First, I felt that I had issues finding the front door of this place... so maybe it's a break in before escaping out. Next, we tried to call to inform them we were having troubles finding the entrance causing to be a few minutes late however they did not pick up (we were the first session of the day). While in the escape room, I will say it was incredibly toasty and I wish there were a couple more vents in the rooms themselves to provide some ventilation. Finally, without exposing the escape room, I felt all the puzzles were linear and so without the continued clues it would have been impossible to complete the room in the time limit given. I feel that if they wanted to do this room without any clues it would need to be a 2-3 hour room although the puzzles were well designed. Finally, there was no like end picture of us breaking out which would be a nice addition to the experience. read more

We went the Erebus Haunted Attraction earlier this week. While in line for shirts, we saw cards with the Erebus Escape room. They had a promo code on them to save $3 per person. For some reason, the code did not work at all which was disappointing. I mentioned this to the person that greeted us and she said she would let her manager know. We weren't given that discount though. That's the only reason I give it a 4/5. We walked over to a lockers. We were instructed to put our phones and any other belongings in it. We were given a key for it to keep while we go into the escape room. We went over all the rules and then walked over to the room. One of the rooms we wanted was sold out, so we chose lock down. I must say the room was pretty difficult and a lot of fun. We finished with barely any time to spare. The screen shows you little hints along the way. We got our photo taken at the end. I did mention to the other woman that we would like to come back again, and if the code will work in the future. She said they will work on fixing it. read more

We had an amazing time at this escape room! We got professional instruction and we were super Impressed with the number of rooms and challenges in the Egyptian themed room. We really felt like we were in a movie! The only thing was we got clues maybe slightly too frequently and slightly too quickly after we started to figure out a clue/challenge, but you could probably adjust that by mentioning something at the start. I was looking for an escape room that was a little further north of where we live in Novi to be a little more flexible for everybody who is going to attend. After a quick yelp search I discovered that Erebus had only five star reviews! Naturally I pick this place to go and started to figure out what room we wanted to do. We ended up picking the eye of Horus, which we found out was the second hardest after we completed the room. We were not allowed to take our cameras into the escape room so I was unable to get any photos. I don't know what this building was before the escape room but it clearly was not something built just for this business. I really liked how it took advantage of an older building and utilized it in a new way. Our guide through this adventure was Jena. She gave us mint hints to try and help us along in the puzzle. We did end up using all three clues and we were able to solve the puzzle! Two quick things to note though. Our escape room was 4:30 in the afternoon on a Saturday and it was pretty brisk in the room when we arrived. However when we left we definitely could feel that the hallways were warmer. Also our escape room did require a flight of stairs to be climbed. So if you have any mobility issues you may want to double check if the room that you were about to book does have stairs. read more

The puzzles were engaging and surprising as well. We had Sage and Jenna who both did an awesome job keeping us on track. Afterwards we walked to Fillmore 13 for dinner. My boyfriend and I were in town visiting my parents and our plans were ruined for the day due to rain. My boyfriend is a huge fan of escape rooms, so I went to Yelp to see what was around and found Erebus. I looooved their haunted house when I lived in Michigan so was sure their escape rooms had to be top notch. When I saw that a reviewer had gone to over 500 escape rooms and gave this one 5 stars, we made the reservation for Body of Evidence. This was the largest escape room I've been in, it had the most rooms and the decor was incredible...and incredibly gory! I loved the suspense of moving around the coffins and bodies even though I knew they weren't real. The puzzles were also very interactive and fun, this one required a minimum of 4 people and we needed all hands on deck. We didn't finish the final puzzle in time but were so close. The crew was great at check in and we had a fun time chatting with them after and having them show us how to solve everything in the end. I'll be sure to visit another one next time we are back in town, the new Egyptian one looks awesome!!! read more

My friends and I have done both the Body of Evidence and Lockdown rooms and both times were super fun and challenging. We beat Lockdown with literally 15 seconds to spare, and we were told we held the record for beating Body of Evidence with 13.50 minutes left (we had more people for this one). The Game Master helps a lot along the way when you seem a little stuck which was super helpful. They let you problem solve yourself but don't leave you to fail alone like other escape rooms in the area. The attention to detail in each room was beyond realistic. A lot more thought out than other escape rooms in the area. Booking and check-in was also super easy and staff was extremely friendly! Best escape room in Michigan by far. Their attention to detail and cleverness was on full display during our visit on Saturday night. We did the jailhouse escape (group of 7) and it really felt like we were in a jail cell. The difficulty was at the perfect level and I was pretty pumped when we succeeded, especially when I found out that the success ratio was just a bit above 30 %. Our entire group was so happy with the adventure that we immediately wanted to do another one, but unfortunately not everyone could stay. We've already begun planning a return visit. This was such a fun experience! I didn't know this existed until we went to the haunted house. We went as a group of four and did the jail cell one. We were able to solve it. After trying most of the popular escape rooms in metro Detroit, it's an easy choice to say Erebus Escape is my favorite so far! The quality of staging that has gone into this escape game is on par with the experience you've come to expect from the Erebus brand. It feels realistic and I love how detailed the entire experience is. I think you get the most bang for your buck too! 30$ a person for a fun hour of high quality entertainment is the most reasonable in the area. Many places will charge almost double for a lower quality experience. Currently the lockdown game is available with a few more scenarios to be released later this year. I can't wait until the rest of the games are released to go back and try more! read more

We played the body of evidence game last Saturday. We were paired up with another foursome, and had a lot of fun. When we got stumped our handler gave us hints to keep us from getting frustrated. We were able to easily book a time to go, and fill out any necessary forms online. You needed to play our scenario with 3 or more people, so my husband and I were put with another group (which was fine just an FYI if you want to be with friends). Our challenges were difficult, but not impossible to solve. There was definitely a lot of time and thought put into the design and layout. It made the whole experience very immersive and engaging. Elaborate props, attention to detail, well thought out rooms, challenging but the clues make sense! The experience was made even better by Zach (our "handler"). TLDR: This is the absolute best escape room that I have done! Background: We are a group of three friends who have known each other for a long time. We have found escape rooms to be a great evening activity for us. We tend to prefer to attend these rooms alone. We have done around 20 of these rooms (all in the metro Detroit area) This Visit: I visited Erebus Escape with my group of 3 late on Sunday night. They were very easy to coordinate schedules and we were excited to start playing the second we saw the outside of their building. The building is an old church like place that has more charm than any other escape facility that I've seen (usually they sit in some bland office/warehouse space!) After being let into the space, we were directed to their registration lobby to wait for our room to be available. The amount of effort that the team put into the lobby was immediately noticeable and indicated a high level of professionalism. This level of concern for the customer experience is exactly what EVERY escape experience should have! Our host was very personable and provided a great intro to the room. Our next stop was the room. To get there, we traveled up the stairs of this 1940/50's building (again, their building adds SO much to the experience!). The room itself was the absolute best-constructed room I have ever attended. Everything was solidly constructed. We really felt like we were in a real jail cell. Their attention to detail made me feel the stress of being locked up. Our team stress level immediately rose and the adrenaline really kicked in. The gameplay was superb. This room had some of the most amazing technical aspects. Their subtle use of low tech to augment the high tech puzzles integrated so seamlessly into the theme and story of the room, We never felt pulled back to reality as tends to occur in escape rooms. Finally, the one aspect of an escape room that is hardest to get perfect, is the communication with your gamemaster. I will say, this is where I think Erebus is good but not great. Our favorite clue systems are built by the guys at Breakout (A2/Royal Oak). They use an aspect of the theme to provide you clues (letters in a mailbox, automated fortune teller spitting out cards etc). Erebus uses a more typical screen-based solution, BUT this should really not take anything away from the experience. This solution requires that the gamemaster be attentive and excellent at his job... and our game master was BOTH (and in spades!). His method of providing clues was exactly that---CLUES--- (which is EXACTLY how it should be done!). The worst game masters will say something like "do you want me to just tell you the code?". This kind of interaction immediately pulls you out of the theme of the room. By acting as a character in the room and subtly indicating places to direct our attention, we were able to beat the room in just under the 60 minutes. If any small adjustment to this clue system could be made, a heftier backstory for the character who is providing the clues could further embed the player into the game. (i.e. you know that one inmate escaped last night and he is communicating to you via something... blah blah..) I can't say how excited I am for Erebus to finish the rest of their rooms. I will be escaping from all of them! Thanks for a great experience guys, you really made our week! read more

We went on a family fun night. 5 of us with the youngest being 16. Everyone had a blast. Difficult enough to be very challenging but if we spun our wheels too much in one area a hint was available. We did the lockdown escape where we had to escape a prison cell. The facility was modern and well done. They had a very nice lobby and registering online was a breeze. There could be better signage out front but there was plenty of close parking. We will definitely go back to try another challenge. read more

I can't say enough good about Erebus Escape! Our group of friends have now done the Lockdown and Body of Evidence rooms, and had a blast with each. The attention to detail far surpasses the other popular escape room venues in the area, and the puzzles are very clever. Both times, we had a puzzle not work correctly, and the staff was quick to help us out each time, giving us back a few minutes of puzzle time for the inconvenience - which was definitely appreciated. The staff is super attentive and friendly, and pays much better attention - and gives better clues - than other escape room venues we have been to.
