We enjoyed our visit at ETC overall. The service was a little slow at times, it seemed as if our waiter was also our bartender so drinks took a bit longer, but they were boozy and delicious. The food was good. We enjoyed the chicken, deviled eggs and pasta, it was spicy and full of flavor! The best part was the music, I love good jams although it was soooooo loud lol

I stopped by here during a Friday happy hour. I ordered the Deviled Eggs, Arugula Salad (not pictured), Truffle Hot & Dry Rub Wings, and the ETC Burger & Fries. The Deviled Eggs were delicious. The Arugula Salad was surprisingly refreshing and the vinaigrette was sharp and flavorful. Unfortunately, the wings left a bit to be desired. The Truffle Hot had a bit of a muted spice (and I LOVE SPICY FOOD). The Dry Rub was pretty good. Lastly, the ETC Burger was solid. The Bacon Jam and bun were the stars of the show for me. The service was timely, attentive, and very nice (always appreciated). The restaurant had good music and lowered "sexy" lighting. I enjoyed how spacious the place was, which can be misleading from outside. Ultimately, I think etc. is worth the Happy Hour and parts of the full menu. If you prefer bar food, then you may want to try the full menu options (Oxtails, Red Snapper, Salmon)

Five stars for the brunch menu. The food was excellent! Went for brunch Sunday. It was a little later in the afternoon so it wasn't too busy. The waitress came to our table abruptly. It was sort of weird. She was new I was told. She didn't say hi, didn't offer any specials. I mean nothing but "can I get you guys something to drink?" We laughed because it was the way she approached the table. Anyways, She came back and we gave her our food orders and drinks. When I tell you I didn't see her again at our table until check time? I'm not kidding. We were flagging random staff down to get things like condiments and a dropped fork replaced. The place has a weird echo to it and no music. Like nothing soaking up that extra space in sound. They need a rug or two, music or TVs. The echo was loud and made the ambience boring and weird. The decor is beautiful however. Love the art. I called for the manager because they add gratuity to the check. Ok. Can you add better service? It's a black owned restaurant so I didn't ask that it be removed from my check but I wanted the manager to know about the bad service i received. I have been back for private parties and I would return for dinner to give it another try. We tried the lemon ricotta pancakes. Excellent. Chicken and waffles. Delicious. Mimosas.

This is a beautiful upscale modern restaurant. The service was phenomenal because our waiter took the time to answer all our questions and make recommendations. He checked in on us frequently and made us feel like queens! The food from appetizer, to dinner to dessert was a 9 out of 10! This is a great place to have a date night or impress your boss.

My mom and I were on our annual girls' trip, and for her birthday, I wanted to treat her to a special dinner so I chose etc. I was immediately drawn to the restaurant because of the chef's reputation, and from the moment we arrived, the experience exceeded my expectations. We were warmly greeted at the door by a wonderful gentleman who recognized us right away and wished my mom a happy birthday, it was such a thoughtful touch. Our reservation was honored promptly, and we were seated without any wait. Our server, whose name unfortunately escapes me; was incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming. He had a genuinely positive energy and made us feel truly cared for. To celebrate my mom's birthday, they even offered her a complimentary glass of champagne, which added a lovely, elevated touch to the evening. What we ordered: Steak Frites - 14 oz Porcini-Crusted C.A.B. New York Strip with Mashed Potatoes ($54) ETCpresso Martini - Mezcal, Demerara, Espresso ($19) I ended up updating my order since the in-person menu differed slightly from the one online, but everything worked out perfectly. My mom and I shared the steak, and it was absolutely delicious. I even convinced her to try it cooked medium--and she loved it! The restaurant itself is beautifully maintained, and even the restrooms were spotless, which speaks to the overall care put into the space. Honestly, I'm surprised this place isn't packed every night; it's a hidden gem. Delicious food, outstanding service, and a great atmosphere. We will definitely recommend it to friends visiting Chicago.

Etc -- Experience Taste Cocktails. Went the first time for Happy Hour as we often do to scope out a new spot. Full menu had some interesting offerings so we were cautiously optimistic. Hoping for some interesting Southern Food. Beautiful room and bar. Club music pounding. Fine but at 4pm?!?! Welcoming reception, friendly if not pushy service. Started with a couple of delicious featured drinks-- Hugo Spritz, Cognac Old Fashioned, Fried green tomatoes with burrata, smoked catfish dip with crackers, shrimp cebiche (their spelling). All were fine but not noteworthy. And that's why we didn't order more. Two menu items that looked interesting were the chicken suya and oxtail and grits, the latter of which seemed too heavy for this weather, the former too pricey. The rest of the menu items were typical of many American restaurants : Ora Salmon, burger, steak frites, pasta (tempting bucatini!), fish. See how all over the place ? All seemed too pricey to take a chance on. Saw someone on the sidewalk patio with the burger and it looked ok -- I'm just not a fan of all the rich toppings it came with. Chef /owner seems to have a point of view but isn't pulling the trigger on it which is a shame. When you want to be all things to all people, ya just basic. And there's no reason for ETC to be that.

Wow wow wow. I can't wait to return to Etc! I'm a sucker for a good fried green tomato and theirs is incredibly good. The star of the show for me was their chicken curry - it was full of flavor, I highly recommend it. And make sure you get those collard greens too!

Yesterday me, my best friend and her friends all visited Etc after an aerial fitness class. Nothing beats grabbing brunch with a group of women after a fitness class. One of the friends made reservations beforehand. We were a bit earlier to our reservation, but the waiter had no problem sitting us down and taking our coats which is thoughtful considering we all had our winter coats on. We took in the space and one of the friends took to the mirror in the corner for selfies. I liked the giant wall of white roses. I was definitely feeling the vibe inside. We looked over the menu and started brunch the right way with pineapple and grapefruit mimosas. We ordered the biscuit as an appetizer. It came with butter and jelly. Since one of the friends loves biscuits she was raving about how good it was and was contemplating about getting another, but thankfully one of the friends decided to give their portion up so she can enjoy it. For our entrees we ordered the breakfast sandwich, avocado toast, and the breakfast burrito. My best friend orders the breakfast sandwich. On the menu it said it came with beef bacon, but it wasn't on the entree when it came. My best friend alerted our waitress and our waitress said they made changes to the menu. They did bring out a plate of beef bacon for her to put it on her breakfast sandwich. I had the breakfast burrito and it was so good. The great thing about Etc is they have turkey and beef bacon which I really appreciate. There's not many opportunities for me to enjoy beef bacon at a restaurant so I think it's great they have it as an option. We were all raving about the potatoes and how nicely seasoned they were. My friends saw the aioli dripping from my burrito and thought it looked so good! And WAS! Everyone else enjoyed their entree and had enough to take home. I can't wait to sink my teeth into the other half of my breakfast burrito as I'm typing the review. I've had Etc on my list to visit for dinner so I hope to be following up my brunch review with a dinner review soon.

Visited for the 1st time to try the happy hr menu before a bulls game. 1 thing I would like to point out is that this place is very spacious and the setup is well laid out. While we only at the bar I noticed that the tablea & chairs throughout the restaurant were nicely spaces out. I've found that alot of establishments will squeeze alot of tables & chairs into a space which makes it feel clutter & uncomfortable. The apps we tried were 11/10. We had the catfish dip & tomotoes. The housemade crackers that come with the dip needed to be its own item...11/10! Drinks were pretty good. Service was welcoming. The hostess even came back & asked how we enjoyed things. The bartistas were friendly too. I'll be returning to try both the brunch & regular menus!

I was excited to try this new spot. The food was decent and the ambiance was even better. I appreciated the personalized menu for my special day. I wanted to try the catfish spread but it wasn't an option on the menu that day. The menu changes. The service was great, the young lady was attentive and helpful.

Very chic and elegant dining experience. Interior was perfectly done. Had a beautifully done very large white rose mural on one side which was eye catching and memorable, looks 3D. They also have live music which gave it a romantic vibe. Tried only a couple of things as we weren't very hungry and for the most part was good. The deviled egg appetizer was superb especially topped with caviar....yummmm. Also ordered the CAB Filet Au Poivre which is a 45 day dry aged filet (medium rare) served with side of garlic potato cake (looked like hash browns but with a garlicky flavor which hit the spot) and green beans. Honestly the meat was cooked to my liking but felt it was a bit salty side. They were out of the whole fish so guess will have to travel to try it another day. Also have to try their dessert next time for sure. Banana pudding is calling my name

    Lemon blueberry pancakes are delicious.

I went here for Sunday brunch. The food and service is amazing. They had Dj Radio Champ spinning all of my favorite 90's R&B hits. I highly recommend. I want to come back for dinner.

Let me tell you -- I absolutely LOVED my happy hour experience here. The service alone was amazing, the bartenders and bar manager were great and gave such amazing service as well as knowledge about the restaurant, food, and drinks. The ambiance is sooooooo nice and the aesthetic is amazing! It is the perfect place to rent out and host a dinner party for sure! The drinks were amazing -- my cousin and I had the pineapple daiquiri (which WAS NOT frozen) and man was that drink refreshing! For food, I had the burger and she had the wings with truffle hot sauce and we shared the collard green artichoke dip and some biscuits! Everything was delicious! I'm talking so savory and full of flavor. I absolutely love this place and am thinking of trying out their brunch! Lamar knew what he was doing when he opened this establishment!

Be sure to make your reservation in advance because you will not be seated without one due to its popularity among both locals and tourists. We come here every time we visit Chicagoat. The food is absolutely amazing. We had the following dishes: 1. Roasted Pig Face Straw fries topped with roasted pork face, a sunny egg, and a collection of magical sauces that somehow transform into pure comfort when mixed together. I don't even know exactly what's in the sauce, but I don't need to know. This dish is divine and an absolute must-order. The crispy fries, rich and tender pork that practically melts apart, silky egg yolk, and savory sauce create a dish that is indulgent, comforting, and ridiculously delicious 2. Green Beans Not featured in the photo because we ate them too fast. Enough said. Get them. 3. Goat Mousse The menu changes periodically, so this was a new dish for us. The goat mousse was creamy, rich, and surprisingly light, served with sweet jam, crumpets, crackers, pickles, and giardiniera. The contrast of sweet, tangy, creamy, crunchy, and savory flavors creates a little flavor party in your mouth. Every bite can be customized differently, which made this dish especially fun to share. 4. Pork Belly & Watermelon Perfectly cooked pork belly with a crisp exterior and rich, savory flavor, balanced beautifully by refreshing watermelon cubes and fresh greens. I don't know how healthy it is, but we aren't here for health. We're here for flavor. We're here for comfort. We're here to be punched in the soul with food that we will never forget! The sweet, juicy watermelon cuts through the richness of the pork belly and creates a combination that sounds unusual but works incredibly well. 5. Halibut with Thai Sprouts A beautifully cooked piece of halibut served with Thai sprouts, miso marcona butter, and blueberry fish sauce. Yes, blueberry fish sauce. And yes, it works. The fish was flaky, buttery, and perfectly cooked. The savory umami from the miso butter paired with the subtle sweetness and acidity from the fish sauce created a combination that was balanced, and memorable yet surprising to me. The restaurant itself has a dark, energetic atmosphere and is always packed. The tables are definitely close together, but given how popular the restaurant is, I understand why they maximize the space. Absolutely recommend coming here. Your tummies won't regret it.

Unfortunately this time the food was not hitting. We ordered: - goat empanada - one of my favorite back in the day but this time, it literally tasted like goat version of a ragu and my friend said it tasted like any other beef empanada out there. Nothing special this time around - string beans - surprisingly my favorite out of the entire meal with the crunch and various flavors and textures - pork shank - I did not like this. The pork was incredibly tender but it seemed like there were too many conflicting flavors and nothing seemed to shine. The pickled onions conflicted against the overly sweet pork. It was better by itself but we were told to make our own "tacos" with the pita or lettuce and combine everything The service was great which is why I gave this place 3* instead of a 2* for the food. Unfortunately I will not be coming back. It now makes sense why this time it was far easier to make a reservation than last time.

Hands down, and I don't say this lightly - Boka is one of my favorite restaurants in the country. I don't think it's too wild to say it may certainly be my FAVORITE restaurant in the US of A. This past week was my second pilgrimage to Boka, and I was stoked as ever. We ordered some non-alcoholic drinks, a few appetizers, and our entrees (duck and black truffle chicken). We had a nice discussion with the waiter and shared our enthusiasm and excitement with him. We shared that this was our return to my safe culinary haven, and I was prepared to be dazzled again. And dazzled I was. The chicken was phenomenal. The flavors were amazing and so poignant, and the tenderness of chicken made you really question if you were eating chicken at all. Everything was so moist and tender, and each bite was a ballet of flavor in your mouth. The duck, although not the star of the show, was hearty and delicious as well. The parsnip puree added an earthiness complexion to each slice of duck. The kicker of the night was when our server brought us our bill at the end. He gifted us complimentary menus of what we ordered that night, paired with a generous "Welcome Back" and the date of our wonderful evening. That small, but mighty, gesture encapsulates Boka in a nutshell. Fine dining, excellent quality of food, topped with service that was personally catered to make our meal enjoyable. It's about the experience, and every aspect of our experience at Boka was met with extraordinary marks. I'm dreaming already of round 3 at Boka. When? I don't know. But I'll be ready to tango again.

The crispy potato chips added a great crunch, and the cornichons brought just the right amount of acidity to balance everything out. Next came the Hokkaido scallops, and they were cooked perfectly. I also appreciated that the kitchen split all of our appetizers onto separate plates since we were sharing. It's a small detail, but it made the meal feel much more thoughtful. For our entrees, we ordered the black truffle chicken and the glazed beef short rib. I'm not sure how they prepared the chicken, but it was incredibly tender with some of the most flavorful skin I've had. Every bite was juicy and almost melted in your mouth. The short rib was just as impressive, perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I've also done the tasting menu here before, and it was just as memorable. You definitely won't leave hungry. The restaurant has a great atmosphere too. It feels perfect for a date night without being so dim that you can barely see your food.

He knew about their location LV, but none of us had tried their original location in Chicago. So we drove into Chicago, arriving at the restaurant at 11 (it opens at 10am). There was a check-in stand set-up outside, where someone was taking names/phone numbers to put on the waiting list. We were quoted a 45 minute wait, and got the text to hurry back after about 30 minutes. There was a line to put your name down on the list, so we skipped that by going right in. The friendly hostess seated us in a booth, with a nice view of the kitchen where they were making the burgers in mass. The waitress explained that a single burger meant two patties (each patty is 4 oz, so basically a half pound burger), and a double meaning three. My brother and his son both ordered a double cheeseburger ($19.99 each), and I got a single with added sunny side up egg ($21.48). I wanted my wife to be able to take a bite, so asked for everything to be on the side (sauce, dill pickle slices, and grilled onion bits). We also ordered french fries ($8.99), cooked in duck fat. In the meanwhile, followed a fellow yelpers suggestion and got two Allagash Whites ($9 each) for me and my nephew. It's a really good beer that I've had many times during happy hour, and goes great with rich, greasy food. My wife got something else: the General Janes Chicken, which is their version of Korean Fried Chicken ($24.98). She enjoyed it (the coating was still crispy, and the sauce had that pronounced kochujang flavor that we like). Everything is a la carte here (except for the complementary pickle spear with burgers), so she shared in the ordered fries. Food came out together and was served hot. There is a mandatory 3.25% surcharge, and payment is taken at the table. As mentioned, service was excellent throughout. To be honest, I'm not the right person to judge a burger like this (I like it backyard style, with a lot of lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles...and mayo/ketchup). But my brother and nephew are (they have tried many, many burgers all across the world, and don't like too much toppings on their burger), and they said the burger was just OK for them. I liked the frites (cooked in duck fat)...very light in color, but still crispy on the outside. However, nobody else really ate them, saying they weren't great. It's unusual for me to be the least critical after dining, but I'm sure it had something to do with the observation that I didn't have to pay for it (since it was my brother's treat).

I had one of the best espresso martinis here and enjoyed sitting on their cozy couches while chatting to my friends. The atmosphere downstairs was really calm and relaxing. We started with a bunch of cocktails (I wish I remember the names.. but they were all so good!). Food to start, we ordered the Charcuterie, and the House Made Pretzel. We were obsessed with both! The charcuterie did not skimp out like some cheese/meat plates do.. it was a satisfying amount that we kept going back for more. The pretzel was outstanding, twisted and hot, perfectly soft and salty. To eat, I split the Gretel Griddle Burger and the Fried Chicken Sandwich with my friend because although we were there for the burger, I kept reading about the chicken sandwich being fantastic. Booyy they were not wrong!! As much as I loved the burger, the chicken sandwich was my favorite! Perfectly crispy, with this sweet and spicy glaze and the crunchy Asian pear slaw... OMG. I'm still dreaming about this! One thing we were excited about were the Elote Riblettes.. but I wouldn't order these again. I accidentally bit the whole thing and didn't realize they kept the core in, and I had to spit it out. And even after eating it properly it didn't feel like I got enough of it from those little bites. Loved the fries though! We didn't see a dessert menu but we would have definitely been interested in that. After all the drinks apps and the chicken sandwich I was feeling so full so I couldn't finish the burger so I got it wrapped to go. But let me tell you even when I reheated that burger the next day.. it was fantastic!! Overall we may have been the loudest and most obnoxious group (we get a bit excited haha) our waiter and the vibe were all matched! Genuinely loved this place, and looking forward to coming back soon.

First the service, now the host stand can be a little flat but I think they get so busy and it's so in demand they have to be stern but all the staff was amazing. I never needed a thing. They were so nice and checked on us constantly. The food... omg the fooddddd! Healthy portions! You could definitely share if you wanted to be more waist or budget friendly lol. My favorite had to be the shrimp and the steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and the au poivre was a great accompaniment. Dessert was also amazing. Healthy portions for sure shareable. I would definitely make that drove from Michigan to come back! Perfect start to my 30th birthday!!

The most hyped restaurant on the Internet for Chicago absolutely lives up to the hype…read more Reservations are posted 21 days in advance on Resy at 9am Central Standard Time. These reservations literally don't last 5 seconds. My sister and I were online trying to get reservations and luckily she was able to get 9pm. The best I could do on fastest finger was 10pm. When arriving at the restaurant it looks like a speakeasy inside. There is a hostess stand immediately to the right, and then another right. However, there is a second hostess that is standing in the doorway when you walk in with an iPad that can also check you in. After being checked in we waited about 10 minutes for our table to be ready. Once it was ready the hostess walked us through the restaurant all the way to the back, and then down the stairs into the parlor. It is super dark down there. So dark you are going to need your phone to see the menu and things around you. Shout out to our server Zane as he was a top tier A+ server! All of his recommendations from not ordering a full loaf of bread to steaks to sides were spot on. Up first was the worst item of the night, the $17.95 Mezcal Corpse Reviver cocktail. I wanted a cocktail with mezcal as I like the burnt smoky taste, but this one wasn't it. I really enjoyed my $14 Corazon Cocktail (Dirty Martini). They served it with the 3 blue cheese olives just how I like it. Up first, we had the $6.49 Hand-Made Sourdough bread. This was spot on perfect. We got the smaller order and it was plenty big enough for 2 people, unless you plan on ruining your dinner. Then, we got a $13.99 1/2 wedge salad. Perfectly made wedge salad. I got the $15.99 brussels sprouts and they were exquisite. If they were slightly more charred they would have been perfect. The taste, glaze, and toppings were perfect. I also got an order of the $15.99 button mushrooms. They were very very good as well. For the main course, I had the $89.99 bone in filet mignon. I am a tough steak critic, and this was one of the best steaks I've ever had anywhere. A little plain, and lightly salted, but it was a perfect juicy medium. For dessert we had the $15.99 carrot cake. I did not like this carrot cake as well as Flemings or J Alexanders, but it was certainly very good. The entire meal was over $350, but it was a dang good meal. This is clearly a restaurant you come to on a special occasion. The staff, the experience, and the food certainly were very special. If you want to spend a bunch of money on top tier food in Chicago, then this is your spot.
