I've never written a yelp review before today but I feel inclined to share my experience at Equitea because of how excellent their matcha was. I've visited Equitea twice and loved it both times!! I have tried a few different items because: Hojicha or the Kyoto Hot matcha latte Cold matcha latte Strawberry matcha latte Loved them all!! The strawberry matcha latte took my breathe away. I've never had better. Truly the best quality matcha I've personally had (I'm not an expert but I do value a good, simple, high quality cup of tea). The price is high enough that it would need to be a treat for me but gosh, the drinks are so good that the price doesn't even make me blink. I'm not sure if I'm already having a great day whenever I go to Equitea but I always leave thinking, wow it's a good day to have a great day. Service: phenomenal. Every interaction has been no less than delightful and helpful. Ambiance: crowded due to the small space but when it's a good product, what can you do! The furniture is lovely and on their off hours, I bet it's a great place to do work. read more

Overall a positive experience! It's a beautiful space with friendly staff. Don't let the long line discourage you, they are quick! Came about 30 min before closing and they were out of Ube, which is okay, just something to be mindful of. Drinks were good - I loved the marshmallow addition! I think this place is a great option if you want a drink that isn't alcohol or coffee. Only negative is the price. A price was listed, then we were asked how sweet we wanted our drinks - we said half. Apparently that required another 75¢ upcharge. It seemed like a bit of a hidden fee as it wasn't mentioned and that felt exorbitant for some sugar (how much would full sweetness cost?). So my 2 drinks were $16. We had a good experience but the price is too high for me to return often. read more

Finally trying out Equitea and I am a HUGE fan!!!!! The matcha is great, not too sweet when they make it balanced. The OG was excellent and served with yummy toasted marshmallow!!! The vibes are so cute and cozy here. I came on a rainy weekday around lunch time and the atmosphere was perfect. Took me back to the cafes I went to in Japan! The vibe of this place was amazing. Some great seating areas although very small. It was very busy when we went around 12pm on a weekday. It felt a little performative, they roasted a marshmallow with a torch to top the matcha. The matcha had a powder on it that we cannot identify but it really brought the whole flavor down. The matcha itself was great and the marshmallow cold foam worked nice together. Without the unidentified powder, it would be an incredible matcha, a real matcha taste with just the right amount of milk. It was quite pricy at $6.75 for the cups being so small with rounded bottoms, making it even smaller. Equitea feels like one of those places you almost don't want to tell people about because it's that good. Tucked quietly into a corner in Remington, walking in feels less like stepping into a Baltimore café and more like entering a serene, modern tea spot you might stumble upon in Japan. Equitea has officially moved out of their pop up into their permanent space and let me just say, it is gorgeous in here! I've always driven past this vacant office space and wondered why nothing was in here and now that Equitea is calling this corner home, it all just makes sense. The inside feels very Japanese-inspired with mid century modern touches. Gorgeous lighting, luxurious drapery, cozy couch seating, wooden bar stools, a quaint corner booth, and a community table perfect for coworking. The menu is still small but mighty. I ordered the matcha latte iced which comes with oat milk, a toasted marshmallow plus, I added maple syrup for a bit of sweetness. It was really good with an impressive amount of foam on top. However, my boyfriend's OG matcha which comes with just water, maple syrup and matcha was SO good. I was really impressed because a lot of matcha without milk can be a bit too grassy tasting for me. Not this one. It was refreshing, balanced and sweet without being overly sweet. Pro tip: The garage next door is free for the first 20 minutes or $5 for one hour. I had such a great experience at Equitea! I ordered the OG Matcha and it was honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've had as a regular matcha drinker. Smooth, well balanced, and clearly crafted with intention. I love that it's the first Matcha studio -- and it's absolutely beautiful inside. You can definitely come here to do some work, or hangout with friends. I also had the chance to meet the owner, Quentin, and he was awesome. I've falling for the matcha propaganda! This place doesn't disappoint. My OG matcha was honestly one of the best if not THE BEST matcha latte I've had in life. I usually have whole milk in my lattes but the oat milk worked well in this. Service was great. I felt like the Equitea team really tries to give customers an experience. It's a nice, cozy place inside of a nice building. This is a must try if ever passing through this part of Baltimore. This is about a 35min drive from my house, but i would take that drive every weekend if need be. Each matcha is delicately crafted and the taste is beyond. You can tell there is true intention with the flavors and the pairings. I also love that they do not mask the flavor of the matcha with all these added sugars.... pure maple is the only sweetener on the menu! The service is also quick for the demand.... and even if you have to wait a little, it is well worth it. This is a review for the matcha pop up. I really love all things matcha so I was very excited to try! I've had some nice high quality matcha from Japan before. And I can tell the matcha Equitea used is quality! I really liked the strawberry matcha, it's beautifully presented and so refreshing. I did not like the lavender one as much. It was too floral, to the point it was overwhelming and completely masked the flavor of the matcha. The decor is super cute! Spacious whilst still feeling cozy. A slightly rustic feel. Super cool space. Lines were crazy when we came over the weekend. It was also hard trying to find seating. If the business keeps up, they might have to expand. The space itself felt very LA, even though I also see the Japanese influence in the ceiling/wall tatami mat. I ordered The Classic and our friend got The Standard. We both enjoyed them. Definitely a unique experience and drink that I've never had before. Usually we order oat matcha lattes so this experience is more high end and sophisticated. I like that this cafe only serves oat milk. Although my drink was solely matcha, filtered water and maple syrup it tasted super clean and satisfying. I might ask for less syrup next time. The cheddar and chive biscuit was also very good, perfectly dense. We asked for it heated but the center was a bit cold but it didn't throw off my enjoyment. We also got the basque cheesecake. On my side of the IG algorithm, Equitea has been popping up all over my feed. I thought the matcha craze was over but it's just coming to Baltimore and this place is evidently very buzzy because the founder went to LA to launch and caught Gweneth Paltrow's eye and now she's an investor? I am always scared of very instagrammable drinks bc they are usually a let down. This was my second time there, the first time I went way too late in the day and the line was insane and by the time I got to the front of the line, they had to pause taking orders as each latte is hand made. The staff were great and handed out matcha wellness shots but the wait was too crazy, so I ended up just getting a crobagel (croissant bagel combo) and leaving. I was hoping they would have the best croissants here but they're from Fresh Baguette which I've tried at the Farmers Market and it wasn't my favorite. Equitea is currently at the old JGBG restaurant and the space is HUGE. I tried their OG matcha and with added honey it was closer to $8, which is pricy. I will say the foam and the burnt marshmallow was unexpected. Because of the affiliation with Goop I thought it might be healthy but it's not necessarily good for you. I do want to try their matcha flight and was very impressed with the latte, the staff cares very much for their art but be prepared to wait, they are going to have a permanent home in Baltimore so unlike me who was panicking to get there to try it before they closed, you can rest assured they are sticking around! TLDR: be prepared to wait, but the matcha is good, not the BEST ever but certainly the best I've tried in Baltimore! read more

The building is beautiful and spacious, with a good amount of seating and beautiful natural light. The barista was also kind and the drinks came out so fast! The matcha itself was super refreshing! This is an amazing pop up! A friend and I planned to meet up here and we are so glad we did! First, I've admired this building for years and have never been in. The place itself is nice with big windows and plenty of seating. Second, the people were amazing! Incredibly friendly to match their artistry of beverages! We both asked for help in selecting drinks, and the feedback given was spot on! Third, and arguably most importantly, the food and beverages are expertly crafted! The drinks are gorgeous... my friend had the lavender matcha and literally exclaimed on first drink. She's a big matcha fan and she was thrilled! I had the Earl Grey option.. now mind you, this is only my second time having matcha. It was very well done, but unfortunately, I don't think matcha is my future. But you know what is? CROGELS! The pastry case was beautiful and we tried the croissant-bagel concoction: A+. Winner. Yes. They told us the pop up will be going into June - and they will have a more permanent spot in Remington soon. I stopped by right at opening (8am) on a Friday on my way to work and was warmly greeted by co-founder and CEO Quentin Vennie himself, who was holding down the fort for the morning. What a wonderful conversation we had, chatting about not only his company but also, of course, all things matcha. First of all, I had one taste here and I've been hooked. So going to Equitea is weekly visit for me which I use as self care. The owner, Quentin, is such a humble, welcoming and genuine being. I love the care and attention he puts into making each crafted drink. I love how unique the ingredients are, like having apple sugar and maple sugar to sweeten the drinks. But good things come to those who wait, and this strawberry matcha was worth the wait. Not only does it look cute but tastes amazing as well. They have oat milk as a nondairy option and you can add honey for an extra 50 cents. It does a pretty penny but when supporting local businesses the investment is worth it. I also got a matcha loaf and their canned lavender green tea to try later during the week. The matcha loaf is so good but missing the matcha taste.
