Great music was playing while customers sat at tables and on couches drinking matcha and enjoying the vibe. I decided upon the OG Matcha and Honey Bread and took a seat outside. Wait staff brought out drinks and treats to us when they were ready. After stirring the marshmallow into the matcha, I enjoyed a few bites in between sips. Came to Equitea for a treat during my weekend in Baltimore, and I'm so glad I came across this little spot! The matcha was very tasty and clearly high quality. I appreciate that they ask if you would like your matcha plain, balanced, or sweet. I do wish I got mine sweet, but that's personal preference. Katrina was an absolute angel, she was so warm and kind to us when we came in and gave us recommendations. We got the OG and the signature; both were amazing. The OG has a smokiness from the marshmallow that added a delicious flavor. The signature was also amazing and had a clear lavender taste, which I feel like gets lost easily in other drinks. Described as the best matcha my partner has ever had, and I'd have to agree! Per Katrina's recommendation, we also got the honey bread, which was AMAZING. The dining room is small with only about 8 places to sit, and some outdoor tables. Overall, amazing service and clearly a lot of care and attention to good quality products. I've always driven past this vacant office space and wondered why nothing was in here and now that Equitea is calling this corner home, it all just makes sense. The inside feels very Japanese-inspired with mid century modern touches. Gorgeous lighting, luxurious drapery, cozy couch seating, wooden bar stools, a quaint corner booth, and a community table perfect for coworking. The menu is still small but mighty. I ordered the matcha latte iced which comes with oat milk, a toasted marshmallow plus, I added maple syrup for a bit of sweetness. It was really good with an impressive amount of foam on top. However, my boyfriend's OG matcha which comes with just water, maple syrup and matcha was SO good. I was really impressed because a lot of matcha without milk can be a bit too grassy tasting for me. Not this one. It was refreshing, balanced and sweet without being overly sweet. Pro tip: The garage next door is free for the first 20 minutes or $5 for one hour. We came on a Saturday around 11am so it was super crowded when we got there but it did start to pick up. My friend and I sat at the bigger table and were asked to move to accommodate a larger group. It felt a little performative, they roasted a marshmallow with a torch to top the matcha. The matcha had a powder on it that we cannot identify but it really brought the whole flavor down. Without the unidentified powder, it would be an incredible matcha, a real matcha taste with just the right amount of milk. It was quite pricy at $6.75 for the cups being so small with rounded bottoms, making it even smaller. Overall a positive experience! It's a beautiful space with friendly staff. Don't let the long line discourage you, they are quick! Came about 30 min before closing and they were out of Ube, which is okay, just something to be mindful of. Drinks were good - I loved the marshmallow addition! I think this place is a great option if you want a drink that isn't alcohol or coffee. Only negative is the price. A price was listed, then we were asked how sweet we wanted our drinks - we said half. Apparently that required another 75¢ upcharge. It seemed like a bit of a hidden fee as it wasn't mentioned and that felt exorbitant for some sugar (how much would full sweetness cost?). So my 2 drinks were $16. We had a good experience but the price is too high for me to return often. read more

i have been meaning to try this place since they opened but always remembered on a weekend when it was totally packed. i recently did some remote work on a weekday so was able to stop in. i ordered the strawberry matcha and the honey butter toast, which came to 20 dollars. the baristas were very nice and the interior is really cute, although maybe small for its popularity. we lucked out and stole a seat as someone was getting up. i liked the strawberry matcha, but it didn't blow me away. you could tell it was very high quality, and the strawberry puree was really fresh and tasty, but it was missing something. it didn't taste like grass at all which was great. the honey butter toast was quite good and tastes exactly was described. this place was good, but for the portion size and price i wouldn't make this a regular stop. read more

This is about a 35min drive from my house, but i would take that drive every weekend if need be. Each matcha is delicately crafted and the taste is beyond. You can tell there is true intention with the flavors and the pairings. I also love that they do not mask the flavor of the matcha with all these added sugars.... pure maple is the only sweetener on the menu! On my side of the IG algorithm, Equitea has been popping up all over my feed. I thought the matcha craze was over but it's just coming to Baltimore and this place is evidently very buzzy because the founder went to LA to launch and caught Gweneth Paltrow's eye and now she's an investor? I am always scared of very instagrammable drinks bc they are usually a let down. This was my second time there, the first time I went way too late in the day and the line was insane and by the time I got to the front of the line, they had to pause taking orders as each latte is hand made. The staff were great and handed out matcha wellness shots but the wait was too crazy, so I ended up just getting a crobagel (croissant bagel combo) and leaving. I was hoping they would have the best croissants here but they're from Fresh Baguette which I've tried at the Farmers Market and it wasn't my favorite. Equitea is currently at the old JGBG restaurant and the space is HUGE. I tried their OG matcha and with added honey it was closer to $8, which is pricy. I will say the foam and the burnt marshmallow was unexpected. Because of the affiliation with Goop I thought it might be healthy but it's not necessarily good for you. I do want to try their matcha flight and was very impressed with the latte, the staff cares very much for their art but be prepared to wait, they are going to have a permanent home in Baltimore so unlike me who was panicking to get there to try it before they closed, you can rest assured they are sticking around! I've visited Equitea twice and loved it both times!! I have tried a few different items because: Hojicha or the Kyoto Hot matcha latte Cold matcha latte Strawberry matcha latte Loved them all!! The price is high enough that it would need to be a treat for me but gosh, the drinks are so good that the price doesn't even make me blink. This is an amazing pop up! A friend and I planned to meet up here and we are so glad we did! First, I've admired this building for years and have never been in. The place itself is nice with big windows and plenty of seating. Second, the people were amazing! Incredibly friendly to match their artistry of beverages! We both asked for help in selecting drinks, and the feedback given was spot on! Third, and arguably most importantly, the food and beverages are expertly crafted! The drinks are gorgeous... my friend had the lavender matcha and literally exclaimed on first drink. She's a big matcha fan and she was thrilled! I had the Earl Grey option.. now mind you, this is only my second time having matcha. It was very well done, but unfortunately, I don't think matcha is my future. But you know what is? CROGELS!
