I stayed on that line as I navigated my mother into the building. When I finally reached the front desk, the clerk had the audacity to snap at me, "YOU GUYS ARE LATE!" She didn't realize I was smarter than her games. I turned on my speakerphone right there at the desk--I was still on hold. I stood there watching her ignore the phone while she sat and chatted with two other employees. She wasn't busy; she was just being lazy and dishonest. The look of shock on her face when she realized I caught her in a lie said everything. Conflicting Instructions and Disregard for the Doctor After our appointment, Dr. Harry Balian specifically told us to wait for an EKG. When I asked the staff for the room number, I was met with total incompetence. One person pointed to a vacant room, while another dismissively told me, "No, you just need to come back." When I insisted that the doctor told us to wait, her response was insulting: "Dr. Balian doesn't know our schedule; you need to come back." It is mind-boggling that your staff thinks they have the authority to override a cardiologist's medical orders for an 85-year-old patient. Health Risks and Discrimination To make matters worse, while we were being forced to reschedule, a staff member was coughing violently without a mask and without even covering her mouth. This is the same office that texted me warning about "viruses spreading" and restricting visitors to "avoid contamination." The hypocrisy is staggering. You treat us like a "contamination risk" while your own staff openly coughs on patients without a single "sorry" or a mask in sight. Closing Statement We felt targeted and discriminated against from the moment we walked in. These women have no manners, no professional ethics, and absolutely no respect for the reputation of a talented physician like Dr. Balian. No matter which one of her offices you go to (she has two), there is always a crowded waiting room. There will literally be people standing and hovering over you. The offices don't seem very clean and the furniture is literally taped because it's ripped and falling apart. Our first visit was at this office off of Foothill. That day we waited a hour and a half past our appointment time because the Dr was running late. Fast forward to today January 23 2025 there was no notice that this particular office in Reseda would be closed. No call to her patients, no email, nothing. I literally came because my little one is sick and we needed a last minute check up. This is super unprofessional but what was I expecting when the first visit wasn't very professional either.

On several occasions I have had to go to the ER or urgent care simply because I could not reach my primary care doctor--who is supposed to be the first point of contact. When Dr. Emil was overseeing everything, the service was excellent; he is a great doctor. However, without proper access and communication, the quality of care is lost. I have since switched to another provider who is actually available to answer a call when needed. I hope this office can resolve these issues and return to the professional standard they once had, rather than continuing the current trend of being unavailable and overcapacity.

Optum took over this wonderful practice in January of this year and has ruined it with big corporation carelessness.
