A weekend in Paris and it was recommended to go here so I Had a delish sandwhich was premised in the section where they have sandwhiches made. My sandwhich was considered one needing to be eaten hot. My husband had the pile au chocolat and I had a coffee. I was too scared to ask for milk or cream but after tasting it, it was amazing. Based on a recommendation from the hotel concierge, this chain of boulangeries was a welcome font for pre-made sandwiches, quiches, pastries, and other baked goods across Paris. I love me a good baguette sandwich, and this place did not disappoint. I don't know what it is about the food in Paris, but I think I could exist off grab-and-go baguette sandwiches all day long. Very nice to start the morning with amazing chocolate croissant and great coffee. I had breakfast here three days in a row. The ambience is modern and bright， unlike most small and dark breakfast place in Paris. Sandwich and salad look great too though I have not had a chance to try. I made it a mission to grab a few bakery items from here every day I was in Paris. This is one of the best places to drop by if you're a tourist, given that the place is clean, fast (for take out at least), in a prime location, and has great ambiance to boot. The cashiers' English fluency isn't the best, but they're friendly and didn't laugh at me for pointing wildly at items, or for butchering the pronunciation of croissants the good ol' American way. :) Do not miss out on the pain au chocolat. Just do yourself a favor and order it. FYI: I noticed numerous fresh food items (sandwiches, sides) that you can grab to go on the fridge shelves, if you need something more substantial than just pastries. The only downside to this place is that you'll never be satisfied with pastry shops again when you return home. read more

A really neat breakfast/lunch place. It has many locations but the one we went to two days in a row was near Vendôme plaza. I got a croissant with butter and my fiancé got a customized sandwiches. They are very polite and tend to English speaking customers. The menu is also in english. Most locals were taking g the food out but we sat and ate. We enjoyed every minute of it. Went in with high hopes as blogs said it was a must to visit while in Paris. The staff were pretty cold. She asked if we wanted it to take away or stay and I said stay but she threw it in a bag anyways. We were fine to just take it to go but she said oh you said stay and then told us to sit. We ordered a tea and coffee it was 4.50 euro just for the tea. It was more than all the croissants. The croissants were excellent, super flakey and great flavour. A lady came over and out the bill down with not even a smile and walked back to the cash without saying anything. I got up and lined up and paid. Five stars for the baked goods (ex. pain au chocolat, almond-chocolate croissant), the baguette, and latte (or, as they call them, the "café crème")! I have not tried the salads, sandwiches, cakes, and other food items they sell, but they look just as delicious. The price for the baked goods is really cheap for the quality, which is perfect from my standards. You have to pay about twice as much for the same quality of food back home in Montreal. Vive Paris ;) Plus, the service is prompt and friendly. I highly recommend this place. P.S. You need to spend at least 5 euros to use a credit card. read more

It was conveniently located next to our hotel so we decided to grab coffee and croissants for breakfast. Unlike the NYC location which is full of tourists, this one seemed to be frequented by local professionals grabbing a quick meal so it was a good place to people watch. O.m.g. this place was amazing! We went here multiple times during our stay in Paris. The chocolate croissants and espresso were top notch. Our son really liked the raisin pastry. Amazing bread, croissants, danishes and pastries!! We had one of each today and it's all made to perfection. The croissant was flakey and buttery, baguette is so light and delicious, had a caramel eclair and it was surprisingly to die for. Usually pastries are made too sweet but this had the prefect balance in everything. The pain-aux-amandes was fresh out of the oven warm and tasteful. Everything is melt in your mouth delicious. I'm shocked this place has good reviews. We stopped by here for a quick sandwich and both of our sandwiches were terrible. Mine was covered in thick mayo, lettuce that was wilted, tasted and had gone bad and absolutely no flavor and my husband had the Thon and it had a little more flavor but was still pretty awful. read more

I am so sad to say, but not every baguette is made equal. While I don't take my earlier review about le pain in Paris or Tokyo - I jumped at the wonderful news of when the franchise opened up two more branches in Hk. Normally, I restrict my carb intake (because I save all the carb n butter loading for my very special reward trips to France :) hehehe) but I wanted to try it anyways, so I did. Sadly, it must be the environment or the lack of skilled bakers because the pistachio rolls, madelines, baguettes, regular sweet breads, croissants were just not the same grade as what I had previously in Japan and France. Still good but not the same caliber. That said, I would just be cautious in knowing that the standard can vary depending on the country but surely...it is never a miss in Tokyo!!!! Surprisingly, it was the sandwiches for lunch rather than the pastries at breakfast that get the four star rating. As big fans of Maison Kayser in the City, we were excited to see Eric Kayser so close to our Place Vendome hotel, so we came here early on our stay for breakfast one morning. The café au lait was good, but not great and the same for the croissant and pain as chocolate. Great taste at a reasonable price, but the macaronade with fresh raspberry and pistachio cream filling really hit the spot. The other desserts looked amazing and we would have tried more, if we weren't watching our sugar intake. We returned a few days later to sample the pret display case. The pea and bean chicken salad with a bit of couscous was original, but less than thrilling. The chicken sandwich was tasty and the bread fresh. after the remodel the service has really gone downhill. a lot of products not ready when they open or even by 8:30am, some products no longer offered but they don't know why or if they are available in other eric kayser stores, they just tell you to check for yourself. it seems more and more disorganized, and the service gets slower and slower and less friendly! i try to avoid now as the prices are high and while the quality of the products is good, it is honestly not so much better as to warrant the disorganized service and nonchalant attitude. it seems to be a victim of becoming part of a chain. read more
