Salad

Downtown Claremont has a vibe. This spot is supposed to have great salads. I don't experience a great salad. It was basically lettuce and a ton of cheese. The house dressing is just yuck. The service was slow-refilled one of our drinks by handing me the cup over a half way instead of walking to our table. Weird right? My mom waited an exorbitant amount of time for the chicken she ordered on top of her salad. She was most of the way finished before they finally brought it to her. I'm not a fan of this place.

This is an OK sports bar. Very large patio. Lot of screens and decent food, and drinks.

Always enjoy stopping here when I'm in the Claremont village. Good selection of food and drink. Great atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating, always clean and staff is always great. They open at 10 am on Sunday during football season. Special menu for football as well. Having been on a chilaquiles kick, today I tried theirs for the first time. For a $12 skillet it was loaded with chops, beans, potato, egg, crema and cilantro and was quite filling. Took half home. Great deal for breakfast.

I came here with my friend and her party for her birthday because we lost our reservation for a restaurant across the street haha. The staff was very accommodating with our party of 9 and we were able to sit almost immediately. The restaurant is honestly very big! The patio sitting has a lot of space and their inside as well. For the menu, I will say that there is quite a variety to order from, but I wish they had other Mexican food options. I ordered the quesadilla appetizer as my meal and it wasn't too bad! Our waiter was also very kind and tended to our needs very well with our huge party - so thank you!

Tuna melt with bacon and potato salad.

I was in the mood for a tuna melt with bacon, and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good it tasted. I wasn't in the mood for fries, so I went with the potato salad which tasted pretty good as well. Service was attentive, and refills on my iced tea were quick. This is a comfortable place for both lunch and dinner, and with the summer heat coming in, there's an outside area that's covered where I've hung out to enjoy the breeze. Compared to the average ratings for this business, my experience has been above the three stars. My minus one star comes from the chips being incredibly salty, so I pass on them most of the time. Otherwise, this place is a solid local spot for me! Cheers!

Ask the Community - Espiau's

Are you going to bring back carnitas any time soon? I miss my favorite taquitos!! And the chile colorado / red chile? I miss my Ranchero burrito! If you brought them back, I would come more often. Maybe you could have them one or two days per week?

Are you checking for vaccination cards?

No, they are not. Only restaurants in the City of Los Angeles are enforcing, not LA County.

What is on the happy hour menu?

Do they allow dogs in the outdoor patio?

Hi there! We do allow dogs on the patio as long as they are on a leash, remain on the floor, get along with others, and are well behaved.

I did not add any seasoning as I truly enjoyed the natural flavoring of the young vegetables. The carrots were mildly sweet, roasted pine nuts were earthy, cherry tomatoes, and sautéed in extra virgin olive oil. It was drizzled with vegan pesto, topped with fresh basil, and as mentioned earlier the pasta was gluten free. Overall, I truly enjoyed the experience and my meal. Service did not waiver which made for an overall good meal with the family on Sunday Funday. The Finney's Crafthouse in Claremont is located on Harvard Avenue. As noted above, we came in on a Sunday around brunch/lunch time which also coincides with the Claremont Farmer's Market. As a result, parking was a little bit of a challenge and limited, though not to any fault of Finney's. There were several things that were intriguing on their menu, but ultimately, we ended up ordering the - Cheesesteak Egg Rolls - A5 Wagyu Burger - Pastrami Reuben I am not lying when I saw that everything that touched down on our table was delicious. We were fine with it, and were given two menus and told to sit anywhere we wanted. After 15 minutes, no servers had come out to take drink orders or anything, so my boyfriend went inside to ask if someone could come take our order. I looked around the patio area and realized there were two other tables whose patrons were there before us, waiting for drinks and service, just like we were. One of them was fanning herself with the menu, as it was close to 100° outside. (There are no misters on the patio, just a slight breeze now and then. And, if you sit near the patio entrance, you should know that the huge dryer vents from the adjacent hotel are pushing hot air into the patio.) My boyfriend came back and said that he was told "someone will be out soon", and he noticed that all the servers were watching the soccer game inside. We were so glad we left...we ended up at Gus's BBQ across the way, and OMG...save yourself the trouble of the weak menu & non-existent service at The Back Abbey and walk over to Gus's.
