I really enjoyed coming to this place. It was recommended to me by a fellow yelper and it was great. This place is on the side of an abandoned mall. It is impossible to spot from the street. You need GPS to get here. I was served by the bartender KJ and the service was great. He showed me around and explained the venue. They have comedy shows on Thursday, DJs for Friday & Saturday, and Jazz on Sunday. I ordered the Red Snapper Jerk. It came with plantains, fried potato cakes, carrots, and tomatoes. The Red Snapper was great but loaded with bones. I really enjoyed the greens inside the fish. Potato cakes are pretty bland so get a dipping sauce. I will return for one of their events. read more

Second time I came here. I am not sure what happen, but the service this time was very very very subpar. We came here for a coworker birthday. I do understand we were a big party, but standard of service should never been subpar for the price we were paying. We order a few bottles of wine, and some of us didnt get wine glass. How did the wine come before the glasses. Food took for to arrive. One of our co worker didnt get her food, found out they gave it to the wrong table. About the time, she got her food, everybody else was finish .Server never came back for water refills. However , the food is still good. I normally loveeeee this place but had to note today our service was exceptionally slow. Took us 1.5 hrs to get our food. We were a big party and there was another large party as well, but The restaurant wasn't full at all. Even getting bread and drink orders took a while. Everything was delicious, but there was no apologies or even acknowledgment of the delay I will say though, both my aunt and son had the jam down spring rolls and they got sick. My son violently threw up three times at the table immediately after and my aunt was very sick afterwards. I know Ackee can be dangerous if not washed and prepared correctly so I think the kitchen should note this. This was a Thursday night at around 7:30 PM. It's a core really nice. Very comfortable. Our server was sweet. Very patient with my dining partner who had a lot of questions and restrictions. My dinner partner ordered a snapper, and I had the oxtails with rice and peas. The presentation of both of them was amazing. The rum punch was tasty and exactly as described by server. My dining partner opted it for the much stronger version which I can't remember its name. And it indeed was strong according to her. All in all, it was a nice experience. The food was good. The young man that was our server was great, the hostess to check on us on a couple of occasions and I appreciate that. I just thought the service was slow. This place is located where the old north lake mall used to be. It's not clearly visible from the street, you'll have to drive into the mall parking lot to get to it. The ambiance is beautiful in there. As a Jamaican I appreciated the wall art displayed in there and of course big up Bob Marley. It's a pretty big establishment. I went during lunch time and it was pretty empty. They have lunch specials but it's to go only. The spring rolls were delicious 10/10. I had the stew chicken entree. It was good for what it was, the rice could have been a bit better. 8/10 my friend had the oxtail Rasta pasta, she said it was very good 9/10. I've visited the Snellville location in the past. I was very excited to know that they were opening a location within 10 minutes of my house. I went this past Friday night for dinner. Upon arrival we were pleasantly greeted and seated within two minutes. We opted to sit on the side where the music was playing. The DJ Chip Lee was absolutely amazing. He's not just a DJ. He is a full on performer. We have so much fun, listening to reggae, Soca and dance hall music. I ordered the fried shrimp for an appetizer and the sauce that they tossed it in was absolutely delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the oxtail Rasta pasta and it was delicious. I just wish that I had ordered another protein to include in it because when I asked once my food got to the table, I was not able to just add a protein because they don't do side orders of protein and I would be charged for another meal entirely. Let me start by saying the food was great! That is why I gave 4 stars. As I'm writing this it has been at least 20 minutes since we ordered our second drinks. I'm really trying not to take away another star, but... It took a while for us to get our food. How is there just 1 bartender on a Friday night? Maybe there was just 1 cook also tonight. First off the the rating was 100 from the state. The restaurant is absolutely beautifully decorated and very spacious. They have Comedy night last and a little stage and room to dance . I arrived at Northlake mall near the Food Court, however the restaurant is located outside of the mall near Footlocker and Dugan's. The restaurant seems nice for dining in. The health score is 100. There was a woman sitting at the host stand, she didn't offer much assistance but a server quickly jumped in to check the status of my meal. I arrived exactly at the time I was supposed to for pickup and ate my meal shortly after. The food was warm, I fully expected it to be hot. The flavor of the sauce was pretty good, but the salmon lacked seasoning; so, I had to make sure to eat the salmon with the sauce. It was worth a try. Cloaked in rich velvets, deep emerald colors and Caribbean art, this place is reallyyyy beautiful. The bar is one of the first things you see when you enter and it's a fabulous first impression. We visited on a Saturday early evening before the night really kicked off. It took a few minutes to get seated but once we were, the night was seamless. We had Tamia as our waitress and she was truly phenomenal! I started with a guava margarita and it was delicious and strong - two great combos when it comes to a night out. We opted for the jerk chicken plantain nachos and salt fish & ackee spring rolls for starters to share at the table. Both were SO good!! The nachos were superrr cheesy, including big, juicy plantains at the bottom and the flavors blended well. The spring rolls were really an incredible surprise. I grew up eating salt fish & ackee, but the combo inside of the spring roll paired with sweet chili sauce was bananas. For dinner, I couldn't pass up the snapper. The snapper is available in two different sizes and about 5 different ways. I decided to go for a small snapper, escovitch style with rice & peas. Let me tell you.. that snapper was GREAT! The fish was beautifully prepared, the veggies were perfectly pickled and full of flavor. I wish I could have one of those weekly!! Jerk seasoning is respective of the culture. So many times authentic recipes adjust to the environment. There was a DJ playing Caribbean music and Afrobeats and I'm told he's there every Friday and Sunday. Definitely enjoyed the vibes. They had a dj playing some good tunes and I almost got up from my seat to dance with the other locals! They had plenty of large tv's to watch NBA and NFL games on. I ordered the salmon with guava sauce, broccoli, and rice & peas. I must have misread the menu because I thought it came with potatoes, but the waitress said it's rice and peas OR potatoes. So make sure you get clarity on the menu. The guava sauce wasn't very good so I ate the salmon without it. Everything else was very tasty even though the rice and peas were a bit dry. The servers were all friendly but it was kind of hard to communicate over the music. I might sit at the other bar near the entrance next time to prevent shouting over the tunes. This was my first time trying this location. I would definitely recommend. The location is beautiful and big. Staff was great and food was very good. I will say however that service at times was a bit slow for it not being too packed. I had a classic margarita for a drink and the curry goat for my meal. Having been to the other location I was a little disappointed at how dry the complimentary bread was, but I can appreciate getting complimentary bread as not all places actually do that. But my curry was great and I enjoyed my drink. Tamia, our waitress, was very sweet and the manager or owner stopper briefly by the table to make sure we were ok which I also appreciated. My mom ordered the coconut water which was advertised as "authentic coconut water" but it wasn't. Overall, I would definitely go back and can't wait to try some more things! read more

We were served complimentary bread, similar to a coco bread that was hot and tasty. My favorite items that afternoon was the blow wow shrimp and the Jerk Chicken Plantain Nachos. Tonight my family and I spent nearly $90 on a to-go order supporting a Black-owned restaurant we frequent. We arrived at 9:48 PM and we received an email stating our food was ready. However, when we arrived, we were eventually told by the owner/manager, Dwight, that our order had been given to someone else. We then waited an additional 15-20 minutes while the food was remade. What made the experience so upsetting was not even the wait itself. Mistakes happen in restaurants every single day. It was the complete lack of empathy, accountability, and basic hospitality afterward that left such a bad impression. The restaurant was nearly empty, yet there was still no sincere apology or acknowledgment from Dwight himself. From the very beginning of the interaction, the owner was extremely rude, dismissive, and defensive rather than understanding or solution-oriented. After waiting and being inconvenienced, I calmly asked if there was any way we could be compensated -- even something small like a drink, dessert, or discount. Instead of understanding, we were met with coldness and hostility. Dwight repeatedly stated he was "not giving anything" and after I share with him that I used to work in the restaurant industry he told me, "You run your restaurant your way and I'll run mine mine." As someone with a background in hospitality, the interaction honestly hurt more than it should have because I know firsthand that situations like this can be handled with grace. Customers usually are not angry over an extra 15-20 minute delay. They become upset when they feel dismissed, brushed off, and made to feel like their time and money do not matter. Another customer nearby even spoke up and commented that it was not the way customers should be treated, which confirmed that the interaction truly was as uncomfortable as it felt. What made it even more disappointing was that after my sister and I calmly expressed our disappointment, Dwight opened the door and escorted us out rather than attempting to resolve the situation or show any empathy toward paying customers. A simple apology, a little empathy, or even basic ownership of the mistake would have completely changed the experience. Instead, my family walked away feeling disrespected and unwelcome. In the world we are living in today, kindness and respect are free. No customer should ever be treated this way, regardless of the caliber or size of the restaurant. I have honestly never been treated with this level of disrespect at a restaurant before. Taking care of your customers should always be the number one priority, especially when the mistake was made by the restaurant itself. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would never patronize this restaurant again. read more

I absolutely enjoyed dining at this new restaurant. I was very impressed with the layout and decor of the restaurant. As Trinidadian, it can be hit or miss with Caribbean restaurants, especially in the south. My oxtail entree was delectable, that gravy was so tasty. The vegetables provided the right notes of sweetness. Not all Jamaican restaurants are created equally and most tend to water down the essence of the food to cater to the palates of others. Escovitchez, THANK YOU for sticking to the formula of Caribbean cuisine. I especially appreciate them having real pepper sauce and not Texas Pete or any other non-Caribbean hot sauce. I came in and was seated at the bar (afternoon, lunch time). I ordered an entree and juice, no alcohol. It wasn't very busy. The server seemed nice when I sat. She was speaking to another lady that was seated the bar as if they were familiar. I sat, she handed me a menu. I sat for a little longer and she walked back over and asked if I had questions. I stated that I'd like to order if that's ok. The food took a little longer than I expected. No problem. It wasn't hot...no problem. Another small group of 4 comes in and also sit at the bar. The server begins to help them. By now my drink is watered down, mostly ice. I noticed that she has spoken to the other guests around me quite a few times and not once did she ask if I'd like anything else to drink, water, if the food is ok...nothing. I wanted to order a couple more entrees to go, but since she never approached I decided to just pay for what I ordered and leave. When I did finally get her attention to ask for my check and a to go box, she looked at me as if I was a bother. I look at the receipt and noticed a 20% gratuity had been added. I immediately scratched off the additional/unintentional tip I had written in. I was caught off guard when I saw the added gratuity.
