Was in the neighborhood and craving a pastry of sorts. Found this place on Yelp. Seems like they do more business as a cafe and bread place and not so much pastries. The selection was fairly small. I opted for a baklava to go with my morning coffee. It was on the larger size which was nice but it was cold like it "may" have been previously frozen, not sure. It didn't quite taste as fresh as I would have liked. The service was good, attendant was friendly. Because it was mid morning there were not any people so I'm wondering if they get busier for lunch. Wow! We tried another new place and was surprised by the amount of options and beauty of the pastries. Prices were high but if you want to splurge I definitely recommend this place. We tried their imported chocolates, canolis, cakes, and macarons! All were absolutely delicious! We did find out this is a family business. They are right next to a dollar tree so if you need to get some some little trinkets, you can go shopping and grab a delicious dessert on your way out! The only thing I would add is possibly having a more decorative way of showing off their delicious treats and make sure you let your cakes thaw a bit because ours was a little bit icy since we ate it right away! One of my best friends is Bosnian and told me to come here to get the spice that she turned me on too called Vegeta. It's a chicken based seasoning that I literally put on EVERYTHING. It makes food taste so much better. I specifically came here for that this time and also picked up some juices the kids like as well. They do have a bakery/deli that you can order fresh made food but it can take 20 minutes depending on what you order and we were short on time. They carry a bunch of foods and sweets here as well. Short story - Bosnian grocery store, bakery, restaurant and social center. The food we tried was Hit and Miss. Service is very minimal. They also made substitutions without notice. Long story - This is a humble local business that caters to the Bosnian Population. This isn't a fancy place as it looks very worn. The atmosphere is extremely energetic. Many people coming in doing grocery shopping and picking up bags full of prepared meals. Even with only a few seated tables there is LOUD conversation in foreign tongue and there also is foreign TV playing in the background. Everyone seems to know each other. We thought that our order wouldn't take too long because we only noticed one table before us but they were slammed with takeout orders so the food took over a half an hour. I tried a grilled chicken sandwich. I thought it was a safe bet because they've been in business for over 20 years... I received a GIANT SIZE whole bread with two grilled very flat chicken breast and an extremely large pile of what they called salad on the side. I thought the bread was fluffy and tasty. The chicken was seasoned nice but was extremely tough. It was like trying to chew a steel belted tire. I couldn't eat the chicken. The what-they-call "salad" was very similar American East Coast Health Salad (like cole slaw but not creamy). I have to rate my meal between one and two stars...Fresh baked bread and cole slaw was very good. I would stay away from chicken here. My husband ordered the Combo Platter. It differed from the description. It didn't come with steak or the hamburger. He received - some chicken breast (that was slightly better than what they gave me) Sausage - I think skinless beef that was ok one long sausage - spicy - very good veal kabob - dry and chewy - not edible One large bread - very good large salad (non-creamy cole slaw) very good We also picked up one dessert to try. We picked up a Subarice. It's also called a Russian Cap. It's suppose to be sort of like a cupcake but with vanilla and chocolate cake with coconut trimming and topped with chocolate. Neither of us could eat this dessert because it was a big marshmallow topped with really cheap tasting chocolate cake. We both thought the taste was offensive. It just didn't taste good to either of us. Hit and miss and some substitutions were made without notice. Service is minimal. You might want to give this place a try for people watching or to take out some fresh bread. read more

It was my first visit to this place. It is in a somewhat sketchy area. I lined up to order; there were two small groups of people ahead of me. The first person was done in a couple minutes. The second group of two ladies took literally 15 minutes! It's been a long time since I've waited that long in line. My lunch cost $20, which is way too much for a little place like this. (For comparison, I can eat happy-hour supper at Pappadeaux for less than that, and it includes an alcoholic drink.) I did get a lot of food. The goulash was excellent. But the bourek (filo dough meat roll) and dessert were not very fresh; a little old and dried up. Also they are set up as a bakery, so once you get your food, do not expect any service at the table. It was about 5 degrees too warm in there (need more AC). I might have come back for the goulash for a quick lunch on a work day, but they are not quick! read more

This place is a hit or miss with their food. I'm Croatian and the food is basically all the same as Bosnian food, so when we don't feel like cooking anything, we usually come here. When they first opened, their Pitas/Bureks (what we usually order) were full of the cheese filling, but in the past year or two, it's rare that you get a Pita/Burek that is actually filled enough with cheese. Most of the time it's just dough, which is still better than nothing. What really docks of stars is their customer service... I drive by this place on my way home, so on a day I got off early, my mom asked me to stop by and pick up 5 cheese pitas/bureks. I get there, and ask for 5 cheese and they only had 3 cheese and 2 meat, so I said I'll take it, and the male owner became incredibly rude with me, telling me that if I wanted more than a couple pitas that I had to call ahead of time... Um, well what if I am feeding multiple people, and we on a whim decided we wanted this to eat?? I tried to explain that my mom had just called me and asked to get some since it's on my way and that I was happy with whatever they had available. So then, of course, he is pissy, doesn't even tell me what my total is and just holds his hand out for money. This is a no-no. I need to know what I am paying so that I can make sure to balance it out. My mom went back a few months after that, and ordered again about 5 pitas/bureks and some Cevapi and some bread (which I will get to later). My mom complained to them that they really should start actually filling the pitas, for which they had no comment. This time he did tell my mom the total, and she paid cash, and was to get just over $5 back, which he didn't give her back. Left a bad taste in her mouth and she felt awkward asking for her money back. Their breads are overloaded with yeast. That is all you can taste and smell when eating the rolls or their loaves of bread. It sucks because when they initially opened, their bread was absolutely delicious. The desserts are usually pretty good. Every so often, we get pitas that are actually full of the cheese filling, but it's far and few between. If you're looking for an authentic place for pitas/meats, go to Cafe Sarajevo on 34th ave and Northern or for great pitas and authentic European breads and rolls, go to Balkan Bakery on 12th st and Bell... it's SO worth it. It's 2 stars for convenience when I just want some food and don't feel like making it myself. read more

Its a Bosian place and I am told the food is very good. I work with 2 other Bosnians who like the food here and say it is auhtentic enough. Stars docked for telling me once they had something, driving down to get it and then bluntly telling us they lied and they though once we went over there we could get something else ! On the positive side, the food is yummy, the deserts are even better and if it was not for that one negative incident I would have been inclined to give them maybe a 3 &1/2 to 4 stars. read more

Our friends took us here for lunch recently and the wife and I were very impressed. I'd totally tell ya'll about the great things we had here, but the menu was in Bosnian so our friends ordered for us. The bottom line is the food was terrific. We had a great assortment of breads stuffed with meats and cheeses, accompanied with sour cream, tomatoes and onions. Beef sausages and an awesome bean soup with smoked beef. It's a great,clean family style restaurant that is also a full service bakery and Bosnian market. When you stop in you have to get the Fanta Shokata. It's elderberry and lemon flavored and it is FANTA-stic. If you don't speak Bosnian I recommend you just stop in and ask what's good, grab a Shokata and enjoy some great food. read more

Cevapi and Burek oh my!! Plus I got to hang with my fabulous friend Amra! Score! We wanted something extra good to eat after finishing our Mud Factor race on Saturday and lord knows I have been craving some Cevapi so off we went to Euro Bakery. It was already bookmarked as a place I wanted to try so this was a win, win in my book. Everything is made fresh to order and once you walk in, you can smell the fresh baked bread that they have made throughout the day. There is also a mini grocery store for you to buy items as well. My Cevapi (little beef sausages with fresh bread, onions and a sour cream like dip) came out piping hot and piled high. My friends Burek was huge (hmm not sure hot to explain so you will have to look that one up) and we both dived in like it was the last meals we would ever have. Will I come back? Hmm heck yes, but alas this treat can only be saved for when I burn off and absurd amount of calories so that I can indulge and not feel guilty at all. I've learned to deal with "meh" customer service as long as the product I want is great, and their fresh bread and pita is worth it! We split the Cevapi on the Lepijna bread for lunch since this sandwich is very large and it was great. Fresh to order and very tasty. Came with traditional onions and sour cream. We also bought some of the salt bread to go but all their bread looks fantastic and baked fresh daily. Small family owned an operated bakery, with (I believe) a Romanian flair. They offer hot sandwiches, fresh baked goods, desserts and a small variety of cheeses and meats. All of the sandwiches sounded delicious; I decided on the beef phyllo. (I wanted the spinach, bu they were all out). It was a delicious, flaky giant pretzel like phyllo stuffed with seasoned beef. It was quite tasty, but was lukewarm, so it needed some nuking when I got home. I wanted to try a dessert, but they only offer desserts a few days a week. I guess they are brought in from an outside vendor, which was kind of a bummer. read more
