Pretty disappointed. The games there are great but we did the room blackout and someone came into our room 4 times to fix stuff while playing. I don't understand why they don't just close the room if it's broken. The girl even told us it was broken and they were waiting for parts for it. We never solved the room, nor understood the plot bc they came in so many times to fix puzzles for us or explain to us " you did it right, this was supposed to happen". They felt so bad for us that they gave us the keychain. To be honest I just wish I was refunded or given a different room at that point because I was looking forward to playing so much. I felt like we would have solved the room if we didn't have to use our clues on broken stuff and if things worked like they were supposed to work. Would love to comeback and give it another chance, but I hope they fix stuff first. read more

Love escape rooms, and great effort put into the rooms. Sadly, some of their equipment is faulty, and we had to use our clues to figure out how to fix those items. Our directional lock broke, and we ended up not making it through. We decided to try to give it another try. We wanted to use a Groupon, and, unfortunately, the voucher code did not come in time. We called to try to see what to do, and the man on the phone told us to just call back whenever we got the voucher code. We showed up hoping the code came in time, and we're informed when we got there that we had to book an hour ahead no matter what. We offered to purchase on the spot and we're turned away. Understandable, but we are very sad about this experience. Just wish we could have known more ahead of time. Hope this helps someone else. read more

First time doing an escape room out here since moving out from GR and had a blast with my friends. Tommy made sure that we had a good time. We did The Meltdown and there were a ton of cool features that made the room interactive and fun. We're coming back in a month for the sequel to the room. So fun! This was my first escape game experience and I went with my co-workers. At first I was skeptical but it ended up being quite intricate and a little more difficult than anticipated. We were a group of 10 intelligent people and we couldn't complete "The Dwelling", but we were really close! The team here obviously put a lot of thought into the games and it shows. Well constructed, well maintained, immersive sets with clever puzzles that fit perfectly in the scenario provide a fun yet very challenging quest. Game masters were welcoming and attentive. So far we've done CSI Homicide Detectives (April 2017) and CDC Viral Containment (April 2018) and we have escaped both with minutes to spare. Since the last time we were there, they added a button to the doors to let yourself out if you need to use the bathroom or take a call, which is awesome and will definitely put some people who are nervous about being locked in a room for 60 minutes at ease. The CSI one is my favorite of the two. This place has awesome staff who do a great job making sure you are comfortable with all the types of locks you might encounter. They really make it fun and do a great job getting everyone together for a picture at the end (give them your phone to get a copy for yourself, they don't all end up on their FB page). The next one we want to do is the "haunted" one, The Dwelling, and I can't wait! read more

Our game master wasn't paying a lick of attention to us. We spent 6 minutes waving at the camera and asking for a clue we never got. When we did get a clue, all he did was ask us if we completed a task - which we did. Then he didn't give us anything else. The room was awesome and we would like to go back, but that game master made it a horrible experience. read more

I have done many escape rooms, but I have to admit I was very impressed with the level of detail and thought that went into making the CDC room. There was a new surprise around every corner. This is not a room for the squeamish. Make sure you have a group of smart people because the escape rate is around 30%. We made it out with 8 minutes left! Fun time! read more

This past weekend we celebrated our daughters 40th birthday with a group of 11 people. After going out to dinner, we experienced one of MEG -Michigan Escape Games newer escape rooms, "The Dwelling" (7:30pm). We had the best time! The rooms were well designed, the clues challenging, the dwelling was an adventure with all the different rooms and they even threw in some scary parts that made it really exciting! They don't tell you that you don't have to unlock every lock and that there's going to be more than one room, so now you know. Great idea to check in on FB for that extra clue and bring a paper & pencil because you cannot use your cell phone. We didn't escape in time but we were close. Went to the mission impossible escape room although the room was creative and nice our experience was not. We got in the room we were about 30 minutes in and we got stuck on a puzzle with switches. So we asked for a clue we waited about two minutes no clue was given so we asked again waited another two minutes asked for another clue then about a minute after we finally got our clue wasting five minutes of our time just waiting. Then once we got to the part where you have to operate a crank we started cranking then the game master came into the room and stopped us because apparently the room was not reset correctly from the previous escape. So the game master spent about three minutes resetting the crank while we stood around and waited this wouldn't have been an issue but we weren't given any extra time for there mistake. Another issue I had was with the room you are given a code and flip switches which causes lights on a panel to illuminate revealing letters. My issue with this was that the lights do not look remotely close to the letters they are supposed to be so we sat there confused rechecking the code making sure we did it right for about 5 minutes until we asked for a hint. The hint we were given was to flip the switches to get the correct light code which we were already doing correctly so we messed with it a bit more then asked for another hint which then pointed us to look at the lights as letters. We weren't able to escape the room just due to the game master either not paying attention or just giving not enough hints and at the end we weren't even shown what we had left to do which would have made the experience more enjoyable despite not being able to make it out. Overall I was very irritated with the experience and just disappointed because I love escape rooms. read more

A team of 5 newbies decided to select the hardest game possible (Final Breath) despite having NEVER done an escape room before. It was DOPE! Super immersive, highly realistic, and REALLY challenging. Although we struggled, we always had a blast and there were a couple of twists I wasn't ready for. I want to book again! It is expensive so try to find coupon codes. Also if it's your birthday they'll give you a free clue. SAVE the clues! Final Breath was HARD, but now all the other ones will be easier. Enjoying escaping! read more

Having done more than 10 rooms at numerous locations (~50% success rate), this one ranks up there with the best. We've done 3 here @ MI escape games (CDC, Dwelling, Heist), all have NOT disappointed. Well built rooms with plenty of unexpected twists. A great time for beginners and experienced minds alike. Personally, I would recommend trying to get enough people to fill a room, just for the best experience and comfort level for all....as these rooms require some inhibited communication. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE. My escape team and I have done most of the rooms here, and they are so well done. They're clever, they're fun, the designs in some of their newer rooms are INCREDIBLE. "Meltdown" and "Murder at Bar Noir" are probably my two favorite rooms, if you're not sure what to pick! But really, all their rooms are great. The staff are always super nice. They give you a discount if you book another room before you leave, and you can get a discount if you buy an Escape Games Passport. read more

This is so far, my favorite escape room location. My family of seven and I did the Checkmate room. We thought that we were doing great until another surprise happened and kept us going. We did not finish the room but will be back next year to try and finish it. When booking a room, try to get the maximum number of people especially for the Checkmate room because there is a lot to do and it is harder to accomplish with less people. The detail that goes into these rooms is amazing. My family and I wish that if you do not finish a room but have a small amount left, that they allow you to continue, because when going back, we already now most of the room and it won't be as enjoyable. read more

My family and I played the CSI room back in May (apologies for the very late review). First off, yes we arrived late due to getting stuck in construction. We came all the way from Ann Arbor. Our game was at 3:00 and we showed up right at 3:00 instead of 2:45 to allow for time to use the bathroom and sign waivers. I understand this was our fault but still...when we walked in and told the man at the front counter we were here for the 3:00 game the first thing out of his mouth was "Well you're late!" I knew that and apologized and said it was my birthday and we got caught in construction coming from Ann Arbor. After that we were given a "lock demonstration" by this same man who was extremely condescending the entire time. He treated us (all adults) like we were 6 year olds who had never seen a lock before. Once we got into the room, I was surprised that there was no video orientation or anything remotely "fun". The game master simply read at least an entire page off of a clipboard of rules and a brief synopsis of the room's scenario. It surprised me that this long orientation took place INSIDE the room, so I hardly paid attention as my eyes were wandering figuring out what I was going to do first once the timer started. I do remember certain rules she said about not needing to do anything with electricity (duh). Starting out - this room has no CSI theme WHAT SO EVER! I expected a dead "body" covered with a bloodstained sheet on the floor, crime scene tape, or evidence markers...or...SOMETHING! The decor was highly disappointing and did not hold up to the theme the website promises. Also, they mark things in the room as "not a clue" by using circular white garage sale stickers - super tacky. As we progressed through the game, we found a lamp locked away (this isn't giving too much away) and I said out loud to my group "don't plug it in! She told us not to use electricity!" Well come to find out...we were supposed to plug it in and our game master had to give us a clue to tell us to do so. In fact - we ended up using electricity for at least 2 more clues off the top of my head! That's my main complaint - the "rules" that the game master told us during orientation directly contradicted the game. Also, I didn't understand the clue system. We were told we could ask for 3 clues, but then we would get clues randomly throughout the game...so we figured the 3 we asked for would be "big" clues. Nope. Just normal clues like we had already been getting. So I don't get the point of a "3 clue limit" if you just get them routinely from the game master anyway? Another thing that got in our way while playing was the page-long texts we had to read. At one point, we read an entire page about how to correctly use a ladder and "if we didn't do it correctly we would immediately be removed from the game no refunds blah blah blah" it took at least 2 minutes out of our game play to read each of these pages - and I recall at least 2-3 of them being in the room. Another huge complaint we had was that this place does not do wrap ups! We did not escape our room, and we were not told what we missed or what steps were next in order to escape. Escape rooms should always offer wrap ups if the group wants one. You may think it's a smart business move to not wrap up so I'll come back and try the room again, but after everything else that occurred, I will not be back. read more
