Had a nice experience here spending a little time before a show. The setting is really nice, inside an old train station that includes a hotel. So the lobby is in what amounts to the hotel lobby, but it doesn't have that feel at all. It is classy and refined, without being stuffy. Really comfortable and nice. The cocktails were good, and while the service was friendly it was a bit slow. It definitely feels like they tend to be a bit understaffed. But I'm sure it is also difficult for them to anticipate how busy the place will be on a given night. Overall a very good experience with nice vibes, and I will certainly stop by again. read more

Carter's is located in the Union Station Hotel lobby. I began my my introduction with the space with having drinks. I ordered an Old Fashioned and Gimlet - start out with the classics - if they can do those - we will be ok! During my next visit I had breakfast, the shrimp and grits and my family had the Belgium Waffle with Bacon. Both items were cooked well, but the grits and shrimp was a little salty - it didn't stop us from killing the dish...LOL The service by waitstaff was prompt and friendly. Tiny but good spot. My first night here, I had to sit at the bar because the architecture and decor of it was awesome. This is probably one of the best hotel restaurants I've been to. I had a few cocktails and the cheeseburger and fries which were all delicious! That was Valentine's Day and they were so sweet to give me a chocolate covered strawberry for dessert. I even had breakfast here which consisted of egg whites, chicken sausage, potatoes and it normally comes with bread but I opted for fruit. This averaged out to about $24 with the tip which wasn't bad at all considering the prices at restaurants surrounding this place. I will say that the coffee was pretty weak so I didn't enjoy my coffee experience here. But between the live music, the large plush couches, the marble and wood, this is certainly a viable option for dinner or breakfast. I would eat here again for sure. read more

Aside from the beautiful architecture and decor, our experience was made even more delightful by the friendly staff. We would go to the lobby bar 'Ergo' for happy hour or after dinner drinks each night during our stay. We were greeted most days by bartender, Erik who was incredible! Great customer service, positive attitude, and makes the best drinks we have had in a long time. One of the best breakfasts I've had! As a Marriott Titanium member I got to eat at Carter's for free but would willingly pay for this delicious brunch meal. Located in the middle of beautiful Union Station Hotel, Carter's may be confused for any other hotel restaurant but the quality is significantly better. I've been to some top brunch places around the globe and this was one of the best. I ordered one of the crepes and my friend got the Eggs Benedict. The dish was well seasoned and all the ingredients tasted super fresh. The coffee was very aromatic as well. The atmosphere is well decorated and looks very high end. If you are a dedicated instagrammer like me you wouldn't be disappointed with the pictures you get here. The staff are prompt and friendly. They checked in on our table many times throughout the meal to make sure we had enough coffee and water. Felt very well attended to! Hot chicken sandwich wasn't very hot, the truffled burrata/tomato salad was more truffle than anything else and would have benefitted greatly from some toast/bread/crackers, and it would have been nice to know that my "grilled peach" flatbread would be raw green apple instead when I ordered room service. What a treat. Truth be known, I didn't know what to expect from Carter's. I wasn't sure if this was going to be "hotel food" or what. I was pleasantly surprised with our dishes. The cheese board was our starter. Don't miss out on this. My wife had the Shrimp and Grits and I had the Hanger Steak. Both were really good. We stuck around for the dessert. My wife had the Panna Cotta it was good. The Banana Pudding though......I cant even describe it. Im from the south and I know banana pudding. This is THE BEST Banana Pudding I've ever had. Stopped in to see the beautiful old Union Station Hotel and decided to have a bite to eat. You can sit anywhere in the lobby and they will bring your food/drink to you. As it was a cold rainy day we chose to sit by the fireplace. We ordered a Margarite flatbread to share and each chose a local Tennessee beer. The flatbread was brimming with tomatoes, arugula, mozzarella, shaved Parmesan and balsamic vinaigrette and full of flavor. The beer was refreshing and paired well with the flatbread. Had a reservation for 7:00 pm. They had open seating at the tables, bar and into the hotel lobby. The host informed us that we can sit anywhere. Person #1 who acknowledged our presence. We sat in the hotel lobby about 3 feet from another occupied table. My boyfriend got up to retrieve a menu from a waitress/bartender. Person #2 who acknowledged our presence. At this point we have been there for at least 15 minutes without even being asked our drink orders. Another server mistakenly brings us drinks and we tell him that we didn't order it and haven't ordered anything at all. Person #3 who acknowledged our presence. After 20 minutes of waiting without being greeted and asked for drink orders with 3 staff members who were aware we were there---- we decided to leave. Was the food good? We stopped into the Union Station Hotel for a bite to eat at Carter's restaurant. The hotel was a train station in the 19th-century! The lobby is gorgeous and has a vaulted ceiling with stained glass. We sat in the lobby and ordered drinks to start. Our waitress, Amanda, was very knowledgeable. Some of the recommended liquors were High West Double Rye, Belle Meade Bourbon, Botanist Gin and Angels Envy Rye Whiskey. My favorite was definitely the Angels Envy! We tasted a little bit of everything! -Watermelon salad -Heirloom Tomato salad -Seared Pork Belly on Bao buns -Lobster tacos in wonton shells -Truffle fries -Seasonal flatbread -Milk & Honey Everything we tasted was delicious but here are some of the things we loved: -The watermelon salad had both red and yellow watermelon. I had never tried or heard of yellow watermelon- was very sweet! -Heirloom tomato salad was amazing and all the flavors mixed beautifully! Burrato cheese is a new favorite!! -The pork belly melted in your mouth! This restaurant is a must stop! If your not staying at the hotel make sure you stop here for a drink and a bite to eat. I spent a couple hours here on a Thursday afternoon in June 2019. I am a senior citizen and a tourist, visiting Nashville for the 2nd time. Perhaps because the CMT Country Music Awards Festival was taking place in town, there was live music in the grand hotel lobby -- one act after another, all day, it seemed. I enjoyed the performances (not loud bands, more like folk music or singer-songwriters). Relaxing in the gorgeous, soaring lobby that was once a rail station waiting room, I ordered a lunch of shrimp and grits, with a beer. Service was very good. The food was not as good, because my dish had way too much cheese in it. But I loved spending time in this splendid, beautifully renovated hotel. I have been in to Carter's a few times recently and have been very pleased with the food! Loved the menu and the multiple options. The service was unorganized and it seemed like the servers didn't know who was assigned to our table. And the most disappointing factor in this restaurant is the seating. There is not one comfortable seat in the house, and I have tried many different options. I would love to come back for the food and drinks, but with out having a comfortable place to dine, it's a hard option to chose. read more

I ate at the Union Station hotel several years ago & had a delightful lunch in a well lit corner room that was beautifully decorated. I returned with friends to find the restaurant had morphed into a bar with seating behind the bar in a windowless area or in the lobby. There is a limited menu offering with only one vegetarian offering which was an uninspired salad. Union Station should be able to do much better than this read more
