We rented Fine Feathers in Phoenix, AZ Just love the artwork on this van! Daniel made the rental process easy. I booked the trip in early February for a September vacation and got a great deal. We traveled to Sedona and camped at Cave Springs. The van was just everything we needed. I traveled with my two girls. From there we went to Monument Valley and camped at Goulding's. We picked the best campsites as well. Waking up in the morning to see the Mittens was the ultimate experience. I would highly recommend renting from Escape. I did hear that corporate has bought them out. I hope they don't change a thing. It was so much fun to see other people who also rented from Escape on the highway!

I took this trip over a month ago and held off writing a review because I just wasn't sure how to rate them. I wanted to love it so badly and just didn't. Let me start by saying that I am a prior Peace Corps volunteer so I definitely know how to rough it. With that said, I'm currently in Scottsdale and enjoy more upscale things. I regularly camp though and enjoy the outdoors immensely. I've been torn if I didn't love this vacation because I didn't like the van life or if I didn't like THIS van. Therefore, I decided to write the pros and cons of this particular company and van. I hope it's helpful. The cons: 1- Super hard to reach the local business on the phone for pick up and drop off times or any planning. Everything goes through the main 1 800 number until the day before pick up, you can't even get a local number beforehand to ask questions. They then call you the day before your trip with a time window when you can pick up the van. So you have to be OK not knowing what time you can get the van until the day before. There is a VERY limited window of time for when you can pick up the van or drop off (free of charge). When I did try to get information the day before it was during a pick up window for them and the person working in the office basically hung up on me telling me she was too busy to answer my questions during pick up. 2- The vans are old. They have beautiful artwork on the outside, But the van itself inside was very rundown. If you like new or updated things this is not your van. We ordered a dinner set of pots and pans and plates, silverware etc. and we ended up not using them and buying our own along the way. That utensils and plates were so old and scraped we didn't want to eat off of them. The material on the seats is also all old and worn and the curtains are as well. 3- There is no Bluetooth in the van. Makes for a very long drive. The van is noisy inside so hard to listen to anything on the speaker of your phone. 4- The bed was super hard and uncomfortable. I'm more comfortable tent camping with a mattress pad. 5- The check-in and drop off window is a tiny office in downtown Phoenix. Due to Covid protocols only one party was allowed in the office at a time. There is absolutely no shade outside, chairs or water etc. Pick up was the same time for everybody. Therefore, you're standing outside waiting your turn in really hot weather with the sun blasting on you. Wear a hat or bring an umbrella. 6- There is no USB port in the vehicle. If you want to charge your phone bring an adapter. Pros: I - as noted above, the vehicles are beautifully painted. 2- compared to other camper van companies the price was very competitive. 3- The 1-800 booking number/central office is easy to reach with general questions. 4- The camper van was very easy to drive. 5- The staff was very nice once we got to the local office and even acknowledged the hurrying me off the phone call the day before and was very apologetic. 6- They threw in with my rate for free an adapter for my phone charger when I realized no USB port 7- I wanted to extend my drop off by a day and they were very accommodating (I paid the upgraded fee and it was no hassle). 8- They did not try to upsell me at all on any of the extras for the van. A couple other things to note. The van gets about 16 or 17 mph for gas. I think that's about expected for the size van. There are lots of additional things that you can purchase through the company if you need it. They have bed sets, electrical sets and shower sets etc. we did purchase the electrical set which I found very helpful. It had a fan and a heater provided with an extension cord. We drove from Arizona up the coast of California. When we were in areas like Joshua tree we very much needed the fan. Parts of Northern California we very much needed the heater. It worked well and was very useful. Overall, if you're looking for an inexpensive very basic camper van and you're not interested in any amenities this van is great. If you're looking for anything a little bit nicer with more built-in features or upgraded interior this is not the van.

Besides the limited check in & check out times this company is awesome. Finess Dabbs was charming and informative. Miss Bourbon St. transported Peter Pan and I to some beautiful AZ locations and my aunts wedding in style. Zero problems! The van got 16/17 miles per gallon which includes a decent amount of idle time. Inside the van there Is plenty of headroom, curtains for privacy and good lighting. The bed was huge, and the kitchen setup was perfect for yummy breakfasts and chill mornings. If you plan on staying at campgrounds with showers, skip out on the solar shower and the electrical set is only useful if you plan on camping long term in one place. Another aspect we thought was brilliant was the travelers item exchange at the at the pick up/drop off location. This definitely saved us some money! We can't wait till we get to the chance to travel with them again.

Ok so they eventually got back to me and managed to do the change we needed. The van was perfect, we loved traveling with it. Costumers service ended up great. Definitely recommended. We saw other companies vans during our trip, escape's are a different level.

Just finished our weeklong roadtrip through the Southwest with Escape's "Story Book" van and we miss it so much already! Our van was perfect for the trip -- well-organized setup, it kept us warm at night, and had everything we needed. We were especially impressed with how much food we could store in the solar-powered fridge (and how cold it kept everything!) It was our first time in a campervan, and the convenience of being able to just hop in the van and head to the next stop on the trip can't be beat. I highly recommend anyone looking for a different type of trip or just an outdoorsy adventure to try out Escape. You'll have the time of your life. FYI - we picked up our van in Phoenix, and dropped it off in Vegas (stops in between were Sedona, Lake Powell, and Zion National Park).

We had the absolute BEST experience renting our Escape Campervan. We picked up "Smokey" in Salt Lake City and then drove through Moab, Zion area, Grand Canyon, and Sedona. When dropping the van off at Escape Campervans in Phoenix, Megan couldn't have been more friendly, efficient, and helpful! She even took the time to give us lunch recommendations since we had some time to kill before our flight. We highly, highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to travel in style with unlimited flexibility and at a very reasonable rate!

It's been 2 months since the trauma this company has caused me. I debated posting since I've read…read moreothers have had issues getting refunds or reimbursements. So I can only say beware of this company there is no customer service and very shady business as I rented a Family comfort and they even said I was upgraded in an email. What I got was the biggest turd with an out board generator that does not run the Ac in over 90° weather in Arizona and it only holds a few gallons. I'm an experienced Rv'er and I'm also handicap. I tried to cancel this Rv when I saw what they were giving me. Broken cabinets, doors, the Ac would not turn on. And a pull choke on the generator as I knew I couldn't do it myself but my friend reassured me she could help. I called CS from their office and was talking to someone out of the country and was told I would not get a refund for cancellation day of. The person who was working there did find me a newer rig, but it was filthy and no gas in it. I should have never accepted this rental and did a chargeback for none delivery. The charge for returning the Rv without dumping the black tank is $389 and the amount of time I spent trying to dump it was crazy. We pulled the black and nothing came out. We did all the tricks. Filled toilet and flushed.. nope. Got the hose and stick it down the toilet... nope. Us thinking it was a poop pyramid which we were Boondocking so that shouldn't be the case. I had 3 people trying to help me and for the grace of God one guy crawled under there (I could not) and he screams "there's a 2nd pull for black" it's on the other side of the Rv. He pulled it and yup that was it. So before that was found I called CS. No help at all as they wanted me to go get some RV gel. Yes again another person out of the country and I just couldn't get any help trouble shooting the poop tank. I am so thankful for the guys at Rancho Sonora Rv park in Florence Az for helping me dump. All I can say is if I hadn't figured out how to dump this tank it would have been nearly a $400 charge and it instantly felt scammy. I'll never rent from them again and I'd suggest anyone reading this beware.

They changed my RV to an "upgrade" model 3 days before we were supposed to pick it up, so refunding…read morefor any reasonable amount was impossible if I wanted to cancel. Why put me through the booking process if what I booked isn't available? The bigger RV gets far less gas mileage and is extremely detrimental to our trip because we would be more restricted on where we could park for plans we have already booked. It is NOT an upgrade. It's like booking a sports car and getting a bus. I paid for something I'm not getting. In any other business, they would refund. Booking online is very deceptive, I believe that they bet on most people to go through it not reading between all the lines, which makes it easier to enter into sketchy contracts that release all rights of the customer. I wasn't aware of the over $2,000 deposit I would have to pay at the time of picking up the vehicle. I tried to call, chat and email customer service to refund my vehicle, as it might be bigger but only adds costs to my trip due to us not being able to visit our planned destinations, having to change reservations last minute which charged penalties, and the extra gas cost. The bigger RV gets 8mpg, something I had to research, as it is not readily available on their site. The customer services is rude and unhelpful. The response time is incredibly slow. The man I talked to on the phone was clearly reading off a script and wouldn't help at all with a possible refund, even if only partial. He kept repeating the same phrases word for word. This is a trip I saved up for and now I have lost a little over $3,000. I'd rather have the vehicle be made unavailable entirely so I could get a refund. Business practices are incredibly deceptive. Thank you Indie Campers for ruining our trip and causing stress when I am supposed to be looking forward to it. We are now taking our own car and camping in a tent - something I did NOT want to do because of the heat. I will be pursuing legal avenues.

Indie Campers - Phoenix - Found the second Black tank pull under here for the family comfort. If we had not found it, it would've cost me almost $400 in fees.

The team at Boho created the most beautiful van I've seen. Absolutely love her. Thank you!…read more Is my second van and I chose this team over my last builders because the process was a little tough for my first one. Boho's systems and procedures were tighter and the end result is gorgeous! There were some challenges along the way, as there always are, but David and Brett and the whole team came together to solve things. They are definitely upper echelon van builders in every way. And they work very hard for their reviews, ensuring that every customer leaves happy. They are really great humans! If you are considering a van build, you won't be disappointed in Boho. Highly recommend. :)

Let me start by saying that Harvey the van we rented was great fun and had all your needs for camping! Our experience was great we had the van for 2 weeks which is the longest boho said that have ever rented out. We traveled over 4000 miles in that Van and gave us no problems. We were able to stop at campgrounds rv parks anywhere you wanted to stay. The bed in the van comfortable. Has your cooler which is solar powered (no I've needed). Outlets for charging any of the devices you might carry. running water shower in the back. I'll tell you it it's what you want to have on wheels and compact so you can get wherever you need to. The downside is that it does eat up alot of gas. So if your planning on traveling make sure you budget extra money for gas. Also not much hanging room for clothes and such for when you are on the road. Has plenty of storage for the van that we have. Maybe should add a shower curtain to the back. And so e straps for things that are inside the van. The guys are fun to work with... we had a little bit of an issue but the owner David (great guy) was able to find us a resolution without having our concerns unheard or felt like we were getting taken advantage of.
