I think I encountered the friendliest people in all of NYC at Ark Bagels! From the smiling young woman who told me to just hit "skip" when the tip option popped up on the credit card reader to the amazing guy who made my pastrami lox bagel, everything was great! The cost of the bagel included a complimentary drink! I often leave a tip without a second thought, mostly because it's just customary. Talk about a disappointment. Did a Surprise Bag from Too Good To Go and the bagels were literally square. Aside from the weird looks, they were also unbelievably dense and tasted like a bad Kaiser roll--think as far from a bagel as possible. Saturday morning, I woke up exhausted from a busy week and decided to treat myself to breakfast and order food delivery from ARK Bagels. I ordered an egg-and-cheddar cheese breakfast sandwich, avocado toast with fresh mozzarella, and a latte. The latte was the only thing they got right. The breakfast sandwich came with fatty bacon, which I didn't order, and no cheddar cheese. The avocado toast was nasty-looking. It was sliced avocado and sliced cheese, not fresh little balls of mozzarella as described, nor was the avocado smashed as pictured and described on their menu. I attached photos of the avocado toast pictured from ARK's menu, along with the description, and what I received. The avocado toast I received looks like the food served at The Fyre Festival; maybe ARK Bagels was their official caterer. read more

Wow! Love the bagels!! The cream cheese is home made and delicious. Got the ARC Classic Bagel which was excellent! Their coffee is good too. They have many other sandwich optiona thoughout the say. They also have omelette and other breakfast sandwiches. Service is cheerful and friendly. The sitting area is comfortable and relaxed. While I was waiting on the smoothie I was looking at the pastries such as the muffins however there was a lot of flies going in and out of the display case. Anytime I see a bagel shop I usually go in and see what it's about. I love a good bagel. I stopped here for breakfast and ordered a toasted egg bagel with bacon egg and cheese. I topped it with red onions! The bagel was very good and made fresh! They have alot of bagels here from what I see. As soon as you walk in they have a display of encased bagels where you go and place your order at. the display says it all. The service was fast and friendly. I enjoyed my bagel and off to work I went. I recommend coming by getting one of there bagels or maybe a dozen!. read more

These are not real bagels. They don't even look like real bagels. And they definitely don't taste like them.

Got a bagel with salmon, plain cream cheese, tomato, onions, and capers. They called this the Chelsea Special, which I guess is a custom bagel order, which they charged ~$15 for (wasn't really made clear on their menu). The bagel was soft and fresh. They put a lot of cream cheese though, but overall it was delicious and very filling. I don't eat a lot of bagels, so I don't know how this place compares to other bagel shops, but I would return. They have a lot of types of cream cheeses (both sweet and savory) and bagel bread options (seasame, cinnamon, pumpernickel, etc.). People are also friendly and professional and service is quick. read more

This bagel shop is across from google and right by chelsea market. It is in a prime spot area. It is decorated pretty cute for having the name ark in its name. It is a pretty big space for a bagel shop. When I went inside I saw a kiosk to order as no one told me to go to the counter to order. So when I places my order and the guy got my receipt he asked me what kind of bagel I wanted. Guess I forgot to click on it. Would have been easier just to order at the counter. The bagel itself was just ok. I got a sesame bagel with scallion creamcheese. To me the cream cheese was tasteless. This place does have a rating of Grade pending but when you look it up online it says B. The staff was ok. I did see one of them give a young child a colorful bagel as the kid was eyeing it and dragged the parent into the store. The staff was nice enough to give the bagel to the child free of charge. Damn, We felt like kids in a candy store when we walked inside ARK Bagels. So many bagels, and so many cakes, and other sweets. I had never experienced this in my life. We got the bagels we wanted. Staffs are just rude here. I ordered a bagel with extra cream cheese. They are very skimpy with the cream cheese. I asked nicely if they can put a little more. The lady rushes over from the cashier and yells out "THAN JUST PAY FOR IT". Rolled her stupid eyes at me. Meanwhile I already paid at the kiosk. I've gone to this place for the absolute last time. To preface: I rarely, if ever, leave negative reviews for any restaurant or store I go to - I know how much it can damage a business, and I avoid it whenever possible. But after today's experience, I really feel like I have no choice. I have been going to ARK Bagels since they opened - I work right down the block and made a habit of frequenting the place at least once or twice a week. I'll start with the okay - the bagels are fine. They aren't the best bagels I've ever had, but they're average and do the job better than any other place in the immediate area. The prices are what you'd expect for 8th ave in Chelsea. In the beginning, everyone who worked there seemed efficient and cordial - one cashier in particular, was always very nice and I'd leave feeling good. As time went on though, and more hires came in, suddenly the front end of the shop took a nose dive. One cashier consistently screws up or mishears orders - and, when you correct her, she gives you an eyeroll and an attitude about it, like you're the one who said the wrong thing. Maybe if she wasn't on her phone all the time, she'd hear things better, but who am I to judge. I understand that working the front end of a bagel shop is not everyone's dream. Every time I'd get this cashier (as opposed to the other, nicer one), I'd leave feeling annoyed or upset - not really the way I wanted to start my day before work. Fine, whatever. Mediocre customer service is nothing new in this town, and nothing had really boiled over in a way that felt out of line. Today, I walk in, get my bagel and coffee, and I see a new face at the register. This person seems fine, maybe a little carefree, who knows. I go to take a sip of my coffee, and suddenly, nothing is reaching my mouth. I hear another customer say to me "oh no look out!" and suddenly i feel super hot coffee spilling all over the bottom of my face and all over my chest. I go to the register and tell the girl that next time she should check to see if the top is actually ON my coffee; she says she's sorry and then quickly walks away, unwilling to deal with me. So I'm standing there, drenched in coffee, no one is offering me anything: not a refund, not a free item, not even a refill on the coffee that is now half-spilled all over me and their floors. They don't even offer me a new top for my coffee! Finally, the one nice cashier gives me some napkins, but by this point, I'm feeling pretty (literally) left out to dry. I understand a bagel shop is not a Michelin Star experience, and I know it's a business with the mindset of cheap production, high ROI. This doesn't mean the customer service has to be total garbage. I don't need people pampering me when I get a bagel and coffee, but I expect, at the very least, to be treated with human decency. I thank GOD I asked for milk in my coffee, or else I'm sure I would have second or third degree burns all over my face and chest right now and I'd be in a hospital, instead of at work with a shirt drenched in coffee. And these people should also be thanking god, because this is the kind of event that puts people out of business from lawsuits. read more

I think this place has standard deli food that tends to be mediocre at best. I ordered an ultimately disappointing bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll that cost something like $10 (?!). The egg and cheese were fine but the bacon was incredibly old and stringy and the roll was pretty meh. The flat bagels are more like vaguely bagel-shaped bread than proper bagels. For comparison: I was wandering around at 8am when I happened to stop by Westside Market on 15th Street and 7th Ave. I ordered a BEC for $6 and at checkout the cashier let me know that it comes with a free coffee (!!). The food was nothing to write home about but pretty solid. Definitely better and more bang for your buck than Ark, at least when it comes to breakfast sandwiches. read more

I ordered a bacon egg and cheese. Idk what this is. Maybe beef bacon? I don't eat beef. It didn't look or taste like any regular bacon I've had before, it simultaneously soggy and chewy.
