salesperson at the dealership, told us that the car we purchased had a new engine put in "out of the box". We took the car back after a few weeks of driving it because we kept smelling burning oil. They found that the car needed a NEW ENGINE BLOCK. Cost to fix was almost as much as the car we purchased. We asked to speak to the owner and were only allowed to speak to his son, Walter. He said they would not stand behind the claim of the salesperson. Instead told us that he just bought a house with a bunch of leaks and that it's a life lesson. Lesson learned -- don't buy at Craige Motor Company!! read more

I would give zero Stars if I could. My son recently signed a standard contract to purchase a vehicle from this business, contingent upon financing, which was a finance company recommended by Walt. The financing fell through, the car was never delivered, and Walt has decided to keep the down payment. He initially made a "generous" offer to refund half the down payment. My son declined and said that he is legally entitled to the whole down payment. He now refuses to refund any of it and we are in the process of taking legal action and informing all regulatory agencies about his conduct. So if your financing falls through- he will keep your down payment even if he still has the car and the contract is null and void. He doesn't follow or understand contract law and preys on those that he thinks he can get away with it. DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FROM THIS SCAMMER! See attached contract. read more

I highly recommend Craige Motors! This is a family run business. The owner and his son are on site and both care about their customers. They were able to answer all my questions and were very attentive to follow-up conversations. I have bought 3 vehicles from them and have them exclusively do all maintenance on my vehicles. I have recommended them to my family and friends with many thanks. If you are looking for an honest shop with excellent service, Craige Motors is it! Definitely a 5-star company! read more

This guy, Walt Winfrey is a great guy! His entire staff is handpicked for their ability to take care clients! I've known him for years!

Craige Motor Company and its owners Walt Winfrey and Bryan Guarnieri are the biggest thief's in the business! RUN DO NOT WALK! They sell you a car, attempt to solicit or con 25% or more down, attempt to then charge 33% APR , give you a bogus fraudulent "title" when caught, and then turn you over to two! Be Afraid! read more

I am very pleased with my car buying experience! Jeff and Walt at Craige Motor Co. helped me find and finance a 1999 Mercedes C280. I have payments that fit my budget! And I am driving in style with my reliable used car.! I would highly recommend you come to Craige to buy your next car! read more

In the past couple of months I have been shopping around trying to sell or trade in my vehicle and Craige Motor co came in when I needed them! They were helpful and made it seem like you were talking with a friend not a salesman. Gave me a better offer than the other places I had visited so I decided to let my car go for a better one. I would come back here every time based off of their customer service and friendly attitude read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. I am handicapped vet who bought a vehicle from Craige motor company and every week something new popped up wrong with it. it lasted 2 months before the front and rear end fell out on it. I lost 13 grand to this company. please do not make the same mistake, read more

Customer service was okay. I bought a Honda and it came with so many headaches, right off the lot i needed rotors and pads a $600 expense. They fixed the problem for $200 but they put on used pads and rotors and 2 months later the parts failed again. On top of that i feel i was ripped off when they quoted me $600-$800 just for left and right bushings! At the end of the day they were about to fix something that nothing was wrong with. I over paid for the car considering the year and mileage. I would recommend if your getting someone a car that they are justing using to learn how to drive, other than that do go there for a car you thinking of have for a long time.! I was in search of Jeep Grand Cherokee when I came across one at their dealership. I called the dealership and spoke with Jeff whom assured me the vehicle was in excellent condition. I arrived at the dealership to view, inspect and test drive the vehicle. Everything seemed to check out well. After leaving the dealership, Jeff persistently called as he seemed eager to sell the vehicle to me. He was aware I really wanted to purchase a Jeep Grand Cherokee but didn't want me to purchase it anywhere else. I purchased the vehicle and it drove well for the first two weeks. After two weeks, the air conditioning seems to stop blowing out cold air. I immediately called Jeff and he told me to bring it in so they could have a look at it. Jeff was able to recharge the air conditioning system. Again the air started getting cold. Not even a week later I started hearing a grinding noise while driving. While my car was sitting, I noticed a substance leaking from the vehicle. I then assumed it was an oil leak and scheduled a routine oil change. I was then informed the vehicle was in need of brake pads and both front axles were busted. I soon attributed the axles to the grinding noise I had been hearing. Once again I immediately called Jeff to let him know. He then referred me to the owner, Walt. Walt stated I could bring the vehicle back in for inspection but all repairs would be at my expense. I went to Napa and purchased two front axles and had them installed but the grinding noise was still present. At this point, I've spent hundreds of dollars on car repairs. To get to the bottom of the grinding noises, I took the vehicle to the Jeep dealership. Once I heard from Chris at the dealership, he stated the vehicle needed a new transfer case, which is a transmission. After getting the transfer case fixed, I have now spent thousands of dollars. All these car repairs have happened within the first 30 days of purchasing the vehicle. I would strongly advise no one to purchase any vehicle from this dealership. P.S. Buyer's Beware!! The positive post are FAKE! If they don't mention these two by name then it's not true! read more

Brought a car less than a month ago from the trash car dealership, brought a 2005 for 3500 this car would not have issues less than 2 days later than check engine comes on I go back they say it's just the gas cap advise me it shouldn't come back anymore and reset , but guess what 2 days after that it comes back on didn't have time to back by until today and the dude that sold me pos says by state it's as is wtf I'm so pissed NEVER AGAIN POS dealership read more

My son was foolish enough to purchase a car 2 days ago from this place. To say that this car is a lemon would be an understatement. Since the car has come into our possession, we have had a leak in the it roof, there appears to be an electrical issue as none of the lights works, the battery is completely dead each morning and the alarms goes off without any reason. More importantly it looks like someone purposely removed a critical fuse from the fuse box. When this particular fuse was reinstalled, it clearly showed that the "Check Engine" light had been on. In other words, they deliberately hid an critical issue in order to sell this car. My son put a lot of trust into this company and he is paying the price for it dearly. If you want a car to drive, I DO NOT RECOMMEND that you buy one from this company. read more

Working with this company has been very easy and non-stressful. Becca was wonderful to work with and Walt can keep you laughing. The car itself has a few issues but nothing major I think, which Walt assured me his master mechanic can check out for me. Overall a great experience, although next time I will choose the vehicle a little more carefully. This was a spur of the moment, needed a car now kind of deal and so I didn't spend much time picking it out. read more

Craige Motor Co has been there since I was in college, over 20 years ago. It's not a fly-by-night place. We visited several new and used car dealerships in Durham looking for a used Cadillac or similar luxury sedan at the right price. We visited Craige twice and found the vehicle we wanted the first time, and the salesperson was helpful and knowledgeable about the cars. When we came back the car was not on the lot (the owner had loaned it to a customer who was having her repairs done there), but he made every effort to get it returned within 2 hours so we could test drive it. He negotiated the perfect price in a straightforward, zero-pressure way and we bought it that afternoon. The whole staff was helpful, even looking at a minor problem and diagnosing it. They have their own shop and work on the cars they sell and I'm going to start taking my other car there for maintenance and repair too. So glad we went with Craige! Would definitely recommend. read more

Excellent experience. I sold my car here for more than I was offered at CarMax. The owner was always professional.
