Got the triple smash and it was more like they took the sliders and combined them. Eureka Smashflation at is best shrinking the burgers.

I've went back and forth with this establishment several times and probably should have written 3 reviews already. The reason I say this is that they literally had been all over the place as far as the service goes. I've mulled over giving them as low as 2 stars at times for the lack of attention. However, when I will knowingly return somewhere, I will be much more patient with them. Believe it or not, I've had at least 3 bills comped for the horrible service after complaining. And I'm not even a whiner.. They have made great strides recently though with some newer, more attentive employees. Also maybe they were scolded.. All this being said, the food has consistently been above average without a doubt. Not your typical bar fare, more like farm to table. They have a daily happy hour from 3-6pm and 9-12 midnight. A few beers, drinks and food items are marked down a bit here. There is actually a Eureka specific IPA beer by Duckfoot called "The Show" dedicated to the SDSU Aztecs fan base. The prices are very reasonable as this particular beer is only $5.50 a pint at all times. Burgers here are some of the better ones I've had for reals and my other favorites include the Napa chicken sandwich and the Ahi Poke stack with black rice. So delicious! Been definitely now a regular here for a few years and much more satisfied.

My son and I were out Estate saying over the weekend and we started getting a bit hungry. He suggested Eureka because he had been to a different location and enjoyed it. We decided to try the one neat SDSU. We did have to find a pay parking in the area because parking was so difficult. It was worth it! We ordered a truffle cheese fries with garlic airlines to share. Yum! We ate the fries before the burgers arrived. Delicious...I highly recommend these fries. My burger came and it was a bit unusual. It had fig marmalade, goat cheese, etc. But the flavors we on point! Love this gastropub. Oh, I enjoyed an ice tea. Lol!

Here's the bad first: Came here for a work lunch with a large group of 13 on Saturday. They sat us at a table for 10, maybe 11 with one on the end. Which meant 2 people had chairs but no table space to put their food. They ended up moving across the way to a booth to eat, which defeated the purpose of eating together. Second thing that was offputting - they have a lot of college age staff who were hanging about and leaning on counters, not really helping bus tables or refill drinks. Two of them were actually sitting at the end of the bar apparently taking their breaks, one with headphones on. Third - the Caesar salad was severly underdressed. It had a huge mound of finely grated parmesan, but no dressing. What saved this from one star was the rest of the food. Sticky Pork Belly Bites were the star of the show. So delicious and great for sharing - except no serving utensil provided. Fresno Fig Burger was delicious with fig marmalade, bacon and goat cheese, especially with a veggie patty substitute. And the Honey-Cinnamon Sweet Potato Fries were truly special. I'm going to try another location next time and see how it goes. At least I know what to order!

    ...vodka martini (??)

My husband, a couple of friends and I were headed to a Sunday night concert at SDSU Viejas Arena recently, which I'd never been to, and our friend suggested we go to Eureka! for dinner beforehand. I'd been to the Carlsbad location before and had enjoyed it, so we all agreed. We arrived about an hour before doors, and there was a line of a few parties ahead of us and a few more soon arrived behind us. For a party of 4, we were quoted a 1.5-2 hour wait which was pretty insane considering there were a few empty/emptying tables in the (albeit small) restaurant, but it became quickly evident that lack of staffing was probably the biggest issue. We asked if we could sit at the bar, to which the hostess told us we were welcome to if we could find a spot. We decided it would be fastest to get in and out if we split up, so our two friends sat at one end of the bar while my husband and I snagged two seats at the other end. We had to clear off and wipe down our own counter space, as it still had the remnants of whoever was there before us. It took a solid 7 minutes before the bartender even made her way to us to give us menus, and another 5-7 minutes before we were able to place our drink order. My husband settled on an old fashioned, I ordered a vodka martini. I asked whether they had bleu cheese olives (negative), so regular olives it was. When our drinks arrived I couldn't help but laugh at mine - I'd never had a martini served in anything but a martini glass - it was delivered to me in a tulip glass. Even the stranger next to me leaned over and asked, "is that a.... martini??" Both my husband's cocktail and mine were just "meh," on the next round he ordered a beer and I opted for a seltzer. We ordered our food, the Eureka! American for me ($14.85) and the Fresno Fig ($16.50) for my husband, neither of which come with any side. While we waited we had a front row view to observe the operation behind the bar, which was really chaotic and disorganized. We had people bellying up behind and beside us trying to place a drink order, and the bartenders would inform them - in a tone that made it clear they had very little patience left - they needed to proceed to the outside bar on the opposite side to place a drink order. Many of the patrons were visibly irritated and confused, I assume because they'd been waiting at their table to place a drink order but as we noticed from the jump, the staffing was inadequate so they decided to take it on themselves. Our burgers were just okay - nothing special and my husband insisted even after turning his burger open-faced that there was little to no fig marmalade or much of any of the other ingredients he was looking forward to. My burger was pretty straightforward, but came at the wrong temperature - I requested medium-well and it was medium-rare, but based on the chaos and understaffing we had witnessed all night I wasn't about to complain. We paid our bill as quickly as possible, and got the heck outta there. Definitely not a great experience and if I knew then what I know now, we would've picked an entirely different restaurant to dine at, even if it weren't walking distance to the venue like Eureka! is. If I were to dine here again, it would be only if I had 2+ hours of time to kill so we didn't have to rush amidst chaos, and maybe we could actually be seated WITH our friends and better enjoy our experience.

I get the overall rating of Eureka at SDSU, I would say the food is 3.5 but overall it's your typical American burger dining experience. The best thing Eureka has going for itself is the appetizers like the Brussel sprouts. However----for this location the service was not that great---it does get crowded but when we went in the afternoon the food came out a various times and we didn't get appetizers first. I did have a better experience at Eureka at UTC mall. The food was good, I got a blackened salmon over salad---the location is great for students---but the price not so much for students. The salmon over salad with everything came out closer to $20. The Dorito chips and corn were a nice touch to the salad. The inside of the place looked well kept and I can see how many would come here to grab a quick drink instead of food.

I ordered the Fresno Fig Burger and the combination of goat cheese with a fig marmalade was great

Just a super chill vibe, especially on a warm evening. During the warm days they'll open up the side wall so every table feels like the outdoors. The fig burger was tasty and we also had a beer flight where we loved three of the four drinks. Altogether happy that Eureka is within walking distance of our house because it makes me smile every time I visit.

Great spot and when the fireplace is working it's gonna be even better!

What a great experience at this restaurant! Happy hour ends at 6P and we got in there at about 550p. We ordered from Dylan at the bar and then connected with Nathan who was the GM. Great attitudes and even better service. We sat around the fire, which wasn't really a fire, cause it was broken, but all in all it was a fantastic experience. We'll come back to this place because the food was tasty and they're working on improving it as it sees a lot of action from the SDSU student students.

The food is amazing, but unfortunately the service really takes away from the experience. It took about 15 minutes for a server to approach our table, and no water was provided while we waited. ( had to ask a host if we can have water) We also waited a while for our food, which would have been more understandable if basic service like bringing water right after being seated had been handled promptly. Additionally, the host was on their phone at the front, which didn't leave a great first impression. Do better Eureka because the food is great :)

Eureka! serves up some seriously delicious food. We tried the Mac N' Cheese Balls, which were amazing, along with the Caesar Salad and Al Pastor Tacos. The Fish and Chips (not pictured) were an absolute favorite--crispy and flavorful! To top it off, we had their carrot cake (also not pictured), which came in a sharable slice and was so tasty. The vibe here is chill and laid-back, with a choice of outdoor patio or indoor seating. Shoutout to Emely, who was super nice, knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful in answering all our questions about the dishes. Highly recommend checking out Eureka!--the food and service are both fantastic!

Our reservations were early, arriving on time @ 5:30 it was a bit quiet with only two other tables, but not for long. In no time every single table was filled. The restaurant was busy and the wine was a'flowin'! This quaint and very special restaurant reminds me of a small restaurant in San Diego in the 1980's, "Ciao Bella". It was located downtown on 4th Ave., it was also chef-owned. When you dine at a chef owned restaurant you are most likely destined for greatness, or a great meal! This is the case at Angela's Kitchen 'Carbon', because there is pure authenticity in her dishes and a whole lotta' love delivered in each plate. The subtle, warm decor is welcoming and the music is played at the perfect level. Just the right ambiance. Once seated, you'll be promptly greeted and the attentive wait staff will have your wine delivered pronto. What a selection they have. I started with the prosecco and moved on to the Sangiovese which complimented my pappardelle perfectly. My friend ordered the grilled salmon and had the Montepulciano Abate Pietro. The delivery of their fresh bread with garlicky pesto, and another with tomato, which I think was a focaccia. Just amazing. We asked for olive oil to compliment the bread: it was the very best of quality with a dark Sicilian olive green hue and the smoothness with the polyphenols and antioxidants dancing in my mouth. Yum! I asked for a side of Parmigiano and they brought a nice square ramekin full of finely grated cheese, Perfection!! These are the details that make me fall in love with a restaurant, causing me to return again and again. Both of our entrees were executed perfectly, the vegetables were grilled leaving a slight char, and the salmon was grilled just right leaving a tender center. My pappardelle was dressed in the deepest, richest mushroom + beef cheek fusion of flavors with whispers of some kind of red wine like maybe the Nero d'Avola that they feature on the menu. WoW!! This is a dish that you want to take your time savoring. Every bite surpassed the last, and then a sip of the Sangiovese and I was in fresh pasta heaven. Just when we were winding down and reeling from being overwhelmed by the amazing food, Angela came to our table with cannoli. It too was amazing! This was such a kind and unexpected gesture from the chef/owner. Grazie mille, a domani!

As we arrived, I ordered my current favorite beer on tap, Coco Ono, from Bay City Brewing. It's a piña coloda IPA that's not too sweet, and has great coconut flavor. Moments later I realized that there was a Taco Tuesday special that was $15 for 2 tacos a draft beer of your choosing. Since the Coco Ono is $9 alone (ouch!), I realized it was a better deal to get the Taco Tuesday special. I asked Karina if I could turn that draft I ordered into the special, and they kindly obliged...nice! The last time I was here, I noticed some wings coming out of the kitchen and they looked awesome. So this time I knew I had to get the wings, $16. I ordered a 9 piece of Buffalo wings, per staff recommendation, and they did not disappoint. We actually got 10 piping hot wings served with stacks of baby carrots, fresh cut celery, and both ranch and blue cheese. I'd love to see them do a homemade ranch because it would better compliment the wings than that Hidden Valley stuff. Wings were a 5/5!!! I forgot to even mention the tacos. That's probably because I forgot about them...lol. While the small TJ tacos had some solid carne with onions and cilantro, they were a bit plain. Served on two tortillas with 2 salsas, and 2 limes, a little bit of guac would have livened them up. I probably wouldn't order them on their own at $3 each, but as part of the $15 deal, it was all good. 4/5 for the deal. Lastlly, we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, which was a HITT!. I had previously tried a few slices of pepperoni pizza last time, and it was a good snack to have with some brews, but nothing memorable. However this time, the BBQ Chicken pizza was up there with my favorite one in town. It was covered with loads of chicken, which they stated was cooked in-house, cilantro and BBQ sauce. The crust did look like it was a little over baked, but it ended up having a perfect under crust with zero burnt flavor. Only the outer crust was ultimately effected and got a bit crackery. All in all it was a really delicious pie. All the while Karina and Emma were answering my many questions, tapping off our drinks, and providing pretty much anything we asked for. The food presentation was great, the restaurant was immaculate, and the service was friendly, all giving an overall 5 stars. Thanks to Emma, Karina, Paul, and the kitchen staff for making this a delicious evening. I'll definitely be back for the pizza and the wings.

I'm amazed at the crisp and crunch of the vegan wings. Sweet Thai chili was good, but I can't wait to try more of their sauce options! The jackfruit hoagie was a good combo of sweet and spicy with the kimchi and gochujang sauce. 10/10 - would come back and take a tour through the rest of the menu! Service was very quick and friendly, and the shop shares a cute game room with some gaming systems.

You order at the window and then they bring the food out to you. They also have water available that you can refill yourself. There is a room where you can play video games while waiting or when you're done. They also have books and physical media (movies and music). There are some merchandise for sale as well. We ordered yuzu lemon pepper wings, horchata bites, oyama burger, and diego burger. Fair prices and good size portions. They have restrooms in the back. Overall, this is about a 4 to me. It's worth checking out if you're in the area. -yuzu lemon pepper wings 5 - these were very tasty, no complaints. The lemon was not overpowering at all. I also liked that the wings were very meaty. -horchata bites 3.5 - they were not bad. Since they were called horchata bites, I wanted more of that horchata flavor to hit my taste buds. -oyama burger 5 - I only had a bite of this since my girlfriend ordered this. I actually prefer this over the diego burger. -diego burger 3.5 - this one was okay. I had plenty of sauce on mine, but I felt like the burger was overshadowed by the arugula. The burger should be the star of the show but I had too much arugula. It masked the flavor of the burger.
