I really like the Ess-a-bagel in midtown and was a little disappointed by the quality of this one in comparison. The menu is smaller which is understandable but unfortunately I thought the quality of the bagels were not as good as the midtown location either. The Time Out Market is very nice to look at view of the city and Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges though so i recommend checking out the market. Just don't expect the same quality of bagel as at the midtown location. read more

Realistically I would give this location 3.5 stars. It wasn't amazing and it wasn't bad. It was good so I'm going to lean towards the 3 star side. We had their signature bagel on everything. I had a few bagels during my NYC visit. This was in the middle and the score says so too. The service was fine. The market is amazing with so many options. At the end of the day you'll probably wish you had gotten food from another place after making your choice. Since Yelp BFF and I decided to make an early morning trip out to Brooklyn for Dumbo, this was the perfect place to grab breakfast. I seriously don't know what is in the NY water, but the bagels are out of this world! It's so crispy on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside. We ordered a BLTA (bacon, lettuce, tomato and avocado) on an everything bagel to share. The bagel was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the veggies were fresh. I think my expectations were set too high because I was told that they blow Goldberg's bagels out of the water. This was not my experience. Oh man, I was so pumped to find this bagel place after hearing about it on Tik Tok. I was fully prepared to see a long line but this location is inside of an enclosed street market and I went right when it opened, so there was only like one or two people around. I ordered an everything bagel with cream cheese because I wanted a good NY bagel while visiting and Ess-A-Bagel delivered! I have my wife with me, I could have drove to Russ & Daughters for a quality bagel but I want to sit and sip some hot coffee and enjoy breakfast. Ess-a-bagel Brooklyn here we come. It's early in the morning and I find a parking spot close to the market, yay! We place our order for the Signature Favorite bagel. I asked for the bagel to be toasted and watched them create the signature which is stuffed with Nova Lox, Scallion Cream Cheese, Crispy Bacon, Avocado, Red Onion, Capers, Lettuce and Tomato. When I ordered, my wife said no to Bacon, Avocado and Red Onions thankyouverymuch. This is the Time Out market, there are communal tables for everyone to sit and enjoy their purchases. The toast on the bagel wasn't toasted at all and the bagel was a little doughy for my personal taste. But all is forgiven when they added the Nova Lox, Scallion Cream Cheese and Capers. Capers?! Beware: Cashier Katherine was rude. And they messed up our order. I just ordered a plain strawberry cream cheese bagel and breakfast bagel, when I asked for some cream cheese on the breakfast bagel she charged me $4 for a quarter pound of cream cheese. They gave a buzzer to pick up the order but never rang it, so after 10 minutes of waiting I decided to check on my order and found it waiting on the counter. The lox bagel itself was ok. It had too much cream cheese and was overly salty. That being said, it's hard to go wrong with a lox bagel so overall it still a solid lox bagel if you're in the mood for one. The restaurant stall area itself is fine. It is in the middle of the Time Out Market so there are a lot people, but we managed to find a table nearby. We went to TimeOut Market and thought this was the perfect time to have an NY bagel since I had not had one on my trip. I've heard Ess-a-Bagel is good and I was impressed. Ess-a-bagel are my favorite bagels in the city! But this location really doesn't do it justice. I usually love their dense, chewy bagels. The freshness, the warm chew, the schmear... I ordered a cinnamon raisin with scallion cream cheese and bacon. Plus 2 uncut bagels to bring home. This was $13, which is fine, but when I got home they had forgot the bacon in my sando. The cinnamon raisin was good, with a really generous amount of schmear as usual. The uncut everything bagel was very under done in the middle. As a long time Ess a bagel client, I can say this bagel was almost raw in the middle compared to what I'm used to. I toasted the bagel at home for almost 15min to get the dough to a point of being edible. I'm a little bummed because I was so excited to have an Ess a bagel close by. If you are in Dumbo, this is a great place to be with the other stalls such as the Clinton St Baking Company. It is a great place to hang out after work or meet up with others. It will give other people in your group a choice of what to eat. Now if you are looking for the old school Ess-a-Bagel this is not the local brink and morter. I didn't know that, but it gave me a chance to walk around Dumbo. We were able to walk to Waters and Washington to take a picture on the famous street with the Manhattan bridge. I've eaten at Ess-a-Bagel's Midtown East location in the past and enjoyed it, so when I saw their stall in Time Out Market New York, I decided to go there instead of checking out the other vendors serving breakfast. My bagel was fine - it was edible - but it wasn't the same as I remembered. Something tells me my experience was the product of food court limitations, rather than an indication of a decline in quality. For example, I was there relatively early in the morning, about an hour after they opened, and the selection was...sad. There couldn't have been more than five types available on display. I wouldn't go so far as to say my food was stale, but it definitely wasn't hot and fresh out of the oven. Granted, they probably don't make as many bagels due to space constraints, but I would have expected that more if I had gone near the end of the day, as opposed to the morning hours. I'd still visit the actual Ess-a-Bagel store if I'm in the mood for a bagel, but I don't think I'll order from them in Time Out Market again. read more

When my friend and I went back to ask the staff if we could exchange the drink for something else at the store they would not allow us to and insisted this is how it is. In return we informed the staff we understand how it is made but want to exchange our drink for something else.
