Hoffman Car Wash - Cars awaiting wash

Hoffman Car Wash

(10 reviews)

Having been in Albany (well, yesterday) for some hopeful Uber and Lyft rides with my car, after…read morecoming back to my east side of the Hudson River, I came upon this Hoffman Car Wash. I remember screaming "Ooh, that looks neat" with all the wires and hoses all hung neatly. It was daytime and I had had my Hoffman Car Wash multi-use card on me, and felt like trying it out. I saw several manual bays as well as what looked to be like several non-touch non-ride through bays that would have a car cleaned well. However, my time here turned more ugly as I got through the payment-initiation line and proceeded around what I thought was going to be into a second line (I was in the right hand lane). However, as I came around the bend, I noticed the employees at the service bay motioning me from the other lane into their bay terminal helping me get into line with the ground-level lane-holder. Yes, they began spraying my car for the undercarriage wash, but after trying to adjust to suit their styling, I got confused on what gear to select on my CVT (09 Sentra). But I surely didn't see a sign. Much later I had remembered that these types of washes tend to run in Neutral but I kept switching into the wrong gear. Somehow, those employees at the podium knew exactly what gear I was in but I hadn't remembered how these worked. They screamed at me when I kept switching, and even when they could tell that my foot was on the brake pedal (give me some slack peeps because I need a second to focus on what needs to be complete for the wash to work). After a brief wash that seemed not to be too touch-free (with rather painful brushes from the sides and top), but those other brushes just as you entered the wash were less painful and I didn't mind. I didn't really like that the undercarriage wasn't done real well (or as well as my local Hoffman does), but I'll take what I got. I'm amazed at the quality of the wash, much later. After heading into a McDonalds a little closer to my home location in Hudson, I came out and really felt like I couldn't spot my car. It seemed like my car was newer than it really was, thanks tot he spotlessness of the wash, but you could tell that the back wasn't washed too well. I could see streaky-stains coming out from the trunk door and running down the body near the license plate - something I don't like seeing. My local Hoffman Car Wash - which doesn't have this style wash - can get my car washed well, without the pain and agony brushes and without causing streakiness near the trunk. When's the next time that you can say the same here? Also, can you please put a sign prior to entry on entry rules. Also, please get rid of the extra lane markings (traffic cones around back) if everyone is going to be filtered into the machine lanes. Obviously a little more care and vigilance to watch for those who were waiting for non-machine done lanes would be necessary. They were vary confusing to say the least. I liked that this place was upkept, and there wasn't much problems in lines. It could have been better done had there not been a pickup truck in back of me today - something that felt too close for comfort in positioning once my back was able to show me what happened from the car in back of me when I entered car drier. I just wish I could have had more chance to check this place out at night - something that would have looked gorgeous I hoped. Before I leave, please also make sure that readers know not to turn onto the street just to this place's south. There doesn't seem to be an entrance there and with multiple lanes coming from both directions - safety felt vital into turning into the correct entry. I'm sorry if nothing can be done about this, but heads up readers!

Hoffman's hosted another nonperishable food drive at its car washes over the weekend. With the…read moregovernment shutdown and the threat of the SNAP ( food stamps) program coming to a halt for November, the need for food donations has taken on a greater sense of urgency. Hoffman's has annual food drives but I've never paid much attention before. This time, I showed up. I brought canned goods and got a car wash in return for free. It's a nice event. A win-win for all involved.
