Erawan Thai - Vegetables with Tofu - Thai Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

The best and most authentic Thai food I've had since being a child. It's family owned and they are all super friendly and helpful. Great for dates, family nights and catering! Worth the trip! read more

The nice thing about the Columbus Thai food scene is that there's enough places that you can afford to be picky. Downside to that (for me, anyway) is that now there are only a couple Thai places in town I bother going to, and neither of them is in the Short North. Erawan is one of them - way out of the way on Refugee Road, squeezed in amongst the horse barns, tractor-trailer yards, and who-knows-what else, in McThai Center. And no, that's not a joke, it's really in a modest little strip center called 'McThai Center'. Some things you just can't make up. The food is worth the trip out of town. The food is well-cooked, fresh, and in my experience (disclaimer: I'm not Thai, but I've eaten a lot of Thai food, both in the US and in Thailand) authentic, which is a big sticking point for me. The papaya salad is among the best I've had in town, with a nice bite of lime and chili, and wedges of tomato among the shredded papaya, and for the adventurous, salted crab for flavoring. The pad thai is solid, if not exceptional (look, if you want 100% authentic pad thai, go to Thailand, it's not the same when you're not eating it squatting on a sidewalk in the sweltering heat and humidity), and the curries are well done, particularly the red curry, which in addition to protein (I recommend duck), has eggplant, bamboo, and green bean. The homemade thai custard and black rice with mango is a nice way to polish off a meal, provided you can force anything else down your throat. The mango isn't always the sweetest (remember, you're in Ohio, it's not like they can pick mangoes off the trees) but the quality of the custard (actually made from mung bean) more than makes up for it. I haven't the slightest idea how someone can run a Thai restaurant in this location (there's a second one, Bangkok, down the road), but it's worth the drive. Go give these guys some love. read more

I love this place. My sister had gone here for years and introduced me a year or so ago. There are plenty of options for me as a vegetarian. They have a tasty dessert with sticky purple rice. The staff is so nice. The one time I had an issue with my order they didn't hesitate to fix it and bring out a fresh dish. And I mean I have only had 1 issue out of the many times I've gone. That's pretty good . The food is worth while and it is all made fresh. read more

Went with a half dozen friends and had multiple dishes all delicious. The son of the owner - I think - was our waiter, and he was just lovely and charming. Definite return if in the area. ADBL read more

One of good Thai restaurants in town. Pad Thai shrimp, pineapple fried rice, beef salad, and som tum are good. I still need to go back and try some other stuff in their menu. They are a little slow so make sure you are not in a rush. read more

A lot of times it's a debate whether to eat here or Bangkok restaurant on refugee road. They both are so close to each other. That sometimes it just comes down to certain dishes and who makes it better. Erawan's Thai has become my favorite place to visit. The taste and choices they have are the closest to an home cooked meal by my mother. I prefer this place over any place when it comes to southeast Asian's cuisine(Vietnamese, Laotian, Cambodian,Thai) it's definitely worth a visit . Although they haven't been around as long as Bangkok but the food speaks volumes in taste and presentation. A couple of things that I have tried. The Pho combination is up there with the rest of the pho around town. They serve up the best Pad See Ew seafood, chicken, and beef it all tastes yummy. And one thing is that not all restaurant who claim they know how to stir fry pad see ew can do it like Erawan's. I absolutely love the special sukiyaki! It is a must try. I recommend it along with the piñapple fried rice. read more

finally thai food in columbus that i can rave about. the location is off the beaten path near what remains of Eastland mall on Refugee road in the small mc thai plaza. restaurant only seats 40 people but the food is totally worth drive. we ordered the tom yum, bangkok spring rolls, panang curry, basil fried rice, basil shrimp, and pad see ew. everything was incredible. tasted like home cooking. so flavorful. we ordered spice level 2 which was delicious and quite spicy so if you like mild food, would order level 1. the soup was delicious. ill pass on the spring rolls next time but i cannot wait to have everything else again! will be making the drive out to erawan thai soon! read more

This has become our go-to place for Thai food and well worth the short drive. The food has been consistently good across orders and options. We are fairly basic usually with frequent orders of pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, etc. and also love their version of pork dumplings. So tasty. If you are feeling more adventurous, the staff are always happy to give you recommendations and that has worked out well several times. They also have awesome authentic sticky rice desserts. We love Erawan! read more

An exceptional place for great authentic Thai/Viet food! Pho broth is always savory and satisfying for an "anytime of the day" meal. Another favorite is the "Pla-Lad-Prig" which is deep fried whole tillapia topped with special chilli sauce. This place offers a grand selection of Thai/Vietnamese dishes 6 days a week, operating late on weekends for those late date nights as well! read more

First, funky gem! Have to love a place in a strip mall (mcthai strip) that has the news on and some gangster music playing. I dig it. Jasmine tea was delicious. Had the papaya salad and hot sweet basil (#47) with seafood. read more

I would call my experience a pleasant surprise, but for all the reviewer's who found it excellent as well. We had Todd Mum and vegetable rolls as starters. The 4 rolls were crisp, hot and tasty. The Todd Mum was superb with a perfect al-dente texture. The red curry with chicken was also delicious. First time here and I will be back. read more

nearly empty on a saturday and not sure why. service was polite and fast, food was delicious.

Ended up trying this place because I could not dine in at Bangkok which is my go to, food here is not to Swift and they just raised their prices again and they nickel and dime you to death on other items plus the gratuity is added to the check so this is a one and done for me, back to Bangkok for carry out it is read more

AMAZING Thai food! I came here at least twice this past week just because it was that good. It's one of those places that doesn't have a lot of recognition but people, check this place out. The Panang Beef curry is the main attraction but their Pad see ew is a must have as well. They'll ask you how spicy you want the dish, and we went for a level 4/4 "Thai spicy" and my mouth was on fire! But obviously in a good, it hurts but I love it kind of way. Oy vey, salivating as im writing this review. Plus the waiters are extremely funny and kind. Definitely check this place out to get your next Thai fix read more

The pho was great. It tasted really good and the portion was huge! I only got the "large" (they have extra-large) and it's safe to say that it was the largest portion I had ever had. The Thai curry was okay but too sweet. It was very very sweet. People who like sweet food may find it fantastic, but it was just not the real Thai flavor. I prefer the other Thai place (Bangkok) 5 minutes away. read more

I LOVE Thai food. I can't believe it has taken me so long to visit this place. I came here with a couple of my girl friends for a dinner out. It's kinda hard to find their menu online, which made me nervous. I always like to scope out the menus before going to a new place. Erawan's menu is HUGE. There's a lot of different options, including traditional Thai dishes your average American knows about like pad Thai and spring rolls, some random Chinese-American dishes like kung pao and then some more "traditional" dishes like papaya salad. It took us a LONG time to get through everything. I have a lot of experience with Thai food and I like to try new things. We ordered spring rolls, the papaya salad with salted crab (we had no idea what they was) and Kee Mao. I love the spring rolls. My friend who had been there before made sure we got the cucumber dipping sauce. So refreshing and delicious! The papaya salad...oh man. Not what I had expected. It was not like any other papaya salad I ever had. It was so fishy and not to our tastes. My Kee Mao was perfect! Lots of delicious and fresh veggies. As the other reviews mentioned, the portions are HUGE. It's great to be able to take some home for lunch the next day. The waiter was really welcoming to us and gave us good service. It was a great experience and I will definitely return soon! read more

This place is fantastic!!! Went there with my husband and a few of his friends tonight. We had pho, drunken noodles, panang curry, and pad woon sen - I didn't taste everything because of some food allergies, but everyone was very happy with their food. The spring rolls were very fresh and generous. I'm constantly on the hunt for a big bowl of noodles - it's in my blood! I was overwhelmed by all my choices... I'll be back soon! read more

We are not all on the same page. I have visited this place multiple times and still.... I I finally have come to the conclusion the food just is not good anymore, or the service as others have mentioned. It isn't what it used to be. Just find somewhere else and take all of the reviews with two or less stars seriously. They are hit and miss with the food now. Some days you will get a great meal. Other days you will be eating air from waiting too long or eating sub-par food. read more

Thanks to other Yelpers, I gave this place a try. So glad I did. I had the Pho Thai. It was as good as it gets. Perfect taste & quality. The smallest bowl (medium) is HUGE! No need for any more than that. I will be back, hopefully many times. I am excited about the other choices, mostly Laosian dishes. read more

We have visited Erawan a handful of times since moving to Columbus. The staff is always helpful and welcoming, and the food is great and fast. Some of our favs are the Thai Vegetable Rolls, Pad Khee Mow, Pho Tai and the Spicy Eggplant & Garlic Sauce. You can choose how spicy you'd like most dishes on a scale from 1 - 4 stars. We usually get a 2 star and a 3 star so we don't melt our faces off. They also have really great Thai Iced Tea that can conveniently be taken to-go. You want to go to there. read more

I have eaten at Erawan Thai two times. (If I lived closer it would be my go to restaurant) My first experience I had ordered chicken green curry and was in heaven. The flavors just had a party in my mouth. I couldn't wait for the opportunity to arise to go back. More recently my family and my sister's fam visited Fort Rapids Indoor Water park and I just knew where we would grab lunch one of the days :) My sister and her family had lived in Thailand for two years so I was anxious to see if I was just impressed easily or if this place was truly da bomb. Every one of my sister's family members were in awwwwwww. They said it was the most authentic thai food they have had since they have been back in the states. They were truly impressed. There is not a lot of room in this little restaurant. It is quite small. We didn't personally mind that it's not fancy. They were quite busy the day we dined with them. We had somewhat slow service but the quality of food made up for it. We didn't even remember once we took our first bites :) read more

I have to say this is a great Thai restaurant. A hole-in-the-wall maybe, this is by far one of my favorite experiences at a local restaurant. I'm visiting from Dallas, Tx and this little place exceeded my expectations by far. I guess food is made from scratch. Flavors are very strong and what you expect from a Thai cuisine. Service was very attentive and prompt , always with a smile. If I ever return to Columbus, I will make this a must come back. Highly recommend. Keep it up! read more

Erawan Thai - Beef and meatball pho. So delicious. - Thai Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

I can't lie, the food is great. I've been going here for almost 10 years. I alway get the pho. However in the past months the prices have drastically changed. I understand there is an ongoing pandemic and everything is a bit higher now, but this place makes you feel like your being cheated. You will think it's a certain price after looking at the menu but then when you go to pay the bill you get charged at least 25% more. I went out with a friend the other week. We got 2 large pho and an order of spring rolls. My bill was $54. That's no bueno!! Again the food is great, but the prices are unfair in my opinion. Try houng on Morse road, same food for a much more fair price. read more

Not very happy what I order Today I Usually always order #27 pho but today it have a different taste, it didn't have that pho both taste & the meat was too hard to chew or too chewy... kinda disappointed what I pay for and it wasn't that great... read more

Delicious food, nice sized portions and friendly service. I had the red curry with chicken, and the spice level was excellent. Overall great experience! Would have been perfect with a glass of wine, but they don't serve alcohol. read more

Why two stars? Unfortunately for Erawan Thai they are located less than five minutes away and on the same road as Bangkok (probably the best Thai restaurant in Columbus). For the same price you can get a larger and better prepared portion of Thai curry (which happens to be my metric for determining how good a Thai restaurant is). The curry we got consisted largely of "broth" (the consistency was very oily and almost soupy) and vegetables (our green beans were also undercooked). The spicy large noodles lacked the depth of flavor (which I think comes from the Thai basil) I'm used to from Bangkok. So the food is okay for the price, but you can get better almost anywhere else in Columbus. The one saving grace might have been the price, but that is more than offset by the fact that you can similarly priced Thai food that is leaps and bounds above in taste and quality nearby. The service was acceptable, but the final nail in the coffin might have been the price for soda. $1.50 for a can of soda and no refills. I understand having to mark up to cover costs, but if you have to over charge so much to cover your margins, it would almost be better not to offer it at all. Overall a disappointing visit. read more

This place is AMAZING. I'm from England, lived in Alaska, DC and Maryland and this little place in Ohio is the BEST Thai food I have EVER had. The pad Thai is out of this world. Another favorite of mine are the Bangkok spring rolls made with crab meat. In fact everything I've ever had was wonderful. Made fresh packed with fresh herbs spices and vegetable. Today I had the Num Tok. The Thai beef salad as I'm on a low carb diet. It's was soooo good I ordered one to go. The owner is a lovely man who is extremely nice. The prices are amazing !!!!!!!! read more

Been here couple of times long time ago and thought I'd try again I wish I could like it for Thai food but it's just not as good and worth to come back to as other Thai restaurants. And of course I have my true favorite that my wife and I go to all the time. The food is just ok if you want something different and the service was not really the best. I'm sure there are others who like their food but I'm sad to say it's not for me when I have one true Thai favorite. Maybe we'll go back again some other time just because. read more

I can't even comment on the food. Bought a Resturant.com certificate to give them a try after seeing a write up in the Dispatch. Printed it out and then took the family over for lunch. Best Authentic Thai/Lao food in town!!! We are here at least once a week!! You gotta know to know their food;)

It was delicious! Hidden location but OMG the pineapple rice was amaaaazing. We ordered a pineapple rice, mango chicken, pho , 2 orders of dumplings and a pad Thai for 7 people and we still had leftovers. Worth every penny. We are definitely going back! read more

This meal was so terrible it made us sad. The special appetizer came out greasy, undercooked and tasted like it had gone from the freezer straight to the deep fryer. Main dishes were weirdly spiced, and did not taste like any incarnations of pad thai or pad ka prow we'd ever had - in fact, we both agreed it tasted like Thai food made by people who had never had Thai food, which confused the heck out of us. We left sad and still hungry. Never again. read more

Went here because Bangkok Thai was closed. Sat down and drank stank water because they didn't have Thai Iced Tea...meh. Ate a bowl of tom yum soup, i've had better, very bland. After wards I ordered a red curry with chicken. Also very flavorless with no heat. There are condiments on the table such as red pepper flakes to add for heat but that shouldn't be up to me but the chef. So the meal was very sweet. read more

Wonderful curry. Cute little non-descript place on the east side. $42 for appetizer, soup, 2 main dishes, and dessert. We will be returning.
