The location was nice, pretty central in Old Town Temecula but other that it's subpar. I was already worried because as we sat down we could hear people walking past exclaiming that the place was bad and to not eat there. The carne asada and pollo asada tacos had no flavor to them, the shells were overly greasy and fell apart as soon as I grabbed them, pinto beans were just salty, and the Spanish rice was so clumpy and mushed it felt like Play-Doh. The salsa they gave you at the beginning was all spice and no actual flavor. The service was fine at the beginning, the greeter was so friendly but our actual server just didn't listen. They have a vegan plate and we asked if the rice and beans would be vegan too, she said that we could just sub black beans and everything would still be vegan. Plate came out with black beans, but Spanish rice, which she told us has chicken stock in it. When she came back we explained that this isn't vegan, she was just going to scrap it off the plate, which is still cross contamination. We asked if we could just get a three taco plate and no rice or beans. Plate comes back out, only two tacos and a shit ton of beans. TLDR: Food has no flavor staff doesn't actually listen or know about the food they are serving. Would not recommend. read more

A bit pricey, but food was good. A bit steep but its right in the middle of Old Town Temecula so that's to be expected. I got a "bad a**" burrito bowl with chicken. The chicken was a bit dry and a bit flavorless but everything else in the bowl had flavor so there was a saving grace. My boyfriend has the Southwest Chicken which he said was good. It's a very full salad with a lot of toppings so it was filling. Service was slow. I could tell there were enough servers but maybe they were hanging in the back? Really bad food and service! Waiter was friendly and charming, but he had no idea about service. The manager approached our table, and he didn't notice all the dirty (empty) dishes and glasses on the table either. Food is really bad; the meat on the carne asada tacos most likely was cooked the day before and kept on the warmer all day, so it was dry like beef jerky, the tortillas were chewy. The pato carnitas guarache was horrible as well; the duck meat was fried to a crisp. Ceviche was average at best; it was bitter. Bitterness is caused by old lime/lemon juice, or the ceviche was made the day before.. This is my new favorite place to get dinner! It is pretty inside and the atmosphere is wonderful. All staff are friendly and helpful especially if you are new. I got the fajitas and they were soo good! Definitely a fan of the shrimp! I also got to try their shrimp ceviche which was good too! I ordered the tamarindo margarita and that was definitely my new favorite drink. The night I came I noticed food was taking a very long time to come out. The party of 15+ next to us said they were waiting over an hour. For our table of four, food came out maybe between 30-40 mins. We weren't in a rush but good to keep in mind if you are. Three strikes and you're out. After three visits to this place, it's not one I'll return to in the future. Service is the biggest issue here. On our last visit we waited 15 min for chips and salsa and that was after we asked three different people for it. Drinks weren't delivered in a timely manner. Food is good but it has never been delivered together. If this place could get their front of the house s*** together it would be a destination in downtown Temecula, until then search out other Mexican food. This was a great find!! We were originally looking for another restaurant in the same area, but their music was super loud, so we decided on Espadin instead and we are so glad we did!! The atmosphere was very relaxing, the decor was a perfect mix of old and new/modern. The margaritas were great and the food excellent!! The carne fajitas were super tender and the flavorful citrus glaze on them was the bomb!! Their shredded beef enchiladas were the best I have ever had... seriously!! And the beans and rice...: let's put it this way... I never eat the beans .... But these were like HOME MADE .... So delicious!! We were a party of 4 celebrating my husband birthday. The place is beautiful, our waiter "Jordan" absolutely amazing!! The chips and salsa were good but it stopped there. I've never been to Mexican restaurant with such horrible food. Honestly, the food was such a big disappointment. Our bill was over $100 dollars the drinks were awful "margaritas" the food was the worst Mexican food I've ever had. We ordered chips and guacamole, the guacamole was bland was missing salt and lemon. I ordered the southwest salad and looked like they never washed the salad, the chicken had no flavor, it didn't come with anything, I had to ask the waiter to bring me tortillas chips, it was hands down the worst salad I've ever had in my life! My husband and my friend's fiancé ordered enchiladas "chicken mole and red cheese" awful they didn't eat it. My friend ordered "sopes" they served the sopes with whole beans and spinach on top. Sopes are supposed to be served with refried beans. Nothing had flavor. We left the place hungry and upset that we spent so much money and still hungry. read more

The food I make at home taste better than espadins food. I also asked for a drink from a girl who dropped off our food & she had an attitude & just said I'll let them know. I'm actually glad they forgot my drink. My husband said his carnitas had no flavor. Both of my tortillas looked like they were at the bottom of a bag because they were folded & worst of all our food wasn't even hot when it came to us. NEVER AGAIN. Also didn't bring us tortilla chips for our guacamole & my husbands tacos came with pickled onions & he had to take them off himself. He does not eat pickled onions. First time going to Espadín. My wife and I ordered a beer and margarita at the bar. The beer was cold and great but my wife said her margarita was the worst she ever had. Maybe it was a new bartender who was just learning how to make drinks so I will give the bartender the benefit of the doubt. What really dropped the score was when I witnessed the bartender take shot glasses from patrons that were leaving and run their shot glasses under tap water and the bartender just ran their finger around the inside of the glass. No soap and no hot water. The bartender now filled these glasses, which weren't even dry yet with tequila and serve them to other guests! This happened with 4 shot glasses. I'm hoping it was just this one time that this happened but we left and won't be going back. read more

It was some salt here and some salt there, it wasn't a good balance with the drink imo. The flavor was surely lacking too. The food was mediocre at best. Nothing special. I probably wouldn't have bothered reviewing Espadin if it weren't for the rude host. We came and asked for a table of 3, she ignored us and went to someone else and asked the other host to help us. The other host was confused and wait s for her to come back. Then she asked if we were okay sitting outside. We asked if there was a heater and she said yes, directly above the table. She then sat us at a table without a heater because the one with the heater was dirty. Our server came by and we requested to move. She then had the host help clean the table. We said "thank you so much! Sorry we just get really cold" the host then proceeded to respond "well maybe you should wear a jacket". We were all wearing jackets. It was Sunday so I needed Micheladas that's why we chose this Mexican restaurant and bar in old town Temecula. We came in minutes after they opened so it wasn't too many people at all. But later on the restaurant was getting packed and people were waiting outside too. The booth seating next to bar was very cozy and comfy with a good view of the colorful bar and mural in the back. I started off with Pacifico Michelada since they didn't have Modelo. It was still tasty but I think Modelo tastes just a bit better. Chips and salsa were fresh and yummy but salsa was not spicy at all. I had fish ceviche and fish taco, hubby had two kinds of beef tacos and a fish taco. The tacos were so yummy and flavorful, ceviche was very fresh and delicious too. On my second Michelada I also ordered Mezcal flight, for $22 the pours were so generous, they were almost full shot glasses to my surprise. I drank them with lime and orange slices which was so smoky and yummy! I wanted some churros but I was too full to have it. What a fantastic Mexican restaurant and bar, food and drinks were so yummy at reasonable prices. We would definitely come back whenever we are in town! read more
