Came here with a big group and got a lot of food to share! Good: - Nice upscale vibes and formal service - The paella here was huge - it wasn't anything super special but just was filling which helped at the end of our meal - The garlic shrimp was small but each one was so good - I liked the blood sausage! Can't say I've had that before anywhere else - but with the bread it tasted extra good - So much variety on their menu you can't go wrong! Bad: - A bit too dim inside - The food took a while to come out - Pricey overall Overall this place had some solid food choices, was very filling too!

Food was okay, not as authentic as I thought. Very disappointing. Ambiance and service was good. The gambe shrimp was very salty. The fried cod was good fresh and tender.

Came on a Saturday night. The ambiance was great for date night with low lighting and Spanish styled decor. They had a mix of table and lounge seating. Patatas Bravas - Perfectly pillowy potatoes with a spicy ketchup like sauce. This and the Spanish Ratatouille worked really well together. Brussel Sprouts - Blackened crispy brussel sprouts with a spicy romesco sauce. Looked burned due to the color but was not at all. Loved how seasoned these were. Artichoke Spinach Empanadas - So heavenly. Probably my favorite thing we got. The filling was seasoned and filled to perfection. The crust was crispy throughout as well. Loved that it came with 2 sizable empanadas. Spanish Ratatouille - This reminded me of shakshouka. It had rich tomato flavors with tons of veggies. The portion was pretty large and it came with 2 pieces of bread. Mushroom Tapa on Toast - Plenty of mushrooms in a sort of gravy sauce. I wish the bread was a tad more toasted but the mushroom topping was phenomenal. Mojito - Not your average mojito and it was for the better! They added a splash of pineapple juice to make it sweet and had just enough mint that you remembered you're drinking a mojito. Absolutely loved this one! The staff were beyond friendly and every single item we ordered was so so delicious! Absolutely loved Estragon. They had tons of vegetarian and vegan options too. Can't wait to come back!

Everyday reminds me of just how alike I am to Dory in Finding Nemo. I forget everything and mix and match the wrong terms to the wrong thing. So when I recommended this place to my friends to visit I kept calling it estrogen lmfao not really realizing what I was saying. Any, Estragon is a quiet spot that really would not have been on my radar if someone had not brought it up to me. Like many spots in the south end it has its own personality with comfy couches with fun patterns, colorful walls, cutesy decor and a random bookshelf with books that separates the two halves of the restaurant. It just felt like I was going to visit a friend. Our friendly and older server Isabel was so sweet and nice. She let us know about the specials for the night which all sounded delicious. Tell me why the mocktails were only a dollar different from the cocktails...... regardless it was good, not strong but very yummy. It was also national Mojito day but I ended up getting a Margarita but I needed one. It had been a rough week. My favorite thing was the paella which came with two different types and was so buttery and BIG. Seriously, the server gave us a warning before we ordered. We locked in and ate every piece of it... Potatoes and croqueta were a must since they are a staple for tapas. The churros were not the usual thick ones you see at carnivals but the thin ones shaped like pears with chocolate drizzled on top. Perfect way to end the night. Took a quick bathroom break after the meal and even the bathroom is a ball of fun. Another great gem nestled inside of the south end. Came for Dine Out Boston and we were happy we picked this place. For drinks, we got the hibiscus margarita, which was very delicious and strong. We basically got all the different options they gave (4 dishes - 1 starter, 2 main, and 1 dessert). Our favorite was the CARRILLADA (beef cheek). It was so soft and melt in your mouth. But everything we ate was delicious, just a lot to mention. And we added paella mixto as an addition to our experience, extremely filling and lots of flavor. Overall, it was an amazing experience, will go again when it's their regular menu.

Cool interior, decent food, yummy drinks. We came for Dine Out Boston and we left super full and satisfied. Though I wouldn't say this place serves the best tapas in town, I would say their menu options are quite unique! Personally loved the croquetas, skewers, and their bread. Their sangria was also yummy. Service was also really nice and attentive. They served the food at a good pace and frequently checked in on how we were doing (it wasn't overbearing). The only thing I would note is the price -- definitely on the pricy side but the portions are pretty decent!

Update 2022! We come here all the time!! The bartender that I previously mentioned has been gone for a few years now. Now we have Sahil who is literally amazing! I love seeing him every time we visit. Our go to items are still the same. Estragon has been super consistent over the years! Gambas Al Ajillo - Big shrimp! Perfectly garlicky Chuletillas de cordero - Love this and we order it every single time. The lamb is a perfect medium rare and the cauliflower mash is sooo good! We rotate through a few other things (patatas/croquettes) and will randomly try something new once in a while. We had the carrillada (braised pork cheeks) and it was a great portion as well as a nice change from our typical choices. We've also recently tried the xoxolata (chocolate mousse with olive oil). Omg to die for. Don't forget to mix the olive oil in BEFORE taking a bite.

I've been here a few times to celebrate various work occasions, but most recently I came here for Dine Out Boston with friends! I love Estragon because they have a pretty large menu and all of the food is truly amazing as it's super flavorful. My favorite dishes overall are the Tortilla Espanola, Garbanzos Fritos, Gambas al Ajillo and Croquetas de Jamón. During restaurant week, I decided to try different things here with my friends, specifically items that aren't on their usual menu. To start off, I got the hibiscus margarita. I didn't really like this drink in all honesty. I thought it was a bit too sour for my liking. In terms of food, I really liked their Salpicon de Mariscos, which was octopus, mussels, shrimp & squid dressed in Spanish vinaigrette. The seafood was very fresh and paired well with the vinaigrette. My friends and I also got the Gambas Al Ajillo, which is sauteed garlic shrimp. This is one of my all-time favorite dishes here. You can ask for extra bread to dip the olive oil/garlic sauce in and it's absolutely delicious. For dessert, I got their Crema Catalana, which is essentially like a creme brulee. This was really good as well, but not as creamy as I would have liked it. I enjoyed how it tasted though! I also tried their churros, which were a bit hard on the inside. I also wish they gave us more chocolate for the churros. My favorite dessert here is easily their Xocolata, which is a chocolate mousse. This is an olive oil mousse with some flakey salt that really brings out the richness of the chocolate. The mousse is also very smooth and a great way to end a meal here. Overall, when I was working around here, it was a nice place to grab a meal with coworkers after work. The vibes and atmosphere of the place are very chill and cozy. However, parking is fairly difficult around here. It is all metered street parking and it is near Boston Medical Center. I really like Estragon, but some of their dishes are on the pricier end.

We ordered several dishes in part to have a basis to review. Here's what we found. Service and atmosphere: very good, though location is in a bit of a desolate part of the south end if I'm honest Drinks: solid A: both the frida kahlo and gimlet were excellent Really really good: Patatas bravas Alcachofas (fried artichokes) Shishitos Good: Gambas (shrimp with garlic) Ok: Fried chick peas (sort of a bar snack, not bad if you set your expectations appropriately) Not good: cod bacaloa Tasted a bit rubbery and fishy, they comped that dish Overall we're comparing this to Barcelona and Toro, both of which are better, but on the other hand Estragon is an easier reservation.

Loved it. I ate here relatively early so it was empty at first. But it got really busy, really quickly . The restaurant is on the smaller side but cute. The food was amazing! Chorizo, empanadas, homestyle potato's, chicken skewers, garlic shrimp, braised beef, croquettes, lamb, etc etc. I've had Spanish tapas before and this place really reminded me why I loved them so much. The depth! The flavor! New breeding of spices and flavors that was so pleasing to the palette. I had to ask for extra bread to dunk that bad boy into the sauces and scrape what's left. My favorite was the chorizo. So delicate and yet so bold. My least favorite was the garlic shrimp. Overall a beautiful experience.

So delicious (the toasts are a must try!! You get to chose 4 flavors), and the service was amazing. Our waitress was incredibly kind and made us feel very comfortable. The inside aesthetic was also very cool & swanky. Would absolutely go back again!!

This is a great place to come with a group of friends and try a bunch of delicious different tapas! I LOVED the chicken skewers and the salmon empanada. My friends and I came during dine-out Boston restaurant week and it was a great deal for the food we got. The desserts also were all so delicious. I think we got all the protein / carb heavy options when we came to make the most of the dine-out menu so it felt very heavy but there definitely were lots of vegetable options.

I came here during Dine Out Boston. I had a reservation on a Friday night and was seated within minutes. It was pretty loud, so it was hard to have a conversation even with the waiter. The service was good, and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. We did miss one order and got a different dish given how busy it was. Bienmesabe (crispy adobo fish): 4/5 - pretty good but could've used a sauce Croquetas De Jamon: 4/5 - tasty but was a tad salty Alcachofas (artichokes): 5/5 Patatas Bravas: 3/5 - wasn't anything special, just fried potatoes with a neutral-tasting sauce Gambas Al Ajillo (garlic shrimp): 2/5 - no garlic flavor, tasted like boiled shrimp with oil Lamburguesitas: 3/5 - nothing special, tasted too gamey for me Chicharron: 5/5 - crispy and wasn't too salty, tasted better with the sauce Carrillada (beef shank): 2/5 - underwhelming and there was a weird flavor in the meat Xocolata (choco mousse): 5/5 - light and fluffy, very chocolatey and the olive oil wasn't too off-putting Churros: 4/5 - not too sweet and looked homemade I was excited to try this place given the amount of good reviews, but my experience was just okay. None of the tapas really amazed me. I'm not sure if it's because it was during Dine Out Boston or it was later at night, but I probably wouldn't come back again.

We walked into a warm, energetic space with dim lighting, an open dining room, and a constant buzz that makes it a great choice for a night out with friends or a date. The restaurant has a vibrant, social energy that encourages sharing and exploration, and the open layout adds to the sense of activity without feeling chaotic. Rather than ordering individual entrées, the experience is centered around sharing a variety of dishes, making each visit feel a little different depending on what you choose. The tapas are the highlight of the menu, with plenty of options that encourage trying a little bit of everything. The bacon-wrapped dates are one of the signature dishes, balancing sweet and savory flavors, while the patatas bravas, croquettes, and charcuterie boards are reliable choices to start the meal. If you are looking for something more substantial, the seafood paella and squid ink pasta stand out as excellent main dishes, offering rich flavors and generous portions that are easy to split between two or more people. The olive oil cake is also worth saving room for if you want to end the meal with dessert, and the overall progression of the meal works well with the tapas format. The drink menu is just as impressive as the food. Wine is the main focus, with an extensive list featuring Spanish and international selections, but the sangria and cocktails are equally popular. It is the kind of place where you can easily spend a couple of hours sharing plates while working your way through a few different drinks, and the beverage program is thoughtfully curated to match the style of the food. Service is one of the restaurant's strongest points. The staff are knowledgeable about both the menu and wine list, and dishes arrive steadily throughout the meal instead of all at once, creating a relaxed dining pace. The pacing allowed us to enjoy each dish without feeling rushed, and the team checked in at the right moments without hovering. The restaurant is consistently busy, especially on weekends, so reservations are highly recommended. Even with a reservation, there can occasionally be a short wait, and the lively atmosphere means the dining room can get quite loud during peak hours. The energy of the room is part of what makes the experience work, but it is worth keeping in mind if you are looking for a quieter dinner. Barcelona Wine Bar is one of the best places in Boston for Spanish-inspired tapas and wine. The combination of flavorful shareable dishes, a well-curated drink menu, attentive service, and vibrant atmosphere makes it an easy choice for group dinners, celebrations, or date nights. It offers a meal that feels both communal and polished, with a setting that encourages slowing down and enjoying the evening. Just be prepared for the energetic environment and plan ahead if you are visiting during the busiest times.

Beautiful Space, Catastrophic Execution…read more I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in years. We visited Boqueria Boston on Father's Day and arrived to find the restaurant nearly empty. Despite that, the experience started poorly when the host refused to accommodate a simple request to sit near a TV so we could watch the FIFA match. After being seated, it took roughly 20 minutes just to be acknowledged. We ordered two bottled beers, a bottle of still water, and tap water. The tap water arrived within minutes, but the beers and bottled water took another 10+ minutes. The beers were served without glasses, and the bottled water was simply dropped on the table without being served. When ordering, we were informed that at least five menu items were unavailable, including the seafood paella we had specifically come to try. The explanation was that they were out of clams and mussels. After insisting they check with the kitchen, we were told they could prepare it without the clams, so we agreed. The pacing of the meal was baffling. Pimientos de Padrón arrived after about 15 minutes, but then another 20-25 minutes passed before the cheese board and salad appeared. The quality was disappointing throughout. The goat cheese tasted like a bulk food-service product, and the pan con tomate was overwhelmed by raw garlic. The gambas took roughly 45 minutes to arrive and came with only three tiny pieces of bread. We immediately ordered additional grilled bread and waited another 20 minutes for that. Throughout the meal, every inquiry about the delays was met with excuses, despite the restaurant being mostly empty and fully staffed. After waiting more than an hour for the paella, I finally requested the check. Miraculously, the paella appeared moments later. Unfortunately, it wasn't worth the wait. It was bland, lacked any depth of flavor, and was among the most forgettable paellas I've ever had. To make matters worse, no fresh plates or utensils were provided for the main course. Service remained consistently poor. Water glasses were never refilled. Different servers randomly dropped off dishes, yet nobody seemed interested in clearing empty plates. We eventually started stacking dirty dishes on a neighboring table ourselves before someone finally removed them. Our primary server informed us she was going on break and essentially disappeared for the remainder of the meal, only reappearing when it was time to present the check. The only employee who showed any accountability was an older gentleman who eventually stepped in, acknowledged the problems, and provided a 50% discount after realizing part of our order had never been rung in. While appreciated, the gesture came far too late to salvage the experience. Beyond the service issues, the operational details were concerning. The open kitchen made it easy to observe staff working without hairnets or hats, and employees were constantly entering and exiting the same restrooms used by guests, often carrying backpacks and personal belongings through the dining room. What makes this especially disappointing is that I've had much better experiences at Boqueria locations in New York. However, this visit reinforced what feels like a steady decline in the brand. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The concept is strong. The location is excellent. Unfortunately, the management and training appear to be severely lacking. With so many outstanding dining options in Boston's Seaport, I cannot recommend this location. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.

Come Mother's Day and I am not a fan of going out on the actual day, but I did remember this place. We made a Saturday reservation, picked up my son from work, and headed over here. SO WORTH IT! I thought the spot was adorable and clearly well loved by locals and their own staff. You really get the feeling that all that work there really love the place. I like the menu items are not the "usual suspects" I see at most Tapas places, which are good but sometimes you want to shake things up. I think my favorite was the Croquetas De Jamon, if I had to choose just one item. We also decided to get two desserts - a pear dessert which seems to be their signature dish and the chocolate tort. While the pear was lovely, I was really in the mood for something chocolate so I enjoyed it more (but honestly cannot go wrong with either).

The sangria is so refreshing with fresh fruit tasting like they just picked it themselves. The lovely bartender, Astrit, informed me the grapes are Grenache from Spain , which have a dryer, robust flavor compared to the sweeter red sangrias that make you regret your decisions the next morning and tastes better in my opinion. I'm usually more of a beer guy but this slaps! I've also had the white before and that also hits the Richter scale. Last but surely not least, the garlic chicken (pollo al Ajillo) is the best chicken I've ever had, hand to God. Spiced with everything nice and delicious oil and garlic that you deserve. The chicken anticuchos were great--highly recommend them for anyone who doesn't like gamey meats. I'm Peruvian, and at first I thought the menu might not look Peruvian enough. After dining here, I realized it's not just Peruvian--it's packed with bold flavors and thoughtfully explores Central American influences, which made it a greatly surprising experience. The restaurant wasn't full, so we had no wait at all. Service was great and the atmosphere was fantastic. And the churros--wow! You have to get them. So simple, yet so good. Not sure why this place isn't busier--highly recommend!

We had a few oysters, which were small but very fresh and on the sweeter side. I usually prefer briny ones, but these were very tasty. The tuna ceviche was perfect. The chicken tacos were also juicy and delicious, and the calamari were very nicely flavored and crisp, and come with a mildly spicy sauce. I will definitely be back soon.

The decor is industrial with the stone, metal and wood, earth tones, very modern and yet feels cozy and warm with the combination of the colors, lighting and art. Great atmosphere for an elegant and elevated experience. We had the side room space which is really great for having a small to medium sized gathering of easily up to 50 people or so. There's ample seating at round tables and also a couple high tables to stand at. A long bar where all the food is served buffet style. There are restrooms just down the hall too so very convenient. There's cool wall art murals which make for a great backdrop and very artsy!! The food was really good too - charcuterie meats, cheese, fruit, meatballs, olives, eggplant caponata, hummus and crackers. The staff were friendly and were there to help with any questions and were happy to take our photos too. Overall a great time was had by all!

Our server Catherine was the best. My first time here, she helped me navigate the menu and wine list. She was very attentive and friendly. FOOD: Outstanding! I tried several tapas options and I enjoyed every single one. My favorite was the lemon hummus - YUM! But the olives, patatas bravas, and hamachi crudo were pretty darn tasty! High recommend for this place - I was surprised to find out it was part of a chain, but it feels like its own local restaurant.
