When in New York, you have to get a bagel! The exterior was under construction (welcome to New York!) but when we walked in the interior was bright and clean. We were warmly greeted and set out on the impossible task of picking which bagel/cream cheese combination to buy. We didn't realize we were in the wrong line for a minute. Apparently we were waiting in the pick up line not the order line... Whoops! ‍‍ So we headed to the back, to the correct/order line and placed our order. Our bagels & cream cheese came out so fast and we would've inhaled them immediately but I had to take a few pictures first. I had seen the viral rainbow bagels all over social media... But when we got to this location, we just weren't feeling a vanilla flavored sweet bagel. We ended up getting the liberty bagel (red, white and blue, but unflavored), a garlic bagel, and a salted bagel. They were so soft and so yummy... But huge! We ended up taking one with us for the rest of the day and snacked on it when we got hungry! There really is something so delicious about a New York bagel! read more

Long line when you walk in. However, line moves pretty fast. The girl at the register wasn't friendly nor told me that some bagels were premium and costs more till I was paying. It was not in the poster by the register. It's a narrow aisle. So order and move towards the exit. You'll have to pick up by the door anyway. The bagels were big and good. You go all the way to the back to order then pick up your bagels with just cream cheeses at the front and the bagels with some kind of grilled ingredients in the back next to where you ordered. When youre looking for a great bagel place while in NYC, take a moment to consider coming here. Most known for their Liberty bagels, and It was not as packed as I thought it would be. When inside, you are greeted by a WALL of bagels and their window of cream cheese options. Once you order, go back to the cream cheese window, wait for your order, or go and take a photo at the bagel wall! The bagels are THCCCC and chewy, and they slap a huge amount of cream cheese. The flavor will taste different to everyone because the combinations are endless, but the undertone of the actual cream cheese it really cheesy. Not your Philadelphia cream cheese, its more salty and has an umami taste. The store itself is packed with things all over the walls with menu items and things to look at. It can be almost overwhelming so, take some time before had to pick out what you want to order, so that you're in and out of line quickly. The cashiers are QUICK!! I would love to come and try all of their cream cheese options, because they have so many interesting flavors and I was sad that I coundnt grab more. When in NYC, why not bring home some bagels and cream cheese! My friend and I came right when they opened, so they were well stocked! Upon entering, you can see all their bagel and cream cheese options on the left side. When you are ready to order, you head straight to the back counter. Pick up will be the front counter you first saw up of entering. I ordered a dozen assorted bagels - egg bagel + everything version, pumpernickel bagel + everything version, and whole wheat everything bagels. I didn't ask for them cut, so they would last longer during my travels. My favorites were the egg bagels (I have never seen this in my area and I read not many places still make them) and the pumpernickel bagels, but all were good! In addition, I ordered small containers of the strawberry (made with actual strawberries), blueberry (made with actual blueberries), and lox scallion cream cheeses. My absolute favorite was the lox scallion cream cheese, followed by the strawberry (like a strawberry ice cream flavor). It was a bit harder for me to taste the blueberry. This place had a lot of interesting flavor combinations for the cream cheeses and I wouldn't mind coming back to try some others. We also ordered a rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream cheese to share. They definitely lay on the cream cheese real thick which I appreciate, especially given the price of a bagel with cream cheese. It tasted exactly what you would think it would taste, a pretty bagel with a sweet cream cheese. They mixed the sprinkles in very well though. They packaged the bagels in a paper bag, so I would suggest bringing your own for additional support. I do wish that they separated the everything bagels from the non-everything bagels be causing the seasoning stuck everywhere. Smelled so good though! There's no bulk discount for buying the bagels though (e.g. single versus half dozen versus dozen), so order as much or as little as you want! I baked at the price of a small container of cream cheese - think tall take out sauce container. However, they were good and definitely worth a try. It varies by preferences, but a small container is probably good for two bagels. I underestimated how heavy carting around a dozen bagels plus other items throughout the city. There is a slight discount for cash (i.e. not full tax amount), but they accept credit card too. There is a decent amount of seating in the back area with utensils and napkins available. read more

I've been to Liberty Bagels a couple of times now, and it's quickly become one of my go-to spots whenever I'm in New York. The service is always quick, and there are so many options to choose from -- different types of bagels, tons of cream cheeses (many I'd never even heard of before!), plus pastries, egg sandwiches, and other sides. The combinations and flavors feel endless. They're famous for their rainbow bagels, which I haven't tried yet, but they look like a lot of fun. I've had both the sesame and egg bagels -- the sesame one is loaded with seeds (so if you prefer a lighter topping, you might want to scrape a little off), and both were perfectly chewy and flavorful. I don't toast my bagels because I love that soft, chewy texture, and these definitely deliver. Prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous -- especially when it comes to cream cheese. If you're like me and love a thick spread, the standard amount is already plenty. I've ordered extra before and it was almost too much (in a good way!). The bagels are large and so delicious here. I'm normally not a bagel eater due to high carbs but they are well worth it at Liberty. You have to option of ordering the bagel sandwiches scooped (to remove some of the bread inside) or double scooped to save on some carbs. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing. They also have paninis, omelette and hamburgers. Ordering is done in the back at the register and then if it's a bagel order, you go back up front where they will call out your name or wait in the back where they make sandwiches. The seating is limited inside to actually sit down and eat but there are some tables in the back. I have ordered a dozen to take back home with me whenever I come to New York to visit! Both were delicious -- the bagels were fresh, soft inside, and perfectly chewy on the outside. My mom thought her Reuben was a little dry, and it would've been nice if they offered mustard packets (they only had mayo and Cholula hot sauce), but overall everything tasted great. The line was long but moved very quickly, and our food was ready within a minute or two after ordering. I love this bigger location. If you've ever been to Liberty Bagels then you know how delicious their bagels are. They have both sweet & savory options with some of the best cream cheese flavors you can think of. I got a toasted BLT on a garlic bagel and it was everything. The crunch from the garlicky bagel just put everything into motion. I don't like mayonnaise so I got honey mustard instead. They have a big seating area in the back with bathrooms so it was nice to order a quick bite and be able to sit down and eat it. And it is very confusing where to order. There's two different areas - one in the front and one in the back. The employees were friendly though, so that helped. So many bagel and cream cheese choices! I made my own bagel - jalapeño bagel with scallion cream cheese and lox. The bagel is huge. Super thick. I wouldn't even finish it all. The smoked salmon was pretty fresh tasting. The jalapeño bagel didn't taste like jalapeño though, so that was disappointing. I didn't see any jalapeños in the bagel and the bagel wasn't spicy at all. The scallion cream cheese was good. My husband ordered an everything bagel with plain cream cheese. He really liked his. We also ordered iced coffees and it were good. I wish I would have gotten a rainbow bagel with a sweet cream cheese to try. But we were both pretty full after eating our bagels. While staying in the FiDi area for the weekend, we popped over to Liberty Bagels for breakfast so we could take it and have a picnic breakfast in Battery Park. Upon arriving, the line seemed a bit long but it was mostly people who had already ordered and were just standing around (it made it a bit confusing on where to order but luckily they have a sign to direct you). We finally got up to order (I have to admit, they're pretty quick) and got two breakfast sandwiches and then a third French toast w/ Maple Bacon cream cheese just to try a sweet option. The sweet bagel ended up being the best of them all - a definite win! My egg, bacon and cheese w/ garlic bagel was OK as they had forgotten to toast it (or it just was still very soft) and the egg was a bit meh but overall it was still good. I was surprised to see how big the inside was because I would have never thought it would be as big as it was just from the outside. This is by far the best bagel shop I've ever been to and I'm so sad we don't have one in Chicago! I've come here every day since coming to New York and I have 0 regrets. My favorite from there is the Liberty Bagel with birthday cake cream cheese! The cream cheese isn't a super overpowering flavor, which is nice. It's a good balance of sweet and not sweet and then the sprinkles add a little crunch! I also get the bagel toasted to add even more crunch. This was what I had two days in a row! So good. My wife found this Liberty Bagels location at 32 Broadway on Yelp (it's close to the hotel we stayed at). The bagels we had from here were fantastic. Five stars. Depending on where you look, this location is called the Downtown, Financial District (FiDi), or Wall Street location. Currently, there are four locations: three in Manhattan and one in Queens. The flagship store is near Penn Station in Midtown. It opened in 2016, but the business has been around since 1995. This Wall Street location opened on March 1, 2023. It's a stone's throw away from the Charging Bull -- a touristy area. We saw lots of tourists inside. We visited around 11:20am on an ordinary Monday. It was busy, but not crowded/slammed. There were only a couple parties ahead of us in line to order and we didn't have to wait long for our bagels, both at the front counter and back counter (back is where the grill is, for bagels with meat, etc.). Service was polite and efficient. This place ran like a well-oiled machine. We dined in. The entire space is narrow. There's a decent amount of indoor seating hidden in the back. This is a casual joint with not much to speak of in terms of atmosphere. The bagel assortment, homemade cream cheeses, prepared foods (e.g., cookies, cakes, buns), and menu display up front are nice to look at. I like how they've designed the space so that you can look at menus before you enter the line to order (helps with customer flow). Here's what the two of us had: * Reuben on a garlic bagel, toasted ($14.55) - pastrami, melted Swiss, sauerkraut, and mustard * Classic Nova special on an everything bagel, toasted ($16.15) - smoked salmon, scallions, capers, tomato, and scallion cream cheese * Rainbow Bagel with birthday cake cream cheese, toasted ($6.85) All three bagels were fresh, delicious, and filling. We didn't expect to have leftovers, but did. One bagel sandwich here is definitely good enough for a meal. Each sandwich is pretty big. Everything we ordered was well made and stuffed with generous portions of ingredients. Not only that, but they were in the right proportions. The ingredients were nicely balanced. The sandwiches held together well too. My wife appreciated that ingredients didn't pop out when biting into the sandwiches. The Classic Nova was terrific; a classic lox and schmear with a few additional toppings. Really yummy. If you like pastrami and/or a good Reuben sandwich, I highly recommend Liberty's Reuben. Mine was delectably cheesy, but not too cheesy, and the pastrami was moist and flavorful. The Rainbow Bagel with birthday cake cream cheese was surprisingly good. I thought it was just for looks, but it was quite tasty. As a fan of birthday cake, the cream cheese caught me off guard because I expected it to taste more like straight-up icing or birthday cake ice cream. However, it was still very much a cream cheese with a subtly sweet birthday cake flavor (not cloyingly sweet). My wife thinks the Rainbow Bagel had a bit of sweetness to it as well, but I didn't notice/don't remember. We learned after the fact that Liberty Bagels' Rainbow Bagel is popular and went viral on social media. It's certainly fun to order and I think it's worth getting if you've never tried it before. There's a single restroom in the back. It has a door code. During our visit, the code was 4362#. It was printed on our receipt.
