    Thai Chicken Bowl

I ordered the Thai Chicken Bowl & loved it. My friend ordered soup & cashew chicken and also really liked hers. Service was perfect & efficient and we got our food quickly. My bowl was hot and spicy and tasty.

Value in takeout cuisine is seldom found these days. Within the triad of portion size, food quality, and service, the motto "you can only pick two" rings true for most restaurants that lean toward a 70/30 carryout/dine-in ratio. Make no mistake, however--Siam Orchid has grown to be a hidden gem in the Columbus area, consistently hitting high marks in all three categories. This wasn't my first time ordering takeout here, nor was it my tenth. There was a period of my life when I picked up the $10.99 Phad Thai every day on my lunch break, each time followed by a not-so-presumptuous "see you tomorrow" during the handoff. The staff grew to know that I'd show up ten minutes before the scheduled pickup time, just to make sure the food went directly from the kitchen into my hands. And although I can't prove it, my once-lunch-sized portions slowly grew to resemble the larger dinner sizes. In case you forgot--this was lunch for $10.99. As for the food, it's hard to say exactly what makes it so desirable--or so repeatable. The closest comparison I can think of is rewatching your all-time favorite movie again and again, catching new Easter eggs each time. You already knew it was great, but a new appreciation for the little things adds to its value over time. Greatness becoming greater. Phad Thai is no stranger to American cuisine (it was practically designed for it), but I suspect some of its less common ingredients in the American diet--tamarind paste and fish sauce, notably--act like Trojan horses to picky eaters. At Siam Orchid, you can see the fresh lime, ground peanuts, green onions, and crushed red pepper flakes, and eat it with those in mind. But it's the ingredients in the background that are doing the heavy lifting. At the risk of offering too much exposition and not enough substance: this place rocks. The food is piping hot, flavorful, and based on the price-to-portion ratio alone, it's probably the best value in takeout right now. Factor in how everything here is utterly delicious, and I'm shocked the overall star rating isn't higher. An identical dish at a restaurant that embellishes its menu descriptions with artisan buzzwords would charge $24--and you'd probably see a write-up about it in The Dispatch.

We had a fantastic meal at Siam Orchid in Powell OH where almost everything on their menu can be made vegan. We had the crazy noodles which are crazy thick and crazy good and their spicy garlic tofu. So good. Go check it out !

The lunch menu deals looked good so we decided to try a few of their dishes. The Crazy Noodles came with wide stir fried noodles and mixed veggies. I got mine with tofu and it was cooked well and the portion was great but even though I got it spicy the spice level was pretty mild. If you like spicy like me ask for some red pepper sauce to add a kick! The Green Curry was a solid choice- it was creamy and came with lots of veggies and tofu or your choice of protein. The Shu Shee Fish was a good choice for fish lovers since it has chunks of deep fried fish topped with red curry and veggies. It was flavorful and good, but also on the milder side. The food also came in a fish shaped dish so brownie points for that! Service was very quick and they gave us some fortune cookies which are always fun! They have lots of indoor seating options - just remember that they have break time from 2:30-4:30 and are closed on Sundays!

    Chow Mein

My mom used to make us Chow Mein when we were kids. Having the crunchy noodles was the best part. This is a good as my mom's. I'm in heaven. Light, great flavored sauce. My hubby got the lo mein, which was good but just a touch too much sauce. The crab Rangoon left a little to be desired in crab and green onion but the egg roll made up for it. We will try dine in next time.

Had to try this place since I've been struggling to find good Thai spots in Columbus. I decided to order a handful of things to share with folks and friends: tod marn gai (chicken fritters with a tangy sauce on the side), pla lad prig (my family's favorite dish, a fried fish usually made with tamarind paste), holy basil (chicken in a coconut milk sauce), phad prig king (sautéed green beans with peppers), and massamam curry with chicken. My favorite was the phad prig king. Haven't had it before but it's one of those recommended traditional dishes. I was really impressed! The massamam curry was also fabulous. It's not super sweet as I've usually had it but you can really taste the coconut. I also loved the tod marn gai. Great seasoning and the sauce tasted like a type of fish sauce. I wasn't the biggest fan of the pla lad prig. Their version tasted more like the same sauce used in orange chicken. They do serve Chinese food here as well and I'm open to going back to try it! Overall, good portion sizes for the prices. Lots of good options on the menu. And I heard they have lunch specials. The inside is kind of cozy. Dimly lit with stringed lights hanging up. I'm not sure it it's supposed to give a night Market feel but it was a calming ambience!

We've been here a couple of times and it usually hits the spot. There's plenty of parking in the plaza, they're currently doing dine in again, and there's plenty of space inside the restaurant. The atmosphere is calm, soothing, and intimate. We got the Panang Curry, Crazy Noodles, and Thai Prew Warn. The noodles were absolutely delicious and so flavorful, made well, and delicious! The Panang Curry had really great coconut flavor and made well, but it seemed to have an overpowering flavor of coconut milk and not curry. I just wanted a bit more curry that I was expecting, but still good. The Thai Prew Warn was good, but we weren't prepared for how sweet and sour the sauce was and the sauce was a bit overwhelming. I'm not certain, but it tasted like a ketchup based sauce, but with more sour. Overall, the meal was made well, tasted pretty good, and was authentic. We spent about $65 after tip for these 3 dishes. Staff was very nice, checked in on us, and food came out pretty quickly. I felt that the dishes were good. It's a good place for Thai food, friendly staff, and has an inviting atmosphere. I would recommend trying it!

It is a good enough spot to go for Thai food on Sawmill Rd. We chose from the Thai menu, but there is a Chinese menu with favorites like Schezwan available as well. We ordered the Tom Yum Soup with shrimp. I wish the soup was a bit thicker, did not have large pieces of tomato, and was less salty. Unfortunately, our meal started off badly with the soup. We ordered a large and was not even half way through the soup when I found a small black bug in it. At first, I was checking out what it was and then realized the antennas. I then showed my husband who confirmed it. I waved down the server and showed her. She took the bug right in her hand to inspect it and could not tell at first until she found the antenna as well. She apologized and asked if we would like to replace it, but we were done with soup for the night. Next, we had the sate gai, which is basically chicken satay that comes with peanut and cucumber dipping sauces. Both sauces were good, but on the sweet side. For our entrees, we ordered the panang curry with chicken and side of fried rice and the basil Thai fried rice with chicken. Both entrees were good and had spice. The panang curry did come with crushed peanuts, which I would omit next time. We ended up having some left overs. When we asked for a box and the bill, the server told us that she had removed the charge for the Tom Yum Soup already. It was nice of her to do that from the start. Overall, we enjoyed the food we were able to have.

Excellent service and speedy delivery of both food and drinks. I highly recommend the phad kee mow since it is spicy and sweet, I also recommend the dumplings since they are cooked to just perfection. Fon I deeply recommend as a server since she is quick and always shows up with a smile on her face.

What type of fish do they use in the fried dishes?

We were greeted and told to sit wherever we like. We were the only patrons at this time. With it being our first time, we took awhile to go thru the menu. So many choices to choose from and so many appealing entrees. We ended up getting the diving chicken and braised lamb stretch noodle accompanied by some chicken wings to try. My diving chicken blew my socks off. It was beautifully presented, aromatic, and warm. It was accompanied by white rice. With Plenty of tasty marinated chicken, bok choy, green onions and bean sprouts in a semi spicy broth. Super fulfilling and a nice portion. I shared my bowl with a hungry 6 year old and still had leftovers! Fiance got the braised lamb and stretch noodles, he admitted he had no clue what he was getting or what to expect. Nevertheless he received a nice hearty bowl of lamb and hand stretch noodle in a nice and hot lamb broth. Also accompanied by white rice. He finished majority of his bowl only leaving some broth behind. We both tried each others and both agreed on the diving chicken having a better taste but I think it's because it's spicier. The chicken wings were on the dry side but they were still tasty and completely devoured. Service was standard and immediate. I didn't see a kids menu. Buy we Really enjoyed the food.
