    Speciality Latte

My husband surprised me with a trip to this cute little coffee shop on our last morning in Cary. Esteamed Coffee is located in the quaint downtown area of Cary, whose mission is, "to lower the unemployment rate and increase the quality of life for adults with intellectual, developmental, communication, and/or visual disabilities by creating meaningful jobs and social opportunities in a warm, supportive environment." That alone would have been enough for me to give this place a 5 star review, but after trying their coffee and experiencing the service, I wish I could give them 10 stars. My husband and I each tried a latte off of their Summer Menu and were very impressed. We will definitely be back on our next trip to NC!

Great location in the heart of downtown Cary. The inside and outside of the cafe is super cute and super clean. The staff was very welcoming, helpful and friendly. There is plenty of seats to enjoy your cafe drinks and pastries. There are clean bathrooms available, inside and outside seating, and merch! We were there on a Sunday in the fall so we decided to try their fall specials. Wow! Delicious! We will definitely be back.

Such a cute and quaint experience! The energy in this coffee shop is super sweet and gentle. The coffee is delicious and the hot chocolate superb! Definitely recommend to support local shops to create an experience for your soul.

How could you give Esteamed any less than 5 stars? The coffee is delicious, the staff is friendly, the place is cute as could be, and the location is excellent. Top tier coffee shop!

Bottom line: Esteamed Coffee is a charming, clean, and inviting coffee shop, that as their website explains is "Coffee For A Cause" and it's wonderful. Delicious latte and a positive experience all around has me giving them all 5 stars. What a great find! The Deets: I was around the old downtown Cary area (I say old but it's been renewed lately with all the new businesses), and came across Esteamed Coffee. A cute little place both inside and out, I walked into a very bright, clean, nice coffee shop. Their webpage states they are "Coffee For A Cause" and the sign near the register states "Who We Are" and it's wonderful..."Esteamed Coffee is a 501(c)(3) non-profit whose mission is to lower the 70% unemployment rate for the people with special needs and/or disabilities" it said. Excellent. My baristas that greeted me were happy and eager to help me, answered my questions, and took my order. That latte I had tasted delicious and I enjoyed not only my beverage itself but the shop with its art and its positive atmosphere on a gloomy gray day. My latte was one of the best I've had in recent memory. I am so happy I walked by and saw Esteamed Coffee and tried them out...I give them all the stars!

This was my first time going to Esteamed Coffee. The location is perfect, the people are lovely, the inside of the shop is pretty and cozy, and my Pumpkin Spice Latte was outstanding! I love my new mug and especially my beautiful new Christmas cards designed by DJ Svoboda. I will most certainly be back! Thank you all!

Carol's Kitchen kept coming up as one of the better options in the area, so I made the detour. What I didn't expect was that "tucked away" would mean tucked into a commercial business building, the kind of place you'd expect to find an insurance adjuster's waiting room, not lunch. Walking in, the only other person there was someone waiting on a to-go order. My first thought was that I'd made a mistake. The space felt sterile, stale, more office park than kitchen. I was wrong. Minutes from closing and not planning to come back through town, I asked the counter what people order. Buffalo chicken wrap, they said. I added a kolache -- they had an everything bacon version that caught my eye -- and a side of bacon potato salad. The order came out in brown to-go containers, and I walked back to the car bracing for disappointment. The kolache was a revelation. I'm not a connoisseur, I couldn't grade one against the platonic ideal, but if this is what they can be, then kolaches deserve a much wider audience. That pastry alone is reason enough to come back. The buffalo chicken wrap was right behind it: hearty, full flavored, well-balanced, in a tortilla with just enough toast to give it some structure. The potato salad looked, at first, like it was skimping on quantity, barely more than a dallop, but by the time I'd worked through the kolache and half of the wrap, I was full and grateful that half the wrap was still in the bag for later. My only real regret is that the leftovers won't taste the same when they're not at temperature. 4.6 stars, what not a solid five you ask? Here's where Carol's Kitchen breaks my brain a little. The food is warm, charming, careful -- the kind of meal that wants to be eaten slowly, at a table, with a conversation going. It's a country welcome. But the room is the opposite of that. It's a 30 Rock situation: Kenneth Parcell got dropped into a corporate office building and started cooking lunch for the suits. The food keeps trying to invite you to stay; the building keeps trying to push you back out to your car. The two are wildly out of sync. Service was on par with what you'd expect from a grab-and-go counter, helpful, not warm, doing the job. Nothing to complain about, but nothing matching what the food is reaching for, either. What I keep coming back to is that Carol's Kitchen deserves a different room. A table-service space with a slower pace, somewhere a community could build around what this kitchen is putting out. As it stands, the concept of the spot and the concept of the food are at odds, and the food is the one losing the argument. Still, if someone suggested going back later the same day, I wouldn't hesitate. I'd just be sad about the room again.

Upon arrival, our order was ready to go by its estimated time. Think simple, homemade food, but made with love. Today, my partner and I shared the tuna and chicken salad sandwiches, the sandwiches come with a side. He had a kale salad and I had the bag of chips. The sandwiches are definitely gourmet level, the bread and garnishes are all fresh and thoughtfully put together. For dessert, we got a brown butter rice crispy treat, which was absolutely massive and larger than my hand and two chocolate chip cookies. Everything was delicious and lived up to my high hopes. I'm excited to return and to try the other items from the menu.

Animall seems to have guinea pigs and cats available for adoption all the time, and then at certain times, dogs and rabbits. There's a store cat that hangs out by the register ignoring people as they pay for their goodies. The rabbits and guinea pigs don't seem to last long, as there's usually an "adoption pending" sign within a short time. The big open space near the front of the store, during adoption events, usually has a large open top cage for the dogs. Like Kristen said in her review, there's a lot of space here, and not a lot of product. But, what they do carry, at least in the non-food items, is a little different than what you'll find in the big box stores. The mugs and picture frames, for example, are adorable. If you're in the mall, this is a place worth visiting to pick up a small toy for your four-legged friend or a gift for yourself. And if you don't have a furry friend, you can adopt one here. Animall makes it easy to shop, find a furry friend, and stock the house with the required pet accoutrement. And if you don't want to adopt, it's nice knowing the proceeds from any sale here goes to various pet shelters in the area.

But this place is quite expansive with several areas including wildlife, butterfly and insect garden, a train tour that takes 2 laps around (might as well get it for the $6 a ticket), and several outdoor play areas including a tree house and mist/water areas. Place was crowded, but there were still plenty of spaces available at 10:30 in the garage. If I lived closer, I might consider a membership to save costs, but I live too far currently to justify that. The cafe food was mid, and again too expensive. The pricing for me knocks a star off, but if you've never been and are prepared to spend a couple hundred bucks for the day on a family of 4, you'll probably enjoy!
